Dr. Rosell and his entire staff were awesome. Friendly, fast, attentive, and overall a great experience. I'm embarrassed to admit I have not had dental insurance and have not been to a dentist in about 8 years. It was time to finally bite the bullet (no pun intended) and schedule a general exam and cleaning. I was worried/nervous about admitting to the doctor how long it had been since a cleaning, and also that I have some horrible bad habits that are not good for your teeth. Dr. Rosell was pleasant and did not speak down to me or make me feel bad, at all. He was courteous and said great job for getting in here etc. I was seen less than 5 minutes after arrival- no sitting around and waiting. Referred me to an Ortho for adult braces, and to take care of a few other issues. Clean, fast, friendly, courteous. Glad I found my dentist for life! He cleaned my teeth and it did not hurt at all! BEWARE- BEWARE- BEWARE For Decades Doctor Rosell DDS, Former owner of Oceanview Family Dentistry @ 2420 Vista Way #100 Oceanside, provided the community Consistent Sterling Dental Care. Not forgotten was his long term office manager, Mary, as well as each of his hygienists who always represented Dr. Rosell's practice with the same: honesty, integrity, & sincerity Dr. Rosell was known & led with. Because of Rosell, our family enjoyed 20 years of premium dental care as we seen Dr. Rosell off to his retirement. Before Dr. Rosell, we were blessed 10 years with Randall Smith, DDS (Pier View Way), seeing him retire. We took a "Chance" extending our family member's trust & loyalty- time & money too Oceanview Family Dentistry- "Hoping" the new owner, McEvoy, would provide Consistent Standardized Services comparable to "Doc" Rosell. When first meeting Mr McEvoy, I offered, "we are loyal customers". Later I restated this fact- and during later conversation, "we are in your corner". But, during many recent appointments, we were subjected to: EYE OPENING, JAW DROPPING, AGONIZING dental services Not believed supported by the ADA. Sub- par services against Standardized Preventative & Restorative Dental Health Care. Due to McEvoy's failures, there's inherent suffrage from Loss of Time & money. McEvoy Proved we Misplaced our Trust, Loyalty & Time into his failed practices. FAILED ROUTINE CLEANING: In dental chair, while fluoride being applied, his self proclaimed veteran (fifty something), hygienist communicated "I am cleaning your teeth in Reverse Order"- and she did! I called McEvoy, expressing Concerns & Distress of, "over 100 prior routine cleanings by: James Rosell DDS, Randall Smith DDS, Naval Dentists (U.S.M.C. Vet), and dentist from childhood- Never had a dentist cleaned Opposite of Standardized Dental Processes- by 1st applying fluoride, then polish, then remove tartar (clean)- Except for your practice"! McEvoy did not defend his office. But he did Not apologize. He kept his "veteran hygienist". Mistakenly, we continued to support his "practice". McEvoy's FAILED GOLD CROWN WORK: Day of seating, Cindy, a 4 Decade- prideful, True Professional hygienist displayed the Gold Crown- then communicated the entire process to unfold in chronological order. After Cindy set the Crown temporarily, "to check the fit", she pulled the crown- went to speak with McEvoy. Cindy divulged "findings of the Poor fit" to McEvoy. But, McEvoy entered, Never asked about the Crown's fit- immediately cemented the crown- then scurried off! He returned to floss. At no time during the seating appointment did McEvoy: Ask me about the Fit/Feel, use a tool to Probe the margins, Comment about the margin/s, offer a Mirror for me to See my Gold Crown or take a Picture/s of his Failed Crown Work- Period. After setting a Bad Fitted Crown, McEvoy said "your family are nice people". McEvoy then blindside me as I was checking out with an Extra Gold Fee of $82- blaming the lab for Gold cost. But Itemized Quote/Receipt Included Lab Fee of $300.00 for a Gold Crown. Price of Gold Dropped: before, during & since I Paid the Agreed Price! Near $1,000.00 (Paid in Full) for Gold Crown did not satisfy his greed. I confronted McEvoy for his sub-par work causing my Health to Suffer. McEvoy's line of defense was Expected- McEvoy LIED. Using Truth, I tried to motivate him to provide Standardized Results- he Refused! Denying the Truth, he spent 5 minutes: Pretending to "not see anything", Pretending to "not know what I am talking about"! Yet, he then spent 10 minutes Sanding My Gold- Sanding My Teeth- Sanding My Gums- he Burnt my Gums! Unprofessional (nervous), McEvoy did Not secure the Sanding head. With it Spinning in my mouth, it separated from handset- Striking Upper Teeth- dropped in my mouth. Felt as if Teeth Chipped, something popped out of my mouth, I sat up to find a chunk of hard rubber (grateful not teeth), that broke from the tool head. The damage was done & documented before I walked in. The only honest thing he said was, "why did they overbuild it, I do not understand, maybe for strength- there is a lot that goes into this"! But McEvoy Refused to replace the "Oversized Crown". Cindy never defended him- I Thanked Cindy for her integrity. McEvoy was Paid to provide a Gold Crown that meets Dental Standards- a Standard Fit. But McEvoy provided not just any Failed Crown, he set a crown that offers Large Food Traps Promoting Tooth Decay on 2 sides. No pride= No consistent Standards. I brought 6 family members to McEvory's "practice"- but he never cared. Rosell would Never walk away Clients. Our bad experiences with this dentist have been very upsetting and stressful. I tried three times talking to him about the problems but nothing was done to improve things. Because of my Yelp review Dr McEvoy requested in a phone message he left, threatening to sue me for liable, I call him. In that call I asked him what he thought I said in my review wasn't true. After the call I still believe the statements in my first review are all true. My first review, which I removed because of his threats, had details about our dental care in his office but I agreed to leave out the details in this review just so he wouldn't have an excuse to sue me. In addition, I did some research about him suing me for liable as he called it. Here is what I found: "Truth is always a defense to defamation. This is why no business should ever sue for merely getting a "bad review". That will not only reflect poorly on the business's reputation, but it will not get the business far in court for a defamation claim". read more

I love this dentistry! The staff are all so warm and welcoming, and Dr. Rosell is great too! He explains all his work and he is conservative and cost effective. I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of and everything always feels so natural and comfortable here. A major plus is that my kids like coming here. Wow! I called on a Thursday and they were able to get both my husband and I in for new patients on Monday morning. We showed up 10 minutes early and were immediately taken back. Dr Tyrell walked in to my exam room less than 30 seconds after I had sat down myself. He made me feel very comfortable after not having gone to the dentist in a very long time. He pep talked me the whole time he "deep cleaned" my teeth! My teeth fed great and I have definitely found a dentist I will keep coming back to. I found Dr. James Rosell online after having some trouble with the pricing of a different dentist. Dr. Rosell and his team are fantastic, quick, and efficient! Have not seen a dentist in 2 years. Not for lack of trying. Two years ago I went with the DHMO dental plan through my employer not thinking it made a difference. That was a huge mistake. All three DHMO dentists our family wasted our time with had the unprofessional practice of trying to upsell us on treatments we didn't need. We went with our gut and declined any services, which in each case meant the dentists refused to provide our preventative cleaning exams, which were fully covered by the DHMO plan. The experience at Dr. Rosell's office was so refreshing and brought back my confidence in the practice of dentistry. Even after 2 years of not receiving our preventative cleaning exams, Dr. Rosell did an excellent job at cleaning our teeth. There was no talk about how we needed to schedule deep cleanings or needed treatments to address receeding gums or any such nonsense. We were each in and out in an hour. I have been going here for many years. On very rare occasions (like when Dr Roselle is on vacation) I have been to other dentists. I can say without reservation that Dr Roselle is an excellent dentist who does what needs to be done without upselling. If you need a filling he won't recommend a crown for example. The other dentists I have seen (and the one my wife sees) always find things to do. Dr Roselle does what needs to be done, not highly expensive procedures that are optional at best and in reality probably unnecessary. read more

The rest of some of the procedures I was used to having done by a dentist was done by an inexperienced young girl.
