I can't say enough positive about OCLI, and whike I'm not done with my care.... I did want to post my thoughts. My eyesight had deteriorated after leaving the hospital, and went to Pearl for a long overdue exam. The Dr immediately said there was a bigger issue than he could handle and referred me to OCLI. While waiting for my appointment in Massapequa, I woke up largely blind in my right eye with long black strands over my field of vision. We called, and they were kind enough to move up our appointment... but in Huntington. Lots of tests and looking and meeting DR Bloom and Dr Brennan. I had bad cataracts on both eyes.... very bad in right along with what appeared to be some bleeding. To make a long story shorter..... Dr Bloom did both eyes, with the left being better IMMEDIATELY.... and ending up with 20/30 vision! The right did have some bleeding, but thankfully no retna issue.... just blood. DR Brennan tried several shots to clear it up, but surgery is necessary. We'll do that 11/19, From both doctors to everyone at the office, I've felt cared for and lucky to have found OCLI! read more

( Dr. Bloom )I took my grandmother here for pain she experienced in her eye that was terrible her face was droopy and she was in pain. We went here she sat here for an hour he finally came in the room looked at her for 2 minutes and told her she had dry eye not to mention he was so beyond rude it's like an aggressive rude personality. We were rushed out and can you believe he missed the fact that she had experienced a stroke????? I am sick over this she spent the day in the ER, and the doctors there TOLD HER THE DOCTOR MAJORLY FUMBLED THE BAG HERE MISSING KEY SIGNS AND ADVISED US TO NEVER TO RETURN!!!!!!!! I unfortunately i encountered a very very NASTY receptionist at front desk Ms.Flores younger woman with glasses didn't even greet me hello was greeted with is a service dog in your bag I responded yes she attacked me with I need to see his documents I showed her his Id was told not good enough I had to email her all paperwork meanwhile I have been coming her for last 5 years . This is an "assembly line" practice and you are a number, not a human with fears and concerns. No hands will be held , no panic attacks will be given a soft old wool plaid blanket and a cup of hot cocoa. (READ the LONG review on here by Delores D. ) The doctor was blunt and to the point with me and I really felt like I was another cash grab. He lacked COMPASSION and for the love of God; it's your EYES that are in his hands ! Not your knee or elbow; YOUR EYES. The procedure I was to have was merely "preventative". I asked "Will my vision improve -- even a little bit?". He said "No , but it will probably not get worse". The FINAL STRAW: I am not afraid to admit this ; I am a VERY superstitious person and highly into "numbers". My appointment for this sketchy "procedure" was on the 13th of March at 3:30 PM ! My BAD numbers are 3, 13, 33, etc. 9 is bad too -- it's 3 threes ! 12 is bad because 1 = 2 = 3. So you get my drift. I canceled the appointment and my vision , never got any worse - 5 years later ! Still the same. (Fortunately the problem was only in ONE eye). They were also VERY aggressive over the phone with forcing me to reschedule. Lastly , the waiting room was PACKED with appointments -- NEVER a good sign. But this is over crowded & obnoxious Long Island , would you expect anything less? The receptionist at the front desk literally had 1question and 1 statement for me when I walked in. "Last name?" I proceeded to tell her. "You just made it, we only give a 15 minute grace period for appointments. So I held it together and told her to just reschedule me. She then asked why. I then told her that I don't like to be talked to that way. It was 10 min after my appointment and within my 15 min grace period. Caveat emptor. Medical practice has been damaged forever by the government, and this office is a prime example. I've seen two of these doctors, Bloom and Brennan. Their "bedside manner" stinks. They're affable enough, but one gets the feeling that they're poised to take off; in fact, if you pause to take a breath while you're asking a question, they're already at the door. Most of this is not their fault, I guess, but it leads to carelessness. I've waited for up to two hours in this office. They're extremely overbooked, and, when asked why, the receptionists say they have nothing to do with booking. Northwell, the company they work for, squeezes the most out of the practices they run, and this can ruin lives. The time I spent in a Northwell hospital last winter was torture; everything and almost everyone in it were a nightmare, except for the food, which I couldn't eat. The reason I'm writing this review is to alert people to be very careful here. I'm a former healthcare professional and I think I'm in a position to evaluate this fairly. I was being worked up for cataract surgery on my right eye. I obtained the three medications for pre op and post op administration to begin three days before surgery. When it was time to begin the process, I read the directions; two of them said to put the drops into the wrong eye, the one that was not being operated on, and the third said to put the drops into the wrong eye before surgery and put them in the other eye after surgery. Had I followed these directions--not having had the privilege of a two minute discussion with the doctor about what they were or why I needed them or if I had been a little stupid or trusting--I might have showed up for surgery with the operative eye unprepared. The doctor, assuming the drops had been administered, might have gone on and operated on an unprepared eye. What might have happened then? Maybe I'm superstitious, but, back in the day, we used to say that hospital disasters always happen to healthcare professionals. And they seemed to; cardiac arrest in the OR of the chief of something's nine-year-old stands out as a great example. In my own experience, my unborn baby's heart stopped when the doctor had two feet braced on the OR table and two hands pulling her out with mid forceps. I had an immediate up and down incision, and felt four hands digging in my abdomen, and then was crash induced. The baby was delivered in about three minutes. (It took me a few years to get over the experience.) The last thing I knew was that my baby's heart had stopped. I woke up in an empty recovery room, crying for my baby. I didn't see anyone for maybe half an hour to let me know my baby was alive. Here's the sad ending of the eye story. I tried calling the ophthalmologic practice all day yesterday to let them know I would not be having the surgery tomorrow. Several times, I waited in the queue about twenty minutes and then was directed to hang up, assured they would call me back. They did not. In the late afternoon, not wanting to be a deadbeat, I sent a text message, saying I was cancelling surgery, and, about ten minutes later, I received a call from them, asking me to hold on to speak to a healthcare professional who was returning my call. I held on and was connected to a recording, asking me to record my message. I sent another text, explaining what happened. I didn't hear back from them. What a clown show. Today, I was called by the OR facility where I was supposed to have the surgery. They hadn't gotten the message that I tried to convey all day yesterday. I explained what happened to the alert and intelligent seeming nurse to whom I spoke. Maybe she'll be successful in telling the practice what happened. Maybe not. read more

