I was looking for a gorgeous and romantic place to celebrate our 2nd year anniversary. I searched online for "romantic getaways in Florida" and Port d'Hiver Bed and Breakfast stood out. DECOR: Wow, this place is a beauty. It has the Key West look and vibes without the crowds (huge positive for us). The buildings had plantation shutters and beautiful pale pink siding giving it the Keys vibe. The trees on the property really made this a tropical haven. 10/10 for landscaping. I did expect the grounds to be like an opened concept but it was divided and if you are directionally challenged like my husband, you will get lost in it. Online they advertise it as a place to have a small wedding but I don't see how (they must work their magic). The courtyards are this uneven brick cobblestone pavers which were very charming. The wrought iron on our gorgeous and large terrace had patina from exposure to the ocean right across the street. Everything was dreamy. The courtyard has a small pool and a large jacuzzi, both were delightful. ROOM: We had the Ella Belle's Room and WOW. The details, the warmth of the decor, the high-end materials, the colors, the views.... WOW. My husband loved it because it had an Ernest Hemingway feel to it (the whole place did). Let me tell you about the bathroom... I went in there and came out a different woman. The luxury it exuded rubbed off on me. I filled my jetted tub and ran the jets, I put in a sugar bath soak that they had in there, folded one of the many plush towels to make myself a comfy headrest and I began to read. I was automatically teleported to another world. This was the first time I've ever done anything like that and now I can't stop dreaming about owning a gorgeous tub. The luxury I felt transmitted through the whole night. As I put on my plush bathrobe I stared out of my beautiful plantation shutters to the ocean and the palm trees. Bliss. Just bliss. SERVICE: The kindest, most genuinely thoughtful staff I've ever had the pleasure of encountering. I was stunned. They really made an impression on me. CONCLUSION: If you have a special occasion or you want to have a nice little getaway with your spouse then you MUST come here. There aren't any activities to do on the grounds so if you're into the party scene or action packed weekends then this place isn't for you. We spent one night and we felt that it was perfect for us. My husband and I were the youngest couple that I saw (45 & 36 y/o) but it was the perfect vibe for our romantic getaway weekend. The beach is right across the street so it was very convenient. They had beach chairs available and umbrellas. This place is just heavenly. Come here and you'll see what I am talking about. Hopefully your experience will be as blissful as mine.

Breakfasts were so tasty with a starter then a savory or sweet option. This is a savory ham and cheese casserole sandwich.

Port d'Hiver is a great place to relax whether you stick around the property or go explore the area. Staying at the resort offers a pool and hot tube, beach access, constant refreshments (definitely eat a cookie daily!), happy hour from 5-6pm, comfortable lounge areas, and outdoor fireplace for colder months. If you leave, take any of their beach equipment: chairs, umbrella, boogie board, ball toys, towels. Enjoy the beach right outside the resort or drive down to Sebastian Inlet State Park. At the resort you can also borrow bikes and we headed all around Melbourne Beach (a very cute, quite beach town). We had them service our room daily, which means the bed was made and fresh bath towels were provided. I think they also vacuumed. Included in your B&B stay is breakfast, their fresh homemade cookies, ice cream treats, canned sodas and bottled water, and happy hour from 5-6 which includes complimentary wine or beer with small bites. Breakfast was definitely a highlight which was a first course of fruit salad with a pastry side. Then you chose the sweet it savory main course (or half and half). Everything was so delicious! If you're looking into this resort, you have seen the price tag. It's worth it! We like to try new things and places and usually don't repeat locations when vacationing, BUT this is one place I hope we return to soon.

Had to write a review on this establishment. Didn't stay there as of yet, but this place looks so inviting (see picture). Situated on the corner across the street from the water. Very unique and will definitely try to stay there the next time I'm in town.

This place is adorable! The rooms are so cute and the whole property is lovely. Breakfast and snacks included. Nice pool and fire pit area. Walking distance to a beautiful beach! Rooms have private balconies. The staff are very helpful and nice. This is a gem in Melbourne.

We had a wonderful and very pleasant stay. We invited a family member and they were first time visitors and they absolutely loved the property, staff and their stay. The new owners and all of their staff is very pleasant and provided us with exceptional service. The rooms looked as beautiful as always, and the grounds are just as beautiful as well. The grounds keeper was extremely pleasant, as well, and was so cheerful each time we saw him, asked how we were enjoying our stay, etc. Lovely location, access directly across the street from the ocean.

