The beef and pork blend was amazingly seasoned, tender and juicy, the broth inside the dumplings was warm and tasty. I even loved that they put some tips on the menu on how to eat them like a true Georgian and I took their advice and was in dumpling heaven! *Adjaruli - TRULY LOVED the tastiness of the this cheesy, eggy "bread bowl". When Maya brought this to our table she offered to stir it for us by blending the cheese and egg on top! WOOOOWWW!! I need more Georgian food in my life! My husband and I came upon this restaurant during one of our neighborhood walks. We've been on a Middle Eastern kick lately, so the restaurant caught my eye. What sealed that deal, however, was their $45 Restaurant Week menu. I'm new to Restaurant Week, so I had my reservations about the program. I feared the meals would be scaled back in size, that we would walk out still hungry. How wrong I was. We left, bellies bursting at the seams with delicious food. Every single item was a standout. Each bite elicited praise. Our drinks were phenomenal, particularly their fruit juice, which I could only describe as the drink of the gods. It came as a pitcher with a whole sliced peach. It was sweet, light, and refreshing. The peach was so sweet, almost candied. I loved it so much. The vegetables in the qartuli salata were fresh. The vinaigrette had a wonderfully nutty aftertaste. The phkhali trio were herby and fresh, with a very, very slight bitterness, almost undetectable but just there, not dissimilar to sumac. The khachapuri was crispy yet tender, the cheese filling so creamy, so gooey, so salty. I loved this dish most of all. The salmon dish paired wonderfully with the mushrooms, creamy mashed potatoes, and what I can only describe as a balsamic drizzle. My absolute star of the show, the ideali, was a marvel. The condensed milk frosting was so delicate and so were its layers of honey walnut sponge. I melted in my seat with each bite. It was unlike anything I've had before. It has been a while since I last reviewed this UES neighborhood restaurant specializing in Georgian cuisine so I thought I would provide an update. First, we were pleased to see that the restaurant was nearly full early on a Sunday evening. Reservations recommended! Moreover, we were delighted to find out that the food remains both unique and extraordinarily tasty. We started with a salad which frankly looked pretty boring on the menu but turned out to be amazingly Georgian-seasoned! Then a cheese bread (Adjaruli) which was just as we remembered it. Cheesy, creamy and absolutely delicious. We then tried their Khinkali dumplings for the first time and loved them. Once again, wonderful seasoning. Our entree was the Chashushull which came with a tasty warm bread which came in handy to soak up the delicious sauce. Service was attentive and not overbearing. I went here tonight for dinner with some girl friends. It was a really nice time, we ordered a bottle of wine to start. This felt like a neighborhood staple with someone's grandma cooking in the back. It felt intimate and homey, especially once you started to have the food which I give the following review; Khinkali (Dumplings); 9/10 - mushroom were great, wish they had been soupier like the beef but definitely a better flavor, wish we had ordered two each Adjaruli (Cheese bread with egg and butter); 9.8/10 - best dish, the bread was to die for, we tried to show the other dishes love but always came back to this Kubdari (Lamb pie); 7.5/10 - spicy lamb, simple dish, hard to get wrong, taste like grandmas cooking Chakapuli (Mint lamb stew); 6.5/10 - meat was just okay, could have been fresher tasting Chanakhi (Eggplant tomato stew); 5/10 - also bland to me but rest of the table loved so... might just be me For dessert we had the honey walnut cake, not great, pretty dry and not too flavorful. The puff pastry with cream on the other hand was incredible. We stayed late and left perfectly full for a table of 5 girls who came hungry. No, you are not experiencing deja vu. This is another restaurant, of the same name, in another location in New York. I ventured out here after hearing this is the better restaurant of the two Georgian restaurants of the same name. Only this one is open for dinner, so time it accordingly if you want to eat some of the most authentic food of this cuisine. The inside of the restaurant is incredibly inviting with the soft jazz music, the vintage lighting, and the smells that welcome you into somebody's home, to be ready for a meal that you will not be forgetting for quite some time. That is how I felt. For anybody who has been to Tbilisi, I am sure you feel the same way. I have not been, but can only surmise this is how it must feel. From the moment you sit down, you are immediately welcomed and valued, if not loved, as a customer. My server (I think her name was Karine) was an absolute doll from start to finish. She was understanding that I am a novice to the cuisine, and ensured that every dish I got was genuine and going to live up the hype. It is funny, because I ordered just about the same things here as I did at the location in Sheepshead