This Petco is located in the same plaza as Trader Joe's and Carhartt. This Petco also has a Vetco, which is what brought my husband, our little girl dog and I to come because our little girl had gotten fleas at the hotel that we had stayed the night before (truly a nightmare while traveling). The Vetco is right by the front entrance of this Petco, just make a left after you come in. We were greeted by a nice and friendly employee behind the counter. She helped checked us in and also greeted our little girl. She took her weight and then ushered us to an examination room. After that, a vet tech took some of our little girl's vitals and also did a physical exam. Then we waited for the vet. This veterinarian was excellent. He was friendly and very sweet to our little girl dog. He did not dismiss our concerns and listened intently. We have gone to other veterinarians where I felt that they didn't really listen or were not forth coming in what they were trying to tell us. They also did not treat our other dogs as nicely. I recall the veterinarian who abruptly touched our male dog's mouth to look at his teeth and said they were moderately dirty, which was not true, as we are very good about brushing our dog's teeth every night. He had hardly looked at his mouth (but another veterinarian we had seen at the same facility had praised us for such clean teeth on a separate visit). This veterinarian we had on this visit to Vetco was the complete opposite and greatly appreciate his kindness towards us and our little girl. We ended up getting 2 months worth of flea medication and were on our way. We were also given this veterinarian's business card in case we had trouble with purchasing any additional flea medication online (Since it is usually cheaper than getting them at the vet's office). Overall, this Vetco was excellent and the care our little girl received was truly the best. read more

Store isles are always over crowded with junk. Clearly not ADA compliant. The staff is unfriendly unhelpful and won't give two sh*ts especially the manager Kendra. Management can't seem to keep store shelves full of the better quality food. The store before the remodel was excellent. Staff was friendly knowledgeable, but since the new manager has taken over replaced the good staff, the place has gone down hill. read more

Asked for a bath brush and blow dry. Picked him up and they trimmed his chest, feet, and underside. We Didn't ask for the trim at all. The trim is choppy. They cut his poor peepee (which he won't stop licking to make better now). They didn't tell me about the cuts which is the most frustrating part. They didn't call to confirm what we wanted. And he's still wet in certain areas. Not recommended. ...upon taking to management they were very receptive and compassionate towards my concerns. Gibbs the fluffy, pure bred, pedigreed, AKC registered, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, 13 yrs of age. When we brought him in for grooming we described exactly how a fluffy corgi needs to be cut. We physically pointed to the limits of trim to his long coat. Explained no trimming on top of his coat. We showed pictures of his last grooming to show his belly and protection of his undercoat. The woman groomer named Robin said she under stood and 3 1/2 hours later we are horrified to see what has been done to Gibbs. Gibbs is a part of our volunteer work for Oregon State Parks and a National Park "Bark Ranger". Not only is he traumatized but the temperature in Medford dropped to 19 deg last night. How egregious is this? We have used Petco in our full time travels across the country with nothing other than good service. How could this have happened? Stopped in Monday for a particular brand of dog food that they carry but they had none on the shelf. Asked a stocker about it who said it was probably in back but hadn't been unwrapped yet. Clerk said probably in a couple days. No one offerred to go in back and look. Came back Friday, still not on shelf. Asked the clerk but she didn't "know" anything. Bought a bag of $21.99 cat food, it rang up over $35.00. Told the clerk this, she didn't offer to check the price at the shelf, only what it rang up as. We didn't buy it, went to Petsmart and got it for $21.99. Employees here are lazy, items are overpriced, we will not be back, will go to Petsmat or Chewy. read more

My dog has surgery on his leg and the vet did not provide anything to protect the incision. I called Petco to ask if they had anything that could cover my dog's leg. The manager answered and told me they had doggie PJs which might help. When I arrived at the store, she showed me where they were. I have now put them on my dog, and he is protected. I am very grateful for this kind woman's help. She is also very knowledgeable about the various products in the store. read more

I don't know who they let cut her but not only did they have no clue what they were doing they actually cut her skin in several places. How this company stays in business baffles me. I buy a bunch of stuff online and one item I need to exchange for a different size. The first time I try to return it the computers were down, the second time none of the staff working knew how to return an online item back to my card and I had to get in-store credit. This place was nasty! I have never see a major chain pet store this disgusting. The ferret cage had huge plies of feces in several corners piled inches deep. The large snake cages were all full of feces as well. The smaller reptiles had beetles in them. If you aren't aware, those beetles are what super works turn into. Petco has a decent rewards program that keeps me returning. This particular store is small - seems to have high turnover because there's always new faces weekly and so it doesn't have consistency always in people that can help out. I do shop their competition and since it is encouraged that a customer speaks up to price match- I do. I sometimes get people saying it's no problem then I get people giving me attitude. So again, it's having constant new employees that don't quite get the whole great customer service experience that make me not give 5 stars. I hope if anyone from Petco reads reviews at all that they see they have potential - but new employees constantly kinda is a bummer. read more