Great food and totally able to accommodate us gluten free folks. Beautiful space to unwind and relax. Great little work out room. The ocean is right across the street too.

Beach view right across the street.

Absolutely amazing stay! The entire staff was so accommodating throughout our entire visit and the breakfasts were to die for. Very filling and an excellent variety each day. We cannot wait to come back!

From the moment we walked in we were enchanted and fell in love. The staff is friendly and super helpful. We were first given our keys which were in a bag with a UV light to kill all the germs. I have never seen that before. Erica then gave us a tour of the property and explained the complimentary Breakfast and Happy Hour they offer every day. We were staying in the Walter's Suite which is in the Main House. It is so charming we didn't want to leave. We had a welcome sign on the bed and 2 delicious cookies waiting for us. There is a large balcony facing the ocean with 2 lounge chairs, another wrap around side balcony with a table and 2 chairs and a small French Balcony you can peek out at the grounds from. The room is equipped with a Keurig and all its necessities, a small fridge, ice bucket, and wine and regular glasses. The room is serviced twice daily and nightly turn down service gives you a sweet treat on your bed... yummy brownies during our stay! Each night they offer a Happy Hour with a tray with cheese and crackers, veggies and hummus, and a pasta salad. Your choice of beverage is offered and we enjoyed the Merlot. Erica took great care of us each night. The breakfasts in the morning had a choice of coffee or tea or mimosas or juice. It began with a starter of fruit and a muffin or sweet. The zucchini bread is to die for!! For the main course there is a savory option and a sweet one. You can also get a combo of both. OMG! I was in heaven. You can also get eggs or omelettes if the daily choice is not your thing. Daisy was such a sweetheart and she took care of us every morning. It was a pleasure to get to know her. You can have your Happy Hour or Breakfast delivered to your room or anywhere on property. The location is great as it's right across the street from a beach access point and there's a few restaurants within walking distance. You can grab a beach wagon at Port D'Hiver and they have chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards for you to use. There are 2 small spas on sight and a lovely fire pit to sit around. It was truly an amazing relaxing 3 days and knowing this is only 2 hours from us we will definitely be back. Thank you everyone at Port D'Hiver!

Small business shout out, this one with a bed. Every time I stay at Port D'Hiver Bed and Breakfast I need to pinch myself. A very special place, run by very special people. Melbourne Beach is a treasure if you have never discovered it. If you are looking for a few days to reconnect with what is important. If you want to be surrounded by people who love what they do. If you want to see what one of the best bed and breakfast establishments in all the land is all about. Book a room. Come back and do it again. We have been often and can't wait until the next time. Thank you Linda and Mike and the entire staff. Y'all rock. Your home is our home and it's fantastic. So are the cookies!

First time traveling since COVID. Big milestone anniversary prompted us to do something special. Conducted extensive research and kept coming back to this B and B option. We wanted to patronize a hotel that seemed to be respecting the best cautionary practices with masks, gloves, cleaning and distancing. So we decided to give it a try. Port D'Hiver was the right choice. We are self proclaimed hotel snobs and Port d'Hiver did not disappoint. No detail is unchecked. No amenity is overlooked. I HIGHLY recommend spending the extra money to stay in the Dianne Room. The view is amazing and the shower is divine. I pretended to be unimpressed by the multi-spout contraption at first as it was a novelty but by the end of our stay, I was convincing my husband that we needed one. The only thing they do better than charm is cleanliness and during these times, what more do you need to say? Great concierge service as well. The Innkeeper hooked us up with a last minute kayak activity that was wonderful! They also made great restaurant recommendations and provide many quality beach amenities (umbrella, wagon, towels and even snacks and waters to take with you.) All of our dietary restrictions (quite a few) were met with flying colors. Everyone here seems to have that "ownership" mentality and it shows. Everywhere you turn at any time of the day, you are being beckoned to come "cozy up" into some sweet nook of the property whether it's by the outside fire or the dipping pool waterfall or the inside library solarium. Ridiculous charm. They manage to keep the historic feel with every modern feature. It's really quite impressive. The evening drinks and snacks were lovely (having gone as far as to ruin our dinner plans one night...haha) and the breakfasts alone are worth the stay. One evening I went down asking for some tea and I expected just a warmed up mug with a tea bag which would have sufficed but that is not the way they do things at the Port D'Hiver. The house attendant emerged a few minutes later from the kitchen with a lovely tray containing a formal set up inclusive of a personal tea pot, matching mug and assortment of teas and condiments. Five star service. As was their turn down service. The smallest areas of improvement are needed for the Dianne room. 1. The light coming in from the side window illuminates the whole room. Since the room is beach side, we assumed it would be pitch dark given the turtle requirements. However a light seems to be left on outside over the staff-accessible doors and it lights up the room like Time Square. Black out shade are really needed behind those shutters or much dimmer lights are needed in that area. 2. Please look into sheets by "Comphy". They are the best in the business and after experiencing them in top hotels, we use them at home too and that will help up your "sheet" game. ;) 3. There is a small amount of street noise that will affect a light sleeper so for those affected by outside noise, be prepared to set up some white noise or stream ocean sounds through your phone on the amazing BOSE Bluetooth speaker you are provided. Small issues for an otherwise very special place. We will not hesitate to return. Thank you for a weekend beyond our expectations.

