I am new to the area, and I had a dental emergency. I tried calling a few other places that were not helpful at all. When I called Mission, the receptionist was so very kind and helpful. They were able to get me right away for an assessment and back the next day to get the process of a crown started. Excellent care provided. The entire staff were so kind and welcoming. They refer out for root canals to corner stone in San clemente which charge 300.00 for a mandatory CT scan of your mouth. They do not have an option to go anywhere else. Pearl dentistry on Vista offers rootcanals within the CT. They do basic cleaning and after 3 years I decided not to return. I think my Dentical status is the issue. read more

Staff and dentist were friendly enough during my visit, but I would not come here again. I came for a regular cleaning and was told I needed to have 3 cavities filled-- I have only had 1 cavity in my entire life, I go to regular dental appointments, I have excellent dental hygiene, my lifestyle has not changed, and so this was a shock. Also, I was told the cost for these fills (with my insurance) would have been approx $1700! I went to a different dental office for a second opinion, and was told I only needed to have my 1 prior cavity redone, and that I didn't have any other cavities. This would be consistent with the rest of my dental history! That refill cost me $67. I'm so grateful I didn't just take the word of the dentist at mission dental. I would have had unnecessary dental work done for over $1600 more! read more

Extremely unprofessional team. My family member who attended had a very disappointing interaction with staff member Juan Gomez. Insurance was handled poorly, and upon calling our insurance we found out that Mission Dental was telling us we have to pay out of pocket for something our insurance actually covers. Whether it was a mistake or they were purposely lying it's greatly drawn out the amount of time it's taken to get care. We've had a couple Medical approval requests denied for dental work due to Mission Dental taking poor images of the affected tooth. Gomez, who works in billing, told my young family member that she alone is to blame for her dental condition, and that Mission Dental would never tell her they took blurry pictures. I came for two fillings with Dr.Lopez however after the fillings I felt a discomfort when biting. Dr Lopez was so kind in bringing me in the same day I called and taking care of the pain. DISABLED? SINGLE PARENT? SERIOUSLY BEWARE! My experience here was years ago. I have no clue how these people keep paying to have my reviews removed. I have written several reviews that miraculously disappear. It doesn't matter if your face is so swollen that it's about to burst. They will disrespect you, LIE to you, manipulate you, and attack you if they don't like you or simply feel like it. They don't care about provoking you when you're in the most excruciating pain. They will purposely antagonize you and push you into further illness. A male Mexican man who supposedly was the manager at the time even followed me outside to my vehicle after I left, got really close to me as I sat on the ground outside my vehicle desperately looking for my insurance card in my purse. As he towered over me, talking down to me disrespectfully and emotionally abused me outside the business purposely making the situation worse. When I had called to schedule my appointment I let them know how serious the situation was ahead of time. So why didn't they remind me to bring in my insurance card? If it's so imperative why was it not mentioned? I only had enough gas to get there and back home. They refused to see me and put me in a horrible situation where I could not get back to the dental office after locating my insurance card. When you're in that kind of pain it is so difficult to even think straight. They didn't need the actual physical card in order to see me. All they needed was my information, ID, and they could've figured it all out by calling my insurance. Instead they chose to antagonize me and purposely provoke me into further illness. To add insult to injury they called the police on me to try and destroy my fragile family and push me into suicide. They are seriously lucky I am a stronger person than they thought. Otherwise this business would no longer exist and my children would no longer have a mother. Luckily I was blessed with two angels for officers that showed up, saw my face, heard my story, and instead of choosing to push me into insanity, they chose to fill up my gas tank so I could handle my dental crisis. On top of all of my health issues that I am already dealing with, I had a dental crisis and this was my experience with these people. I didn't curse, I didn't scream and yell, I didn't do anything other than speak with a tone of voice that meant I meant business and nearly had a panic attack because of how ugly they were treating me. I honestly don't even know why I went back to try and get help from them after I got gas from the officers they sent me. I guess I was in so much pain I just didn't care and desperately needed help. When I went back, they were so surprised to see me, everyone scurry like rats to hide. It was right then it finally hit me, the actual level of evilness and the lengths they will purposely go to, in order to try and get away with playing God with your oral health and your life. I suffer from cranial swelling that is putting pressure on my optic nerve and can cause me to go blind if it's not under control. With the severity of the infection and swelling in my face I had at that time, I could have gone blind and this dental office would no longer exist after the law suit it would have brought upon itself. I'm taking pictures of this post and if it's removed without my permission again I will be reporting it. I'm once again leaving Mission Dental Care disappointed and frustrated in their scheduling staff. During my first visit, they