This was our first time here, saw it had great reviews so why not come by and try something new. We were seated immediately despite it being so packed on a Monday night without reservations. The place is cozy, homey, and welcoming when you walk in. The concept of it being inside a home is very interesting. The food here is amazing especially their Caesar Salad. That salad was so delicious we wanted to order some to go. Now the reason why this place is getting three stars because 1. The service here is horrible! 15-25 minute wait for our server to come back around and check in on us. It wasn't just us either but it was everyone else in the room. Saw a couple that waited about 25 minutes just to be checked up on after being seated. We also never asked for our bill yet and it was given to us without us asking. We wanted to order more food after our entree. Hence why we never got to order our Caesar salad. 2. This one was the most disappointing part of our dinner. We ordered tiramisu for our dessert, once served I noticed a glossy chunky on it, assuming it was maybe crystallized sugar. Wrong. It was a chunk of ice!! The tiramisu WAS STILL FROZEN!! For 12 bucks I can get some better tiramisu at king soopers, Safeway, or any other restaurant honestly. 3. There was an ant in my drink, and we weren't compensated for that. I have driven by the Odyssey along 6th Avenue for so many years, and I have always wanted to try it because the exterior looks so cute, especially at night with people eating outside. I finally got to try it with my friend, and we had a great experience. The pasta was super flavorful, and the portions were absolutely huge. I loved my gnocchi so much! We split a Caesar salad (again huge portion for $10), which was a great starter. Definitely had that distinct anchovy taste that I feel other restaurants shy away from. I loved it. Service was very attentive. Our server, Alex, was kind and checked in on us often. The entire staff was so hospitable from the host at the entrance, to the server, to the others who kept checking in to make sure we had a great evening. The ambience was great. Cozy, clean, very Italian feeling. The restaurant had people in it, and it hit the sweet spot of busy but not overly crowded or loud, especially for a Tuesday night. Good food, good service from Austin, Ambiance was a little noisy from all the customers. Bread and garlic, balsamic, and olive oil dip was good. Go easy on this because the dinner portions are big. Caesar salad was true authentic Caesar dressing. Perfect! The Penne Bolognese was really good. Great flavors, a dollop of ricotta in the middle. The homemade Manicotti was tasty but drowned in sauce. My wife and I recently went here for dinner and we enjoyed our experience. We tried the Lobster Ravioli & Shrimp, Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms and Caprese Insalata. The star of the show was the Lobster Ravioli & Shrimp. It had such great flavor and we dipped bread in the sauce as well. The Caprese Insalata was good too. We didn't love the Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms. The taste of the mushrooms overtook the taste of the lobster. But overall, the food was good. They reopened last week after being closed in February for a fire. I saw 2 outside patio areas, an inside area near the bar and an upstairs area. I learned the 2nd floor is for larger groups accessible only by stairs. I sat in the upstairs area which was not ideal being situated between the kitchen and he dishwashing room. My server, Janee introduced herself. She was formely with Ollie & Parks, their sister restaurant that closed in Match when an U-Haul truck hit the building. I started with an Aperol Spritz for $14. Then the Caprese Insalata. Plenty of tomatoes with thick slices of burrata all drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. Janee said Monday's are Pasta night where all pasta dishes normally $22 are $11.99; So I got the Fettuccine Carbonara with shrimp. Every table gets Foccacia with an olive oil & herb dip. But it was not Foccacia. On Pasta night you also get a Caesar salad. I added a glass of Agricola Punica "Samas" from the Italian island of Sardinia. A great smooth white Chardonnay & Vermentino blend for pasta. The fettuccine was correctly made with a cream sauce, prosciutto and peas. I got 5 large tail-on shrimps. They bring out a large bowl of grated parmesan cheese to add to your pasta. A nice touch. For dessert, I got the Limoncello cake with a 2nd glass of wine. But a weird issue popped up with the bill. Every food item was higher than the menu price. I asked Janee. She said their new POS software added in the card interchange fee which is 3%. But then I noticed the 9.15% sales tax was on the gross amount, not the actual food & drink amount. So they are overpaying