I recently tried Odd Fox for my morning coffee and came by to grab an oat latte. The space is larger than I expected with plenty of small tables inside and a nice patio in the back. It's a great space to get some work done or catch up with a friend. The latte was solid and I love how cute the merch is. Had to snag a quick latte from odd fox. On a pretty quiet street the bright exterior and funky name intrigued me. The interior was nice. The perfect place to study! This cafe became part of our rotation. Lattes are superb, fast service and presentable cafe space, lots of workers. The only thing we would recommend is providing some cinnamon at the sugar station. Came here for tea a few times, and once to study. There's a lot of seating lining the wall where the ordering counter is and a small room in the back with some tables and outlets. There's also a bathroom. Great place for the neigborhood to be able to post up and get some work done. Really like the vibe of this place. Service was nice. The tea was pretty good, too, although not something that you can mess up (it's all tea bags). Will come back for their coffee, of course, but until then take this good review to represent the functionality they serve for the neighborhood. They also have some pastries and a pretty extensive tea menu as well as a non-caffeinated menu so it really is solving all your cafe needs, which is hard to find nowadays. read more

I'm a regular customer and had a yoga class next door that was due to start in ten mins so I came into odd Fox to stay warm as it was freezing outside. Sat in a corner minding my own business not having ordered anything because coffee and/ or a pastry before a yoga class isn't the best idea. After about 5 mins a man came over to me and asked if I was waiting for a drink. I kindly told him my situation and that I'd head out in 5 mins but he said "I'm going to have to ask you to leave because this establishment is for customers only." And I said "even for five mins to keep from the cold?" And he said "it's my job to ask you to leave." So I left, totally disheartened. I completely respect that rule but I believe they should make exceptions for respectful locals in situation such as this. Wont be coming back as customer service is a big reason I frequent places and I just can't support an establishment who treats people this way. read more

Very happy with this Brooklyn coffee shop. Coffee is great, there are a lot of seats-including a courtyard-and outlets at al or them (though I didn't check for outside outlets). WiFi works great and is free, though they do ask you to buy something every couple of hours, which is reasonable. Couldn't ask for anything more out of a place to work. read more

Warning - this place was NOT POC friendly. I came here last week with two queer Latino elders who've been in this neighborhood for a long time. After we ordered at the counter and paid around $30, we realized that there weren't any tables available with seating for 3 people. The cafe was not busy at all and the back of the cafe was closed down, so i decided to grab a chair from an empty table. After silently watching me bring this chair across the room and sit down, the barista came around the bar to tell me that I can't do that and stood over me as I profusely apologized and put the chair back. We decided to move to a pair of stools at a counter tucked away near the front while I stood. We settled in with our lattes and got comfortable catching up and talking. About half an hour later, the barista came back around and stood over me again-this time to tell us that he'd cleared the back patio for us to move to. We thanked him, expecting him to walk away, but he stayed standing and staring until we got up and moved outside. It was raining outside, and after a few brief minutes we decided to just leave the space altogether. It makes me sad to see a business in my neighborhood that claims to be Queer friendly but won't have respect or show any basic human decency toward non-white Queer people. Coffee shops were meant to be third spaces for people to connect. I'd rather grab coffee from one of the many other local spots who have been proudly serving a variety of customers for decades. read more

Odd fox coffee was a cute little coffee shop I got to kill sometime in, located in Brooklyn you walk in, order at the counter and grab a seat. Lots of coffee options, and organic soda. I decided to get an iced coffee since it was so damn hot! I loved my drink, the flavor was bold and not burnt. I always have to cut my coffee with cream because I like having a smoother flavor. What is noteworthy about this location is the actual space, it's typical because it's a coffee shop, but what is posted on this walls is that it's a shared location and to not set your bags on the chair across from you, but to foster the true shared work space and that a stranger may sit by you. They also have several empty frames hanging out on the walls, with random pictures every few frames. All around a cool place! read more

