My family and I have taken the Coaster several times to enjoy a nice relaxed ride to watch a Padres game. This Sunday when we returned to Oceanside upon Entering our vehicle I received a notification that my wallet was left behind. I immediately ran back to the Coaster and could see my wallet on the seat where it had fallen out of my pocket. However all the doors were closed, I noticed an employee walking towards the front of the train and ran towards him while repeatedly calling for him only to be ignored. I reached him as he was climbing up to where the driver was also sitting and asked him if he could please open the door so I could quickly hop on and grab it. He said NO we're going home You'll have to contact lost and found. That's policy he said.. Long story short, my wallet had an AirTag in it so I tracked it all night where it sat in the train yard, and went to bed at 11 PM. Woke up the next morning and my wallet was an hour and a half away near Hemet. Call the Hemet sheriff department and they went to the location and talked to the resident who said he was a manager for the train and he accidentally picked up my wallet and put it in his pocket. I wonder if that is policy needless to say it was empty and two days later all my cards & ID were returned to me by a sergeant from Camp Pendleton, who found them scattered along the road, leaving the train yard. So be careful not to leave anything behind on the train, especially your wallet because they're employees and management are thieves and very dishonest. read more

For the past 2 months I had to take the coaster beginning at Oceanside to the Santa Fe Depot. And I have no complaints at all in regard to the coaster and the staff onboard. The coasters are always clean. There's never been a foul odor. Even the people traveling on it are polite. The staff onboard the coasters are always courteous and answer and all questions I might have. I've always been greeted with a smile and a hello. You can purchase a pass at the transit center OR download the Pronto app and purchase them that way. The train is equipped with an upper and lower deck. Some seating have a table so you can do work or eat on. Do they run on time? Not 100% of the time. But a lot of that has to do with the fact that sometimes they need to wait for another train to pass by, weather conditions and some other factors that are out of their control. I did an Amtrak day trip from LA Grand Central down to Oceanside to see the Carlsbad flower fields. The Oceanside transit center feels larger than it is and is kept clean. There are easily accessible bathrooms, the announcements are loud and clear. I felt safe getting off the train and waiting for my ride and it was super easy for them to pull up against the curb. I would be curious to do this again and maybe see what I can get to within walking distance. read more

This transit center is very convenient since it offers a huge, free parking lot. There's an information station/ticket booth that's indoors and is warm during cold months and cool during the warm months. It also has lots of benches to sit and plenty of space for luggage. The station is very clean and well lit at night. There's also vending machines if you're in the mood for a snack. I can't remember if I saw security patrolling the area but it felt pretty safe. Train to Los Angeles, Union Station was on time. We left on time at 1:57. Coming home was a disaster. We were supposed to leave at 10:10 but we were waiting for another train and people to board this 10:10 PM train and we were half an hour late Departing station. We were supposed to get back to Oceanside at 12 AM. We didn't get back until 1230, 30 minutes late very disappointed why aren't we like Switzerland or Europe were trans leave on time when they sing and why are we waiting for people on another train that delays us for more than 30 minutes ridiculous. We had business class seat so we got a snack box of processed snacks, processed cheese and pretzels, which we appreciated a snack box. Conductor is helpful and friendly. There are outlets for charging your phone and laptop with free Wi-Fi. read more

Oceanside Transit Center - Parking - Trains Near Me - Oceanside, California

This is the central hub for transfers for Amtrak, Metrolink, and the local buses. It's a fairly big place and is all situated outdoors. I didn't use any of their restrooms or facilities, but it was pretty easy to walk towards downtown Oceanside from the transit center. Think it only took me about 10 minutes from the tracks to the first downtown business shop. So, convenient enough for traveling to and through Oceanside. read more