I visited OCLI on the recommendation of the doctor where I had my eye exam. I was complaining of seeing a dark spot in the vision of my right eye and was concerned it was related to a medication I take. Over the span of a week I saw Drs. Brennan and Bloom and had my eyes dilated by both. $576 later, neither an explain the dark spot and I have no official diagnosis. I was told to try over the counter eye drops (which anyone with common sense can tell you isn't going to solve the problem). Since visiting the vision in my right eye has gotten significantly worse. At my original eye exam there was no change in my prescription. 2 months later I had to get a new prescription and I still feel like I'm not seeing well from that eye. I should really go back for a follow-up but their prices are exorbitant and I have no confidence in the healthcare provided here. I should have walked out the minute I stepped foot in their facility and saw all the people waiting and all of the signs posted about this fee or that fee. I arrived at 10:25 for a 10:45 appointment. The parking lot can hold about 40 cars and there was not a single spot open. I waited 10 minutes for someone to pull out so I could park. Go inside and see that the large waiting room is completely packed with people waiting. After 10 minutes I saw a receptionist. I asked her how long the wait will be "Over an hour". I left. My time is valuable too. I will not be back! If you like feeling that you are in a factory and like waiting over an hour to see the Dr then this is your place. read more

I have been going here for years today I stopped. I was a patient of Dr Davis for years and years, he left and the place and it became a factory. I had a 9 o'clock appointment and was still waiting at 930, not the end of the world even though my time is as important as theirs, I heard the guy in front of me who was waiting to see my Dr complain he was already sitting there over an hour. it was so packed I had to stand and everyone was complaining. I get it sometimes things happen, but this happen the last time I was there and to friends who told me they went the day before and walked out after waiting an hour and a half. The Health care in this country is becoming a joke. The greed and that's all I can call it , that these Doctors treat there patience like cattle to make more money . Review is on customer service only, I never got to see dr. I came here for 2nd opinion on eye condition. Waited 40 min to be called. The guy who brought me in exam room was extremely abrasive. He was very aggressive and demanding right from the get go. He wanted to know the name of Dr I went to. I told him that's irrelevant and I don't feel comfortable mentioning his name. He then asked did I bring any report or paperwork from other dr. I said no but I know what other Dr. Said I had and I just want to confirm it because I don't want to fool around with my eye. He got all defensive and called in the manager. Mind you this guy ALREADY has me worked up. The young women manager came and she was just as bad as he was. I said what difference does it make who the dr was? I told her the other guy was extremely rude and abrasive and she defended him right away saying he's been here awhile and a good worker. As a manager if I was called in the FIRST thing I would do would be to calm the patient down and deescalate the situation. She basically threw more gas on the fire then said I have to ask you to leave. She spoke to me for about 30 secs.Never in my life have I been treated like that. All they had to do were to have the Dr come in and I would have explained everything to him. In this office the customer's always wrong. I love my doctors but whoever is managing this practice is just horrible. It truly is booked like a factory. They are overbooked, not enough seats for patients. People even waiting in cars because they are so over booked. The receptionist are rude because they are overwhelmed. The turnover is unbelievable. Every time I come in the have a entire new staff. They send you reminder texts that your appointment is at 9:15, please be on time, etc. and then you are there for over an hour! my husband developed a very bad sty ? in his right eye today, red and very swollen. we've been patients here for 20 years and decided to go to OCLI ( formerly Precision eye). granted it was a Saturday and we didn't