DO NOT GO HERE. The Dental hygienist dropped an Ultrasonic Scaler tip tool piece in my mother's mouth. (THIS IS A SHARP CLEANING TOOL) THE HYGIENIST DIDNT STOP cleaning my mom's mouth until my mom swallowed the piece and then told my mom she had to go to the Emergency Room for standard procedure. I went to the ER with my mom and they are now concerned this tool piece will puncture her stomach or digestive track, and now surgery is now lingering in the air. Put to the side the fact that she had a whole vacation she had to cancel because of all of this and it cost $$$$ to cancel flights, and hotel. According to Dr. Colby, this is very common and not the first time it's happened at this practice. I'm putting honesty on the table, I would not trust ANY Dental practice that's literally saying, "why are you mad? You'll just poop it out" God forbid my mom punctures a hole somewhere in her stomach. The way this whole situation has been handled is very disappointing. Dr. HARGAS WOULD NEVER. Since Hargas has left, things have not been the same, that's why I left as a customer. The manager at the front desk had a very BAD ATTITUDE and that's all it took for me to leave. Growing up, Dr. Hargas was the heart of Oceanview Dental. It was known for being professional, gentle, honest and loved his customers and the families. I was diagnosed with ILVEN, covered with plaque psoriases at 4 years old. During my check-up visit, I was advised that I need to have10 fillings done. I was shocked. My previous dentist said that I don't need any fillings just 6 months ago. The estimated treatment was around $2,000. I decided to get a second opinion right away. My new dentist confirmed that I don't need any feelings. HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE? I felt like I was ripped off at Oceanview. Those guys also charge for everything. I had to pay $35.00 for forwarding my XRays, although most dental offices do it for free. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The office has a beautiful salt water fish tank in the lobby and the walls are painted with aquatic themed murals. Dr. Colby is great and easy to talk to. First off let me start by saying that I HATE going to the dentist. It has been an issue of mine from my childhood. The sounds, the smell, the thought of even going makes me wanna turn around and go the other way. However I recently had to get a root canal and new a crown placed from a cracked tooth and was not thrilled about going. I put it off for as long as I could until I couldn't handle the pain anymore. I came across Oceanview Dental and was nervous about going to my appointment. I walked in and was greeted by 3 very nice ladies. They offered me water and asked if there was anything they could get me. Right about now my nerves are starting to really kick in. The Dental Assistant came and took me back right away and placed me in a very comfortable chair and said " dont worry I read your paperwork..... I know you don't like it here hopefully we can change that". Dr. Hargas came in and said everything that was going to occur. He said that Nitrous Oxide would be my best friend and that it works quick and goes away quick so that I could still drive myself home. He was very polite and said he would apply a numbing ointment on me first then come back and give me proper local anesthesia. Before he did any of that they gave me headphones and asked what kind of music I liked. She put country music on for me and I started to feel a little more relaxed. Dr. Hargas came in and applied the gel then about 15 minutes later the actual "NEEDLE" needless to say I totally over-reacted about how much it would hurt. He shook his finger while in my mouth on the opposite side of the needle and distracted me from what he was actually doing. IT TOTALLY WORKED!! I didn't feel a thing. Right about now the "funny gas" has kicked in I'm totally relaxed and could care less what they are about to do. I was comfortable and pain free the entire time. Before I knew it the procedure was done ( I EVEN HAD THE PERMANENT CROWN ON THE SAME DAY) so no coming back in 2 weeks to have it all done again!!! My over-all experience was incredible, efficient, comforting oh and I forgot to mention that my chair looked out a window to the ocean?! I would recommend them to anyone.....even of you are not skeptical of a dentist. From start to finish they had it all put together like a well-oiled machine! They are now my regular dentist for cleanings to anything else I need done! read more

Charges for fillings way to much. They wanted to charge $300+ for a regular white filling where another dentist would only charge half. Front desk bad with paperwork and kept calling for SSN to file insurance when they had the right one the whole time but messed it up on their filling. Update: I did not have the wrong office. This is the office I went to. By the way, I did my crown in this office and they made it way to thin on the top. It cracked after about 3 years of use. I had to pay for another crown. read more

