This is the place to get coffee on Ocracoke. The coffee is great. They have a large menu of fruit and coffee-based smoothies, as well as every type of coffee drink or iced beverage you could want. They have wifi, and they are attached to a thrift store, which is pretty unique. They sell bagels, but you have to get there early because they're usually sold out when I go around 11. They have the most amazing muffins. I am a muffin aficionado but I usually only eat them on vacation, which is good because these muffins are huge and heavy and moist (sorry, gross word), and must have a thousand calories. They have a rotating lineup of varieties, including a delicious cappuccino muffin, an orange-cranberry, and a pound cake muffin with chocolate cake inside. Scones and cinnamon buns too. Really, really good. The only downside to Ocracoke Coffee can be the line. It's a small place, and there are usually only 2 people working, so with all the smoothie orders the place can get crowded and the wait can be awhile. I once had an awkward encounter with someone who tried to sneak in front of me in line, but he failed miserably. You're not keeping me from my coffee and muffin, sir! read more

Bar none, this is THE coffee and breakfast destination on Ocracoke Island! My only qualm with this gem of a spot is the fact that I did not know it existed for the first two days I was on Ocracoke! This place reminds me of all my favorite cafes with super easygoing and friendly baristas, delicious coffees, great bagels/granola/baked goods, tons of outdoor seating, and friendly dogs roaming around looking to get pet. Yes, the line can get a little long at times but the experience is worth it, and aren't you on vacation anyway? What's the big rush? Though I could see how that may be a pain if you were a local... Nonetheless, this is a great spot to enjoy your caffeinated beverage of choice and a bite to eat while relaxing on one of many chairs in the big front yard or porch amongst all your fellow vacationers and some native Ocracokers. Believe me, there is a great community vibe at this coffee spot and a visit here is a wonderful way to spend an hour or so before hitting the beach. To make matters even more insanely awesome, they also make delicious smoothies and offer free wi-fi. As Jerome H. said, "this place is an island paradise onto itself." On a side note to further illustrate how great this joint is, a barista tapped me on the soldier while I was on line one day to compliment me on my t-shirt (which was of my favorite band, The Gaslight Anthem). He told me that he too was a fan, and that he would play their albums all day if not for needing to diversify things for his coworkers from time to time. Phenomenal. read more

Note: This review is based on the smoothies. I don't like coffee, never have, never will, but they looked like they had some interesting flavors. These smoothies are to die for and they're made from real fruit. I can tell and I asked to double check. I hate it when they are sugary mixes. These are the real thing. There were plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy your drink of choice to include Adirondack chairs, bar stools and a cute little swing. They have free Wi-Fi and many people were outside with their pets and checking their email. I had a "smoothie treat" which was made of Hershey's chocolate, milk and strawberries. My boyfriend enjoyed a berry tea smoothie which I stole several sips of and enjoyed as well, which is saying a lot, because I don't like tea either. Yes, there is a lot I don't like. Great coffee! It was nice to get out of this heat and enjoy a couple iced coffees. I had a coconut mocha and my wife a vanilla latte. Prices aren't bad either for the "fancy" coffees like we had, about $4-5. They have cookies and muffins too and plenty of seating inside and out. I would've loved to have spent more time here with a good book while my crazy family could run around all over the island. read more

Spent the weekend camping on Ocracoke, and so in order to prepare for a day on the beach I was in need of a nice cool drink. We found Ocracoke Coffee Co on our first day and were happy to return as long as our trip lasted. With ample seating inside and out, the whole shop had your quintesential beach atmosphere. The baristas were friendly and helpful and made killer smoothies. So good I gave up my coffee for the trip. I started with mango blues my first trip and it was delicious. Blueberries and mango among other fresh fruit. I wanted a bagel to go with it but apparently I was too late. So go early if you want one! I opted for a muffin instead and it was one of the better muffins I have had in a while. Our second trip, I tried a Strawberry Mango Freeze. Still good, but heavier on the strawberries. And this time I got my bagel! Slightly bread but still hit the spot. I suggest going with the jam for a topping, it was DELICIOUS. If you are looking for some souveniors, they have some of those too! Definitely a cool place to come an relax, located on back street you will even be away form the main hustle and bustle of the main highway. Definitely recommend! read more

Horrible place the staff doesn't want to work and it shows. We ordered 20 ounce coffees and they couldn't remember what size we ordered so they gave us the 16 ounce . I said something and they poured our coffee into a bigger cup and instead of adding more coffee they dumped more ice in the cup. So we paid 60 cents more for ice ! read more