have an appointment but the facility was open and we felt more comfortable going to see a bona fide eye professional than going to an urgent care. well, guess what? we were turned away, without any hesitation or conferring w a doctor as to whether he could be quickly evaluated. I can see now why the other reviews of OCLU are negative. we are considering finding a more patient friendly eye care situation. they did not even try to find an appt for him for this Monday. not good , customer service department in eye glass shop made in error and I the customer has to pay the price. Jorge the Manager did nothing to help , the only thing he did was to make matters worse . I have been going to this place for years and they don't seem to care . I have had issues with glasses that have broken and screws that keep coming out , and all they do is apply tape ( maybe it's just bad products ) . The last issue was they used my insurance when they where not supposed to and totally messed me up for the year and will not reverse it !!!!!!! Bad communication , they do not listen. I have been seeing Dr. Adam Bloom here at OCLI for many years. He most recently performed cataract surgery on me. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Bloom. He had a challenge doing my surgery because I had RK done over 20 years ago. Due to the existing cuts on my iris, he had to work around them to insert the new lens. It was not an easy process, and he did a remarkable job. He exceeded my expectations. I give Dr. Bloom the highest grade possible for his expertise. Regarding OCLI, I am not so happy. They overbook appointments and you are guaranteed a long wait. There is often some chaos due to the number of patients they try to push through. I have frequently seen people overlooked as they are waiting. The care you get may well be worth the wait. read more

Now, 100% of the calls go to call centers (not even sure they are within the USA) and I waited 4 hours simply to make an appointment. Sadly, it has become an impersonal, money-grubbing factory. My wife and kids go here and persuaded me to make the change as well. Nice. clean surroundings. I was there for my annual eye exam. Front reception staff were courteous, as was the technician. The physician was very informative and answered all of my questions. I was in and out of the place within an hour of my scheduled appointment (an annual comprehensive examination). Precision Eye Care was a wonderful practice until the hedge fund-backed OCLI took over. While the doctors are excellent and the staff generally friendly, the management of this practice is terrible. I waited for two hours in a very crowded waiting room on my last visit - and I mean "last" literally. After this final unpleasant experience, I have taken my business elsewhere, and I was a patient for more than 20 years. OCLI has just ruined everything. You must do all transactions on line; you can never speak to anyone. Requesting my medical records was a misery - software issues on OCLI's end - and they didn't even deliver the records correctly! Our internist recommended my husband see a neuro ophthalmologist last month and gave us a referral. When we realized this new doctor was affiliated with OCLI, we found one that wasn't. We won't do business with OCLI any more and suggest you don't either. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I was a long time patient at this practice as well as my children. Unfortunately they are now a corporate takeover with zero customer service. I saw a doctor which I will not name for the first time because the person I see each year was not available . He went through my exam very quickly and when I expressed that I had concern all of a sudden his focus became on dictating to the nurse a change of codes. Upon reflecting on my visit I was quite concerned and called back several times to speak to the doctor. No response. When I called back to speak about billing due to incorrect coding as told by my insurance company, no response. I've literally left several messages no response. They no longer care about the patient. This were once a wonderful practice with caring doctors and staff. No longer. My entire family will not be returning. The office manager has been contacted several times to respond to my concerns and has yet to return one call. This office needs check and balances. read more