scheduled me incorrectly and I was forced to once again take time off work and have my planned procedure done on a different day. Now, 6 months later I once again arrived ready for another procedure, it was not scheduled correctly, and was asked to return another day or wait to see if another patient did not show up. Will not be returning. I don't have any complaints about the male Dr. but the rest of the dentists here suck. They will call you to confirm your appointment send you emails but will never communicate when the Dentists are running behind. They will call your name take you to the little room and just leave you there. I don't care if something happened just how you want to make sure the customer is going to show up and not waste your time and money that's how I feel about my time. When the female dentist finally came in, there was no apology. I told her I made my appointment at a certain time because I need to pick up my kids from school she just said I was running behind. Then there was another incident where the staff in the front lied about them not forgetting about the insurance approval for a crown. It's been months and they haven't called me to notify if the insurance approved it or not. Seems to me they forgot to send in the request it doesn't take months to get an approval. I read some of these reviews and I'm disgusted by the racism! I'm caucasian and have no problem with a Spanish dental professional speaking both languages. I can say first hand that the dentist and staff genuinely care about their job. They are friendly and kind and quick to answer any questions and resolve any issues. I have been going to their family practice for years. They were even there during Covid for their patients. My wife took our children to Dr. Sandra Rios, who provided good care for the kids. She identified a cyst, and we had our daughter's tooth removed. Her service was routine, with no hiccups. The problem was with the billing staff. Oceanside is a large military community that utilizes Tricare dental, so I expect local medical providers to be familiar with Tricare's benefits and coverage. Unfortunately, Mission Dental Care falls short. The first time my children were seen, they billed my dental insurance for services that were not coverage, such as "hygiene instruction." They charged $20 simply for telling my children to brush and floss. We called the office, who rescinded the charges. The second time we visited, the office said we would have a small copay, which my wife paid at the front. However, weeks after receiving the treatment, Mission Dental called us and said they made a mistake in overestimating how much Tricare would cover, asking us to come in to pay $14. I am incensed that the office not only made the mistake, but had the audacity to ask us to waste our time and gas to come back and pay extra. I am not saying not to use Mission Dental, but to be weary of their staff, especially for military families. read more

I received extensive dental work for several months and through the entire period, I've experienced nothing but friendliness and professionalism. The vibe in this office is very positive and light-hearted, and the office itself is very tidy. The doctors, especially the one I received most of my work done from, Dr. Rios, seem to take special pride in their work. This made me feel confident that I was receiving the best dentistry I could get and made me eager to see the final outcome which turned out great. The staff, by the end, I could basically call friends; they knew me very well, and most interactions were, again, positive and light-hearted. I believe most times I left the office with a genuine smile. Ultimately, I would recommend Mission Dental Care to anybody looking to get any sort of oral work done and I'm willing to bet you'll find a similar positive experience. The doctors can be nice and very professional but they make you feel that you are their for them and it's their way or the highway. But my main issue is the way that I was treated by Isabel and Sandra in the front office was beyond obsurd. I asked about a payment plan and billing and I was told "maybe you shouldn't be getting dental work done if you can't afford it" then next time I made my appointment I was told not to make the appointment unless I could actually pay for it. Then I got sick the day of my appointment and was throwing up and called the front office to reschedule because of my condition, I didn't think they would appreciate working in my mouth if I was throwing up and highly sick with the flu, I was lectured by the front desk lady about "appointment etiquette" like I was a young child getting in trouble by my parents. When I told them that I would call them back about making an appointment the gal on the phone (Sandra or Isabel) I was told "whatever" and was hung up on before I could finish my statement. On top of all this my appointments were rescheduled with less than an hour notice on their part, they expected me to change my plans for them but if I had an issue where I needed them to re arrange their schedule for me I was causing them an inconvenience and treated with complete disrespect in the process. I will never darken their doorstep and take my money and business elsewhere where I am appreciated and treated with respect. Isabel and Sandra should NOT be working a customer service job if they are going to be disrespectful and rude. I will let everyone I know Emmy experience and make sure that they DO NOT go here for dental care. Another lost loyal client. I brought my daughter here, although the place was very clean and "safe", staff friendly, hardly any wait time. Here is the first neg...Most dentists ve seen through the yrs have8x10 or lrgr. Certificates of Hraduation Degrees etc in Nicer Qulity frameProudly displayed.this place had a cheap frame with all 5 dentists liscences taped in a row printed on paper and cut out about index card sized. I immediately noticed one of