sales tax which is lost revenue. I mentioned that to Janee. A different person said he would adjust the bill for the 3% fee. A glitch that needs to be remedied. Overall, the food & service were good. We made reservations for 5:15pm on a Saturday and were greeted and seated immediately upstairs. Our server came over shortly with water and went over what was not available on the menu and what specials were available that evening. After that bread was brought over so we could dip into the already placed olive oil and vinegar that was on the table prior to sitting. We started with the calamari with was tasty but noticed the breading kept falling off the rings. I kept having to scoop the fallen breading out of the dipping sauce. For entrees, I got the mussels and linguine and my husband got the chicken piccata. Every mussel in my dish had meat in it which was nice but I felt like the overall dish was missing something as it was quite acidic tasting.. maybe some cream? The chicken piccata was pretty good, with mushrooms, artichokes, carrots, broccolini, and capers. My husband doesn't really like mushrooms or artichokes so I had a few bites of those and they were tasty. He said the dish reminded him of "old world piccata" and not the modern dish he was expecting of just chicken, capers, and pasta. But he said he did enjoy it. Service was slow and we did hear the next table have some complaints and their bill was comped. We did wait a bit between each course and for the server to appear for the bill. I recently returned from visiting relatives in Denver and wanted to treat them to a lovely Italian dinner as a thank-you. I'd read wonderful things about Odyssey, so I was disappointed when I called to purchase a gift certificate and was told they could only be purchased in person. Since I'm now back home in California, that obviously isn't an option. I've purchased gift certificates from restaurants by phone or online many times and have never encountered a business that refused to accommodate such a simple purchase. Definitely recommend a reservation if dining on a weekend! We came on a Saturday for dinner, and it was quite busy. The restaurant itself is an old home, with dining areas on each of the floors. We tried a few different pasta dishes -linguine and mussels: this dish was great and a HUGE portion. The red seafood sauce had a nice garlic flavor and was well-seasoned. They definitely did not skimp on the seafood in this dish -lobster ravioli: this was decent. The flavor of the tomato cream sauce was great, and the raviolis were well-filled. The dish also came with a whole lobster tail, which was unexpected. However, both the ravioli and the lobster tail were very overcooked, causing mushy pasta and a very rubbery piece of seafood. -penne rustica: probably our least favorite. Again, the portion was generous, but the sauce seemed to be lacking something and fell flat. Our server was great and very friendly, but the food took a very long time to come out. We might return to try other dishes and for the seafood linguine, but there are so many other great options nearby. read more

The calamari were tiny rings of what might have been calamari if you could taste them under the thick breading. Tuff to give a negative review but not at all what we expected from this highly rated Italian restaurant. Everything started out good hostess was very nice and we were sat quickly. The ambiance was nice vintage Italian style. Wait staff was punctual and friendly. The major issue for us was the food. Four orders only one was I would say good. We went to start with apps but unfortunately the waiter made us aware calamari and Sicilian arancini unavailable at 7pm. So we skipped to dinner service but apps out at 7 on a Friday night is crazy. The bread service is weak at best again no real effort. I ordered the Shrimp Palmero definitely not a flavor packed as described and just real basic nothing special. My wife ordered the spaghetti with meatball or sausage. This was a disaster basically just a pile of meat sauce very disappointing especially for being a staple. My cousin ordered the staff recommended selection again just a pile of meat sauce no real effort. Last his wife ordered the Penne Rustica now that was delicious best meal on the table. I would say dinner just either just a miss for the night or something was just off in the kitchen. I will say the ladies both ordered Caesar salads those were delicious. The carbonara had a different flavor from the usual style I've had before, but it was still enjoyable. The Sicilian arancini rice balls were especially amazing and paired perfectly with the sauce. The pasta was very flavorful and well cooked. The bread was warm when brought to the table and the spices/ oil was delicious. Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired. Our waiter was not very friendly or warm. We were planning on getting dessert but the waiter brought the check to the table before even asking if we wanted any so we ended up just skipping it all together. But from the dessert platter I saw when we walked in, it looked promising. Was sat very quickly and served shortly after. The service is pretty relaxing so I never felt rushed or pushed out. Everyone I've seen that works here is pretty and nice. I might be lucky tho idk I'll have to come back more. This place has my favorite tiramisu in Denver with such a cozy homey feel. This time I was in the way upstairs looking out the window at the rain and the trees dancing. Very easy to hear other people's conversations and I like doing that sometimes. I've always heard about the amazing special they have on Mondays where pastas are $12 and comes with a salad and bread. We had to go try it but be aware, you have to make reservations very far in advance to get this special deal! I booked it about two months in advanced! We got three different types of pastas and of course had tiramisu! Penne Rustica Pasta, Fettuccine Carbonara Pasta, and Bowtie Gorgonzola Pasta. My favorite being the fettuccini carbonara, but all of them were good! The tiramisu is a must though, this has to be one of my favorite tiramisu in Denver so far! The special is basically $11.99 for ANY pasta dish and comes with free bread service and Ceaser salad per person. That is more than a steal!! We got the Baked Manicotti & Pesto Tortellini and both were scrumptious :P We showed up without a reservation on a Monday not expecting a completely packed house but were lucky enough to grab a spot at the right time and with the help of the hostess for a reservation that was later in the night. We went because of the reviews and the food didn't disappoint. In fact, it's an amazing authentic Italian restaurant, special or not. Their food portions were commendableand delicious with a highly attentive and wittily funny waiter, Ezra. Unfortunately, despite notifying the waitstaff of a gluten allergy and ordering the gluten free option for her pasta, my friend was still served the wrong thing. She got sick the next day. The food, the ambiabce and service was great, but The management staff promptly reimbursed my friend the next dat for her meal as an apology which was appreciated. Got my top three dishes to compare head-to-head this time. Favorite is the gorgonzola - the sauce is the most flavorful. Penne rustica is the most mild flavored with its tomato cream sauce, but it's the only one that comes with meat (sausage and chicken) included; it's also the dish that didn't make me feel super heavy after eating it. The pesto cream sauce was also good, but I would swap out the gnocchi for a different pasta because the gnocchi has a somewhat chewy texture, which I don't prefer with my gnocchi. read more

Due to the historic significance and this place being around for so many years we've been yearning to knock this place off our list. Aside from the service there was always at least one thing missing with our experience. The garlic bread came out looking heavenly with a perfect shimmer and layer of garlic ooey gooyness glazed over top but it was cold. The Diet Coke was flat after ordering it 3 times in a row.The pasta dishes we ordered (lamb shank ragu, pesto chicken dish and the chicken Alfredo) were all massively lacking in attention to detail, seasoning, and for some reason had pasta cooked at all different levels. The one commonality is that all of the food needed to be warmed up but we were worried it just be nuked for 30 seconds then brought back out so we didn't bother saying anything The reason I'm giving 3 stars and not one is out of respect to the business, the fact that we haven't tried the chocolate cake still sitting in our fridge, the cold yet flavorful garlic bread and the very attentive and friendly service. Went here this evening for dinner and their 1/2 Price Pasta dishes. I ordered the Gorgonzola Sauce on the Pasta stuffed with ricotta cheese. They also give you a delicious salad and fabulous bread and a Wonderful sauce. The Gorgonzola Sauce was Outstanding, but the pasta needed to cook a little bit longer. I spoke with my waiter regarding this, but he disagreed with me. I would not recommend that pasta again. My waiter was very accommodating. I will be backs. read more

