We managed to get rooftop seating (if the day is nice, I HIGHLY recommend this option) and it was a super amazing opportunity to get outside for a early evening drink + meal. We were here for restaurant week, and also managed to get in a couple happy hour drinks and plaintains. Unlike one of the previous reviews, I really enjoyed the food. The catfish was well fried, and the rice and beans it came with appeared to have been cooked with some sort of meat (there was some hunks of pork? or beef?) so it had good flavor as well. The plaintains were also really sweet, and the Oxtail we had was also very tender - not something that can be achieved by a quick cook. I was not that impressed with the cocktails - they weren't anything to write home about, but they were cheaper because it was Happy Hour. Excellent place that doesn't get enough attention! The happy hour wings were so good and we were really happy with the ambience on both the upper and lower floor. We initially made a rooftop reservation that we decided to switch to downstairs because we really liked the music and the vibes downstairs. My friend and I accidentally discovered that they have an all day happy hour on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so when we went in yesterday (a Wednesday) we were pleasantly surprised and got some tasty snacks (wings and fries) for very reasonable prices and a handful of cocktails and mixed drinks (also reasonably priced). The service was great and attentive. The lemon pepper wings were really good - they also have BBQ and Buffalo flavor options. We will definitely be coming back for more happy hour fun! read more

We got there a little after they opened on Sunday for brunch. Two in our group had the banana's foster French toast. Both agreed it was tasty however they would've preferred a thicker bread. I had the two egg breakfast that came with potatoes, sourdough toast, and fruit. Nice size portion. I added chicken sausage which was flavorful. I think the potatoes would've been better if they were cooked in smaller pieces but they were still tasty overall. Another friend had the biscuits, potatoes, and a side of bacon. She said the bacon was nice and crispy. Biscuit was good but could've been hotter. Soft butter would've also been nice. They had a large group upstairs, but they communicated with us regarding the service so overall, we were happy with that. Service could be a hit or miss depending on when you come. I've only visited twice and it could be a long wait to even grab a bartenders attention. I think peak times are definitely after work on weekdays and sometimes they have private events booked up on the rooftop or other areas. I did like the wings but they were tiny and we ordered 2 sets of wings, the last one came late like 40 min after. At that point we didn't want it anymore. I do like their selection of wines and liquor so I'll be back for that! They didn't have the tacos when I came but I appreciate how the kitchen is open late. I'm mainly here for the red beans and rice nowadays, but I used to frequent Oeste for dinner and drinks with the ladies or a random date night and can attest to the service and ambiance as well as the flavors. I've also been for the brunch and that was worthy, too. So, Oeste has yet to disappoint me and my tribe. It can be a challenge to park, of course, because it's downtown, but for some reason the parking goddesses have usually smiled upon me and I've been fine. There's bar seating, table seating, and a rooftop, so options abound. It's giving elevated casual, a little trendy without trying too hard, and I always seem to meet someone nice at the bar if I end up sitting there. The customer service can be up or down, to keep it real. I think that could be partially attributed to those nights when a place gets slammed and staff can't entirely bear that weight. But there's also plenty of times that I go in there and get great service, friendly faces, and smiling hostesses and 'tenders... So it's honestly a toss-up. This was truly a disappointing experience, and unfortunately, it will be my last visit. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was lacking. The hostess greeted us with a rude and dismissive attitude. A kind customer offered to share his table so we wouldn't have to sit right by the door, but instead of accommodating the gesture, the hostess approached us with an unprofessional tone, questioning why we were seated there--despite the customer's clear invitation. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, our receipt included items we never ordered. When we brought this to the waitress's attention, she slammed the corrected receipt on the table without an apology or acknowledgment of the mistake. It left me wondering how many other customers might unknowingly pay for incorrect items. Between the rude hostess and the careless behavior of the server, the service felt mediocre at best. Then we get a shout from someone else saying "We are not serving drinks until 4pm!" (It was 1000 sqft space mind you, shouting was a bit overkill - like we were in a school yard). My friend and I now take the time to chat and learn more about each other, great time. Then it's finally 4pm and we can order something ‍. We order and keep chatting. Please know my friend is 42 looking 32 and outfit fire AF! She's grown and I notice men see that, go girl. We then get a tap or call from behind us and it's a girl and her boyfriend or whatever he is to her, she's asking us to move down so her and her guy can sit down. Mind you there's two seats to my left and one to the right of my friend. Girl coulda just sat down on the two chairs next to me...this is girl code for "I'm insecure and I want to control you and your friend and your night and basically try to destroy it." Anyway.... I said "oh you can have all the chairs you want...we are actually here for the rooftop party." Girl looked dumbfounded and shocked as her guy continued to glance and stare at my friend as we walked up the stairs to the rooftop. So toxic energy is alive and well so far. We get to the rooftop and decided to sit at a high chair (four chairs, nice to spread out), and we are immediately told, not asked, TOLD to "find" a two person table because it was going to get "busy." (Rooftop never got that busy) Again, the attitude just high! The good thing is that both my friend and I have gone through therapy, she's