Bay that bears the same name. The Kharcho soup is fabulous. It tastes and feels like a beef vegetable soup, but is heartier and has a better taste. The piece of bread on the side only made it better as the bread is chewy with lots of flavor, a great yeasty flavor. The vessel it is served in keeps the flavors happy, as everything tasted fresh and proper from first bite to last. Of course, as this is a Georgian restaurant, one cannot come and not order Khachapuri. Khachapuri is Georgian cheese bread, infused with an egg and a stick of butter. Since I heard about this famous dish I have wanted to try it, and since I have moved to New York City, I have now tried it three times to varying degrees of success. This restaurant makes it the best of all three times. Karine mixed everything up to make it more appealing, the cheese is perfectly layered, and the bread itself has a nice lightness to it so you do not feel so full afterwards. It really is fantastic how they do it here. There was another party at the restaurant and I knew I had done it right when they had ordered a plate of Khachapuri as well. I do believe any customer who comes here has to order one. It is a must. For my main course I stuck with what I knew best, the Chanakhi. That is what I ordered last time and figured I have to go about it because it is an easy dish to welcome anybody into the cuisine. It comes in a beautiful clay pot and what else? Some Georgian bread. Unlike last time, every flavor comes through beautifully. The starchy potato, the aromatic peppers, the gamey lamb (which has plenty of bark and texture), all served in a hearty stew. This is the perfect dish when it is freezing cold, or that rainy day where you need something to keep you going for several hours. It hit the spot in all the right areas. -- Considering I do not live in the area, it would be hard pressed to come back here again, but I want to thank Karine for making it a terrific meal. She exemplifies everything you want in a server - attractive, attentive, and intelligent. My wife and I shared a bowl of borscht which was tangy and creamy. We further shared a dish of chvishtari, fried cornmeal balls dipped in ricotta cheese. Lastly, we split a dish of chakapuli, which was lamb stewed in tarragon?But the flavor was bounced out nicely from being cooked in white wine as well. It was magnificent dish to top off a great meal. Well, it didn't exactly top it off. I\nHad to try a traditional georgian liqueur called chacha, which is like grappa , only with the grape skins left on. Oda House welcomes you into their finely appointed dining room highlighted by four beautiful crystal chandeliers hanging from their tin ceiling. I arrived on time for my Sunday evening reservation and was immediately seated. I was handed the menu card with the QR code to scan and peruse the menu. Nico introduced himself to me as my server and I asked about the Georgian wines, about which I had heard a few decades ago regarding their traditional methods. He helped me understand the Georgians have been making wine the same way in clay pots of varying sizes for eight thousand years. He had me try two reds of the same year and varietal, but aged in wood barrel versus clay pot. The clay pot clearly imparted greater depth and breadth with unbelievably a touch more tannin. The clay naturally imparts more earthiness, which would call out for red meats, mushrooms, and cheese. Preparations with garlic and herbs, like escargot and frog legs if we're in the French vein of thought, would be right on time with this Georgian wine aged in clay. The lamb stew I would order to go had lots of garlic and would have paired better if I accompanied it at the restaurant with the wine. I liked the clay effect and he had me try another select premium red saperavi aged in clay that exhibited more earthen body and fruit, blackberries and cherries. He also had me try a white varietal aged in clay that is a shape shifter and a challenge to describe adequately here. They cannot get the full range of Georgian wines at this time, but they are worth your time in their own right. I ordered their traditional salad with walnuts, the Adjaruli khachapuri and smoked pork belly. To go, I ordered the chicken stew and the lamb stew with eggplant, as well as the traditional grape jello dessert with walnuts. The Georgians must like walnuts. The salad is great and fresh with a creamy type dressing I cannot describe adequately, but it's good. The smoked pork belly served with its own sauce is actually perfect with the traditional khachapuri. The combo is very fondue like in taste with that melted cheese, which has a slight saltiness that married up well with the slight saltiness of the smoked pork. The combo is best shared between two people, because I was stuffed. The lamb stew with eggplant was good and the spices may take a bit of an adjustment, but the lamb stew was light on the lamb and the accompanying Georgian bread. The chicken stew was far more generous with the meat and was a short reach for my palate in terms of seasonings, with enough Georgian bread on the side. The grape jello dessert