I have been a patient at Oceanview Dental for 23 years and the staff is nothing but the best! Six years ago I had 18 porcelain veneers done by Dr. Hargas. The procedure was well worth it! Before I got the veneers, you couldn't even see my teeth when I smiled. I'm so glad that I had the procedure. I had to yelp Oceanview Dental because I just went in for a cleaning yesterday and it was great as usual! I only waited about 10 minutes for Laurie the hygienist to get started. Afterwards, Dr. Hargas came in to exam my veneers and make sure everything was looking good. I highly recommend Oceanview Dental! The office is awesome with an ocean mural and beautiful fish tank in the waiting room, the staff is friendly, and most importantly the doctors are thorough! read more

I made an appointment with this office about 2 weeks ago. I gave them my insurance information. Then when I went into the office for the appointment they told me they couldn't see me because I was a HMO and so I lost money taking the 1/2 day off work and I couldn't even get my teeth cleaned or get an exam. They had plenty of time to call me and tell me that they wouldn't see me because of my insurance status. The first thing they said to me was didn't the doctor call you and I said no. Then they said he still wants to talk to you but he never came out so I just left. read more

I had new insurance and ended up selecting Oceanview thru 800-Dentist. They were one of the only dentists that took that insurance and had late afternoon appointments. I completed most of their paperwork on-line a couple of months back. Today when I arrived, they initially could not find my paperwork, but eventually did. The office manage walked me back, introducing me to various employees. I felt like a pledge to a fraternity. It was a little over the top. I ended up having 18 x-rays, which seemed like a lot, but I can't remember how many I had the last time. Dr. Hargas came out and introduced himself and after an initial exam, went on about invisalign, oral cancer screening, overbite correction, teeth whitening and other products that he was trying to sell me. Then I had to watch a 4 minute video from Dateline or 20/20 on oral cancer to reinforce that sales pitch. About 10 minutes passed. Then the "Procedure Coordinator" came out to offer me more information on all of the optional services. I had had enough with the sales pitches and told her so. She left. At least 30 minutes elapsed, punctuated only by the x-ray tech and Dr. Hargas asking if I wanted something to drink or read. More time went by. Finally, the hygienist, whose name might have been Laurie, came and had me move to a different chair. She never introduced herself or apologized for my lengthy wait. She hardly spoke other than to tell me to tilt my head. She was by far the most thorough hygienist, spending about an hour on my cleaning. I was surprised to finally get out of the chair and realized that I had now been here for almost 2 1/2 hours. I was equally shocked to find out that I owed $130+, when I had not had to pay out of pocket for any dental visit in 15 years. That could very well be the new insurance and/or the high number of x-rays; I won't know until I get the EOB. Needless to say, repeated sales pitches, excessive waiting and feeling like a profit center rather than a patient means that I will be shopping for a new dentist. One other observation: the chairs are not separated by walls, but by cabinets. The x-ray machine was housed in one. What that means was that I could hear conversations throughout the area, making for a very noisy visit. All in all, it was more of a dental factory churning out patients. Added note: within 24 hours of my review, 3 "honest unsolicited" rave reviews were filtered out by Yelp. Enough said. read more

I have been going to Dr. Hargas for years. He is a great general and cosmetic dentist who is supported by a kind and knowledgeable staff. I recently had veneers put on. He made the two 8 hour days as pleasant as possible (the nitrous didn't hurt either!), and I walked out with the results I'd hoped for. I see Dr. Adams for invisalign here. The hygienists, receptionists, and orthodontist are all professional and friendly. It was very clear from the beginning how much my treatment would cost and what it would and would not include. (I also made sure I asked all and any questions I had). I like my invisalign even if the treatment is longer and more expensive than regular braces. I wouldn't recommend invisalign if you are not disciplined though. I have about 1 and 1/2 more years to go, so I'll write another review when I'm done with the treatment. I'll give it 4 stars only b/c I wish the treatment would be more affordable. read more