The many times when you ride the bus, and the trains what is one thing that you discover when you come to the large terminal station where you switch to or transfer? You may be thinking right now what does this mean? Yes the many areas of the transportation industry they like to have places that like to give customers and the rider of the many trains and trolleys where they could get cold sodas and somethings to eat but when you have a place that has lost the many things the station loses interest. The area of Oceanside that has been the largest hub of the transportation history and with the Marine base. When the servicemen had got their time off from the base, they would head to the bus station to get the train or take the bus back home for the time they were given that is how many bus depots were used. With the many transit centers that I have seen and the many Grey Hound Stations that were the big thing that you would see in the many United States cities you would see grills food grills and the sodas and the hamburger places where you get food to take with you on the bus or on the train some trips take long hours. Traveling from the city of San Diego to the city of Oceanside does take two hours on the city bus I had taken the 101 to Oceanside was able to see the man y stops that of the smooth ride you don't have the traffic jams and the people getting in front of you the whole trip is done by way of the Coast Highway. With the many people on the bus and the beautiful ride up the coast to Oceanside you arrive at the many terminals that you can catch other busses to other parts and to other inland cities. Arriving to the Oceanside transit Center there was allot of cars and to see the whole station there was no par5king structure except for apartment parking garages marked Oceanside transit parking garages. With the many cars and the city near by the many Bus Routes that had their own spots leaving a backup bus to park off to the far side. Taking a look around the station there were many things that had taken place the closure of the Burger King Restaurant and the detour of the Amtrack ticket office that was always open. Looking over the many things there at the Oceanside Transit Center it just didn't look like a Transit Center it looked like more of large Department store parking area. Seeing many things, the loss of upkeep in the bathrooms they have at the station the clean-up of the station with the ticket machines you can buy tickets for the Metrolink, or the Sprinter, and the Coaster that services the San Diego Area. To see a Transit Station that had outdated schedules with Outdated Maps there was not clear schedules in the way of the times of when the busses arrive or the departure. One thing that had caught my attention to see there was no signs to the food areas to find one that was up on the corner when you walked to the main strip. The area around the station there was no cameras to see, and the presence of the Transit Security was none to be found. Oceanside Transit Center does need one thing is to have a complete make over and the many areas of the station need to be remodeled. Oceanside Transit Center is a great place yet there are many problems with the age of the station and the condition it shows it has a very small entry sign to the station to see no safety signs at certain areas you do have high speed trains that travel through there at night. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer from the many stations that I have seen there are some that show allot of great things with many locations that have restaurants close by. Yet Oceanside Transit Center is not one of the best with the Great History of the Marine and the Navy that lived and breathed in the Times of the drugs have tarnished the age and the looks of the city. Plenty of spaces here, and it's free. This area of Oceanside is not the safest, however, the times I came here by myself, I didn't see any suspicious activities even during nighttime, or maybe I was just oblivious lol. But since this lot is not patrolled, I would be careful to lock up your car and leave your belongings out of plain sight. Also, try to park as close to the tracks as possible. A read more

I've been using this station for close to 20 years: before, when I didn't have a car, and now, as I've realized that I need to occasionally slow the eff down. Instead of rushing from place to place, I have been making the commute a part of my story. That said, this station is a nice hub for Greyhound (which I've taken as well), the Sprinter (ditto), city busses (ditto!), and the Coaster, Amtrak and Metro trains (dittos again). There's still homeless and shady people around, but it feels much safer to wait for a train now than a decade ago. Downtown has been slowly getting a face lift! If you have time, there's decent grub options in the area as it's been built up with boutique hotels and cute, slightly overpriced restaurants (I miss the cheap breakfast nooks though). There's plenty of free parking, including a parking structure. The only qualm is the difficulty in obtaining overnight parking (you gotta call for a pass and you're allotted two passes a YEAR). I could park at the harbor (three nights free!) or take the Sprinter and utilize my scooter, so traveling without a car has been manageable for me. I used to prefer the Carlsbad station due to location until I realized that not every train stops there and the newly-planted homeless people are bold and moderately aggressive. I look forward to utilizing this station for my mass transit needs. This is a horrible station. Filthy bathrooms. No onsite staff. No ability to check luggage if you're going on a long train trip, as I was. The only source of food is a vending machine, and it's stocked with snacks that are little more than salt and sugar. My train was 2 and a half hours late, and the only things to sit on were concrete benches. UGH doesn't begin to describe this experience. read more

