So let me start off by saying this, to all my fellow Yelpers. I challenge you to donate blood or…read moreeven better, plasma to the American Red Cross or your local blood bank. People all over our great nation need your donation. Hey that rhymed. Anyways, I had the opportunity to donate the other day and what a positive experience. From the nice lady who checked me in, to Nurse Vanessa who withdrew my donation. I hope I remembered your name. Plus I love how American Red Cross updates you on where your donation went. So cool in my books. Stop with all the excuses and get out there and give the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you American Red Cross for all you do.

At one time in my life, I donated blood at the American Red Cross in Tracy, California. I donated…read morefor years and several times annually. My mother and I have committed to begin donating as often as they will let you here in the Turlock, California location at 655 Hawkeye which is super clean and very well organized. They also say they are in continuous need of platelet donations as this type of donation goes to help those with cancer as an example. They are also forthcoming as to the differences in platelet versus a standard blood donation. This means plan on being there for at least 2 hours. One day I'd like to do this but not at this time. We had such an enjoyable experience here; everyone was so nice and down-to-earth. I've never had a donation move so swiftly; done in just over 20 minutes! + Zero bruising for me and my mom with the fragile body; skin and all. They took wonderful attentive care of her. They have a snack table there as usual and customary filled with sweet foods and juices and water since you have to stay for a few minutes afterward to ensure you replace some of the nutrients you are missing not to mention the fluid volume reduction. PERKS! * They have an online portal in which, as required, you'll locate a lengthy questionnaire that must be completed prior to each donation. I understand they have an APP too for convenience. * You can also fill out this form on their website. I recommend doing that if possible as it saves you time. * Plenty of parking with a clean parking lot as well that is handicapped friendly. *The act of donating is such a precious priceless gift is humanitarian and philanthropic and feels wonderful and caring & helps so many.

Just had my first experience here donating plasma this week. Although the check in process the…read morefirst time was quite lengthy, I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff. They were professional, efficient and caring. The real MVP of the day was my phlebotomist Nayeli. It was the most gentle phlebotomy experience I've ever had, making the entire experience extremely worthwhile. Huge thank you to her for the expertise in her craft, I hope I get her every time The way some patients were treating the staff during my only encounter there was truly shocking. So anyone who doesn't go based on reviews online should definitely go check it out for themselves. I dealt with at least 10 incredibly compassionate people working there. I did get turned away the second appt due to my bruising, but they did it nicely and with a great explanation why. No need to yell at the staff who are simply doing their job. If you get turned away, handle it gracefully and come back another time instead of yelling and being rude. Can't wait to go back. Earning a little money while doing something that helps a lot of people is a win in my book.

Most of the staff at BioLife are really friendly and welcoming, which I appreciate. The place is…read moreusually pretty packed, so you do have to be a little patient, but the staff really tries their best to keep things moving and make sure everyone is doing okay. My only issue is that there are two specific girls who tend to hurt my arm when placing the needle. That being said, they're always very nice and constantly check in to make sure everything is going well, so I still appreciate their kindness and professionalism. If you're planning to donate, definitely remember to drink plenty of water beforehand and eat a good meal before going. Also, be prepared to be there for a while your first visit--mine took about two hours since there's paperwork and the initial screening. One thing I've noticed is that every once in a while you'll see donors being rude to the staff, which is unfortunate because the employees are clearly working hard and doing the best they can in a busy environment. Overall, it's a busy place but the staff's friendliness makes the experience better. Just come prepared, be patient, and stay hydrated.

I donated blood today aboard the Blood Center's Mobile Unit, parked by GB3 at Palm and Nees,…read moreFresno. I had scheduled an appointment for 1pm. As soon as I approached the bus, the side door opened and the staff welcomed me in. The process begins with ID check and getting you in the system. That takes place in a small area, separate from the main section to ensure patient privacy. For Step 2, you sit in a booth in the main area. Another nurse checks vital signs and she will perform a finger poke to check your hemoglobin, which is your iron level in your blood. If it is too low you cannot donate blood. Next you fill in a health questionnaire. Don't stress as it is not a complete health history! The questions were to check whether you had been in any situations where you were exposed to hepatitis or HIV, and other infections in the past 3 months. The answers were simple YES/NO answers and completed on a tablet. Now you get to recline on one of their extremely comfortable exam beds. The patient before me told the nurse he had taken a nap during his donation! My nurse, Andrea, pumped up my arm with the blood pressure cuff and had me squeeze a ball to make the veins pop out. Then she relaxed the cuff and proceeded to swab my arm clean. Next thing I felt a slight prick on the anterior surface of the elbow and voila! the butterfly needle was already in place and the blood was draining down the tubing into the collection bag. She checked if I was doing alright, instructed me to relax, and requested that I sporadically clench and unclench my fist during the donation. This prevents your blood draining into the hand instead of the collection tubing. Within 30minutes I was all done! Andrea offered me snacks and bottled water, telling me there was no rush to stand up. Thank you to the 3 great nurses who took care of me today 11/11/22. I look forward to donating again in January as you suggested.

I've been coming here for a few months and today the girl with the blonde hair that assisted me was…read moreso rude not only did I get my hair pulled twice or three times but no kind of customer service whatsoever just plain rude. My girlfriend also went and she also had a passive aggressive attitude w her. As much as I wanted to complain and say something, it was already the end of their shift, which might be why she was so unprofessional and inconsiderate. A simple asking me to move my hair out the way could've sufficed as I don't know when they're going to grab my arm to place blood pressure cuff. And still afterwards she presses on the wound firmly. I've came here before, and I've never had. This kind of experience is normally super nice efficient and prompt when it comes to these things she must be new or something.
