I asked for a call back from the Dr. got none. Was going to start palladia (a chemo drug) for my cat and was confused about when labs needed to be done, etc. called and again front line staff was rude, unhelpful. I made an appointment to follow up after a week of medication and hung up. Hours later I received a text saying I needed to have labs done before I started a medication for my cat , which I had already given him, and wouldn't have if front line staff had been more engaged, ie looked up his chart I called for clarification. When I asked if I was speaking to the person who answered earlier she said yes and hung up on me. I called back a bit later and was transferred to a vet who told me she would care for my pet but couldn't have me "curse at the staff." That never happened. At all. I then told her I didn't trust the establishment to care for my cat as I couldn't trust information would get where it needed to be properly since front line had lied and they were going to co-sign I was immediately kicked out of the app which was weird to me since I couldn't get my pets information I asked to have the records sent to a different vet. When I arrived they said they hadn't gotten them. This was days later Today I requested them sent to me. I now see why I was kicked out the app. They had a whole made up story in the chart about the phone call where I supposedly cursed at the front line staff. Never happened. But now it's in my pets chart that is transferred to all future vets. Absolutely unbelievable. It's almost laughable, except these people are putting false information into charts to cover their poor behavior. Their subpar service. What are they saying they have done to our pets that isn't true? What else have they written to cover for other poor service?

We have three cats and have happily spent four years as patients/customers at A Breed Apart…read more I should say, I am a helicopter cat mom. I've read books, I'm always learning about cat history, behavior, quirks, etc. People know me as the crazy cat lady and I am a hovercraft when it comes to my cat's health. When we first adopted a cat in 2016, we lived off Gammon, so A Breed Apart just made sense. The doctors were kind and friendly. Then we got a kitten in 2017 and put both the cats on ASPCA insurance just in case. Both were adopted from shelters, so they were spayed already, but the staff at ABA has always helped us with vaccinations, check ups, strange bouts of vomiting and micro chipping. Dr. Meyers and Dr. Vanderloo are our favorites along with Julie and Chris our usual vet techs. Then in 2019, we ended up with a kitten by accident and despite having moved across town to central/East Madison, you bet we still make the drive to our vets at A Breed Apart. We had to go through the spaying process for the first time this past December and I was terrified. The vet techs here are just awesome and they dealt with my crazy mom nerves and helped calm both me and our kitten. They took her all day and did the surgery, called me and only ~$210 later, I had a fixed kitty. We came back 10 days later for stitch removal for free -- I was surprised at how easy they made the whole thing. Then there was a rough week when our first born was diagnosed with kidney issues/renal disease. I was crushed and terrified to hear that one of our kids was sick and not doing well. Dr. Vanderloo was so awesome about everything -- she had a great attitude and kept us (me) calm. She helped us put our cat on specialty prescription food and has extended our cat's life for sure. We are proud to be an ABA family and will continue to be as long as we live in Madison.

I took my sweet boxer Charlee here for the past 3 years and the care she received from day one was beyond incredible. While Charlee was easy to love, she had a lot of medical needs and the entire team was there not just to treat her, but to love and care for her as if she were their own. The entire team was incredible throughout and provided wonderful service, but a very special thanks and recommendation to Dr. Kate Waushabaugh and Georgia who went above and beyond for Charlee, and myself. Charlee was in the best hands...from routine care, emergencies and up to the point to when she fell asleep in this world. I trusted their care, their opinion, their service. Their primary goal is to give the best care possible and so it never felt transactional, insensitive or for profit. Dr. Kate spent countless hours with me talking, researching and extending kindness that I'm sure I can't ever repay just to give Charlee the best possible care - however we got there. Even when it came time to say goodbye, Dr. Kate stayed with us, and then walked us out without ever blinking an eye about the details. That kind of peace of mind she provided is priceless. I can't say the same for other places in the area, hence this review. There is no other place I would have trusted more with my most loved pet , and will continue to do so in the future as well. I was told that you didn't do emergency or urgent care visits. No info was offered on who did, you didn't see if an exception could be made nothing but "we're sorry". I ended up taking her all the way to Lake Geneva to be seen. Granted it gave me 2 more hours to be with her but it didn't help in saving her life. I had to have her put down at 5:43. For me those extra 2 hours were more suffering for her and agony for me. I doubt that I will have another animal but if I do, my shadow won't darken your doorway for them to be seen.

It was a wellness checkup for the kitty, Emmy. I was having concerns bout her weight, and how to manage it with another chonky cat at home. Both the vet tech and the veterinarian gave me solid advice I've been using since the appointment and we've found something that's been working. I know my fiancé had brought our dog, Bowie, in for an earlier appointment, in or around Jan/Feb. He didn't like how expensive they were, I'll add that in. I haven't ran into any major differences between here and any other vet. They were super great when I was carrying a cat and holding the dog. They helped me get all my stuff ready, get the prescription ready while I got them in the car. It was a very pleasant experience. This is a very nice vet, it's not super fancy. Has a small town feel, but it's located a little closer to Madison.

This experience was not great, and it started and ended with the desk staff. I arrived and it was unclear to the employees who was supposed to help me. The women were walking past me until one stepped up to the desk and checked me in. I then went into one of the rooms and had my cat looked at. The veterinarian was very nice and helpful. She was knowledgeable and wanted to help my cat get better. I left the room and came back the next day for another appointment. The staff were confused and angry that I had questions about my cat. I needed other information that the vet said she had left but the front desk staff and vet techs had no idea what was going on. It was surprising to me that the desk staff were rude to me on the phone and in person. I had a great experience with the veterinarian but with the other staff it was not great. After these few instances I have stopped taking my animals here, which was pretty hard considering their veterinarian is wonderful. I hope in the future I will be able to return without the desk staff being rude.

I called in the late morning (around 11) asking about prices for shots and some different preventative medications, and they seemed fair, so I asked if I could get my pup in later that day, and they had an opening a little after 2. Since we were new, I gave her a little information about my pup over the phone, and that was that. Checking in the first time was a breeze. Wrote down my information and his, put him on the scale and we were done. I spent roughly 5 minutes in the waiting room after that and the Vet came out and called my pup's name. We went in, he asked some background questions, and went over what we came in for. I asked if there was anything else he recommended, and he said there was one more vaccination, and another, depending on how often I had him around other dogs. I told them I would like to buy Advantix for flea and tick prevention, and he said they no longer carried it, but offered to check if they had any left of the supply they once had, and also told me about an equivalent they switched to without pressuring me into that one. I ended up going with the one they carried, and got rebates on it and the other preventative medication I purchased. Checking out was just as simple and easy as checking in, the staff was friendly and professional through my entire visit, with not only my dog, but all of the animals I saw them interact with. To summarize, not a negative word to say. Great place, I'm very pleased.

They are extremely dishonest and make it extremely obvious that they could care less about our…read moredogs. Their only goal is to make as much money as possible. They are willing to agree to anything as long as it gets you in the door. We have spent going on $2,000 in only a few months with them yet they have been extremely dishonest and evil. They refuse to even group vaccines that American Kennel Association and other vets say are safe so they can charge additional visit fees despite telling me they would group the vaccines when I scheduled the visit.