The Oceanside Transit Center is a public transportation hub serving rail and bus routes. My wife and I use it occasionally. Amtrak trains running between San Diego and Los Angeles stop here.  It's the northern terminus for North County Transit District Coaster trains and busses serving San Diego County (as well as its Sprint light rail to Escondido) and southern terminus for Metrolink trains serving Los Angeles and Orange Counties.   We take regional rail from Solana Beach to Aliso Viejo.  This requires changing trains at Oceanside, which is awkward at best with or without luggage. NCTD and Metrolink trains do not share platforms, nor are ticket kiosks co-located.   We've not had to depend on parking here. read more

I really enjoyed kind of place not only can you get a bus to go to Escondido ,Vista venture ,Bernardo and could also go down to the shop as it is I suppose you can if I got on the sprinter go back-and-forth Escondido for Oceanside transit center when I went on the sprinter today to really nice comfortable it has a really nice view everything . the drive is very nice and pretty awesome service is great. You could also get greyhound bus there there is a Burger King get something to eat a few vending machines , Nice clean restrooms and track station to buy tickets to for go on the train. But the best feature of all is the coaster house you need is a transit pass Tappi get on it and you're it's free it's perfectly free would you buy a thing all you do is tap it and get on the train go or you buy a ticket to go back in to get on train go back to San Diego read more

The worst train station I've Ever been to. I felt like I was going to get kidnapped or assaulted - seriously there's no where safe to even stand after dark. I was approached by multiple homeless people asking if they could come home with me, and wouldn't take no for an answer. I was followed to the parking lot, and when I went to the restroom, after being cattle called a bunch of times, where the janitor peeked through the bathroom stall doors while I was going to the bathroom, and proceeded to ask me questions about my marital status and what I liked to do for fun, while repeatedly making sexual remarks about my body. It was 8:40pm. Not 3:00am. I can't believe how unsafe I felt, with a police station right down the street no less. Go anywhere else if you're arriving or departing after Dark. Not worth it. Ugh. They desperately need security at night - like NOW. read more

Rudest front desk people I've ever met in my travels. Snide, nasty man giving unclear directions. I missed my train because it left three minutes early and they tried to charge me for the next train. I was running late because there was a traffic accident. This guy blames me for missing the train, saying that he gets to work on time. Then he told me I can get on the next train an hour later. Drove from San Clemente to catch 2 Pm to Old Town Day of the Dead celebration. Got my ticket at platform 1 at 1:57 and waited for Coaster. When nothing happened asked another person where Coaster was? He said another platform 3 was departure platform.,Ran with 9 year old and watch it pulled away. So angry that day pass has no platform information on ut! Ticket machine has no platform information and platform 1 has no sinage indicating any other platforms nor that that Coaster leaves from another platform. No announcement that 2 PM was ready at platform 3. So upset that I spent $24 with no refunds because I did not know about a secret platform!!! Excellent parking including free overnight parking. However , be careful to park on the side of the tracks with the Amtrak station which is Free. On the other side, Oceanside city will FINE you $60 a night for parking. Burger King is built into the transit station. I try to stay out of the restrooms... too many scary homeless people. Platform information has always been a problem but there was an improvement for a short time after the construction. However, it's back to "your guess is as good as mine" as far as where Amtrak is arriving and leaving from. It shouldn't be that hard since there are only two tracks Amtrak uses but far too often passengers have to run to the other side of the station to catch a train. Been down there a lot lately and saw a young security guard politely and sternly inform a couple of vapers that it isn't allowed on the property after they rudely blew 3-4 clouds into a crowd of people and children, including my 1 year old. Greyhound is unprofessional, inept and absolutely incompetent. When Greyhound's bus does not bother to arrive at the Oceanside transit center, the customer is left waiting in a transit center with a locked bathroom in the middle of the night. I hope Oceanside Transit Center decides that they do not want to be business partners with Greyhound. Greyhound has no business being in business because Greyhound does not have any customer care when Greyhound's bus driver decides to blow off his Oceanside stop. read more
