All of the doctors and PAs are great, I've seen most of them. Mitsi Bray is the provider I see the most and she is fabulous, she gives the most thorough full body scan I have ever had. She explains everything she sees on your skin. All of the providers here do a good job taking biopsies and removing skin cancer. I strongly recommend this group for dermatology. read more

Horrible experience! Don't ever cancel thru their automated system, I did and it didn't show up in their system. Couple weeks later they hit me with a $200 no show fee and I had to spend weeks dealing with a receptionist who acted as if I was lying to them. Finally got thru the process of uploading proof of the automated cancellation to their online portal and they didn't even let me know that they received it or that they cancelled the bill! I had to call them and leave a message and wait for a call back to even find out how they were handling the situation. I didn't get a single apology throughout the entire process for all the time I had to spend because of their mistake, not even once I showed proof. I have been seeing Melissa , one of the PAs at DMG of North County for about 12 years. She's very kind, understanding, knowledgeable of lesions of the skin, is considerate of not hurting the patients. She has a very gentle touch. Because I have melanomas in my family history she always ask me if I have any concerns and does a very thorough full body exam making sure that nothing is missed. She also keeps me on a six month recall because I grew up pre suntan lotion eras and in the 70s got many sunburns to due to my fair skin. I have also been under the care of Dr Susan Shimomaye. The doctors and staff at DMG among the best in the field of dermatology. I highly recommend the practice. read more

Just had my bi yearly all over skin cancer exam. As a Boomer who was a sun worshipper, in the days before sunscreen, I've had a few basil and squamous skin cancers removed at DMG by mohs, surgical incision and radiation. I left Dermatologist Medical Group in tears after my last visit, and it was entirely due to the way I was treated by the assistant, Priscilla. While the dermatologist was cauterizing during my procedure, she mentioned that I had a rash behind my ear. Because the cauterizing tool was loud, I couldn't hear her clearly, so I planned to ask more about it afterward, but forgot until I was at the checkout. When I brought it up at checkout, the front desk coordinator was happy to ask the dermatologist. Priscilla happened to be walking by and interjected by saying that if I wanted to know what the rash was, I'd have to book another appointment. I explained that I wasn't the one who raised the concern -- the doctor did -- yet she repeated " you'll have to schedule an appointment which will be about $250 since you don't have insurance to find out what the rash was." For a patient to walk out crying over the way they were spoken to says a lot about the level of professionalism on display. Patients deserve to feel cared for and respected, not dismissed. This experience left me questioning whether patient wellbeing is truly the priority here. read more

One of the worst places I've ever been... don't know what office workers are doing but tried to have pathology report faxed to them from another doctor and they keep saying they don't have it. Then they said they have it, then they say they don't. In the meantime decided to try another doctor. The new doctor got the fax right away and was able to remove the squamous cell carcinoma the same day... read more

I continue to appreciate Dr. Liu and her thoroughness and care in examining and treating my skin. She is the ultimate professional, while also being warm and kind. The qualms I had previously that led me to render a 3 star review with this practice as a whole have been resolved. The "first point of contact" has, for the last year or more, been the same very nice woman (I wish I'd thought to note her name to give her due credit) who is pleasant in her greeting, making eye contact and smiling. She gives clear instructions, lets me know when she has completed her checkin, and invites me to have a seat to wait to be called. Next, the various people, taking me back to the room and updating my medications listed in their records, and logging any concerns I'd like to address with the doctor, have been pleasant for the last few years, although they don't always state their names, nor do they say what their qualifications are. Nonetheless, the experience from my end has improved markedly. In my most recent visit in Oct. 2025, I want to especially commend Monica, who was the person taking me back to the room and updating my records, then assisting Dr. Liu in documentation. I have popped back here on Yelp to give a new review because of her. She was the total package of kindness and professionalism. After calling my name to lead me to the room, she turned to me as we walked so that I could see as well as hear her as she introduced herself with a warm smile and told me which room we were headed to. She then described what she was going to do. She seemed genuinely happy to be helping me, and was exactly the kind of person I'd enjoy interacting with again. What a gem! Dr. Liu was fantastic as always. I am so glad that I can once again feel good about recommending DMG because of these positive changes. read more

These hard working people have been so sweet and kind to me. Just the other day I was in for an appointment with Dr. Finnin, that went really well. Aside from my good appointment, I ended up in a really bad situation. My transportation services company chose to abandon me in my electric wheelchair, with my son, on a rainy day, at a complex where all the businesses closed at 5 PM. I was having a bit of a crisis and they were so wonderful towards me about it. DMG team, I am very grateful! Your kindness made all the difference for us that day. I love my dermatologist, and she is very caring and attentive with my questions and concerns. She also offers quick responses if I need to message. However, the receptionists are not very nice. It's always uncomfortable interacting with them in person. It's a lot of silence and guessing at what your next step is supposed to be or if the conversation is over. I called with a question, and the girl who answered (wasn't given a name) acted very put out and like I was stupid. I was relaying info I was given from their office, and it was like I was making the whole thing up. She offered no additional assistance, and I hung up still feeling confused. I think the front facing employees need to work on client care and remember they're dealing with vulnerable people in sensitive situations. read more

