I got the fried jumbo shrimp, fried scallops and fried whiting. Everything had the fried look and taste I've been longing for since moving out of NY. I ordered takeout here and was greatly impressed. I got the chicken tenders and shrimp dinner with a potato wedges and salad. It was amazing! The food was hot and very well seasoned. I loved that they gave me a variety of sauces-honey mustard, cocktail, ranch, and a great cinnamon butter. I didn't have to ask it came automatically. Walked in at 8:50pm and was told they were closed even though it's listed as 9pm closing time.

The greeter or Not so much, stood behind her front desk. As we approached to go seat our selves, she them came with 2 menus and seated us. She Never said a word. After about 10 mins. then a women came and took our drink order. Two waters, one with lemons. Another 10 mins, she then took our order. My wife ordered a salad, which they brought out with our seafood order. Usually your salad comes out many mins. before the main meal, which if you eat your salad first, then your meal gets cold. It was warm, not that great and my loaded potato had cheese on it that looked very hard and dry. No way you are putting butter or sour cream through that. Our server who was Copeland was not talkative, only came to ask how we were doing twice and the last time was to bring our bill. Also, no salt or pepper on our table and they serve little packets in condiment plastic containers. Very low quality of a restaurant. As, I said our server was not talkative and did not even thank us for coming. When I approached the so called greeter behind the front register, she told me I was to pay my bill with my server, Which she was no where to be found. After about 5-8 mins. no one came out from the kitchen area, so I just left my bill with my cash payment on our table. As we left I told the so called greeter that I left it on our table. POOR QUALITY OF FOOD, UNHAPPY SERVER, DIRTY RESTROOM, and EVERYONE acted very UNFRIENDLY. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK THERE TO EAT. I would give them a ZERO. read more

Well I was really impressed. I could have sworn I ate here years ago, and thought it was just okay, perhaps that was a different restaurant. I know this place has been a few different things through the years. I can recall eating here when it was the Western Steer back in the 80s. The place seemed clean, and welcoming. My folks were wanting seafood, and we thought we'd give this place a shot. We got there early so it was not crowded, but by the time we left the place was really hopping. There are a lot of specials, including daily specials and lunch specials. Most everything leans a little toward fried seafood, but there are options for broiled or grilled. Also plenty of non seafood options like steaks, burgers, or chicken. I had the catfish fillet and I was really impressed. It was salt and peppered and delicious. The baby shrimp were fine, and the fried okra was tasty. They have these hushpuppies that look like onion rings, and taste almost like a donut, with honey butter for dipping. I think everyone at the table got shrimp and fish so I can't speak to the variety of the food. My wife, the vegetarian was able to get several sides, and she was satisfied with them. The also have some decent appetizers at good prices. We had the blooming onion, and no one at the table had any complaints. The waitress was attentive and very friendly. She even brought my mom a slice of cheesecake for her 82nd birthday. read more

Well normally I LOVE this place. Today at lunch I had my first bad experience. They have done away with all of their lunch specials except the Monday deal. The little girl who took my phone in order did not listen to me. I had to tell her 3 times their were 2 separate orders. When I walked in no one even acknowledged me or even said hello. She waited until she had seated at least 2 groups of people who came in the door after me to come ask if she could help me. Not sure that would have happened if I hadn't walked up to the podium like I wanted a table. The plates were strewn with much smaller amount and pieces of fish (like literally half the size.) I've seen better looking plates at Captain D's. Luckily the food was still good. That was the only saving grace for my lunch today. guess this economy is just going to keep ravaging our good businesses until someone does something about it. Came here on a random Wednesday and was pleasantly surprised. Service was really good! Food was priced fair. And portion size was big and I like the circle shaped hush puppies. The food was sooo fresh and amazing. Chicken tenders were even better than they look. Salmon was better than some 5 star restaurants. Started coming to ocean view in the recent weeks I brought my mother tonight. Food was very good and fair priced, the atmosphere was very livley, busy establishment, our waitresses was on top of it, she endured the rudest behavior from a neighboring table including racial comments to her face but still met us with a smile and complete professionalism. I got the ocean view special... it's basically a sampler. The food came out fast and hot as there weren't many people dining in. The hush puppies look like onion rings so that was cool. My only real gripe was my waitress took my order/brought me my food and never came back to my table. I never got a drink refill, didn't check to see if I was happy with the food or anything. The food is good overall. It really depends on your taste however in my opinion. Finding good cooked fresh seafood can be a challenge but this local establishment does a good job overall. It is not the best we have ever had but it definetely is better than many places. The service is always good when you visit and they will customize your food for you. Most of the options are fried but there are some broiled options but I would prefer more. The side salad is not large and for some would be considered on the small side. But overall it is a good meal for those looking for some seafood. We have had the fried shrimp, broiled scallops and broiled flounder. So we decided to dine in...we were actually looking forward to eating here since the dining room was open. So the non personality waitress showed up. Took our order and we waited. While we were sitting there I could not help but notice the old uncomfortable seats,the dirty tables and the overall feeling of a bad movie set. Kinda got the feeling that they didn't care. That being said they brought out the food quickly,almost too quick. I never like that. Immediately we noticed the baked potato on my wife's plate is half the size of mine. My wife was visibly frustrated. So when I said something to miss NP she said 'I'm pretty sure they won't change it out'. Really??? I'm still trying to understand that one. It's not just what she said,but how she said it. Then the other dippy waitress brings out 2 knives,no forks or spoons and sets the dirty knifes on the dirty table without even having it wrapped in a napkin. Gross. Plus my drink cup has a huge chip in it at the top where I would be drinking out of. Sorry...real men don't use straws. At this point I'm just gonna cut my losses and bag it up to go!! Well... seemed like a good idea. Lol. NOPE!!! Management comes out and I tried to be calm,and reasonable and briefly explain the situation to no avail. He throws a hissy fit and basically asks me to leave. Holy moly! Are you kidding me?!?! I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager. Initially, I was put on hold to await the manager(1-2 mins), but subsequently told that Paul the manager who also doubles as the owner was busy. The server/cashier/ greeter???(not sure of her role) insisted upon hearing my complaint. I expressed EXACTLY what should be relayed to PAUL. She became a bit flippant when I stated that a yelp review is going to be posted, and I am never returning to their establishment. I came in for oysters but after seeing the 17.99 price tag I had the flounder and baby shrimp with fries lunch special for 7.99. It comes with coleslaw and ring shaped hush puppies. The baby shrimp were really delicious, very tender, not at all chewy. The flounder somehow tasted watery and the fries were kinda cold. The tarter sauce was tasty with a hint of sweetness and I left full from the baby shrimp and sweet tea. read more