I am about finished with my Invisalign with Dr Adams and I couldn't be happier with my turnout. Being active duty military, I wasn't approved to get braces by my dental. So I decided to look into Invisalign because if my command wanted to they could order me to take my braces off. I found great reviews on yelp for Oceanview dental. I called them and got a same day appointment. They had me set up my X-ray the same day also and ordered my Invisalign. Dr Adams went in depth explaining what issues my crowding was causing. He was right though and my mouth feelings so much better now than it ever did. Oh and did I mention they give great military discounts and interest free loans. :) Also the staff is so friendly and they actually remember me every time I go in which is about every 3 months. I love this place! I get to take off my Invisalign in 3 months and can't wait to go back and ask about veneers!!! read more

They really made me feel like I was an individual, and that my comfort was important. I called in on an emergency basis and the lovely front office staff were able to get me in right away. They explained everything step by step and never kept me waiting. I was referred to a specialist, but I am definitely going to start keeping up on my routine office visits because I've finally found a dentist's office that made me feel comfortable and not ashamed of my teeth. I'm very glad I found this place. I just wanted my teeth cleaned. I haven't been to a dentist in 8 years. They cleaned my teeth very thoroughly. Better than I have every had. The hygienist was a little extra, but they showed me all of the price breakdowns for insurance and out of pocket beforehand. It was reasonable. If you haven't been to the dentist in a while, don't be afraid! They give you facts and they give you options, not lectures about your habits. We all know when we neglect our teeth. I'm giving it 2 stars because the staff and doctor are very, very nice. The office seemed clean and professional. But nothing geared towards kids. We saw Dr. Adams today for a complimentary consultation for braces for my 11 year old. Now, we've had 2 other consultations, so I kind of knew what to expect. Wrong. A complimentary consultation in their office is where you sit down with Dr. Adams for about 10 minutes, he looks in your mouth, tells you what's wrong with it and leaves. No x-rays, no pictures, no treatment plan, no price quote. If you want all of that, you have to pay $270 out of your pocket for "records". THEN...he'll talk treatment and numbers. And they push invisalign big time. After realizing that they were about to lose my business, the sweet offered to give me a range of what it might cost. It was $2000 more than any other place I had been. She really tried to get me to commit to those $270 "records". I refused. Suddenly, she was 'able' to waive the fee for me. So, it was a complete waste of my time and I left there empty handed. Had a super bad vibe overall. read more

I dislike going to the dentist and hate having my teeth worked on. With that being said I was not happy until I found Oceanview Dental. Yesterday I went in for fillings and teeth whitening. When I first arrived I was greeted by the lovely staff members in the front who made me feel very welcomed. I waited for a few minutes and then was seen by Dr. Hargas and Christina. I sat in the chair while they explained to me what was going to happen. I liked that because I knew what was going on. Before the procedure they asked if I wanted to listen to music. They hooked up Pandora and played music I liked which made the outside sound fade away. Now I was in this chair listening to music I enjoy, looking outside the window at a spectacular view while they worked on me. This is quality service and it made the time fly. After the work was done I looked in the mirror and could not believe how white my teeth were. By far this has been the best Dentist office I've ever been to. I also have to say teeth cleaning by Laurie is amazing and not painful like other experiences I've had. This was my third visit with Oceanview and I will continue to go back. I have never been so insulted before seeing Hargas. He questioned my hygiene habits and choice of foods. I'm a personal trainer and I do not ingest sugar he claims different since my teeth are in need of fillings. I am scheduled for braces and jaw surgery due to over crowding. He did not take this into account! Plus their prices are outrageous! They quoted me 2834.00 for their services. Across the street I found a great and caring dentist that did the same work and more for 1324.26. I don't think I need to explain anymore! Avoid at all cost, and Ester didn't even want to discuss my payment she wanted to tell my husband to speed things up. I believe I should be involved don't ever rush me! I started going to this office in January (2012). Wow! I'm so happy I found them. I was so tired of the usual chain dental offices that only want to sell you cosmetic dentistry and have rotating dentists. Dr. Perelman and Dr. Hargas are exactly what dentists should be. The staff is also fabulous. Such a difference, nice to be a name and not a number. There are even little perks during your appts. You can listen to Pandora via headphones during your procedure, give your hands a paraffin treatment, have a cup of gourmet coffee, and/or look at the ocean from the windows.