Old School Italian Restaurant in a beautiful Victorian House on 6th Street. I had heard about this place from foodies so I knew I would be in for a treat. We happened to go on a Monday so we were able to avail their half-off pasta and salad special. Really a great price for huge portions of food. We were running crazy late for our reservation and called and the staff was incredibly nice to accommodate us even though they were so busy. We tried a few pastas. The gnocchi - housemade perfect pillows Capellini Pomodoro - pretty standard with good red sauce Bowtie - pretty standard with good red sauce I am not giving it a 5 only because the amount of garlic on the food overpowers everything. This is Odyssey Italian. It's a cute cozy quaint Italian restaurant. It's typically always busy and the food is pretty good as well. I think the Service does help as I've only experienced great service the times that I've been there. The menu is vast for the average Italian restaurant. It seems like there's a good amount to choose from from seafood to chicken to veggie dishes. I think it's a good mix. I went here for a date night and I ordered the penne rustica and I asked for no ricotta or sausage and while it was good, it was not great. The portion size was amazing. However, the pasta itself was a bit overcooked. Our waiter was Austin, and he was extremely delightful and attentive. This is definitely one of the better Italian restaurants on this side of downtown with Luca being a close competitor. Ultimately, this is a great place to chat or go on a date. There is an upstairs where you can sit year-round pretty much and there are heaters and it's covered so it does actually have a decent amount of space if you include that. The food was INCREDIBLE - my gnocchi was great, and they were gracious enough to let me swap out the pesto sauce for bolognese. The arancini is a show stopper, as well - highly recommend getting some to share for the table. They also brought us out a delicious cannoli for the bride and groom to cap off the evening. This place gets pretty packed. I'm guessing Denver doesn't have much of an Italian or "fine dining" scene given how people treat it. It's okay. Competent reservation and seating practices. Waiter was cool and personable, but it was clearly just a job to him. The atmosphere is a sort of forced quaintness that's continually shattered by a speeding car or loud group of people walking by. Heated outdoor tables and patio, even during fall, which must cost a fortune and isn't really needed - isn't being exposed to the elements exactly why you eat outside anyway? Bread and oil was okay. Salad was great, but very small. The sausage and peppers were delicious. The pasta was not, but was above average. Dessert was good. Parking isn't impossible to find (the restaurant does not have a lot of their own), but expect to pay and walk unless you luck out with nearby street parking. Servers are eager to box your food, which I found unusual. Pasta was half off (and is on every Monday), which I found even more unusual. What in the hell kind of Italian restaurant gives discounts? I'd look into other nearby places before coming back here. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the suffocating amounts of good Italian out East, but I feel like someone could do better than this even in this part of the country. Came for the $12 pasta Mondays and did not have the best experience! If you're going for pasta Mondays, a reservation is HIGHLY recommended. They use OpenTable. Let's talk parking.. it's hard. Just plan ahead and know that it's street parking only. You might have to drive a couple blocks away and walk over. When you first walk in, it's like a small house. If you have a large party, I would suggest one person go check in and have everyone stand outside. It got a little crowded when my party of 4 arrived. We didn't want to block the door way but also felt we were in the way no matter where we stood. Seating is a little tight in the main room. We didn't think we were gonna hit our neighbors but definitely hard to take off and put on a jacket if you know what I mean. I made a reservation so we were seated within 5 minutes. Our waiter came over pretty quick with waters. He told us it was pasta Mondays and that all pasta is $12 and it comes with bread and a salad, he said he would give us a couple minutes to look over the menu. At the bottom of the menu is says "all dinner is served with homemade bread ..." since we were there for the pasta deal we were really excited it came with bread too! As we looked over the menu we noticed it was getting full quickly. We noticed our waiter greeting other tables. By now it's been roughly 10 mins and we were all ready to order. We had our menus down on the table. We looked for our waiter and noticed he was still greeting other tables so we just waited and tried to make eye contact when he walked by. Another 5 mins passes and we noticed he took an order for a table that was seated after us, and then he did it again with another table. I tried to make eye contact and said excuse me but he didn't see or hear me. It was when another 5 minutes passed that we all thought he forgot about us. At this point