Private patio off side of room
    Kimberly C.

It's an OK neighborhood spot. I waited at the bar but couldn't get anyone's attention. It has rooms available for small events. Decor was like used home furniture. I never checked out the bathrooms. The patio area off the back was quaint but I didn't see any heat lamps so a warm evening would be best. If the venue provided the food it looked just ok but not appetizing enough to try. One of my coworkers ordered food to go and she said it was "just ok" and it took a long time to get served. The parking is very congested and the lighting was poor. It's an "ok" part of Oakland but never let your guard down. I doubt I will return...

Date: 6/26/2025 Time: 6:45 PM 65° Sunny My male companion and I are at D Monaghan's for his birthday (73 years young). It is our first time dining here. Since he treated me to a memorable dinner for my birthday exactly seven months ago, I did likewise. Our birthdays are on the 26th, but different months (June, November). We arrive and a waiter tells us to take a seat anywhere in the restaurant. I was expecting a maitre'd or a host to escort us since my companion made reservations for dinner at 7 PM. Dining at any restaurant for the first time means I usually order an Arnold Palmer to determine whether the food is going to be tasty and delicious. The Arnold Palmer has a nice balance of lemonade and iced tea. Did the Arnold Palmer pass the test? Yes, it did (4 stars)! Eats: Starter is a beet salad consisting of spring mix greens, diced beets, thinly sliced orange, candied walnuts, diced goat cheese topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. (4 stars). I'm not even a goat cheese fan. LOL. Next up was salmon (me) and steak (birthday guy). Salmon was topped with a wine glaze and served with roasted potatoes and seasoned vegetables. Salmon was fresh and moist. Meal was on point (4 stars). Steak was a NY steak also served with the same sides. The steak was well seasoned, but it had a chewy texture...ugh gristles. My man said the steak was the wrong cut. He also felt that the sauce should have been Lea & Perrins worcestershire sauce instead of A1 sauce. (3 stars). We passed up on dessert. The description of the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream probably would have been delicious, but I was full. Service could have been better. Waiter had a nonchalant demeanor, and an average degree of attentiveness (3 stars). The ambiance is casual and comfy. We had window seats looking out to the outdoor patio. (3.5 stars). Inasmuch as I would like to have given D Monaghan's a 4 star rating, and there is no 3.5 star ratings on yelp, I had a choice of either rounding up or rounding down. In this case, I rounded it down to a three stars. In comparison to other dining venues such as Parche (uptown Oakland), Alley & Vine (Alameda), Willows & Pine (Dimond District), Angelina's Louisiana Kitchen (Berkeley), Coqueta (SF) and The Waterfront Restaurant (SF), D Monaghan's left me a certain level to be desired. Also, street parking was problematic and there was no parking spaces in their lot. By luck, my man found a parking space 1/2 a block away after searching around the corner. (2.5 stars) Future visit? Might then might not.

An extremely nice atmosphere and a very attractive menu. Location is in the cut, but this makes it more appealing. Drinks were delicious. The bar is separate from the dining area which is nice though I would've enjoyed hearing the music they were playing in the dining area but I understand Great place for couples and first dates. Or hanging out with the guys.girlfriends.

Let's just say ....me and my girls popped in for a quick sippy sip. Little did we know we were in Raider Nation (hell yeah) and were around some hella cool people! Let me break it down...........!! If you're looking for flavor, vibes, and a whole lot of Raider Nation spirit, D Monaghan's On the Hill is the spot. I stopped in and ordered the street corn ribs--and let me tell you, they were delicious, juicy, and packed with smoky goodness. A total flavor bomb. But the real MVP of the night? Tracy the bartender. She was super sweet, attentive, and brought such a warm energy to the space. Not to mention--cute as hell! She made the whole experience feel personal and fun. The crowd was everything you'd want from an Oakland hangout: friendly, lively, and pulsing with Raider pride. TVs everywhere, good music, and a laid-back lounge vibe that makes you want to stay a while. The space itself has that perfect blend of neighborhood bar meets game-day lounge--cozy enough to feel familiar, but buzzing with energy. The lighting is warm, the seating is comfortable, and the walls are decked out with sports memorabilia that gives it real character. And the menu? Loaded. From wings to sliders to creative twists like those corn ribs, there's something for every craving. You won't leave hungry--or bored. Grab a French 75 - you will not regret it!

We went here for a Thursday Night Football game. First, I was happy there were plenty of 49ers fans. That's enough for 2 stars out of the gate. Lol It's not a big sports bar. It seemed to be more a local spot - comfortable, cozy, and relaxing. It could use an update in the furniture and A/V equipment, but we had a good time nonetheless. The bar area was a little crowded, and it took a while to get our drinks. But, the bartenders and wait staff were friendly and patient. The wings were good. I only wish people cooked them longer. They weren't raw, but I like mine more well done and wasn't around when we ordered. My bad !!! This is definitely a spot I would recommend and return to. My next visit, though, would be a normal Friday or Saturday night. It, maybe a Sunday to see how they handle games then. Until next time ......