a social worker - so we've seen a lot and choose to stay in our light and positive energy but it was wild! Then we go to order and they say they don't have 3/4 of what's on the menu. Okay...we just go with it! By the end of the night we had chicken wings, catfish plate (shared family style - we ended up with leftovers because of the vibes of the place), one shot of well tequila and a pineapple juice and this all came to $70 including a gratuity & a card fee ‍ ! They got us coming and going! Lmao - I go downstairs to get my card to pay and downstairs has become a summer watering hole with at least 50 people crowded around the bar. With reservations, my party arrived at 7:45 pm on Juneteenth. The place is offered a lively atmosphere. Although the rooftop was open, we chose not to eat outside, because it felt quite chilly. After being seated inside, we saw small groups of patrons headed up to enjoy the rooftop. This busy night only had one table open, which was quickly filled. Our main entreés arrived simultaneously, but the salad we ordered came later. This was not a big issue, since the table was smaller and there was not much space to hold another platter. I opted for the shrimp ceviche, which had a subtle spice, appropriately citrusy, had fresh tortillas chips, but was missing the avocado. The catfish was indeed crispy and held a beautiful Cajun flavor with a nice kick. Our Little Gem salad was okay - the amount of dressing was slightly too much, but the blue cheese became the star paired with the apples. My Beach Bum cocktail was beautifully tropical - appropriately sweet, the flavor of Appleton rum was present without being overbearing, and felt refreshing. A really chill vibe and excellent staff make a visit to Oeste worth it. We were greeted by Maja and she made us feel welcome walking in the door the evening of my time there. We sat upstairs on the rooftop open area, by ourselves the entire time. A lot of people downstairs missed a specatular evening dining al fresco. A start with the grilled brussel sprouts app it was tasty and served with a nice dipping sauce. For my entree I went for the Salmon teriyaki it was delicious, a nice portion of perfectly cooked fish, moist pink and flavorful served over a bed of rice and a side of fresh mixed greens salad. The fish was done very well and it was a good choice. There were a few different mocktails on the menu so I opted for the mocking bird it was a cool drink. Not to sweet and well balanced, so much so I had a second one. Finished the evening witha fresh bread pudding, again a solid choice - warm, caramel and cinnamon with a good chocolate drizzle topped with fresh whipped cream and powdered sugar. We ordered the fry catfish plate. It comes with catfish, red beans and rice. It was perfection. The fish was crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside and seasoned very well. The beans were almost better than mine. They make them with smoke turkey and add just enough heat to them. And it wen great with the white rice. The portion is huge. We ordered fried plantains. They did not disappoint. They were fried well and were sweet. Loved it. We got Mac and cheese that was sinful. They make their with gruyère cheese which made it soft and cheesy on the inside and crusty on the outside. Great twist on the dish. We ordered a green salad which was large and in charge. The dressing was yummy and the salad was fresh and tasty. Lastly, we ordered the bread pudding. So delicious, the whip cream was so fresh and was drizzled in caramel which made it also sinful. I left out of there with a stuffed belly and totally satisfied. If I lived in the Bay Area this would definitely be my weekly spot. I can't recommend it enough. My boss wanted to take us out to dinner for Christmas. He has suggested this place which he had been before and loved it. I thought it was a perfect spot. The ambience was really nice, good music and it was just a feel good environment. The food was so good. We have the chicken wings, brussels sprouts for appetizers. A couple of us had the catfish with red beans and rice, which is really good and the others had chicken sandwiches or something like that. The drink I had was really good. The first time was for a friends birthday on the rooftop section and what I can remember before the many drinks kicked in is that I loved the rooftop set up , the music, the drinks and service from our waitress was 100%. I've been to Oeste a handful of times - my first time was coming here for my 30th bday brunch when they first opened. I don't mailed the owner to reserve the long communal table for a group of 15 and they were very accommodating! Food was great and the service was phenomenal. On my 2nd time it was one of their roof parties they used to throw before covid. Very solid event - great drinks and vibey music. My recent visit was during date night. My boyfriend reserved a table on their rooftop and we had a great dinner. We had the Brussel sprouts (the sauce that came w it I feel like it didn't go w the dish), plantains (def get these!), jambalaya (tasty but wish there's more shrimp) and the cat fish! The food was amazing - next time we'll probably comeback to try the fried fish! The only downside is the cocktail- they didn't have much option for gin drinkers but that's all good. We went to Oeste for our first brunch in the Bay Area and they did not disappoint! I definitely recommend making reservations because it's a high demand restaurant. We opted for the indoor seating. The service is great, we were seated shortly after checking in and our waiter was at our table to take our order after a few minutes. We started our brunch date with the mimosa pitcher! You can choose a few juice options, but we went with the pineapple. Definitely worth the price point of $38 for two people, instead of $10 per mimosa. For entrees, we ordered the Banana Fosters French Toast and the Croissant Sandwich. The French toast was AMAZING! So good and even with the sauce and whipped cream, the French toast wasn't soggy. The croissant sandwich was huge and came with a side of breakfast potatoes. The sandwich was good, but started to fall apart after a few bites. The only thing that wasn't good were the potatoes. They needed seasoning, salt and pepper. So, we thought we were done after finishing our mimosas and food, but the vibe and music was so good we decided to order another cocktail!
