My daughter and I came to Corvallis (from Texas) for a college visit. I was not expecting to find such a diverse food scene here. This place was really top notch. Fantastic friendly service, very casual cool atmosphere, amazing food. Both of us were thrilled with what we ordered--she had the chicken with hoe cakes (not misspelled, actual name) and I had the Heart Stopper. Both were really good. Our server talked to us about what she likes about Corvallis (I asked) and gave us some recommendations for local things to do. Highly recommend this place. The Hostess seated us and we were given menus. After about 20 min no one came by or offered water. So I decided to stand up and approach the bar and ask if anyone was going to come to our table for our order. the waitress gave me an unwelcoming look. And looked over at the other waitress. TL;DR: the food is served cold, management is rude. The ambiance in the restaurant is nice. It's not too loud, and it's a comfortable place to sit. The menu options are good and the food tastes pretty good. Our waitress was absolutely lovely - attentive, kind, and gave excellent banter (not over the top, but not unwelcoming). A few things were unsatisfactory today, though, prompting me to edit my previous review. 1) Both times I've eaten here, the food has been lukewarm when it comes to the table - by the time you're half way done with the plate, the food is cold. I was hoping it was an accident during my first visit, but since it's happened a second time, I fear that it is a decision actively made by the kitchen. 2) Our waitress was assisted by two other people to bring food to our table. One of these people was clearly working at the restaurant in a supervisory capacity. When she brought the food, she announced the dish she was carrying in a way that was rude and abrasive (she had to repeat herself because the first time she announced it someone else was also delivering food to our table and we were all focused on that person - she seemed extremely annoyed that she had to repeat herself). She then shoved my plate into my hands - I almost felt like I had to catch it. A small business is only as good as its leadership, and leadership seems to be more concerned about moving quickly than the customer experience. 3) Today, our food took a really long time to come out of the kitchen. I wouldn't be concerned about this if the food had come out hot, but for food to take that long to be served warm is strange. read more

What a cute little restaurant! Been wanting to try this place out ever since seeing it as I walk by during farmers markets. Figured I'd go with my parents when they visited. After hearing good things about this cafe on social media, we decided to give it a try today. We had a friend visiting from out of town so we made the drive down. We had a small snafu when the hostess somehow lost our name on the waitlist but that was quickly forgotten once we were seated. Service was good, attentive without being obtrusive. We started by trying one of their house-made pop-tarts. They have a different flavor each day, and today's was strawberry filling with chocolate icing. I will never eat a boxed pop tart again. These have ruined me. So flaky, buttery and the filling had just the right amount of sweetness. Our table ordered the burger and chicken sandwich. Between the three of us we had the home fries and the shoestring fries. You can't go wrong with any of it. Home fries are delightfully crispy and perfectly seasoned. The shoestring fries have a hint of rosemary- i could not stop eating them. The burger was juicy, flavorful and well paired with the garlic aioli. That chicken sandwich is food of the gods. Juicy, perfectly breaded, with a homemade hot sauce that has good flavor and is just right on spice. I've been in a few times now, once for breakfast and another time for lunch. The space feels bright and welcoming with simple decor. I was told to try the rotating pop tart by a friend and unfortunately I was a bit underwhelmed when my pop tart came out soggy. When I think pop tart I think crispy like it's been freshly toasted but this was not the case, I didn't even finish it. The presentation of the pop tart really wanted me to love it. I will say their house made sausage is really good, that I did enjoy. The second time I met a work associate here and I ordered the salmon hash, I ate it all and would order it again. The waiter was friendly and the food came out quickly. There is ample street parking but if the farmers market is going on you might have trouble finding parking. Went there for breakfast. Food was very standard and came in a normal, leaning on the small size, portion. Nothing special. This rating is more for the service, cleanliness, and atmosphere. Restaurant, even to this day in Feb 2024, is incomplete, like someone half moved in and didn't bother finishing. Was not busy and there were tables open but we were asked to wait 2 exact minutes before they could seat us. I asked why and she just said "it'll just be two minutes". She went and walked around and then went back to the kitchen and just kind of stood there. She forgot about us until another set of guests walked in the door. Then she realized she forgot about us... Disappointing Location - our group had wanted to try this new restaurant on the lovely Corvallis Waterfront park (former Big River location) since it opened. It's open Thursday through Sunday: On Thursday morning around 1030am for breakfast there was plenty of parking and seating. Ambiance - The restaurant was mostly empty (one other party inside, two outside, and a few at the bar. It's open with nice light, pleasant background music, nearly complete decor, comfortable seating and great patio area. Service - Service was confusing, slow and poor - 4 servers but not really sure which was ours. We were seated promptly by one person, a bit later another asked if we wanted drinks by a second - 10 plus minutes later we received one beer but were never offered coffee or any other non-alcoholic drink. Ten more minutes and our order was taken by server #2. Food finally arrived and served by servers #3 and #4. Still no offer of drinks so we flagged down server #2 who took the order and never attended us again. Coffee was eventually brought by server #3 who remained our server until we left. No one introduced themselves or identified themselves as our server. Food - the menu had very few choices given it covered breakfast and lunch - the food ranged from poor to mediocre. Our order for four people included: Breakfast Sano with bacon - good rated 4 of 5 but very small Breakfast Sano with sausage - poor rated 2 of 5 - in-house sausage Patty was very poor - dry and completely tasteless Standard breakfast - poor rated 1 of 5 - sausage again lacked tasteless, egg cooked over easy with runny yolk when ordered over medium, toast was cold, dry with no butter and we were charged extra for marmalade (ridiculous!) Salmon Hash - good flavor rated 4 of 5 Side of sourdough toast - rated 1 of 5, cold, served dry without butter - finally got server attention to ask for butter which was served cold and rock hard. We were told this was a kitchen error but no effort was made to correct the problem. Overall - disappointing experience - very unlikely we'll be back read more

Not sure what challenges the restaurant and staff were facing the day of our visit, but what a frustrating experience. Everything just seemed to be at a snails pace with no urgency whatsoever. Long wait for a table (expected on a busy weekend morning) , long wait for service, food and utensils. Mistakes with our order and many menu choices unavailable. Food was mediocre, some dishes not cooked properly. The staff seemed stale and lethargic and lack of communication definitely contributed to the long wait times for food and drinks. Saw other tables near us that were having the same experiences. It was Odd indeed.
