We had a really hard time getting service to research a lot of places during our week long touring with the ATV's on the Hatfield & McCoy trails, so it was wonderful to finally hit a town that had service for Verizon phones and be able to find a little piece of heaven like this. Also, we've never stayed at a bed and breakfast, so this was definitely a first experience for us. The hosts were so welcoming at the late hour we came in, and recommended a few restaurants in town for us to get dinner and relax at. We had the privacy of a hotel, and the comfort of a home, all at the same time. We will definitely keep this on the map for our future visits- you should too!!!

The house is a large, nine bedroom manor from 1904 which is lovingly done in period style. They rent out two rooms, and we stayed in the downstairs Laing Room. It was huge, had a queen bed, a fireplace, and a television. There was a large attached bathroom, all kitted out in full Victoriana, complete with the original clawfoot tub (and a modern, freestanding shower). Sheila has put out all sorts of toiletries in case you forgot something, and there are loads of towels. We came and went as we pleased, Friday to Sunday, sometimes staying to chat and drink wine with the ever evolving group of friends, family, and neighbors stopping by to pass time on the porch or back patio. Tom and Sheila are both genuinely hilarious individuals, and there is plenty of what the Irish call, 'good crack.' I will come back and post a picture when I download them. The house is on a very quiet street about two or three blocks from downtown Lewisburg. The main restaurants and shopping and pubs are a five minute walk past the picturesque Old Stone Presbyterian Church and Carnegie Institute. There is a large garden with a pond and chairs set out on the lawn. Temperatures were lovely and fireflies were out in abundance. I highly recommend taking a little jaunt up to Lewisburg and calling ahead to reserve at Church Street.

This Huntington B&B is a bit misnamed. There are two rooms, a well appointed living room and a…read morebedroom with a queen size bed. There's a small kitchen and the bathroom is good. There is a view of the Ohio River from the couch (that becomes a bed) through a flood wall opening that provides a nice view over a static Pullman car that's part of the visitor center. The HVAC is quiet and efficient. The Chessie Room is on the second floor of an historic building and one must climb stairs to get there. The TV is awkwardly located in the bedroom but is offset by excellent WiFi. The breakfast part is a chit to Butter It Up! in the Market Square on 3rd Avenue, a 15 minute walk away but with a parking lot behind the building if you don't want to walk. If you do hike it you will pass Pullman Square and several restaurants that you may want to try later on. The menu is worth the walk. From the Chessie Room it's a ten minute drive to Ritter Park, as fine a city park as will be found anywhere. Value wise it's very good, in part due to the location, and in sort due to the comfort of the Chessie Room proper.
