Today I had an appointment with Kelly. I've had a scalp issue that I have seen both my primary Dr., a dermatologist and a rheumatologist for with little care, diagnosis or follow up care. It's been disheartening at best. My scalp issue though has been on hyper drive, so after hearing of a new medication, I started looking for a care provider that could assist. Kelly and I messaged initially to ensure what I was looking for was within her scope and then I made an appt. Kelly was thorough right out of the gate, getting a list of all medicines and products I've used and then I completed a standard profile prior to my appt. Kelly examined my scalp, documented the issues I've been having, checked for skin cancer while reviewing the area and then had me walk her through all the details. Made me a bit emotional to have such undivided and sincere care. It's been a hot min since I've had any of that and it's just not common anymore. My scalp issue will take time and effort to resolve but that's not why I wanted to write a review. I finally had a professional give me their full attention, ask all the right questions, dig in with me to start mapping a resolution and refer me to a dermatologist for some additional care that was out of her scope. Stunned! I posted a review back on 7/31 as the care and effort on my behalf, for a scalp issue that has been nothing short of tortuous for me over the past year and a half...and having already seen numerous Dr.s and Specialists that did nothing to help resolve or even attempt to provide true relief, I met with Kelly at Oceana Dermatology to have a true healthcare experience with a professional. First...Kelly listened..and then she documented my history and went over my scalp in detail to better understand what I was experiencing. We spent a solid hour going over the past decade of health concerns that appeared to be auto immune related and were popping up like a bad game of Whack-a-Mole. Then, after all the details and history were discussed, pictures taken and empathy given...Kelly took action. There is a new medication on the market that most haven't heard of yet, so Kelly, had already gone online to look into the med and then got on the phone...picked up her phone and started this process with my insurance company, which we all know is painful, frustrating and overwhelming...and she went right to bat for me with calls to my provider, my pharmacy and more. Kelly wrote numerous letters after my provider first declined me for what is a very pricey medicine...and then she followed up with letters and fought back. Kelly is an absolute godsend in a world of "pass the buck" and folks pretending to care by having no real understanding or desire to truly care for a patient. Kelly texted me this morning. We learned that the decline was overturned and approved. I just could not believe my eyes. I logged into my provider and sure as heck, there was the approval. Called my pharmacy and they are ordering the medicine and I will have it on Monday. I'm so stunned..I want to cry. Kelly, thank you for being you. Absolutely the best dermatology office I've ever experienced. She is the most caring medical professional I've experienced in the dermatology field. For my entire life I've gone to offices where they only would spend 5 minutes with me and I felt very rushed and not cared for. She went over all of my areas of concern very thoroughly and made sure to burn off anything that was suspect. It felt nice to have someone care about my skin as much as I do. If you ever want very high level personal skin care experience from a dermatology professional, this is you place! Not only that, she is extremely personable and great to have conversation with. First time I came in I did botox - since I am in my 20s I didn't need a lot, and with that small amount Now after 4 moths I still see my forehead without any wrinkles! I did a juvederm lip fillers - just woow! Again, I did a very little amount - and the results are amazing! My lips look very natural, and even. There is no any weird outcomes or bruising. I found Kelly by chance because I needed to have a biopsy done. I am so happy I found her ! She contacted me back right away and I was able to see her the next morning. Kelly talked to me about my area of concern and we decided to go ahead with the biopsy. She was gentle and "shook" my foot like a dentist does when they give you an injection ;) Kelly was also able to burn - freeze some spots on my face as well ! Kelly is first off an amazing artist with an artist's eye. I had a laser skin treatment from her that took at least 10 yeas of my appearance that has lasted for YEARS. I have had botox and fillers from her that look incredibly natural. People comment on how rested and less stressed I look. That's what you want.
