We really enjoyed this aquarium on our trip. It wasn't a planned stop, one my kids found an ad for and insisted we NEEDED to go check out, even though we'd already been to two other planned aquariums along the Pacific Coast Hwy. This one was the best out of the 3, didn't regret it for a second. They run their aquarium as a tour, 45 min long. On a busy weekend, we didn't wait more than 15min waiting for our tour. We browsed the gift shop while waiting and since they had competitive prices for the same things in comparison to the other aquariums, I told my kids they could each pick their souvenir for the trip from this shop. Once on the tour, we had PLENTY of time at each of the stops along the tour - a touch tank with plenty of room for the small group they allow on each tour; then we entered a boat which was the setting for the majority of the aquariums; then a shark petting tank with shark eggs you could also handle; and then trained seals and sea lions to do a show at the end. All the animals seemed to have ample room and seemed to be treated well. The shark loved to be petted and it wasn't hard to get lots of turns doing that. There were several photo ops. Love the small groups and the informative tour guides! Great way to go through an aquarium. I think we learned a lot more than if we would've had to read a bunch of little signs. read more

I don't remember our aquarium guide's name, but she was friendly and knowledgeable. She didn't care if I licked the anemone but warned me that my tongue would go numb if I did. I decided to not lick the slimey sea creature. My 15 month old daughter loved the sea lions! We will definitely be back to visit Cora the sea lion. I recommend Ocean World and I urge you to tip your guide at least 20 dollars. read more

This is truly a family favorite. We live a couple hours away but make sure to stop in at least once a year. The staff are always so knowledgeable and friendly. The place is always clean and well kept. The seals and sea lions put on a great show and are always adorable. It is a little pricey but that hasn't stopped us from enjoying ourselves. read more

We were driving through and stumbled upon this great place. The tour was about 1 hour long and our guide really knew and loved what he did. He trains also the sea lions and does a great job with the show. He was very knowledgable on all of the areas we asked. We got to pet sharks and see some great fish etc. larger place than it looks like from the outside! Great gift shop too! I would highly recommend to stop by here! read more

This was our first stop on our day trip from Southern Oregon. We did not book our large group in advance so there was a bit of a wait but they were nice enough to fit us in and we got our own private tour. We started in the touch tide pool room where we got to touch sea anemone and starfish. We then went down stairs to the aquarium and saw fish, crabs and stingrays. Next is upstairs to touch the tiger sharks. That was pretty cool. There are also some fun photo ops up there as well. After that is the final stop, the sea lion show. Our guide had some trouble at this point. One of the sea lions didn't want to leave. Finally we got under way and it was really impressive all the tricks they did. I am not big on animals for entertainment. I wish the guide would have told us a little more about the sea lions, how they got them, etc. We were a little rushed at the end because it took so long for the show to start or I would have asked. Our guide did a good job of teaching us about all the sea life we saw. The whole tour was much shorter than I expected but we had a great time and it is still a good deal for the price. read more

We took the tour, and it was amazing! Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We got to pet sharks, hold shark eggs, see tons of stingrays, and watch a great seal show! The seals sang, danced, and even played basketball. Overall, a great experience. read more

This was a great time for the whole family. Very educational and loved the ability to get up close to the sea animals. Ocean world was a great place to take my kids. And I enjoyed it too. Like another review said, the sea lion and seal show is well worth it. If I could, I'd make this rating 2.5 stars. Yes, this is a small, well-kept aquarium. Displays are interesting, and the tour staff is knowledgeable. However, we felt ripped off. No one told us that the only chance to view the displays or interact with the touch pool and shark-touch exhibit were as part of the "tour." Our "tour" was barely 35 minutes. Our three kids were rushed through the entire experience by staff. Barely 5 minutes at the touch pool, then rushed through the aquariums, then rushed through the shark room. The lengthiest stop was to watch the seal & sea lion show, which they enjoyed. When the next "tour" departed we asked if the kids could see the exhibits again, and were told no... unless we wanted to pay the admission price again. This was extremely frustrating... it was 2 pm on a winter Tuesday afternoon, and only a few people were lined up for the next "tour." Considering we had already paid almost $50 for barely 30 minutes in the aquarium, this response was downright insulting. And we had driven 90 minutes to Crescent City just to see Ocean World, and had made this trip one of the Christmas presents for our kids. I am very disappointed in our experience. Two days later, our kids are still asking why they couldn't see more of the fish in the aquariums. Shame on you, Ocean World, for the way you treated us. Hopefully you don't treat everyone like this. read more

Wow...this place is way better than it looks from the outside. It was a great stop and break along our 500 mile road trip. The 3 year old really enjoyed herself. We are locals here in Crescent City. It's a nice place with a nice gift shop. Tourists enjoy it. Beware, however! If your child wants the tube of sour candy powder, make sure you pay attention and make sure the tube is filled. I didn't. We walked outside to take a picture. I realized my grandchildren hadn't completely filled the tube. Walked back in. Told the counter girl what happened. She basically said too bad. Left a message for the owner to call me. I recently took my 4 adult grandchildren to Ocean World. I was part of the pink tour group with Dean. Dean was obviously passionate about his work with the sea stars and anemones. I loved being part of something so special. We made long lasting memories and fell in love with Marina the elderly seal. I will definitely be coming back soon. Great job Ocean World. read more

We took the kids here while in town. Was super cool, the sea lion show was awesome, my boyfriend took videos we all laughed so much. Petting sharks was cool too, and the kids all got shark teeth in the gift shop. Was fun to take a picture of the real Sponge Bob also which is just a sea sponge haha! I would give this place 3.5 if I could. This would be a decent stop if you have kids, but if you've ever been to an actual aquarium this place could be missed. They have a pretty good sea lion show, however, and their staff was good. Honestly, this place felt like an excuse to have a gift shop, and was not worth the money in my opinion. read more

Excellent aquarium. Knowledgeable guides who can thoroughly answer questions about the animals on display and in general in the area. The displays have large tanks and a healthy variety of animals. The shark petting experience was excellent and is a great example of who personal the experience is for visitors. The seal show finale was very entertaining and informative. If you are a gift shop person there is a wide variety of products to browse before and after the show. read more

Stopped into Ocean World on a whim. We were greeted as we walked through the door by a very personable woman at the counter. She quickly had us signed up for a tour. We browsed a large selection in the gift shop until our tour started. Once the tour began, we were led through a number of different exhibits by a knowledgeable and engaging guide. He made sure to connect with each person on the tour including a little girl who couldn't quite decide how she was feeling about all the animals. He was particularly great when he was working with the seals and sea lions. He was always aware of his audience as well as the animals in the show. Very cute and entertaining show! After the tour, a new woman at the counter was extremely nice and helpful. This last minute addition to our day was totally worth the reasonable price and I'd suggest it to anyone who enjoys marine life, petting sharks, animal shows and a staff who truly makes patrons feel welcome and entertained! read more

Came here today with my kids. Staff was very friendly during the tour and was able to answer all of our crazy questions about the marine life. The kids had such a great time petting the sea stars and sharks. The seal and sea lion show were great and the Gift Shop was amazing! Absolutely amazing. The shark-petting and the seals was something I've never experienced before in any other Aquarium. The sharks were adorable! I thought I'd never say a shark was adorable.