I come in weekly for cat food, litter and crickets for my tarantula.. today I had an encounter with an employee that I just HAD to share. I have always just gotten my crickets myself after experiencing employees act as if I was bothering them by asking for help getting a few (not like it's hard) or having them send me towards the half dead ones already in bags. TODAY I was approached by a young man, gingerish hair and beard (Anthony, I believe) that had the biggest attitude about me getting some crickets out of their case. He asked me if I was a doctor or a lawyer, because I must be to feel entitled enough to retrieve my own CRICKETS. How dare I? I have never had an issue before. I wish I wouldn't have been so taken aback otherwise he would have gotten an earful. All I said was that I had never been told not to do so, and that it wasn't as if I was going to steal some $.16 crickets. He responded with, "well, I'm not the one who said it." Nice power trip man, over some crickets. Next time, maybe just a "ma'am, may I help you with those? We prefer to get them out if you don't mind", would suffice. I never post reviews about retail stores, but this guy needs to go. I recommend his next job not be in the customer service field - I've been sitting in the parking lot for almost an hour FUMING and telling myself not to go back in there. I have spent thousands of dollars on food, accessories, etc. with Petco.I bought a cat carrier which turned out to be too small. Unused, still had all the stickers on it. I was 10 days over there a 30 day policy so I can totally understand that I don't get a cash refund but that they wouldn't give me store credit?I don't understand Petsmart and other competitors are all 90 days and have worked with me for store credit, they get the product back,I spend the money with the company and most of all, I'm a satisfied and happy customer and I continue to spend my money there. I don't think there's any oversight on this particular store but if there is it happened today, so whoever the manager was.(Medford , I even explain to them that I've been out of state firefighting on an inciden). I made an appointment and was told my older dog was on file but my younger dog needed to bring an updated shot record. I brought it with me. When I got there I was told it was the other way around and I needed my older dogs shot record. My vet was closed, and then they said they couldn't read the vaccine record which clearly had the date written. I will not choose grooming here again. read more

This place is the Island of Unhappy Clerks. I have been in here three times and each time my interaction with a clerk is frustrating or weird. There is something going on with management here because happy clerks don't treat customers badly. I read the other reviews and commiserate with the writers. Then everyone gets the same reply from some robot named Jennifer. The Petco in Spokane Washington's northside was fantastic so I know it isn't the store. Clerks who insult customers, ignore them or can't answer a question are not being trained correctly. And if they are just plain stupid, which I rather doubt, they need a different career. Paid over 100 dollars to enroll in a basics-level dog training course. The trainer was a no show on one occasion, canceled last minute on several other occasions, and the Petco itself never provided a replacement when she went on leave (or so they told us). MISERABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I had a return and a purchase and waited for a few minutes for someone to even bother to step up at the register. When Kandi finally arrived, after discovering I had a return, she immediately got huge attitude and decided that she had to pay attention to a guy at the next register who had just arrived and ran off to *help* him. I waited a few more minutes and no one showed up. In the meantime, I had wandered a bit and had to get in line again. When Kandi was finished with the guy she just dumped me for, instead of helping me she ran in the office to hide. The second cashier, Suzanne, upon discovering I had a return, immediately decided that a couple at another register needed help desperately and she tried to run off to *help* them. They were filling out a form and not even purchasing anything. I managed to stop her and told her the previous cashier tried to do the same thing to me, whereupon she did have the delayed courtesy of apologizing. Jeez. What is wrong with this place?? I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. After reading other reviews, especially from former staff (thanks, Rachel!) I most certainly will never shop here again. Another big box competitor, Pet Smart, has outstanding customer service and there are always enough staff on the floor and cashiers who aren't afraid of a bit of extra work. The grooming depart is hard to get a hold of anyone. No one is ever there and their website doesn't work. They have a high turn over rate. I don't come to Petco for grooming, vet visits, or food. I come here for the occasional junk-food treats for my dog and cat. They've always got their shelves pretty well stocked, which is nice. The bags of food and treats and such are always pretty well stocked and faced and organized for the most part! They are never out of the cans I want which is super nice. I get the occasional Tiki Dog or Tiki Cat, maybe a Merrick stew of some kind, or the rare super junk fancy feast or Blue Buffalo for the dog if I want to give them a treat. Pretty good selection of other bulk-like treats like bully sticks and tracheas and such. It's also great socialization for my shy dog to come here. The employees aren't THAT attentive... I have never been asked if I need help finding anything or if I have any questions... They're always just hanging out by the cash registers, and don't greet me (at least all the times I've come here) when I walk in. They are always really understanding of my dog, though. They never try to force my dog to go say hi to them which is nice because way too many people do that and it terrifies him, thus making him LESS likely to get used to people. In conclusion, pretty decent big-chain pet store. read more

We adopted our dog and realized once we got him home that his hair was way worse than we thought. We were able to call in and get an appointment same day(which was also Black Friday) and get his hair cut. Kristin was great and evaluated what needed to be cut, what kind of hair he had, and how long to cut it. Now he's clean and happy, and can actually see! We enrolled our dog into training right after we adopted our dog. We got put in a class with one trainer for 2 weeks, only to show up for the next class to learn that trainer was fired. No one called to let us know, they just let us drive across town for no class. Three weeks later another trainer called to set up the rest of our classes, even though we had our reservations we showed up for the time and date the trainer said. Only to once again find out class was canceled and no one told us. We asked for store credit multiple times, for the remainer of our classes that we paid for, only to get the run around. Then tonight we show up for class to find out another class was going on in our time slot, and asked to hang out for an hour until the trainer was free. They have very poor customer service or common deciency. They have officially lost a customer. Very disappointed. read more

No one showed up so we went to the front desk and asked for help, they said they'd send someone right over. 20min later and we still had no help. This store has got to be the most disorganized pet store in Medford Oregon. The one manager that had it going on isn't with the company anymore. She was the longest lasting leader that Petco has ever had here. The people that worked there were happy, customer service was excellent too. BUT NOT NOW! What a shame.