Came here on the recommendations of the locals and we were not disappointed in the coffee at all! The vanilla caramel latte is super yummy as well as their blueberry muffins! I think everyone who was awake on the island at 7am was here even i arrived. After seeing the baked goodies and the aroma of coffee, i soon knew why. Plenty of space inside and out to relax and enjoy a cup of joe alone or with friends. My cappuccino was perfect and dub the day old scone i picked out from the basket was fresh. My wife had the iced vanilla latte on Wednesday and a Trail Mix latte. She enjoyed both. Service was quick and friendly. Restroom was clean too. Loved this place when we visited a few weeks past, only weird was on one visit at about 430pm one day the doors were unlocked,all lights were on and no one was there. No one in bathroom, nothing. I would be upset if it was my business. Anyone could walk off with stuff. Like the person left and forgot to lock up, it was really weird. read more

We have been to Ocracoke 8 different times and until this year have always enjoyed Ocracoke Coffee. The place has been popular so there is often a line and a wait for your beverage and muffin (or cake, or scone, or bagel - it's all good). So we were happy as we approached the place this time around because there was no line. But inside, the two young guys who were waiting on people were so interested in talking to each other (and a few locals who seemed to be friends of theirs) they forgot about the customers. While they moved like molasses, we waited even with no line for them to get around to us. Too much attitude, not enough service. Too bad. read more

The only reason that I took a star off is because it is so popular that the line is usually 10-15 minutes to get a coffee. The coffee is flavorful and robust, the baked goods are incredible and the service is awesome. We love the atmosphere and vibe. A lot of other people do too, so go early. read more

if you only want to serve locals, you should seriously put a sign up that says Locals Only! This place actually put the fire under my bum to write a review; I've never written one before. Indeed, the place has good coffee and bagels. However, the service was not only bad but made me feel completely unwelcome in the town until my hotel clerk and every single other person I interacted with showed warmth and respect. I visited in November. First morning I walked in it took the barista 5 minutes to even acknowledge me across the counter, and the place was empty besides his friend he was serving. A woman next to me said "it's the end of the season" and gave me a knowing look. I felt unwelcome but returned the next day anyway, hoping maybe he would recognize me and serve me without a big todo. Next day was worse. If you aren't a tourist at Ocracoke coffee (maybe only off season?) you're left out to dry. There were customers drinking coffee but no one behind the counter. So I stood there patiently. Apparently, according to subsequent customers/locals/employees that walked in the door, if no one is there to serve you, you take a cup and pour your own coffee from a carafe hidden on the right. You are out of luck if you want a muffin or espresso, which the business is there to sell. A business shouldn't rely on community members to GRUDGINGLY say "there's coffee over here, for locals, just take a cup and stuff and dollar in the jar" It didn't make me feel a cool "island vibe" at all. I'm sitting in the Ocracoke Coffee Company, sipping great iced coffee and using the free wi-fi to post this review. I'm on vacation with the family and while it's nice to be on a secluded island off the coast of North Carolina, I don't have phone service and I was feeling a bit too far removed from reality. My sister and I are taking advantage of the caffeine and the free Internet connection. I think quite a few other visitors do the same thing, even after closing. We saw two cars in the lot last night and inside each was the glow of a laptop screen. Anyway, this place is great...good coffee, friendly service and free wi-fi. The AC is kickin' too. It's a great place to beat the heat at noon until you are ready to get back to the beach. read more

This is really 3.5 stars. As an eatery, I love their coffee, bagels, pastries, atmosphere. As a business model, this place moves slower than molasses. I know I live in NYC and expect coffee pretty much right when my eyelids go up. The line rivals anything else on the island easily. I love the outdoor seating so me and my dog can stretch out. I really wish their coffee mugs weren't an arm and a leg. $20 and up is just not worth it for a great souvenir. read more

This is the type of coffee house that belongs on an island. Giant outdoor seating area, beautiful location. I think about his little coffee hut a few times a year, and always go back to it while visiting Ocracoke Island. The coffee itself is decent. It's not an absolutely amazing roast, but for one of the first times the location, and ambiance of this little island coffee shop push it to five stars none the less. This is our favorite place on the island hands down. Atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Always great conversation. The new owners have picked up where the old owners left off, if it isn't broke don't fix it !! So glad menu and employees are the same. Ok coffee. Rude service. They have a large drink menu and we stood back to read the menu. Before we had time to look over the menu we were asked multiple times what we wanted. The worst was the young man behind the counter. I had stepped inside with our new puppy in my arms. When he saw me he said "I can't have that dog in here. That's not cool". I think something along the lines of "Miss, dogs are welcome on the outside decks only" would have been much more appropriate. Also, there is a lot of outdoor seating. After the heavy rain this morning it would have been nice if they'd dried off a few tables & chairs. read more
