We were in town for one day and booked a reservation at this restaurant at the recommendation of someone who lives nearby. It was a good experience. There are several different dining areas to choose from. Our original plan was to sit outside on the patio with a beautiful view of the state house. However, after walking outside for about a half hour we decided it was way too hot to sit outside so we switched our reservation to the main dining room. There are also tables available in the bar area. The ambiance in the dining room was very nice with good music playing as well. The menu offers appetizers, salads, soups, steaks, and a few seafood items. I opted for the scallops with vegetable risotto. It was a delicious dish. My husband had the filet mignon with sautéed spinach. He also loved his dinner. Service was fairly quick and professional.

Classic chophouse offerings well executed in an energetic space. Seafood tower is a good way to start and there's great flavor on dry aged ribeye.

I love this restaurant. I've had nearly every item on the menu at this point. The wait staff has been fantastic (special thanks to Andy) for every one of my visits. They are pretty accommodating for walk-ins. The mood is always right with the live music at night and dim lighting in their back dining rooms. The only bad experience I've had was with the burger that came out a little too rare.

Came for dinner while in town. One of the most expensive restaurants I have been too outside a major city or Las Vegas. Nice steakhouse atmosphere. Service was overwhelming. We started with drinks and bread service. Ordered Calamari, Ceaser salad, lobster Mac and Cheese, NY Strip, 8 oz filet and loaded mashed potatoes. Huge meal for 2 people. All the food was very good and came out very nice. But beware the cheapest steak is $60 an that was the filet!

Although I have eaten at this gem before, this was my first Sunday brunch. There were several options, but my server recommended the French toast! Omg! Who created this heavenly masterpiece? Thick, Texas toast dipped in crushed-corn flakes making the perfect crunchy-soft melt in your mouth explosion. Also served with three strips of thick bacon. Y'all I have been thinking about this French toast all week. My server was the best. She was spot on, not overly checking in, but always making contact to let me know if I needed something she was near. The ambiance is classy. That's how I feel when I dine at Hall's. The servers are the best, when you leave they are all lined up to say their goodbyes. Next time I'm going to dance to the exit! Oh yeah, they had a little band this particular Sunday. Don't miss out on having a Hall's Chophouse experience!

Walked in late with no reservations and was accommodated right away. The Martini's were exceptional, large, and really well priced. We shared the crab cake as an appetizer and shared a filet and ravioli. All were delicious and cooked perfectly.

My friends and I went to Hall's on November 10th for my birthday dinner, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, the pineapple martini was a standout favorite, and the service was excellent. We enjoyed it so much that my friends immediately started planning our next visit.

So this was our first time, we came for lunch, and so much was off. The manager was amazing, he took care of us, but we weren't satisfied. Well come back at dinner to try other things out, simply because of the manager.

I met here with 2 colleagues for a business meeting, The service was fabulous, the corn and Brussels sprout sides were next level. I got a 16oz dry aged ribeye and 2oz of the Japanese Wagyu. Absolutely fantastic. I saw they have a steak hot dog, and plan to be back for lunch soon!

I love Hall's! I went during brunch hours (the best time to go) and ordered all my favs: calamari , caesar salad and the corn skillet. The calamari is so good! Fried perfectly and the sweet chilli sauce on top is the perfect. It's also served with a green sauce (which this was first time having) and it was good as well!! Hall's has THEE best Caesar salad. The anchovies on top along with red peppers and a Parmesan crisp is so perfect! Lastly, the corn skillet ..I recommend sharing because it's big. If I remember correctly our waitress was Sara and she was very friendly and attentive...great personality! Can't wait to go back!

Ask the Community - Halls Chophouse - Columbia

Two questions, is this a rooftop restaurant? And if so, is there good views of Columbia?

No. It's not a rooftop restaurant. However, it is located across the street from the State Capital, and has a very good view. There is an outdoor covered area also.

Is there a dress code for dining on the patio for dinner?

No, not really. But don't come dressed all sloppy or anything.

If dining outdoors, do they allow dogs?

Yes. In the summer when they have the outdoor area open without any plastic or anything else, dogs are allowed outdoors.

Are they still operating under COVID restrictions?

Staff wears masks and you are asked to so when not at your table. They have an abundance of hand sanitizers including a small bottle at your table.

Is brunch on Saturday too, or just Sunday? Website is not clear.

The brunch is only on Sundays. The food is wonderful!

Does this location have a happy hour with specials?

    Yes they do.

Does the Columbia location serve the Sunday Gospel Brunch?

Funny that you ask, I've asked that same question. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I will find out.

How do you make a reservation on Yelp?

    Book with Resy

    What are the operating hours?

Hello! We are open for dinner Mon - Sat 4pm - 11pm and for lunch Mon - Sat 11am - 2:30pm.

When will their website be live. There is nowhere to see entire menu?

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

The place is very well air conditioned, and the space is very intentional. Visiting from out of state the waitress seemed a bit shy/new but curious about Wisconsin she warmed up a little bit. It's really cool that you can see the chefs in their element behind a glass wall while you wait. The silverware, or should I say Goldwear was beautiful. I started out with the All American Spritz- it was good but nothing extraordinary. However when I tried the pistachio martini, I was in disbelief! I was skeptical to order it as I've never even heard of one before and was unsure how pistachio would translate into a martini. It was creamy and somehow savory and sweet at the same time, the alcohol taste was nonexistent. And the rim was coated in pistachio crumbs. Both the drinks presentation was beautiful. I personally ordered the bbq chicken sandwhich, with mac and cheese instead of fries for the side. The sandwich was smoky, I could not stop eating it! If anyone was wondering what so special about the mac and cheese, it's the name of the noodles. And yes, the waitress will sound it out with you lol! The Mac and cheese wasn't creamy, and I found it a bit bland unfortunately. There was no order the same in the group I came with. The truffle fries were on the thinner crispier side, neat that there were different color of potatoes used. The duck wings came out like their very own presentation. I tried the alligator bites, that were served with 2 sauces, I thought there were kind of chewy , and weird enough I guess I have a preference with how my alligator is served since having tried some at the Wisco State fair. I love that the menu feels curated, you know what you're there for and it's not overwhelming to pick from the options of something new. The bathroom was very cute too! And the bar area was lit up, a cool atmosphere.

That created a slightly rushed feeling right from the start of the experience. When the food arrived, it was not served hot. The fries were seasoned but came out cold, so we had to send them back. The service also felt a bit disengaged, as though the server was ready to wrap things up, even though there was still about 30 to 45 minutes before closing time. That said, once the food was remade and served hot, it was really good. My salad, however, was not the same experience, as the lettuce had brown spots throughout, which took away from the overall quality. You can tell the kitchen has potential when the food is prepared properly, but consistency is the issue. The ambience is very cool and visually appealing. It is a bit dark for my personal preference in the evening, but I can imagine it being bright and beautiful during the daytime. The cocktail I ordered was just okay and didn't really stand out. Overall, there is definitely potential here, but improvements in consistency, service attentiveness, and food quality control would really elevate the experience.
