The process is straightforward, and they're professional, but I found out the hard way that they won't buy gold in small quantities, which honestly makes no sense to me. Gold is gold. It was a bit frustrating to make the trip only to be turned away for something that would not be an issue at another store. If you're selling larger amounts, it's a solid option, but if you just have a small piece or two, you might want to call ahead to save yourself the hassle. Recently, I went through my old gold jewelry and some items that I accumulated from various relatives and had quite a pile. Matt at Oceanside Jewelers surprised me with a quote for how much I would get for the gold. I wanted some earrings, but unfortunately, Oceanside didn't have exactly what I wanted. He suggested I try their sister store, Gems of La Costa. Rhonda at Gems of La Costa was very approachable, helpful, and knowledgeable. Even though I didn't see what I was looking for, she understood my needs completely and found the perfect earrings. With the holiday coupon and my gold trade-in, I walked out of there sparkling in my new earrings, having paid much less than I expected to get exactly what I wanted. Finally, after a long internal struggle, he convinced me to go out and get the ring of my dreams. So I looked and I looked, but nothing was perfect. I thought designing a completely custom ring was impossible in the time-frame we had to work with, but Chad made it happen! He took all of my pictures and drawings and gave me exactly what I asked for at a totally reasonable price. Went in with two watches that needed batteries. They charged the standard $10 per battery. They were quick and efficient changing the batteries. I saw a sign that said they could inspect and clean your jewelry so I decided to have my wedding ring inspected. The guy came out and said there was a prong bent back. $70 to fix. On one of the smaller stones on the ring, something was bent also, another $50. He had an envelope so I could leave the ring. $120 total and leave the ring. I left and went to my regular jeweler in Carlsbad. It was a $25 fix that took all of 3 minutes. If you need a watch battery, I would recommend. Any other service, I would BEWARE! read more

After reading the reviews I decided to bring my wedding ring here for repair. One of my diamonds fell out of the setting. They estimated about a week and it was just a few days over. When I arrived to pick it up it looked spectacular. Not only did they redo all the prongs, but he explained he did a little extra lasering to ensure the diamond was better positioned for no extra charge. I am very happy with the result. I found this jeweler here on yelp and the reviews were bang on! needed a necklace clasp that had broken replaced quickly at a reasonable price and I came to the right place. The staff was welcoming and conscientious. The owner made a point, for even such a small matter, of coming out to the front to welcome me and share a bit of friendly banter. I needed a similar repair of another necklace a few years ago and chose a different jeweler nearby and honestly they charged me almost twice the price back then and they took a week rather than a day to do the same type of replacement and repair. I felt like I was a nuisance rather than a customer. I love supporting local business but love it even more when they know how to ensure you are treated like a part of their community. I took in my wife's wedding ring, it was in pretty bad shape. it was missing diamonds and many of the supports were broken that holds the bands together. They repaired my ring back to the original show room quality. They were fast, friendly, and some of the best jewelers I have ever seen. I am very happy with the work they did. I decided to go see Chad after reading the great reviews on Yelp and I was not disappointed. It took me a long time to finally bring my wedding ring in to replace it with a stone since losing my diamond years ago. Chad was awesome in helping guide me to the best stone after I explained what I was looking for. His assistant was very patient with me as well in helping me decide which route to go with my ring. Chad was also very fair in buying some gold pieces from me. In fact, I had one 1/4 diamond ring and he advised me to keep the diamond as it wasn't worth much in $$ to me and suggested I give it to my daughter. When I came back to pick up my ring I was going to leave my loose diamond stone he took out of the gold ring I sold forgetting all about it (and the $16 cash I had coming back to me from ring balance). He reminded me and wouldn't let me leave without it. Of course, in business this is the right way to run one, but it isn't always done so. I rarely write reviews, but I am thrilled with the service I received this week from Matt at Oceanside Jewelers. Matt was able to find me exactly what I wanted at a fraction of the cost of most retail jewelry shops. He is laid back, super knowledgeable and patient, the most patient person I've ever met. (I will add that I am not comfortable in most shops because of high pressure sales staff who are not jewelers and know very little about the jewelry they are selling.) I buy at Oceanside Jewelers because Matt is there to answer questions and show me items without trying to push sales. In addition, Oceanside Jewelers pays full value on gold! I have never found that offer elsewhere. I visited the shop recently to trade in my old, dated, and mostly broken pieces of gold jewelry for some new earrings and gently used rings in excellent condition that looked positively new. I am not wealthy, and am on a tight budget. I now own the gorgeous, high-quality diamond stud earrings I have wanted for 3 decades and chic, updated wedding rings. I could not be happier with my purchases. When you are at the beach, drop into the shop across the street from the main Oceanside library and have a look for yourself. I recommend Oceanside Jewelers to anyone needing jewelry repair. I have a cross pendant that I have owned for many years. It is not a very expensive piece but it is priceless to me. When the part that holds it on the chain started to break I took it to a jewelry store in the mall. They sent my cross out to another location and after almost two weeks came back with what seemed like a high estimate for repair. I declined and after waiting another week for it to return to the store I picked up my cross and went to Oceanside Jewelers. I was happy to hear that they were able to do the work right there in the shop and have it back to me in a matter of days. They recommended that I replace the piece rather then repair because the gold had worn quite thin and there was a chance it would break again. The cost ended up being almost half of the estimate I was given for simply repairing at the other store! I am very happy with the work and the security that came with replacing vs, repairing. The staff was kind and helpful, the location was very convenient. Experience matters! These guys worked a miracle for me. I had taken a ring to Valdivia jewelers because it was closer to where I live in northeast Oceanside. I made the mistake of not checking their yelp ratings and boy was I sorry! I brought in a brand-new ring to be sized down. After one hour the ring they handed me was miss shaped, all scratched, and dull as in absolutely no shine on the band anymore. There were visible scrape marks that resembled sandpaper. There was a bubble and incomplete weld. I can't even explain how upset I was. Oceanside Jeweler saved the day! This was a gift on Valentine's Day for my grandson's girlfriend. They fixed the shape, the weld, and polished it to perfection. When they were done with it you couldn't even tell what a horror show it was but I dropped off to them.
