I lived in Brooklyn, NY for a little while before moving down to NC so I was having all the cravings for a good NY bagel with lox. After a bunch of research, my husband and I decided to give Giovanni's a try. The place itself is clean, well kept and there are plenty of tables all around. The lady who took our order didn't hold a long conversation but she was super nice. We each ordered the Lox All The Way on sesame bagels and they were so good! The lox to cream cheese ratio was on point. There were great amounts of tomato, capers and sliced red onions to bring out all the flavors without the sandwich itself being overpowering. Came here to grab a quick lunch before kayaking nearby. The place was clean and had lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were friendly. We ordered the lox, the spicy sophia bagel, and a cold brew. Both came out pretty quickly and were solid bagels. Overall a nice spot for a quick bite! read more

I have been to this establishment 3 times now. The first time was amazing. Great service and wonderful bagels, the last 2 times have been terrible. I understand it's tourist season and they are busier but the 2 older ladies that work the front are self aware of their behavior. The entire point of door dash and call ahead orders are to just pick up and go. They will let the customer sit there on the side forever while taking others orders and at the same time not even acknowledging the customer that has already paid and order has been ready. They are very snippy when you try to get their attention. The when you finally get their attention they didnt even give my correct order. I will not be going back for this reason. Cute little bagel place! I ordered just an Asiago bagel with plain cream cheese. I was hoping the bagel would have that more 'asiago-ness' flavor, similar to what I get at Panera bread, but it was more plain than expected. That's okay though. It was still really good. My fiancé ordered the spicy Sophia bagel sandwich and it had very good flavors. Not so spicy. Seemed like a very popular choice because the next two customers ordered the same thing. Extremely overpriced and extremely slow service. Bagels are ok but when someone asks for a toasted bagel, please toast the bagel. That way they won't be so chewy. I asked for extra Taylor ham on my bagel both times I went. The first visit I got it when I ate there but the second time I ordered in my to go order, I definitely did not get extra Taylor ham but was charged for it. Not worth the money. $26 for two Taylor ham, egg and cheese bagels. That's crazy! read more

Stopped by the new Giovanni's Brooklyn Bagels shop in Swansboro on a Sunday morning. I was surprised to see that it was quite busy! The staff were quick about entering orders in and the wait time was pretty short considering the amount of customers! There were plenty of fresh delicious bagels to choose from, all of which are displayed so you know which bagels are available. The menu is very easy to read and is filled with tons of delicious options ranging from a handful of flavored cream cheeses, different types of breakfast sandwiches, a variety of drinks, etc. In addition to the bagels being perfect (crisp on the outside, soft on the inside), they also come with the PERFECT amount of cream cheese. The true NY way. The store itself is beautifully decorated and comfortable. There is seating inside and outside so there is plenty of space for customers to eat in if they choose to. This is a nice hidden bagel spot in Swansboro. I came in one day while exploring the area and bought a double fudge chocolate muffin for my boyfriend, it must've been good because I never got to try it! So on a late evening walk with my bf I brought him here and we decided to try the salmon sandwich and a breakfast sandwich, and they didn't disappoint us. Their sandwiches as well as their staff and vibes were great! I recommend this place if you're in Swansboro because I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in town. read more

My first interaction with Giovanni's was when they built their Morehead City location. The owners and employees are so kind at each location, they love being a part of the community and enjoy what they do. It shows in the quality of their food, too! The prices are very reasonable and they have a points system for rewards. They remember their regulars. Everything is so delicious, and there is something for everybody. Breakfast sandwiches, SO many bagel options, pretzels with both savory and sweet dips available, cinnamon rolls and muffins. I promise you'll find something worth trying! The Swansboro location in particular is so cute. If it's nice out, eat outside. There are plenty of little spots out there and usually a dog water bowl for your pups! We got the lox on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and another jalapeño cheddar bagel with their veggie cream cheese. SO GOOOOOD. Can't recommend more. The woman who took our order was very nice too. The bagels are soft and the fillings amazing! Go get one! read more

The bagel was good. The overall place was exceptionally cute with a great location by the water. I hate to give a bad review on a small business and I'm sure all the other staff is great. However, I was met with immediate attitude as soon as I arrived from the cashier. I have worked in customer service/food service industry for 15 years and the industry isn't for everyone. Maybe she was just having a bad day not sure. I ordered 1 bagel and 2 cold brew coffees. The screen said 3 bagels and 2 coffees I calmly explained this to her and she was extremely rude instead of calmly explaining my screen was frozen she just proceeded to tell me I was wrong. Then she asked if I wanted ice in my cold brew I said yes please and she openly sighed and rolled her yes at me. I'm not sure what I did that made her so angry but I came in excited to try this place and with a good attitude and left in a bad mood. read more

Nice little shop we were excited to try based on other reviews. Our experience here was ok across the board, from service to food. I am not a fan of food cooked in a microwave and our breakfast sandwiches tasted exactly like those served at a Dunkin Donuts. This place was awesome when it first opened. The owner would be there almost every time I arrived to greet you with conversation and a smile. It has gone down hill the last two visits. Today we went for a half dozen bagels with cream cheese. The young blonde at the counter said hardly two words to us neither was a hello or good morning she appeared aggravated. We waited over 20 minutes for an 8 ounce container of strawberry cream cheese?? As we didn't order anything hot or ready made which was unnecessary as they were not visually busy . I watched for twenty minutes the blonde taking orders eat A WHOLE BAGEL as she checked customers out and placed bagels into bags GROSS. Chewing while ringing customers out. No gloves or hand washing in between her bites and putting customers bagels into bags. Huge health hazard coming from a local nurse. I still gave three stars because the bagels are delicious. Please have a health safety and professionalism discussion with your staff. I know tourists will frequent this spot but you should be more concerned with locals wanting to return as we keep businesses afloat in off season. read more

me and my boyfriend + friends visted emerald isle for a bit and we just tried here. for me personally, the bagels werent the best. i got the cinnamon raisin, jalapeno cheddar, & blueberry. all are quite lackluster. the raisin has a weird aftertaste & the jalapeno one barely has jalapeños!!! just a slice of cheese baked on it. the blueberry is fine, nothing special. but the bagels themselves arent great, the outside is very soft (i prefer a harder outside texture with a soft inside. quite disappointed) the cashier was nice. couple people there too, nice lobby aswell. id say 4/10 read more