Look no further than Port D'Hiver for a all around fantastic experience. We stayed two nights in the Sunrise room and could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. The property is absolutely stunning. You will not be sorry if you stay at this place, i really cannot wait until next time!! The breakfast was amazing everyday, the snacks and cocktail hour was so cute and fun! The pool was refreshing and beautiful. We booked a couples massage through the hotel and was blown away to the point of extending it to 90 minutes in the middle of the session. They have everything you need for a romantic beach getaway!

I don't even know where to begin with eating & reviewing this beautiful b&b! It exceeded our expectations before we even got there. The communication via email & phone about my dietary needs (dairy, gluten & soy free) regarding breakfast & happy hour menus was extraordinary. The hospitality, whether it was the tour of the property, the explanation of amenities we had at our finger tips, the dinner & activity reservation services they volunteered to provide, the personalized & custom drinks they'd make & serve for my needs, & the overall personalities of everyone working on the grounds was just incomparable. The food was INCREDIBLE. Do not go anywhere else for breakfast. Fully take advantage of this amazing perk. You will be completely blown away by their menu, freshness, personalized ingredients for your favor, & presentation. Whether for breakfast from 8-10:30am or happy hour from 5-6p everyday, you can have it served anywhere on property... your room, your balcony, poolside, fireside, or in the main house. It was truly beautiful everywhere. The walk to the beach is easy & their beach supplies that they provide for you to borrow makes it that much easier. We're Floridians so we have much of what we would need to have a day at the beach but we didn't have to worry about packing anything of our own besides sunscreen. Not even snacks, waters & beer! We borrowed a wagon & filled it with borrowed chairs, an umbrella, a straw mat, beach towels & purchased a "Beach Day" cooler that they filled with ice, 4 beers, a cheese plate, fruit plate, gluten free crackers & cookies. It was perfect. Everything was perfect. Truly. Even the turn down service was personalized to entertain my dietary needs with little sweet treats on our bed. We cannot wait to go back & highly HIGHLY recommend at LEAST a 3 night stay. You'll want more, but this truly was the perfect long weekend for us.

This exquisitely refurbished property, along with its manicured landscape, draped in Palm Trees and local well maintained natural flora, and its tranquility well keeps the aura, prestige and Art Deco-ish persona and spirit of the era and the location. The cottage was fabulous. The accommodations are superbly comfortable (the bed was super comfortable) and pleasant with full kitchen - and tools of a full kitchen trade (i.e., coffee maker, silverware, plates - and they offer creamer, coffee, sweetener, and then some... who does that?), a full bath (albeit small by today's standards - not a complaint mind you - leaving more room for comfort and convenience), clean, colorful and beautifully appointed throughout, nice and quiet, and the living area with plenty of room to lounge out and relax after a long day of leisure! The folks here have done a brilliant and thoughtful job of renovation and accommodation! You get your own little patio table and chairs, a small cascading water feature... and a Grill if wish the hassle - not me! Also the property offers its own sandy beach rendezvous area, a nice long dock to stroll, fish in and/or for docking your boat, the place also offers grills, and canoes and kayaks too. They state in their intro "enjoy the old Florida lifestyle" and they're absolutely right and on target. This fabulous hideaway on the Indian River (the intracoastal to the Atlantic) is a marvelous retreat locale for anyone, especially if you're a beach bum or lounger. Peaceful, tranquil and relaxing. Luckily, my daughter lives nearby, so from now on when we visit the family, we have a new place to stay. We fully recommend anyone to stay at the relaxing, leisurely and fabulous Island View Cottages in the exquisitely beautiful Florida Town of Sebastian! It's superb!