them had an Expired liscence...I( took note.)then I was a little put off by the way they addressed my minor child about appt times instead of methena big thing was one of the receptionists asked my Minor child to sign some paperwork and I said" Should' I be signing that? i Im her parent she is a minor.I looked it was a concent form for the changes to treatment plan and. responsible party form.Big NO. There were other things I as un comfortable with as well.Ididnt question it because of being on medical low income and such but I should have and I wont trust so blindly again. Fillings, leaded, never showed Me xrays not even Sure she needed them didnt even use numbing stuff on one wasnt notified about cancelled appointment was hassle to even get there to be told trouble with medi cal.im assuming over expired liscence. If I could give this place NO stars, I would. Being new-ish to the area, and having left a wonderful dentist I loved up north, I hesitantly called 1.800.dentist to get a referral to someone local. I am currently seven months pregnant and had recently lost a filling, which was in need of being replaced. Having a dental background myself, I was apprehensive to go to someone I was unfamiliar with, but trusted that the referral was sound. Boy, was I mistaken! When I spoke to the office yesterday to make the appointment, which was set for 12:45 today, it was explained to me that I would need to get an authorization from my OB to have an X-ray taken. I immediately called my doctor upon hanging up with the dentist office and spoke directly to the office mgr, to get said authorization. She took all the info I gave her and faxed it to them while I was on the phone with her. Fine, great...fast forward to 12:35 the following day. I show up at Mission Dental ten minutes before my scheduled appointment time. I walk in, and stand there for a minute waiting to be greeted or at least told to "sign in", only to be ignored as if I were completely invisible. I sat down for a few minutes waiting for the receptionist to finish up what she was doing (intermittently helping another patient), once she was done I approached and asked if I needed to check in. All she said to me was "yea, sign in there", motioning to a clipboard on the counter. From that point on, I sat for another 30 minutes, watching patient after patient walk in and be courteously addressed as they arrived. The only difference was, they were all spanish speaking and I was not. I didn't realize when I set this appointment that that was a requirement to be acknowledged in that office?!? So finally, the receptionist calls me up to take my payment, as I don't have dental insurance. She takes my card and charges it $39.00 and has me sit back down. Several minutes later I was called back, then told that I'd have to wait a few more minutes for the X-ray unit to be available. I excused myself to use the restroom during this time, only to walk in and find an unflushed toiled.....blech!! I head back to the room, where a few minutes later another person walks in and tells me that they had not received the authorization from my OB for treatment. Mind you, this was already a good 40 minutes into my initial check-in time. I told her that I had sat on the phone with the office manager at my OB's office the day before while she went over with me in detail what was being sent to them for authorization. She insisted they had not received anything from them. I then stated that it would have been nice if this had all been explained to me before they took my credit card and charged an office visit to it, knowing that I would be unable to receive treatment that day. She said they could call his office, but I explained to her that they were out for lunch until 1:30 and I had already been waiting around for quite a while and soon needed to be at work. She commented "40 minutes isn't that long, and your appointment wasn't until 1:00, right?", to which I replied that the appointment was set for 12:45 when I had called the day before. She then said that was to fill out paperwork, which no one ever bothered to explain to me. Again, I said I wish someone had just done me the courtesy of letting me know they didn't have the proper paperwork needed to treat me prior to charging me...she abruptly retorted "its not our fault your doctor's office didn't take care of it". I then got up from the chair and told her I didn't need that kind of attitude, and that I had worked in the dental field and this was not acceptable. I requested a refund to my card, which was given and I promptly left. This is without a doubt the most inefficient dentist office I've ever had the misfortune of encountering, either as a patient or an assistant. Very unprofessional and rude, on every level. So if you call 1.800.dentist for a referral and they try to send you to this operation....RUN!! Run as fast as you can. read more

I'm seeing five star reviews and I thought it was for the wrong dentist. I was shuttled in there. It's like a puppy mill. A female dentist came in. She was very rude and unpleasant. She told me my bridge on the top would have to be taken off and replaced. Really? It's three years old. I'm not sure how she was able to determine all these expensive options for me in three minutes. She gave me two options for the problem I came in with. But then when I went out to the billing dpt. She told me I needed to see another doctor. Then come back to them to get a bridge for 3500. The cheaper option was never brought up I got a phone call when I was sitting in the chair and the Almighty Dentist yelled at me to shut my phone off. Also. When I was in the waiting area the staff started talking about a patient. Then realized I was there and started speaking in Spanish. Age old trick. Awful dentist. The staff was not quite as bad. Really old equipment in the office in a bad neighborhood. Yet they charge or try to charge for work that doesn't need to be done. Negative five stars read more