with walnuts would seem to be something kids in Georgia grow up with and never outgrow it into adulthood. There is a slight creaminess to its consistency, but it is a type of jello with mass appeal and something that can be prepared with little complication and expense, a major consideration when times can be tough. Nico made all the difference. In an era when service often sucks, Nico was superb in every single respect. Ask for Nico. I surprisingly found the salad, khachapuri and smoked pork belly superior to the two stews I took home in terms of palate delight; though, the stews are quite hearty and would be right on time during the fall and winter. Moreover, do not ignore the wine at Oda House. I highly recommend their clay pot aged wines. Nico and everyone at Oda were most professional, respectful and made me feel welcome to return and I will. Beautiful decor - it truly feels like stepping back in time. This was our first time trying Georgian cuisine, and overall, it was a unique and memorable experience. We ordered the Khinkali, Mtsvadi (with chicken and grilled vegetables), and Chanakhi. We love exploring different types of dumplings from various cultures, and the Khinkali reminded us of Chinese dumplings, but larger, with thicker skin and a more herb-forward seasoning. Each dumpling was juicy and flavorful. However, the tops of the Khinkali were undercooked, leaving a raw flour texture that was a bit off-putting. The Mtsvadi: the chicken was tender and flavorful. The accompanying sauce had an herbal bitterness that reminded us of traditional medicinal flavors. This is my first time trying Georgian food so I don't really know what it is supposed to taste like. Overall it was good but a bit salty and heavy, maybe Georgian food is not to my taste. I ordered the khinkali, it is like a giant soup dumpling. It was ok, I don't think I would try it again, they are quite dough-y compared to Asian style dumplings and also have less flavor. Some other reviews on Yelp noted that it was served with sour cream, they seem to have forgotten our sour cream. I enjoyed the pichini a lot, but wish it had more filling. I also ordered the chicken Mtsvadi. I would not order this again either. It was just grilled chicken thigh. It was not bad but it was such a simple dish, I can make it better myself at home. Apparently it is traditionally supposed to be marinated in some kind of pomegranate sauce but I did not taste any of that. The lamb Chanakhi was more interesting, the meat was a bit tough but overall I liked it because I like tomato and eggplant. It is served with a small piece of crusty bread. It was more of a vegetable dish served with a few pieces of meat, rather than a meat dish served with vegetables. Flavor profile is basically like minestrone soup. Overall the food was not mind-blowing but it was filling and served nice and hot so I can't complain. This restaurant is very cozy , inviting, and charming. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My friend and I shared an array of appetizers, each one melt in your mouth delicious. We had the yogurt soup, the vegetable spreads (all yummy, the green bean one our favourite) , the mushroom dumplings, and the bread with the bean filling. We are not vegetarian, but if you are, you are really in for a treat. Most places will just leave the meat off for you, but this one makes the veggies the star of the show (of those dishes). A true neighborhood gem!!! Went here recently on a double date and we all loved it! My fiancé and I live in the neighborhood and this place has been on our list for years, so we were so happy to finally go here, we wish we hadn't waited so long! We were not super familiar with Georgian food, but the staff was super friendly and helpful and recommended some favorites that were truly delicious. We ended up ordering a lot for the table and shared and loved everything. Their Adjaruli (cheesy bread) is probably one of the most popular things on the menu and it looks like a giant open faced calzone with an egg and it was amazing - a must order! I appreciate a nice dinner out on a Saturday evening with friends just like the next person. Unfortunately, this past Saturday was a disaster! My friends and I had a reservation for a birthday dinner. When we arrived, we were seated in the front of the restaurant. It was extremely hot inside. There were no fans or A/C in this area of the restaurant, windows were opened letting hot air inside and it was quite uncomfortable. The hostess who sat us gave us drink menus and never returned. The restaurant was not crowded at all, yet we waited 18 minutes before I finally had to ask for water. I asked a staff member for it as it seemed our table was being ignored. When I did request the water, the waiter looked as if I had the audacity to ask. A look speaks 1000 words in my book. Staff were walking by and did not acknowledge our presence. We finished our water and wanted to order a cocktail before dinner. Again, after flagging someone down, we ordered cocktails and to my surprise, they delivered ONE cocktail to a party of 4 people. Unbelievable. One of my