Drinks at the front, questionably curtained off rooms down the hallway. Roofie them at the bar, then take 'em out back! Being a petite Asian female, I was starting to question my friend's intent. Am I getting drunk here or trafficked? But what what?! Behind those black curtains are booths with Ouiji boards tacked onto the table. Twisted music videos playing on the TVs throws your mind into a psychedelic euphoria. It's like acid-tripping without the acid. Yeah, that's right, Don't do drugs kids! Craft cocktails are stiff enough here where that's all you'll ever need. But wait! There's more!!! If you stay late enough, that bookshelf in the back corner opens up to a secret room. It's a HUGE 'nother area where there's a dance floor and another bar. Talk about awesome PDTs! I'm a total sucker for PDT spots! This bar is definitely distinct with its own personality. The Please-Don't-Tell aspect of it just adds another extra oomph in my books.. or uh.. their books. Don't let the window view fool you. Inside is amazing. Also, Diego is cool! In Vegas, you don't have to go far to find the bizarre, the strange, the garish, or grotesque, but it can be a challenge to find authentic kindness. We were only in town for a couple days, and my wife and I wanted to find a club that catered to LGBT couples or at least were welcoming. If we found some that played 80's alternative music, then that was a plus. We took an Uber from our hotel, and toured the Freemont strip, which is in itself a wonderful find, and a perennial favorite of my best friend. While Oddfellows isn't specifically a gay bar, they are definitely gay and lesbian (and any other flavor of sexuality and gender identity) friendly. In fact, on certain nights, they donate a portion of their proceeds to the local LGBT causes, which won us over immediately. They do boast plenty of 80's themed punk and Goth, techno, etc. but the night we went, we were treated to Techno Cumbia from L.A. This seemed to blend perfectly with the Oddfellows theme of Ouija boards, Loteria, El Diablo poster, and an almost Andy Warhol type of eclectic art. The beloved theme of "Oddfellows" borrows from an eclectic gathering of trades and classes who came together under a fraternal organization that was free from political affiliation or religion for the purpose of charity and benevolence in the 17th and 18th centuries. (considered "Odd" in and of itself during 18th century England). The addition of tarot, ouija boards as decor in the club, seems to fit perfectly with a message of perusing the veil between the spirit world without a neat definition of religion. While this was all visually stimulating, the real catch was just how kind and genuine the staff was, how unassuming the bar patrons, and comfortable the vibe on the dance floor. This was a place for locals, tourists, and strangers to mingle and dance regardless of class or age or sexuality. The screens showed plenty of Mexican style wrestling superstars, Selena and "Latin Alternative Tropical Rock pop". Drinks were very reasonably priced, a decent pour, and kept the pace without a long wait, or being skipped . We hope to return during an 80's punk night on our next vacation. Just heard about this bar. Went there tonight for the first time and it was a great time! It looks small when you first walk in, to the right there's a small bar. Then you go down a hallway with some booths, and some of the tables had ouija boards, haha. At first you think, "This is it?" Then when you go left after the hallway there's a door that leads you to a room with dancing and a bar. The music they played was awesome...my friends I danced to The Killers, Passion Pit, and The White Stripes. They also played music videos on a projector. I've been watching posts about this bar on another social media platform and learned about karaoke on Tuesday nights. For the longest time I've been wanting to go but it's on a Tuesday and most of my co-workers and friends don't play on a work night. I received a text from another co-worker who loves to sing and wanted to go out, and I went. What a cool little joint! There was a total of three of us who decided to meet up and do some singing. We entered in and had a few cocktails to gain some liquid courage. Our bartender was Elena and she was amazing! Very engaging and funny, gracious smile and just had everyone in conversation. Karaoke started late, but I don't think anyone cared. The decor was a little interesting. In the bar setting alone, there were pictures of what appeared to be Jesus and perhaps some saints, mother Mary etc. It seemed like it was reminiscent of a medieval or church-like decor. Then when you would leave the bar through an archway, you enter a hallway with price sitting booths where, on the tables had two ouiji boards. It may be off putting to some but it didn't bother me much but just fuel my fascination at this point. Past the hallway, there's an entrance into a nice surprising open stage area where the karaoke was to be held. Overall, my friends and I enjoyed singing! Most importantly. From start to finish of being here, I loved the people that we encountered. It was like taking every extreme novel type of people and putting them into a setting where, all anyone wanted to do was sing and share their vocal talent. Good dance floor and music, kind of a small venue but they had tables outside the main dancing area where you could still hear the music but didn't have to yell at the person across the table from you to be heard. We went here on our Wedding weekend in Vegas and it was really convenient since we were staying at the El Cortez (literally right out of the doors of Subway). I also did my research before going here and I love 80's music and Indie/New-Wave so it was a no brainier. We arrived late on Friday night, around 12amish and my hubby had to pay $5 but the ladies got in for free. We walked down the long baphamet painting and made a quick right and left and there was the dance floor, packed. We made our way to the bar and my hubby ordered our rounds, 4 beers and two shots of tequila. They ran us around $30 give or take, which is not bad since its Vegas. We found a little table on the top floor once some people left and held it down for a while; which was perfect, since my old coworkers were there with us and we needed time to catch up. I would say around 3am, I thought the place would be shutting down, but nope, it was going strong and then our other group of friends showed up and we basically shut the place down around 530 or 6am. NO JOKE, we shut the place down. We normally stay at the El Cortez too, so next time we head out to Vegas, we will definitely stop here and have a drink or four, LOL! read more