Last May, there was an article in the Herald talking about IVC in Sebastian FL, right on the Indian River. It sounded too good to be true and when I looked closer online, there were nothing but 5 star reviews! This immediately set off alarms like buying on Amazon and you look at the reviews, all 5 stars, yet all on the same date and within the same hour! Hmmm, but when checking out IVC, these appeared legit! So I got on the phone and spoke with Beth. She was very cordial and explained how careful they all were and each Cottage (while sharing neighboring walls), had their own A/C unit and separate entrance. There were sanitized with Ozone/UV light and sealed with no entry for days before your arrival. Each cottage is different (there are 12), but for us the 7 units that are pet friendly was one of best conveniences. As a dog owner, one knows that a pet can and will have an odor (no matter how hard one tries). But with the Ozone/UV cleaning, the smells are eliminated as well as COVID free, talk about win-win! The cottages vary from single rooms with kitchenette, to multi-rooms with sun porches. They all have either a full or mini fridge and microwave. Best part, you can park right outside your unit and unload, no steps or elevators to deal with! We made reservations and prayed that no Tropical Storm would ruin our Labor Day Weekend at IVC. I can't describe them all, but do check out their website, it is a perfect overview. They are small rustic cottages so keep that in mind. Upon arrival we were met by Tim and Beth, our hosts (from PA), why do I say that? Well there is just something about folks from PA, they just good people (of course I'm one too, so maybe I just recognized a good background when I see it). Tim and Beth both remained at a respectable 10 feet away (yes, it was hard not to shake hands, but sadly our new normal). They gave us the "lay of the land" and informed us that the cancelled July 4th Fireworks were rescheduled to this evening and we had prime seating on the dock! NICE! Our unit (4), was at the end, which normally I would be concern due to road noise (found out later that there were railroad tracks further west, but hardly heard the train at all), the A/C unit which needs to run constantly to keep it cool in the 90+ temps outside, masks any road and train noise. We had a dog bed and doggie towels, along with two small bowls, awaiting for our pup and best of all no old pet smells!!! Even our dog couldn't smell another dog! We unloaded the car (we always bring too much), which required leaving the door open for a long period. This left the unit warm and we were concerned that the small A/C wouldn't cool it off, but a few hours later it was good. We ordered dinner (was hoping for delivery, but the locals don't have that perfected yet, so we did pickup). Food can be a challenge during the age of COVID, but Sebastion has (as of this writing) less than 300 cases, so they don't worry too much about all that. The restaurants, while practicing safety with masks and distancing, don't do much in takeout and delivery. But the food was good and the staff was so nice and friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back and enjoy eating in just for the atmosphere. After diner it was Fireworks time and the show didn't disappoint! Tim and Beth were there too and offered a free beverage to enjoy the show. It did rain at the end, but it was a quick retreat back to our cottage. Next day I got up early, they had local ground coffee in our unit and a pot was brewed. Time for a walk to the dock with coffee and the pup. Ended up sitting there for two hours, just enjoying the river and birds. Dolphins even came by to say hello. A trip to the nearby Inlet (which also had limited entrance due to COVID) was a great way to spend the day. Could have also stayed and borrow a canoe or kayak and paddle out to the barrier island (no charge), but maybe next time. Next day was a nice walk to the local Riverview Park (just up the road). Folks were friendly and respectful of distance. What a wonderful walk with the dog and such a beautiful setting. We had to leave the next day, but not before thanking our hosts Tim and Beth. They were so warm and friendly, it made the trip feel more like visiting family, thanks so much. WE SHALL RETURN!!!