I stopped by Odd Fox on my walk in the neighborhood and bought a coffee. I sat down in the seating area for 15 minutes after a workout class. I thought the space was creative and liked the coffee. I decided to come back again an hour later to do some creative writing. I asked the Barista a question about seating since I was there not too long prior. I was yelled at with such vitriol & pretentiousness by the barista. I was confused by how my question could prompt such an overblown reaction--I understand that coffee shops are a business, however, I believe that there should be a decorum that is used when speaking with customers--especially if they are new to the neighborhood. "Robert" (if that is his real name) proceed to berate me for asking a question about seating. I will not be returning to Odd Fox & there other coffee shops in the area that have better customer service and treat their patrons with kindness. I'd suggest going to SweetLeaf, Bakeri, or Eleva. I've never been spoken to that offensively at a coffee shop. Honestly in a world that can use a bit more kindness I'm very upset with that interaction today. Maybe Robert was having a bad day. Regardless, how we treat other people is a deeper reflection of ourselves. If you want to go to a coffee shop that treats its customers well go to another coffee shop in the area. Edit: Robert stopped by another coffee shop I was doing work in & slammed a note on my desk and walked out. I spoke to the owner about this situation / behavior and my personal concerns around invasion of physical space. It's one thing to use unkind language but it's far more egregious to overstep and invade a stranger's personal space. Went to the Bed Stuy location. Two Ethiopian blends were done unjust because they were a watery brew. Thankfully, we can taste that the beauty of the coffee is good. Spacious, with many tables inside and out in the backyard, perfect for working, I'd imagine, or just getting out of the cold for a bit, like I am. Friendly service, decent coffee. I'm sitting in the back right now as I write this, and I love the decor and feel of the place. They're playing pop music (sounds like Carly Rae Jepsen perhaps?), but the less annoying kind (in comparison to mainstream radio), in my opinion anyway. High end quality, so coffee buffs with discerning taste will surely be impressed. You start outside. You always start outside. Start out across the street, on the west side of Manhattan ave, a street that courses through Greenpoint. Its cerulean store sign might catch your eye, but its name 'odd fox' might not, it's printed in such a faded, almost careless black. Still, the quaint result might be enough to intrigue you. The street is also probably empty enough to jay walk across, so you might, which you might do, the dream is unbroken. The café has a railroad layout. The larger front room is divided like a paper folded hotdog style. There is the barista's bar on the left, and two-seater tables clinging to the right. The bar side is roomier than the table side, emphasizing whose domain this is. The walls are the shade of parchment paper and scattered with frames, gold and dark brown. A few of them hold illustrated portraits of posh foxes in renaissance clothing, but most embrace bare wall. Golden semi-opaque lamps hang over the bar. No which one is alike, but the shapes seem like friends and emit a similar warm light. It's comfortingly dim inside, not so bright where everything becomes ugly but an improvement from the light in, say, a typical NY apartment, which may be why so many of its patrons are working on their laptops here instead of at home. Whenever a bus passes by on the street, it fills the entire storefront window and the café briefly darkens. The front room ends at a wall full of holes, the holes being a door frame and two punched-out windows. Beyond this wall is a smaller back room. Though compact, this second room doesn't feel cramped, perhaps because of the holes and the light coming in from the patio door in the back. You could go out the patio door, but then you'd be back outside. And it's hot out there. The sun smiles but is unkind. You might take a peek, though. You've always wanted a backyard. There are large tables and benches sitting lazily under enormous tree branches. Ok, it's time to go back inside. You sit at the counter by the bar, sip a drip coffee, which has a comforting fruity taste. The croissant is bready and definitely not the best croissant, but it is large and satisfying. read more

I went there on 1/31 which was a cold day (below freezing). I got a matcha latte which was really hot that I burned my tongue. It was hot for awhile. I couldn't taste the matcha and it felt like warmed milk. I opened the cup and was disgusted by the unnatural green color. There were huge chunks at the bottom. I am not even sure if they used real matcha. The small cup was really small. I also had a coffee which was bland. I would not recommend. It was worse than getting drip coffee at a deli :/ read more

Their coffee game is on-point. This place is my go-to for a morning cup and a treat. I recommend the gluten-free pistachio bread, which comes from the neighborhood bakery Ovenly. I HAD to update my review. Was there earlier this week & was upset by their bathroom. It wasn't terribly dirty but it also wasn't very clean. It is in desperate need of a remodel & it may possibly have termites. I know that this is a rented space but they have to hold the landlord accountable for this as they will continue to lose customers! Also, as many times that I've been here, I've never ever seen anyone (baristas) wash their hands. :-/ it's a no-go for me. I'm not into the grungy coffee shop vibe. It's perfect low key ambiance and gentle music makes for a great place to concentrate and you are always bound to meet an incredibly nice person from the neighborhood! Making this locale a part of my Sunday routine. Yeh Im definitely a fan of their coffee here and pastries. Came here 4 times in 2 weeks and each time I have been utterly impressed by the quality of their coffee. The Latte here is a different quality and their coffee is velvety smooth. The pastries are good too. Had the croissants wirh butter and garlic and blue berry muffins.