The doctors are wonderful! However, the eyewear section is awful! The rudest people ever- I purchased an expensive pair of glasses which continued to loosen and get out of shape- after I returned the second time to get them adjusted, I was told they didn't have time to do it- that I must be doing something to create the problem.. I ended up going elsewhere, where they were fixed ( by bare hands) in 10 seconds. I will never return there to purchase glasses again!! read more

Very disappointed since OCLI took over. Was given wrong information about how to use a prescription that was given to me which caused redness and discomfort in both my eyes. Had to go back to the doctors because of this. Doctor prescribed another medication which my insurance requires a authorization which they couldn't be bothered to do. I have no complaints against the doctors that work here, but ever since Dr. Davis retired and OCLI took over, the customer service has significantly gone downhill. I was a patient under OCLI years ago but had moved and switched to Dr. Davis- then OCLI took over. and instead of billing the insurance on file and sending bills to my current address which was up to date under Dr. Davis' office, they decided to send it to my old address on the OCLI file, which I never received. I was notified at my last visit that I had a balance from a year ago - which is now way too late to submit through the insurance from a year ago. after multiple calls and conversations, "customer service" told me there was nothing that could be done and it was my problem. After getting off the phone with billing for the second time, they lowered my bill but I was still responsible for the balance - something that insurance would have covered. Oh, and I have to pay it "today" - If I think about it and call back, she doesn't know what will happen. So beyond extremely frustrated and angry. OCLI needs to do better. read more

I broke my glasses and needed new ones. I went to the doctor, he got the prescription, and I went next door to get it filled. I found a frame that I absolutely loved, and it fit my head exactly. The glasses came back in two days, and I put them on, and had immediate nausea. The optician, Deo, made several adjustments, and I left. But the nausea was still there. I made an appointment to have the prescription verified, and the doctor confirmed it, but also noted that sometimes a severe prescription like mine could cause nausea, even with a slight change. We backed down to my original prescription, and they re-ordered the glasses. Today, I went back to get them, and they are wonderful! Nicole was extremely patient with making sure they fit perfectly. Best part? There was no charge for the second prescription check, nor any charge for the new lenses. read more

Terrible experience!!!! On the exam side, I was informed that they could tell me my prescription after a read the chart, but I would need to pay an extra $50 for the refraction portion of the exam. I called my insurance company after and they told me that the refraction is included in the exam I'm covered for. I will say that I like the doctors there, but it's as close to "take a number and move through the factory stations" as can be. Next door in the optical shop was the really awful part. DO NOT GO THERE!!!! I stepped next door just to have my glasses tightened. I had originally purchased them there, as well as the last 4-5 pairs of glasses I've had. The lady happily took my glasses in the back and then returned shortly after to tell me that she broke the frames. I was only offered a 20% discount-I would have to pay the other 80%. I was told that because they were several years old, they were effectively worthless. Yet I went in with perfectly fine glasses and ended up having to now purchase new ones. I had a really good experience here. I was running late to my appointment they were okay with this and still took me in very fast. My exam was so quick and the lady in the eye glass store was a big help. She also checked my insurance to see exactly what was covered and a detailed print out. Not many places will do that. The actual doctors are great. The process before you see the doctor is not. They treat the place like a factory if you ask for clarification and it is not part of the script they use they get annoyed. I asked for a measurement of my pupil distance and they won't give it to you. It is like your general physics saying they won't tell your your height. I won't be coming here anymore. read more
