Tiny little corner shop in a strip mall. Grab and go format (no tables). I LOVE little places like this and really got my hopes up lol. It turns out that a dragon roll ($21) here is oddly dissatisfying- veggies like cucumber and avocado are room temperature and the eel was scant. Service was friendly however and parking ample. Terrible customer service. Quality has also been on the decline, with regard to portion sizes. We ordered the #6 Combination Platter, which cost $70. This place is a pick-up only, meaning you leave immediately and drive away with your food. Upon arriving home, the platter had no wasabi. We called immediately and the person answering the phone stated he couldn't do anything and said he'd have to check with his manager. He took my name and number. I received a call back, and I asked for a partial credit to offset the fact I had just spent $70 + tip and there wasn't any wasabi. He said if I drive back I could get some, or the only other thing he could do is refund me $0.75 for the wasabi. I asked if he thought it was acceptable to send out a platter of that size and cost without wasabi, and he said "Yes." This is ridiculously unacceptable. Putting out that amount of money to receive an unfinished platter with undersized tuna nigiri and tiny tekka maki and kappa maki, was insulting. I will never risk another order here. If Ocean Sushi undervalues their product and their reputation, they certainly don't deserve my business. read more

So, we ordered 2 items the number 2 dinner plate and the number 4. First and foremost, it was a little concerning because it was literally a hole in the wall. I was okay with this since my daughter and I didn't intend on eating there. I have to say I was completely shocked at paying 66 dollars for only 2 items. They stated that the sushi was enough for 2 people (I beg to differ, it wasn't a lot and it was in the same size container as my daughter's dinner plate. So be aware you are not getting very much food for 66 bucks) The reason that I cannot give it anymore than a one star because the chicken was spoiled. There was a distinct smell of rotten food! I made my daughter throw hers away! She opened it and instantly you could smell spoiled food! The sushi was just ok. Nothing to write home about. It wasn't rolled all the way, there were parts with no rice and it was all very basic sushi so I definitely don't think it was worth 42 dollars for the sushi. There was few pieces of cucumber roll, tuna roll and California roll, so definitely nothing worth 42 dollars and nothing that tasted spectacular to warrant that cost. Plus with the chicken in my daughter's meal being spoiled. I will definitely not go back and I am considering contacting local health department about the spoiled chicken. It was so obviously spoiled.... I can't image the cook didn't notice the smell when it was so so pungent once we opened her bento box. read more

Simple and delicious food! Friendly service and cute lil shop. They have so many Japanese treats as well as prepackaged Japanese ramen for when you're having a hankering for some yummy snacks. Prices may be a bit higher than what you'd find at your typical Asian grocer however they have some good stuff here. While it isn't high end sushi, it is simply good food. We have ordered sushi frim them many times in the past. The PG location is take out only and Monterey location is barely above take out though they do have tables and chairs. The sushi is pretty good as far as takeouts go but for anyone expecting sushi bar quality, you may be disappointed. I came here an hour before closing time. I decided to swing by after having picked up lunch at the Monterey location. Unfortunately, the sushi rice was totally unseasoned which made for poor nigiri. The rice used for my roll was also not seasoned and mushy which made for a terrible taste and texture. An oasis of deliciousness for two hungry travelers. We both had the Unagi bento, rich and suuculant on an amazing bed of delicious rice. The salad was fresh and the dressing was heavenly. Even tne pickled veg was beautifully done. My wife bought a box of green tea, mild, flavorful and a bargain. Ooh, I'm not a big fan of dissing restaurants these days. Butt... I ordered a Mio Roll for lunch last Friday just for me as a take-out treat. Eel was overcooked and very dry. The tempura shrimp was just old and hard, like it had been in the fridge for many days. Salmon seemed okay. Cream cheese was excessive, as were the green onions. Maybe to mask the taste? The tobiko, while wonderfully bursting on bite, tasted a bit more fishy than I've ever had before. Add in enough ginger and wasabi, and it didn't seem so bad. Yes, I ate it because I was hungry and had just spent over $20 for this lunch "treat". After a couple hours of intense stomach pain, I ended up on the toilet with a trash bin in my lap at the same time. It was the worst food poisoning I've ever had in my life. My husband heard my retching and came to watch. No thanks. He was very concerned. After 3 episodes of this, I finally felt better. Oh goodness, I don't like to do this, but I can't contact them privately via e-mail. We've experienced other favorite restaurants this past shutdown year who try to use their old food. Um, no. NO! This place is amazing, my friend and I go here after school and buy onigiri with salmon in it. its warm, its quality food, and there never stingy on how much salmon they put in the onigiri. overall this is one of our favorite restaurants to get food at. one onigiri is filling and we love it!! we recommend going here. As other reviews mentioned, prices are higher for the quality. The PG location has a smaller menu than the Monterey location. The service isn't swift unless you order hot food. I mostly come here for the groceries (Hawaiian soda drinks, hapi cracker mix, nori, etc.). They also offer some ready made food in the fridge that can be sushi or a pickled dish. I stumbled across this place a little while ago and have been coming back since! It isn't the most glamorous place because it is the owners' flagship store. The sushi chef is truly such a nice man and the sushi and sashimi is not overpriced. The food is delicious and they also have a wide variety of beverages and snacks, as well as mochi ice cream and taiyaki (a delicious Japanese red bean waffle dessert in the form of little fish)! I highly recommend ordering any udon, as it is the perfect food to eat on a cold day, or the UnaKyu roll for any unagi-lovers out there. A very small place without any seat. You have to order from the menu on the wall/window. Almost everything is made to order except a couple of the cold dishes (e.g. sushi only, no hot stuff) will already be made and put on the deli case. There are some Japanese snacks and drinks for sale as well. I grab a today's sushi special from the deli case and surprised to say that the fish is very fresh (can't tell that I took it out of the fridge) and the way the fish is cut is professional (you can tell the sushi chef is a "trained" sushi chef). My friend ordered a dinner special that has a hot item, but the wait for it to be prepared isn't that long, probably about 5 minutes. It's located in a small building next to the corner strip mall. I would recommend just park in the corner strip mall and walk over there as that is even closer than as if you park in the parking spots for this building. read more