As a Las Vegas native, I'm surprised this is my first time at this bar! I love how different it is from most bars I've been too. It looks small from the street but it winds around to the back and upstairs! I love all the available seating and dance floor in the back. There's lots of space to move around and the small room upstairs provides a great view of the floor. The room maybe fits 7 people comfortably. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is fun. Favorite bar/(kinda dance club) to come to in Vegas. The bartenders and staff are always very friendly. The service has always been great to me. I have literally nothing bad to say about this place. They are very reasonably priced on drinks compared to everywhere else near Fremont. My absolute favorite place to dance and forget about my worries for a few hours. The backroom is awesome, the dj is usually great. The th will take requests, assuming of course it is with the theme of the night. They always have themed nights so you know what to expect beforehand. Thursday's is gaydays at the Ogden, oddfellows included. I'm straight but it's still a great time to come on Thursdays considering I have plenty of gay friends and family that I can hangout with here. Great place. My favorite odd bar in Vegas. 80's night Friday is terrific. 7 dollar Tito's soda. What's not to like?

This is probably the cutest little hidden area. The sign on the side of the street isn't very well lit or visible from all angles of the street so I had no idea what type of place this was. When you first walk in, there's a bar and chairs. Then tables. Then you walk down a corridor which seems kind of weird but it finally takes you to this wide open area where there's music video playing on the wall and on the tv's, there's a bar to your right when you walk in, and there's also upstairs areas which have bathrooms (much needed) and cute little "balconies" where you can look down and still watch the music videos for the music they're playing. They have different themed nights and I went on 90's night which was, of course, lit af. The prices on the drinks are really, really good seeing as I only paid $10 for two drinks. The drinks were made really well and there was only one bartender at the time but she made sure to be as quick as possible and keep everyone who wanted drinks happy. I would definitely come back here to bring friends, drink, and dance. It's a very cool location. read more