we are pretty hungry. We saw him head to a near by table and waited for him to finish assisting them. We then said excuse me a little louder and gently raised our hands in the air. He noticed us and finally took our orders. At this point it's been 20 minutes since we were seated and we could not wait for our bread and salads. The bread and salad came within 5/10minutes. We were a little shocked that only 2 rolls of bread were on the plate. Keep in mind this was a party of 4 and the menu said "all dinner is served with homemade bread". In our minds we thought that meant everyone got a bread. I flagged down the waiter and asked if we were going to get 2 more rolls of bread. He said no and looked confused. I told him about the menu saying all dinner. We each ordered a dinner so I was just confused. He said no just 2 rolls but I can bring you more. We declined because we didn't know how much he would charge us for 2 more rolls. We looked the price of the salad and it was $5! If they are charging $5 for a small salad we could only guess they would charge another $5 for 2 rolls of bread so that was a little disappointing. Our pastas arrived 15mins later. They were all hot and fresh! We were all so excited to try our sauces! I got the fettuccine carbonara! They make theirs as a cream sauce, mixed with their alfredo sauce. I thought it was good. Very thick and more creamy than a traditional carbonara. Nothing too special. We all ate about half of our dinners so we were very full. When we first arrived we all had the intention of getting a dessert! They even have samples of what they all look like on a tray and bring that around to show you what it looks like! Then they get you a fresh dessert haha. I thought that was so cool! Well.... When our waiter came over he didn't even ask if we wanted dessert or bring the tray over :( he just handed us the bill, said no rush, and asked if we wanted a box for our leftovers. We were really disappointed. Overall it was such a sad experience. I don't know if that waiter was having a bad day or what but it was not the best service :( the food on the other hand was good. It's a place I would go back to on a Monday. I do wonder if they honor the pasta Monday prices for take out orders cause that would be really convenient for living in the area! read more

I had some family in town and was recommended to us to try out Odyssey. We made sure to make a reservation and glad we did. We had a great table on the 2nd floor. I loved the building and the old house feeling. There is no parking lot but plenty of space in the neighborhood with just a short walk. Our waiter was terrific at answering questions and making sure we had everything we needed. The bread at the beginning was terrific and the chicken parm was topped with some of the best sauce I've ever had. Don't sleep on the desserts, that cheesecake is out of this world! My girlfriend and I will definitely be back on a date night soon with just the two of us. read more

Try not to fill up in the bread! Found this place online and figured we would check it out based on all the good reviews. We came on a Friday and you for sure needed a reservation unless you were willing to wait. This place is pretty tiny and was packed. We definitely filled up on the bread but got the caesar salad as an appetizer. It was good but not anything above average. The entrees was where its at. I got the penne bolognese which was phenomenal and only $20. The sauce was thick, flavorful, and homemade which was delicious. The portions were huge as i did not even come close to finishing mine. Overall this place had really good authentic italian food at a great price which is hard to come by these days. Although it's just outside of downtown it is worth the drive! read more

We came here for their Monday deal. Any pasta from the right section of the menu + a salad entry which is a Caesar salad. I suggest making a reservation 2-3 weeks in advance as they are busy. I called ahead and asked if we came in and put our name down we could get seated and they said they have a very small bar area that is first comes first serve and to come as soon we they open. I put myself on the waitlist for open table and got a notification the day of! I recommend going that route but does not guarantee a spot. We ordered the penne rustica and the calamari for appetizer. The pasta is a big portion and delicious! + the Caesar salad. The calamari was a little chewy but still edible. I'm giving this a 5 start due to the service, even though they were very packed they still made time to greet us and chat. We had a blast getting to know Tyler and his girlfriend (another server). The ambiance is great, you can be seated inside or in their patio, we enjoyed being outside and people watch. Great spot for a date night! read more