Celebrated our anniversary dinner here. We shared a Caesar salad. Hubby had the fried catfish, broccoli and mashed potatoes. Washed it down with lemonade. I had the chicken masala, mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. Had a Guinness which I hadn't had in a longggg time. We enjoyed our hot entrees and even had enough for lunch the next day. Desserts? We opted to pass as we were full to the hilt. We'll be back soon to try out something else. Yummilicious Private parking park & off-street parking.

Attended this black owned fine establishment to celebrate the owners birthday. We enjoyed margaritas, shots of tequila and modeloes. The DJ was excellent. Several different entertainment areas. Great place to watch sports too.

Never knew this place was here even tho I been next door at round table a million times. Had drinks and late lunch with my friend and really enjoyed the environment. I liked the catfish more than the pork chops, but both were good. We got there during happy hour so it got busy pretty fast. The bartender was sweet and attentive. I will return to try other items on the menu

Stopped by D Monaghan's right after work to check it out. I've always been curious about this place and when I discovered it was Black-owned, I made sure I went. I love the location, the ambiance is amazing, the decor is nice. I sat outside and the weather was perfect, so was the patio vibe. The service was excellent, my server was attentive but not pushy. The food was just incredible. The Buffalo Cauliflower was extremely flavorful, that great buffalo wing spice with a perfectly cooked cauliflower texture. The mojito was good as well. Let's just say a very generous portion of alcohol with the minty flavor was right on point. Though I only ordered an appetizer and drink, it was enough to make me want to return. I will be back for a full meal and cannot wait.

While a few of the dishes we had heard about were gone from the menu (Mina specialties) they had a solid listing of staples and I understand they're working on formally relaunching the restaurant with a bunch of new dishes. The vibe is great (5Star) - good seating with each table having something fun to look at, be it the bar or the ocean, and the music was groovy for lack of a better word. Food was 4 stars but the steak, tipped me back into 5 star category. We had the spicy tuna roll which appeased our sushi desire, the Caesar salad for some greens, and the Delmonico Ribeye with carrots. The steak was phenomenal and I paired it with a Vesper Martini which was mixed expertly. Looking forward to coming back and seeing what the new owners do on the relaunch.

We had a productive conversation about what service should be and can be. And once they get the team more settled, I'll come back and see how the experience changes. A solo diner I sat at a table by the door. It was fine. The view is beautiful. And I was excited to have a menu with more than a salad as the gluten free option. I ordered from the $50 2 course prix fix menu. After I was sat, the waiter missed my glass pouring the water and poured it on the table. He was adjusting a chair for my handbag which I appreciated, but failed to see or clean the puddle on my table where my plate was to go. After ordering coffee, the waitress brought it out in a cup cracked from rim to base. And set it down with no mind or notice. I had to tell her it was broken and requested a cup that wasn't broken. My parfait arrived, it looked beautiful. Hurriedly setting it down, turning his back to me and quickly assisting another table the waiter failed to notice I didn't have a spoon to eat my food with. Expecting steak as my next course I'm not eating a parfait with a fork and knife. Looking around I saw a cluster of three servers talking in a corner. My first server no where in sight. So I got up and walked inside to request a spoon so I could begin eating. The manager came out and spoke with me, and said he would address the service. Unfortunately the damage has been done. This is my first time visiting Tiburon, and I passed on recommendations to go to Sam's and Malibu Farm to come here. Deeply regretting that decision. As a solo diner I find we can be treated as after thoughts to a server. What they should consider is we have a voice, spending power, and in my case a love of dining out.

The bar itself is super nice! We missed the drag show (bummer), but everyone who caught it said it was a blast. There were TVs playing games, plenty of seating, and a big open dance floor which definitely added to the fun vibe. Drinks were delicious and the bartenders were friendly. one of them even doubled as the MC and was hilarious. One thing I really appreciated was the self-serve water station. I drink a ton of water, and it's such a hassle trying to get the bartender's attention just for that, so this was a win for both guests and staff. Now... here are my two gripes: A bar that size with only one toilet in the women's restroom? Rough. The line got ridiculous. The music volume was insanely loud. I get it, it's a bar, loud music is expected. But this was next level. You couldn't even have a conversation without yelling, and several people in our group mentioned it, so I know it wasn't just me. Since this place isnt really close to home, I probably wont be back. The cocktail menu is impressively deep, full of beautifully crafted, fancy tiki drinks that practically beg to be explored, and so far every single one I've tried has been delicious (dangerously so). Inside, the bar nails the classic tiki vibe--warm, immersive, and transportive--while the outdoor patio offers a lovely, relaxed option with plenty of extra seating on warm days. It's the kind of place where you can linger, laugh, and lose track of time. The staff deserve a special shout-out: genuinely friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which only adds to the overall experience. A quick pro tip: if you're planning to stop by during popular after-work hours, definitely make a reservation--it fills up for good reason.
