Oceanside Village offers the standard amenities; but, in my opinion, is not worth the effort. It is cheap, which lends to a clientele that brings its own issues. Too many underage kids allowed to free range on golf carts and the age restriction is not enforced, leading to reckless driving, loud, inappropriate music and squealing, braking tires at all hours. Office staff is not hospitable in the least and generally rude. I feel this probably stems from the policies Oceanside Village has chosen to implement which are inconvenient and challenging for owners and guests alike. I can imagine if I had to answer the same reasonable questions repeatedly because of unreasonable policies, I'd be frustrated as well. If you are happy staying in a glorified trailer park for your beach vacation, this may be the place for you; but, expect the same type of atmosphere. read more

The house we rented was very nice, however, the management of this unique property is something left to be desired. The website has not been updated in several years, including the rules and pricing, which were disclosed after rental contract had been signed. Renter beware... convenient however, some aspects include money making scam. 1.) fitness center is not included, even if only renting for one week, charges $30. 2.) no outside golf carts allowed on property, including the private beach access. 3.) renters are welcome to rent their electric golf carts at the cost of $400 a week (outside company's $250/week). Note, these golf carts cannot be driven off property (private beach across is allowed). Another note, you must be 25 years old to drive these golf carts. 4.) renter must pay $20 per card for access to beach and property ($10 refunded when card returned). read more

When we checked out ahead of the storm, we overheard a manager telling one of the groundskeepers that he was NOT ALLOWED TO EVACUATE WITH HIS FAMILY. Seriously. They were telling him that, contrary to federal and state law, they would fire him if he evacuated. That his family could go, but he could not, because he was needed to watch their property. I hope the people who made this decision go to jail. read more

I've enjoyed the village but as a home owner it is very expensive to maintain a home in the village. As a home owner the fees and requirements to keep a pristine home. Lord forbid if a small weed grows while you're away, because you will get a letter and bilked a fortune to have it pulled up. The lease and amenities fees, all the permits, etc will eat you alive. Then renters wonder why they are being charged so much. Well, most of it goes to all the little people that collect off the owners. It's a money trap. Buy a lot on your own and save a fortune on fees! read more

They won't let their employees evacuate during a mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Florence. I don't need to set foot on this property to know that it is poorly run. They threatened to fire the employees who chose to evacuate. read more

Oceanside Village has been our family's vacation spot for 17 years. It is a gated community and they have rules, but those are for the protection of everyone, especially the owners. It is safe, quiet, and has many amenities and activities. It is very family-oriented and pet-friendly as well. read more

My family absolutely LOVES Oceanside Village! We have stayed in 3 different rentals over the past 3 years, each one amazing! The people that live there on a year round basis are very welcoming and the most friendliest people! The guards are always very helpful. There is so much to do inside the Village. Love the private beach access and the ability to ride the golf carts there if we did not want to walk. Will always go back there year after year! read more

So far nothing but a nightmare my mom rented this place for the week first off as far as the price goes a little higher then other places but it's gated so figured it would be a nicer place not the case also you can't I couldn't visit her while on my golf cart because although everywhere you look in there are golf carts, no OUTSIDE golf carts are allowed I mean come on mine has insurance and is registered through SCDMV but that's not good enough, if that's the case then it must have to do with making a dollar and the heck with family visiting family so enjoy the money made this time off of this family I can promise you you will never get another penny and I will do my best to let all know about this place and oh yeah getting back to the place she stayed it was rather old floor was sagging cabinets sagging smells bad I think it was off of east lake or something like that read more

Wonderful place and community. Great place for a vacation. The only problem was the pool was only open from 10am to 10pm.

It was March and graduation was only a few months away. My friends and I were desperately looking for senior week houses in Myrtle Beach SC, that we could call home for the week. Senior week was a big deal where I'm from and you had to secure your senior week house in March or you would be sleeping in your car. My friends and I finally found the perfect affordable house that was right on the beach. As soon as we could we put the deposit down and the house was ours for the week. Before you can stay there, the owner insist that you tour the house, so we did. The two and a half hours to get there was well worth it. As soon as we got there, we were greeted by the owner of the house. Right off the bat, the owner showed poor service towards us. He was very condescending to us saying things like "I bet this is a little overwhelming for you all", "let me talk to a parent, you kids wouldn't understand the rules very well" and also "if there's any noise complaints, we'll definitely kick you guys out, i'm sorry". Throughout the tour, he would show us each room but would continue to talk down to us. Despite the way he was talking to us, he was in fact doing his job. Showing us each room, explaining how things worked, how to get the key, where to park, how to access the storage unit, and where to sign the guest book. The tour was given on foot, by the owner just showing us everything pretty much. The house had 5 rooms and 3 baths, also came with a washer and dryer, pool access, beach access, 3 parking spots, and a personal hot tube. Upon arrival the fridge was stocked with complimentary waters and sodas on them, which was a pleasant welcoming. The week in the house wasn't so pleasant, as we found things kept breaking. The bunk beds continued to snap, the tv wouldn't work time to time, the air was stuck on 50 degrees and wouldn't stop blowing cold air, and also the neighbors were old and rude. Besides the little things breaking the stay was the most fun i've had in awhile. The house provided free passes to play miniature golf and day passes at the aquarium in Myrtle Beach, Ripley's, which was something nice for the owners to do for us as well. The house also came with everything from pots and pans to our own storage unit with beach chairs and boogie boards. Besides some stuff breaking, all in all the house perfect for our senior week. This trip impacted me in a positive way because now everytime I go to Myrtle Beach, I think of all fun I had in this beach house. From free passes to beach access, i'd recommend this place to anyone who's planning a trip to Myrtle Beach. read more

I brought my family here to stay at a friends house for the week while my kids were here for a convention. We have been here several times over the years without issues. This year I brought down our golf cart to swap with my friends's cart, which was broken and which I offered to take back home to repair. When we got to the gate, and without even a hint of hospitality, respect, or interest in why I had an "unapproved cart" or informing me in a calm tone, Barney Fife immediately threatened me with confiscation of my cart and a visit from the police if he caught it on the road inside the community. I had no opportunity to explain the situation or ask how to get a "permit". Must've caught him on a bad day. Other than the A-hole security guard, the place is great. read more
