Before the concert at Fox Theatre, we stopped into the hatch to have a bite to eat, I got the locotaco and Aaron got the pizza slice

I was in the area for a concert, and we decided to get something to eat before the show. Stumbled across this place. I got this taco Loco and Aaron got a slice of pizza, we ate outside on the patio, very nice atmosphere The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend

Cute specials. Dive bar with a nice bar food menu and good tunes. Right downtown Oakland! The service was a little bit slow and there weren't that many people there. The open seating plan was good... the choices for seating were strange: Bar, Upstairs (where there's no air circulation n it's hot n sticky) or at an extra large table....we tried all the seats and opted for the extra large table which seemed awkwardly placed. The food was good and fresh! There are very little thoughts into the menu, but we ordered a few things and it was good... hit the spot. No fru fru or anything..... so if you feel like baskets of fries and a burger n hotdogs.... Reasonably priced with good drinks.... This is for you! Note: bowl of packaged condiments, ick! Street parking. Only one gender friendly restroom which was dirty... brought my own disinfectant food wipes, thank goodness!

Late night food to protect yourself from a hangover? Look no further my dear this is the place to get wings, the BIGGEST slice of pizza to chase the hunger away. Service was quick and very casual. So glad Hoza pizza lives on within the hatch

It's a cool little dive bar. I've been twice now, about 8 months between visits. It's an end of the night kind of bar, like your last night cap after a night out. I will say the shots seemed a little short this time but eh, whatever. They have an upstairs area behind like a gate. Cool for pictures and stuff. It's very red inside so if you have color sensitivities, this may bother you.

Great spot for a burger! Juicy and packed with flavor. Tater tots were excellent, added garlic and cheese. Couldn't finish them.

The Hatch has food and is overpriced for what you get. I used to go here a few years ago and thought it was "dive food for a dive'ish price", now it's expensive for what you get. I did enjoy my double cheeseburger last time (and would get it again), but the other "specialty" burgers are not great and significantly over priced. Fries alone are good, although the parmesan garlic fries are literally pre shredded crap parmesan and jar diced garlic tossed on fries, toppings are cold and not well integrated into the dish. It's like the cook never tried them? That's a common theme for everything, for instance on my burger "onion" was a 3/8" thick slice of solid onion. The kitchen just kind of serves food. $9 fries $10+ for a burger, specialty $16+. $7 beer tl/dr: If it's late and you're drunk, it's a valid burger option (don't get garlic parmesan fries), otherwise I'd say search elsewhere for your burger and fries (dare I say Scolari's??!).

Did this used to be Five10 pizza with the duck bacon and the pinball?

What time does the kitchen close?

Whenever they feel like it. They closed at 12:45 last night. Super bummed we didn't make it in time.

    Is this only 21+?

Brought my 17 year old son there around 6 pm to grab food and hang out as of 5/2021. Didn't have any issues.

What the heck....no phone number to this place?

No one answers when I call the number. Just a fax machine on the other end of this number apparently

I've been here for date nights, holiday dinners, business dinners, and countless meals with friends visiting from out of town. It's one of those rare restaurants that seems to work for just about any occasion. The service is always great, the College Avenue location is hard to beat, and I've always had good luck finding street parking nearby. The ribeye is my personal favorite and what I order more often than not. If you're coming with a group, the cheese and charcuterie plates are a great way to start. The menu is varied enough that there's always something for everyone, and I've never had a bad meal here. I was genuinely sad to hear that they'll be closing at the end of the year. Restaurants with this kind of quality, consistency, and character are increasingly rare. If you've never been, make a point of going while you still can. I'll certainly miss it once they're gone.

They did partially redeem themselves by comping our meals due to their error and additional time we had to wait, but you would think they would not make such a blatant mistake in the first place. Sloppy service for sure. It apparently wasn't our waiter's fault, who was super friendly, but some manager or somebody, who did completely the wrong thing without double checking, and grabbed our food and set it down on some other patron's table, who I guess then began eating it. Seriously? The food has always been good here but the atmosphere super loud and echoey, not good. So, needless to say, I'm glad they are closing. It's just unfortunate that they are leaving somewhat bad terms with me.

It was really drippy and sticky with a lot of honey oozing on the plate - I would be much happier to order it crispy and dry without honey if that's an option. My friend enjoyed her eggs benedict. They also had a good beer and wine menu and my friend ordered a sour beer. Overall I had a really nice time here, it's a good vibe, friendly service, good Bloody Mary and good food! He found the ribs to be fall-off-the bone tender, with potatoes that were more whipped than mashed alongside a carrot puree. I, on the other hand, had the New York Steak and au gratin potatoes. Though I wanted to enjoy my entree, I found the New York Steak to be unfortunately chewy and with too much fat. The au gratin potatoes could have had more crispy layers but tasted mediocre.