I don't seem to be the only one saying this, but be sure you ask for pricing on anything before you have anything done! I went in for a simple mole check, which lasted about 5 minutes as there was nothing alarming. I mentioned a mole I had that bothered me and the doctor (who was great....and not at all the reason for the one-star review) said "oh, I can freeze that off real quick." 30 seconds later, that was done and appointment was over. Then comes the bill...over $350 for the quick mole check and almost $400! to have the one small mole frozen off. My insurance covered what I think is a respectable amount for my visit ($325), but that still left me with $435 to cover out of pocket. All for a 5-min mole check and 30 seconds freezing an optional one off! Needless to say, I will not be back, which is unfortunate because I did find the doctor to be great. I see why people avoid doctors and getting check-ups even if they think they're healthy. It's really unfortunate. read more

Very disappointed! After waiting months for an appointment to get medication for my eczema. My appointment was about 45 minutes long. I was checked into the front desk, taken to the back room, and then 5 min with the doctor talking about my options of medication and taking pictures of my infected areas I left only to receive a bill a few days later for $550!!!! The worst part is I can get anyone from their office to properly explain why I'm being billed that much. The "best" (dumbest) response I got was " well that's the way they coded your visit"! read more

Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. This place is a factory and they treat you like cattle here. There are always 20+ people in the waiting room. The doctors are constantly "running behind" so you will be seen 30-45 minutes after your appointment time and the doctor will spend 5 minutes with you and rush you through the process. You'll never see the same doctor twice. The front staff couldn't care less about patients. The doctor didn't ask my permission to remove moles and just started cleaning my skin and came at me with a scalpel. I literally cringed away from her and asked her what she was doing. She couldn't even slow down enough to explain what she was doing. I could tell she was embarrassed that she forgot to explain. I'm sure the doctors are good doctors but when you have an office run like a factory, I can't imagine how many patients they have to see in a day. This office is just too big for the proper healthcare of human beings. Everyone is overworked and you can tell as a patient by the level of care and customer service you receive. Just do yourself a favor and find an office with 1-2 doctors. This place is not a place to get healthcare. read more

I've been a patient here for decades. I see Dr rotunda and she is extremely thorough and very courteous and friendly.

I cannot comment on the physicians in this group- only billing errors and practices. All my visits with several Physician Assistants last year were sent to my insurance with incorrect billing codes. My insurance denied all 3 bills/date of service. Over the last 5 months plus, I have been able to finally get them to send corrected bills on 2 of my visits and get my insurance to pay. I am still working on a visit from last May! My insurance keeps receiving the same bills without the corrected code on that date of service. I just keep calling the billing office. So that date of services charges are still denied. I'm not giving up. I hope this does not happen to anyone else. read more

Dr. Liu has been my main dermatologist for several years. She is so skilled and knowledgeable. Always a true professional, she treats me with respect and reassures me if Im worried about something. I schedule my annual skin screening months in advance. Its a busy office so book in advance. One time, I called with a precancer slin concern and I was offered an appt within that week. I was pleased to see a new doctor for a biopsy. About a month ago, I put my name on her appt wait list to get my annual appt on an earlier daye. Two days ago, I got a call saying Dr Liu had a cancellation. So I was happy to see her today. Over the years, Ive had brief appointments with a few other doctors at DMG and theyre very good. I find the nurses, medical assistants and front staff all very good too. My family & I are grateful for Dr Liu and the DMG. read more

I went in to have a cyst on my back removed by Melissa. I was given the choice to leave it and I said I wanted it gone. Some was missed, and causing discomfort, so I went back and was seen by Rosina. She tried telling me the intent of the punch procedure was only to send a sample to pathology, not to remove the cyst. I explained how I asked for it to be gone, and was told if the sack wasn't removed it would grow back. She acted like what I was told by Melissa wasn't true. If a punch couldn't do that why was it even done? Now I'll end up with a bigger scar if I choose to have it fully removed, which will require surgery. I left upset and frustrated, knowing I wouldn't be returning. I was charged $85 for nothing at the follow up for a botched job, when they could've charged a recheck fee instead. It wasn't my fault the cyst wasn't fully removed. They are nice people, but not very helpful. I do not recommend. read more