friends was losing patience with the situation and began complaining. I assume out of embarrassment from my friend's complaints, we were re-seated in the patio area. It was enclosed with air condition and lovely Mediterranean inspired decor. At this time we received our cocktails. A server who became dedicated to our table took over and from that point on our experience changed. We were served all our food, hot and in a timely manner. This was my first time trying Georgian food and I must say I was quite impressed. It was very flavorful and fresh. I believe my whole party enjoyed the food immensely. We had desserts for the table and our server even accommodated us with candles for the birthday boy. She truly saved our experience as best as she could. The restaurant was clean. Lighting was very low and we had to request a candle be placed on our second table to see. You can see how dark the restaurant was from the food pictures. I did not notice any ambient music playing in the background. The bathroom was single occupancy and clean. I wish I could give this place a better rating, however, my party and I NEVER should have received the unwelcoming treatment we experienced. We would have gone elsewhere to dine, however, we bought PULSD vouchers to enjoy our meal and were locked into eating there. We had to make the best of a very awkward situation. My rating is a 1/10. People pay for a full experience which includes a clean space, good food and exceptional service. Since customer service really is the largest portion of an experience and this establishment did not care about their customer service, I would not recommend ever patronizing here. read more

Still very confused about our experience here. I made a reservation the week before for my girlfriend's birthday. When I made the reservation it prompted me to comment if it was a special occasion so I put that it was my girlfriend's birthday. We arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before our reservation time and let the host know. She let us know it would be about 10 minutes or so for the table to be ready, which of course we expected and she told us we could sit at the bar and wait if we wanted, which we did. We sat at the dirty bar which she tried to wipe but did not clean to wait. We were given water and that was it. After about 10 minutes we flagged one of 3 people behind the bar down that failed to acknowledge us to ask for a drink menu. After giving us one, not a single person checked back in to ask us if we wanted to order a drink. After about 15 minutes the host sat us at our table with menus. During the next 10 minutes at our table two different servers cleared the table next to us, brought another table their check, took a dessert order from another table and replenished drinks at the table next to us. Mind you, these tables are about a foot apart from eachother, if that. Not a single person acknowledged us, welcomed us, told us they would be with us, asked if we wanted to order drinks. We waited patiently thinking they were maybe just busy? But staff was hanging out at the bar, walking around, still not even acknowledging us. It was by far the most bizarre experience I have ever had, I felt like we were completely invisible. Finally after 25 minutes with still not a single person talking us, no drinks and just sitting there with the menus closed we decided to leave and go elsewhere. I let someone at the host stand know and she did nothing to even try to get us to stay. Not only am I disappointed because I was so excited to try this food that my grandparents recommended, but now it was 9:30pm on a Saturday night and I had to find another restaurant to bring my girlfriend to for her birthday. The worst part about this all was that we drove TWO hours to the city to come here. A complete let down. read more

First time at Oda House and trying Georgian cuisine. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by very kind staff. The interior is beautiful and warmly lit and felt cozy, perfect for a winter date night. I kept glancing around because there was beautiful art on the walls and the chandeliers were so pretty. The service, while the staff were very nice, we found that they rarely came around to check on us. Once they did come over they were very knowledgeable on wine recommendations and dishes. I normally am generous with my ratings but the downfall of the night for me was waiting over 50 minutes for even one of my dishes to come out. I ordered a cheese appetizer and it still took 50 minutes. I definitely want to still try Oda House again in case the waiter just forgot to send our order in, but to wait almost an hour for salmon is pretty insane. The food itself was pretty good in my opinion. The salmon wasn't dry at all and paired very nicely with the mushrooms and balsamic. My favorite was the Khinkali, which is like a dumpling. We got it with lamb and it was so juicy. I didn't like the smoked scunguli cheese appetizer, it was way too salty for me even with walnuts and wine to wash it down. wow! heard about this place from a native Georgian friend who claimed it was the