My girlfriend and I, a couple of (ahem) 40-somethings, came to town and had our eyes set on 80s night. We didn't pay attention to the start time and arrived around 9 to be told the party starts after 10 so we killed some time gambling and drinking. Came back around 11 and the place was crowded but not so much we couldn't easily hit the dance floor and have a blast! Great tunes, quick drink service and a mellow but happy crowd. We had a great night dancing like we were 20 again. Unfortunately, we don't recover like we're 20 but that's another story. Highly recommended for those looking for their 80's nostalgia. Sooo after reading about this place I had to go. Now I'm almost 60 so I was a bit apprehensive about going to a "Hipster" bar. But heck I wanted to Karaoke so I headed out from my hotel on Fremont St. and walked to the bar. To my surprise it was very small in the front and then I saw the hallway to the "Secret" door. It opens to a nice intimate bar that just feels good. The karaoke KJ was great and it has a nice music system. The rotation for singers goes fast and drinks was reasonable (I had a Jack and coke and it was $6.00) I did 3 songs and even though I was the "Oldest" in the place everyone was very friendly. Heck I even met new friends. If your in the downtown area and want a nice place to get away from the crazy of Fremont St. and want to sing some karaoke go. You will not be disappointed. Carved inside the Ogden and steeped in the smell of incense, Oddfellows is a fun and cheap place to party. Fridays are 80's nights but judging by the playlist, that involves a lot of ABBA and early 90s dance music. If you've been there enough, you can predict which song will come on next. Saturday's are indie nights, so the music is a crap shoot. One week the place is packed and other nights will be dead. Drinks are cheap, strong enough and get the job done. So I was invited here by a friend for their 2nd year anniversary party and honestly I can say with certainty that I will definitely be coming back. Oddfellows is one of those unassuming places that you could easily walk by without noticing but once you go in you are blown away by just how cool it is. This place reminds me more of a bar you'd find in Star Wars or in Guardians of the Galaxy on some weird planet. There are two bars, one in the front and one in the back which is hidden by (not even kidding) a secret door in the shape of a bookcase. The secret door hides not only the second bar but a full on dance floor and upstairs balcony lounge. The music was absolutely amazing with the DJ dropping hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s with some techno thrown in for good measure. Let me tell you my inner Star-Lord couldn't help but start moving and grooving with all those hits coming on!!! The bartenders are extremely nice and pour some pretty strong drinks as well, drink prices are a lot cheaper than anywhere on the strip or even in some other places downtown. The place doesn't really start to pick up until around 11pm though and was pretty dead from opening until 11. Around 11 is when a lot of the crowd and people start coming in so if you're a guy like me who likes to grab a girl and dance on the dance floor you might wanna come in a little later. There are multiple screens throughout the place showcasing old movies and music videos and there are plenty and I mean plenty of places to sit. Front door security let my friend in for free and charged me $10 to get in because he didn't like me. It's sad to see small businesses hire men with big egos to ruin the whole vibe. I've been going to Oddfellows 90s night for the last 2 years and I'm sad to say it's come to an end because of my last experience. Masculine men often forget they work in these jobs to provide a service and make it about themselves and how much they like you and how much you kiss up to them. For a bar that uses "Thursgays" as a marketing scheme they sure do a lot to make queer people feel unwelcome because they don't give the right handshake or know the right people. You should be welcome at a bar because you are a client, not because the guy at the front door is your friend. Sad to say I won't be going back to the only place in Las Vegas that plays bands like The Internet and Azealia Banks, simply because sensitive men ruin it for themselves. As a message to the team: let's make sure we're giving a good vibe rather than making it feel like a big ego trip nightclub environment. You're not on The Strip, it's okay to make people feel welcome. Let us give you our money, I promise you'll be happy. I've only ever been here twice but I've liked it both times, even though I've never stayed for more than 30 minutes. The drinks are strong, the music selection is really good, and the people are a bit different than those you would find at a normal downtown hot spot, which is a good thing. It is very small and can definitely get musty and crowded which sucks but then again, most places downtown get ridiculously overcrowded, at least you can move in this one. Even though it is just a block or two away from all of the other main spots, it feels safer as well. Idk if it's because it's in the Ogden or it is more open on that block, I just feel safer which is always a plus when most of the area is super sketchy. All being said, I wouldn't go here if I wasn't already downtown but then again, I'm not a fan of the entire area. read more

Love this place! Came on a Wednesday which meant 90s night' yes when you walk in there is a small bar and a projector and you think this is it ? No! Keep walking past the tvs and Ouija boards that are bolted in on the tables and you'll turn the corner into a large back room with a separate bar there are two booths in each corner. If you want to use the bathroom you have to go upstairs which is also a whole other world,just outside the bathroom they have a phone booth great for photo ops and a room by the dj we didn't go in there but it looked comfy' I would love to see what it's like when it's packed here! read more

She spent her time helping me find the right cocktail for me along with a great attitude and recommendation. This reopened venue located on the ground floor of The Ogden used to be the Skullery. I came here with a friend to see the #downtownpodcast recorded live. I prefer the Inspire theater location for this event because of the size and much more available seating. The space was very small for filming and was not setup to handle a decent audience. The bar itself is also tiny and cavernous and not setup up for social collisions. The tiny private booths walled off give the impression that please don't interrupt my conversation. Staff also seemed unfriendly or unwelcoming to the people that essentially pay their wages....the customers. Where do they find these social introverts that can only connect with people on via text, FB, Snapchat, or twitter. I might be back but I am sure this place will be rebranded by that time, especially if they continue to flounder there guest service. Hire professionals not your friends. read more
