    Lavender scented Brioche French Toast
    Mark R.

Our party of four was fairly satisfied with our brunch. Most everyone agreed that the food and especially the coffee could've benefited from a higher temperature. The problem with the coffee was the cream. It should probably be served around room temperature. Because the creamer was so cold several of our party had to ask for frequent warm-ups. Our server, Kristen, was very personable, pleasant and accommodating. A couple of us ordered Bellini's and mimosas. My Bellini was just OK. My standards are high, since I've had them in Venice, Italy. The Hall's Bellini was not very tasty and on the watery side. My wife tried to order the sweet potato pancakes, but they were out. So she was disappointed, and ended up with the lavender scented brioche French toast. She thought it was OK but was seeking a stronger flavor. I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy. I don't order this very often, but there was a good portion of sausage and the flavor of the sausage was enjoyable without being too salty. Our daughter ordered crab cake Eggs Benedict which features a creole sauce. She enjoyed it, but the temperature of the dish could have been hotter. Our niece's daughter had the farmers omelette with the apple sage sausage. The apple-sage sausages were excellent (I got to sample one) and a very good deal. The ambience of Halls is always great. The service is usually quite good and the food is usually excellent. This is our second brunch at Halls and I'll have to say that our first brunch experience was a little bit better for the reasons noted above. I still rate it the best brunch in town.

The place to go for a Fine Dining experience in Columbia, SC is Halls Chophouse.... Service at its finest, food that meets the pallet of foodies seeking high quality cuisines that are prepared with excellence by qualified chefs. The menu may change periodically, but everything we have selected was great.... The Roast Duck (10), The Lamb Chops (10+) , The chilean Sea Bass (9.5), Crab Cakes (7).... The atmosphere is always inviting and a professional environment.. The cost is PRICEY $$$ but in line with the quality of the food and service.... Highly Recommend the experience!! Rating: 9.6/10

Lychee martini ....no lychee . Disappointing, but everything else was great . Wish server would have told me prior to bringing. Service good. Steak cooked wonderfully. Greens are amazing. And the lobster Mac is always a show stopper

We were in town for one day and booked a reservation at this restaurant at the recommendation of someone who lives nearby. It was a good experience. There are several different dining areas to choose from. Our original plan was to sit outside on the patio with a beautiful view of the state house. However, after walking outside for about a half hour we decided it was way too hot to sit outside so we switched our reservation to the main dining room. There are also tables available in the bar area. The ambiance in the dining room was very nice with good music playing as well. The menu offers appetizers, salads, soups, steaks, and a few seafood items. I opted for the scallops with vegetable risotto. It was a delicious dish. My husband had the filet mignon with sautéed spinach. He also loved his dinner. Service was fairly quick and professional.

Classic chophouse offerings well executed in an energetic space. Seafood tower is a good way to start and there's great flavor on dry aged ribeye.

I love this restaurant. I've had nearly every item on the menu at this point. The wait staff has been fantastic (special thanks to Andy) for every one of my visits. They are pretty accommodating for walk-ins. The mood is always right with the live music at night and dim lighting in their back dining rooms. The only bad experience I've had was with the burger that came out a little too rare.

Came for dinner while in town. One of the most expensive restaurants I have been too outside a major city or Las Vegas. Nice steakhouse atmosphere. Service was overwhelming. We started with drinks and bread service. Ordered Calamari, Ceaser salad, lobster Mac and Cheese, NY Strip, 8 oz filet and loaded mashed potatoes. Huge meal for 2 people. All the food was very good and came out very nice. But beware the cheapest steak is $60 an that was the filet!

Hall's French toast served with thick cut bacon and their pop out rolls.

Although I have eaten at this gem before, this was my first Sunday brunch. There were several options, but my server recommended the French toast! Omg! Who created this heavenly masterpiece? Thick, Texas toast dipped in crushed-corn flakes making the perfect crunchy-soft melt in your mouth explosion. Also served with three strips of thick bacon. Y'all I have been thinking about this French toast all week. My server was the best. She was spot on, not overly checking in, but always making contact to let me know if I needed something she was near. The ambiance is classy. That's how I feel when I dine at Hall's. The servers are the best, when you leave they are all lined up to say their goodbyes. Next time I'm going to dance to the exit! Oh yeah, they had a little band this particular Sunday. Don't miss out on having a Hall's Chophouse experience!

Walked in late with no reservations and was accommodated right away. The Martini's were exceptional, large, and really well priced. We shared the crab cake as an appetizer and shared a filet and ravioli. All were delicious and cooked perfectly.

My friends and I went to Hall's on November 10th for my birthday dinner, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, the pineapple martini was a standout favorite, and the service was excellent. We enjoyed it so much that my friends immediately started planning our next visit.

So this was our first time, we came for lunch, and so much was off. The manager was amazing, he took care of us, but we weren't satisfied. Well come back at dinner to try other things out, simply because of the manager.

Ask the Community - Halls Chophouse - Columbia

Two questions, is this a rooftop restaurant? And if so, is there good views of Columbia?

No. It's not a rooftop restaurant. However, it is located across the street from the State Capital, and has a very good view. There is an outdoor covered area also.

Is there a dress code for dining on the patio for dinner?

No, not really. But don't come dressed all sloppy or anything.

If dining outdoors, do they allow dogs?

Yes. In the summer when they have the outdoor area open without any plastic or anything else, dogs are allowed outdoors.

Are they still operating under COVID restrictions?

Staff wears masks and you are asked to so when not at your table. They have an abundance of hand sanitizers including a small bottle at your table.

Is brunch on Saturday too, or just Sunday? Website is not clear.

The brunch is only on Sundays. The food is wonderful!

Does this location have a happy hour with specials?

    Yes they do.

Does the Columbia location serve the Sunday Gospel Brunch?

Funny that you ask, I've asked that same question. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I will find out.

How do you make a reservation on Yelp?

    Book with Resy

    What are the operating hours?

Hello! We are open for dinner Mon - Sat 4pm - 11pm and for lunch Mon - Sat 11am - 2:30pm.

When will their website be live. There is nowhere to see entire menu?

Now here comes the funny part:) I told him I wanted the Black Bean Burger without the lettuce and tomato, but instead he ordered me just the patty with cheese and mayo with no buns! Instead of him asking the correct way, he asked for it as just the patty only, haha I was too tickled to be mad. Even though he missed it, it was so good! When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!