best Georgian restaurant. nestled between Turkey and Russia, this cuisine surprised, intrigued and delighted me! shared five dishes between three friends, all vegetarian. the wholesome salad was a hit! fresh cucumbers and tomatoes in a yummy pesto sauce with an interesting cheese thing. the khinkali dumplings were my favorite, similar to chinese xiaolongbao but massive and served with sour cream like pierogis imeruli was as expected - bread and cheese. yum. lobio was yummy, tasted like indian cuisine and enjoyed the hard crunch of the corn bread. was not a fan of the pickled onions and pickles. too sour for my taste. finally the eggplant based chanakhi was a nice blend of vegetables but tasted like pretty standard mediterranean(?) food I've had before. service was super friendly and attentive and the place was so cute! i especially adored the cute floral plates. will definitely return to try the meat dishes! read more

An amazing local restaurant that serves authentic Georgian dishes. From manager to servers; everyone was very accommodating, friendly, and attentive. Despite being a party of 14, the service was smooth with food coming out at the right interval and server/manager constantly checking up on us to make sure we got everything we needed. Ambiance-wise, the table set-up, lighting, etc was perfect. The restaurant ended up giving us complimentary tea at the end of our meal which is greatly appreciated. I had only once in my life tried one dish (the cheese bread); and tonight's dinner experience really opened my taste buds to new combinations of ingredients and new flavors What we tried and highly recommend: Khinkali Oversized hand-rolled dumplings filled with seasoned organic beef, pork, and herbs- plump and juicy Adjaruli Homemade sulguni & Imeruli cheeses baked in yeast dough, served with poached organic egg and butter mixed in Mtsvadi Skewer grilled Georgian shish-kebab made from organic pork, served with grilled vegetables Chakapuli Organic grass-fed lamb slow cooked with tarragon, mint, scallions, parsley, cilantro & white wine, served with Georgian bread. We went to this restaurant for my son's birthday and it was the first time we've ever had Georgian food. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible unfortunately. However, there are only a few steps up to get into the restaurant, and the inside is very large. My son's on crutches, but he was able to get in pretty easily. Our hostess and waitress were both very kind and accommodating. The atmosphere inside is very pretty, I love it. The lighting is rather dim, but it does feel like fine dining. The prices on the menu were fair, especially for the portions and location. The food was great, we asked for recommendations and we each loved our dishes. My husband and I asked for a good dish to share between two people, and we certainly got it. The bread was excellent, so we asked for extra, and my cocktail was very tasty. Loved the ambiance of this place. Service was okay, but the food came out quite fast. Food was pretty good. Will definitely come back to try out the other dishes. Ambiance: Warm and toasty, which was much appreciated on a frigid 30 degree night. Candles everywhere, and dim intimate lighting. Small chandeliers, embroidered pillows, and artwork on the walls made the place feel elevated but cozy. I wish I could have seen the back room - I know it's been mentioned in other reviews. Service: We came in on a Sunday about an hour before close so I thought they would be quick to take our order, but that was not the case. I kept trying to catch someone's eye to find out who our server was, but anytime I did I just got a "hello" before they kept walking. When our server finally came by we knew everything we wanted - drinks, apps, and mains. But when we told him our order, he didn't write any of it down. Turns out he not only forgot to put in our drink order, but also didn't remember what drinks we ordered. We didn't find out about this until I inquired about the whereabouts of our drinks. He wasn't very present during our meal either. We had a wonderful interaction with Gigi though, who appeared to be both a server and the bartender. Gigi ended up making my partner a custom drink because he couldn't make her the Pisco Sour. She loved the cocktail. He was very sweet by comparison to our server. Food: We got the adjaruli and khinkali with lamb to start. We also got the shkmeruli and chef's salad to split. I felt misled by the menu descriptions. The salad was supposed to come with onions, but I could not find any. And the Adjaruli is described as having a "poached" egg, but instead came with a raw egg on top. I wish their description had been accurate, or had explained how the dish should be eaten. To their credit, the menu picture was accurate, but I unfortunately only saw the description. Since our server was pretty AWOL I couldn't really ask if the idea was to mix the egg with the cheese and hope the hot cheese cooks the egg to some degree, or if you're supposed to embrace the raw egg. For those of you that are unfamiliar like I was - that is the idea! Stir it in right away! The salad was good, but also nothing fancy. I can't see how this is worth $22. I don't think I'd recommend this. The lamb in the khinkali was delicious, but I thought the dumplings could stand to have more filling. Would definitely recommend the shkmeruli if you have a fresh side to it. It's savory and delicious, but the sauce feels buttery and rich. The Georgian bread has a good crust to it with a chewy inside. Will definitely be coming back to try the other dishes! read more

The food here is tasty and has mild aromas. Definitely try a khachapuri (cheesey bread dish with an egg in the center) and the Khinkali (dumplings) which are staples in Georgian cuisine. The main dishes we tried were also good. We tried the Lobio (pinto beans plus corn bread) and Mitzvadi (meat skewers). We tried the Georgian house wine (amber colored) and it tasted like a watered down red wine so I do not recommend that, but otherwise, the food was great. The space is large and well decorated. It is hard to appreciate with the low lighting but my friends and I enjoyed our visit there. All the staff were kind and attentive. read more

I preferred the appetizers here over the main course items. I came with a larger group, so we shared multiple appetizers between us. We got the chicken khinkali, oda special zulien khinkali, adjaruli, and appetizer plate sampler. The khinkali was interesting and the adjaruli was a cool experience. The sampler was a good amount to share among us and I enjoyed the assorted salads that were in the sampler. For the main course, I chose the lamb lula kebab seeing that it was a pretty popular choice online. The mashed potatoes on the side was really good and buttery, but I found the kebab to be overwhelmingly salty and I couldn't finish the meat in the end. My friend, who ordered the same dish, also agreed that the dish was quite salty. It's a shame, but next time I would want to try the chanakhi or another dish on the dinner menu. read more

I really wanted to try this restaurant as soon as I saw it. Georgian food... What do you know about Georgia? I don't know anything about Georgia. Which is why I wanted to eat here! I can now safely say anyone that enjoys proteins, vegetables and sauces will enjoy Georgian food. Very generic, right? That's because Oda house makes familiar food (chicken, salmon, dumplings) but in a "different" (Georgian) style. And they do it very, very well. To get a bit more specific, I tried three entrées and one appetizer: Chakhokhbili (chicken in veggie sauce) Shkmeruli (Cornish hen in thyme garlic sauce) Oda House Special- Salmon (salmon stuffed with mashed potatoes) Khinkali Julien Zhulien (mushroom cheese dumplings) As you can see these are familiar foods, albeit with crazy names. Each dish was expertly cooked with tender, juicy meat, good oil and salt levels, and incredible complex herb and spice flavors. So don't get overwhelmed and overthink the menu! Get any entrée and be amazed. Oh and don't forget to order an extra side of their amazing (and inexpensive) bread to soak up all the juices! read more

I have not been to Georgia, but I have visited several countries in that region, and I felt like Oda House just transported me to that part of the world. The space is very traditional, nicely decorated, big but yet cozy and warm. Felt like you're transported into a different country in the most heartwarming way. Oda House was buzzing on Friday, both small intimate tables and large groups. The service was top notch hence my high rating. We were warmly greeted by Maka, who took us to our table. The server noticed the table was wobbly and without hesitation came with a colleague to fix it. They offered great suggestions for food and drinks - all on point. The food was simply delicious. All dishes were perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection and presented with every attention to detail. Had the Fresh & Wholesome salad, which was hearty and perfectly dressed with an amazing dressing contrasted with the best textures possible. That was followed by the Adjaruli, which is a must have. Perfectly baked bread with a center filled with ricotta cheese and the fresh yolk of an egg. Yummy! The lamb kebab with grilled vegetables were succulent and perfectly seasoned and great. Another must try. Salmon was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The Ideali (honey cake) was creamy, moist and had a perfect crust topped with walnuts. Fresh and warm bread house a pool of stretchy chewy bouncy cheese mixed with egg (our waiter mixed it for us to demonstrate) until it is one consistency. Great for date night! Really nice space, with a dark ambiance. They have a mint water option, which was really refreshing on a hot night. The staff was friendly and made good suggestions. We had: - Small Adjaruli - delicious cheesy egg and bread appetizer - Beef Dumplings - good but a bit too doughy for me. - Georgian Salad with Walnuts - this had to be one of the best salads we ever had. Fresh tomatoes and cucumbers with an amazing dressing. I want one now!! - Lamb Clay Pot - a lamb stew - the hubby loved but a bit too gamey for me.
