Date: 6/26/2025 Time: 6:45 PM 65° Sunny My male companion and I are at D Monaghan's for his birthday (73 years young). It is our first time dining here. Since he treated me to a memorable dinner for my birthday exactly seven months ago, I did likewise. Our birthdays are on the 26th, but different months (June, November). We arrive and a waiter tells us to take a seat anywhere in the restaurant. I was expecting a maitre'd or a host to escort us since my companion made reservations for dinner at 7 PM. Dining at any restaurant for the first time means I usually order an Arnold Palmer to determine whether the food is going to be tasty and delicious. The Arnold Palmer has a nice balance of lemonade and iced tea. Did the Arnold Palmer pass the test? Yes, it did (4 stars)! Eats: Starter is a beet salad consisting of spring mix greens, diced beets, thinly sliced orange, candied walnuts, diced goat cheese topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. (4 stars). I'm not even a goat cheese fan. LOL. Next up was salmon (me) and steak (birthday guy). Salmon was topped with a wine glaze and served with roasted potatoes and seasoned vegetables. Salmon was fresh and moist. Meal was on point (4 stars). Steak was a NY steak also served with the same sides. The steak was well seasoned, but it had a chewy texture...ugh gristles. My man said the steak was the wrong cut. He also felt that the sauce should have been Lea & Perrins worcestershire sauce instead of A1 sauce. (3 stars). We passed up on dessert. The description of the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream probably would have been delicious, but I was full. Service could have been better. Waiter had a nonchalant demeanor, and an average degree of attentiveness (3 stars). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is casual and comfy. We had window seats looking out to the outdoor patio. (3.5 stars).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Inasmuch as I would like to have given D Monaghan's a 4 star rating, and there is no 3.5 star ratings on yelp, I had a choice of either rounding up or rounding down. In this case, I rounded it down to a three stars. In comparison to other dining venues such as Parche (uptown Oakland), Alley & Vine (Alameda), Willows & Pine (Dimond District), Angelina's Louisiana Kitchen (Berkeley), Coqueta (SF) and The Waterfront Restaurant (SF), D Monaghan's left me a certain level to be desired. Also, street parking was problematic and there was no parking spaces in their lot. By luck, my man found a parking space 1/2 a block away after searching around the corner. (2.5 stars) Future visit? Might then might not.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]An extremely nice atmosphere and a very attractive menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Location is in the cut, but this makes it more appealing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is separate from the dining area which is nice though I would've enjoyed hearing the music they were playing in the dining area but I understand[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place for couples and first dates. Or hanging out with the guys.girlfriends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Let's just say ....me and my girls popped in for a quick sippy sip. Little did we know we were in Raider Nation (hell yeah) and were around some hella cool people! Let me break it down...........!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking for flavor, vibes, and a whole lot of Raider Nation spirit, D Monaghan's On the Hill is the spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I stopped in and ordered the street corn ribs--and let me tell you, they were delicious, juicy, and packed with smoky goodness. A total flavor bomb. But the real MVP of the night? Tracy the bartender. She was super sweet, attentive, and brought such a warm energy to the space. Not to mention--cute as hell! She made the whole experience feel personal and fun. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The crowd was everything you'd want from an Oakland hangout: friendly, lively, and pulsing with Raider pride.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] TVs everywhere, good music, and a laid-back lounge vibe that makes you want to stay a while. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space itself has that perfect blend of neighborhood bar meets game-day lounge--cozy enough to feel familiar, but buzzing with energy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lighting is warm, the seating is comfortable, and the walls are decked out with sports memorabilia that gives it real character.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the menu? Loaded. From wings to sliders to creative twists like those corn ribs, there's something for every craving. You won't leave hungry--or bored. Grab a French 75 - you will not regret it!

We went here for a Thursday Night Football game. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, I was happy there were plenty of 49ers fans.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That's enough for 2 stars out of the gate. Lol [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not a big sports bar. It seemed to be more a local spot - comfortable, cozy, and relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It could use an update in the furniture and A/V equipment, but we had a good time nonetheless.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar area was a little crowded, and it took a while to get our drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But, the bartenders and wait staff were friendly and patient. The wings were good. I only wish people cooked them longer. They weren't raw, but I like mine more well done and wasn't around when we ordered. My bad !!! This is definitely a spot I would recommend and return to. My next visit, though, would be a normal Friday or Saturday night. It, maybe a Sunday to see how they handle games then. Until next time ......

Celebrated our anniversary dinner here. We shared a Caesar salad. Hubby had the fried catfish, broccoli and mashed potatoes. Washed it down with lemonade. I had the chicken masala, mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. Had a Guinness which I hadn't had in a longggg time. We enjoyed our hot entrees and even had enough for lunch the next day. Desserts? We opted to pass as we were full to the hilt. We'll be back soon to try out something else. Yummilicious Private parking park & off-street parking.

Attended this black owned fine establishment to celebrate the owners birthday. We enjoyed margaritas, shots of tequila and modeloes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The DJ was excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Several different entertainment areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to watch sports too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Never knew this place was here even tho I been next door at round table a million times. Had drinks and late lunch with my friend and really enjoyed the environment. I liked the catfish more than the pork chops, but both were good. We got there during happy hour so it got busy pretty fast. The bartender was sweet and attentive. I will return to try other items on the menu

Stopped by D Monaghan's right after work to check it out. I've always been curious about this place and when I discovered it was Black-owned, I made sure I went. I love the location, the ambiance is amazing, the decor is nice. I sat outside and the weather was perfect, so was the patio vibe. The service was excellent, my server was attentive but not pushy. The food was just incredible. The Buffalo Cauliflower was extremely flavorful, that great buffalo wing spice with a perfectly cooked cauliflower texture. The mojito was good as well. Let's just say a very generous portion of alcohol with the minty flavor was right on point. Though I only ordered an appetizer and drink, it was enough to make me want to return. I will be back for a full meal and cannot wait.

What a treat…read more.. Hadn't been to the location since it was Guaymas - what a transition. Same beautiful views, upscale interior that goes with the casual like atmosphere. Outside seating was relaxing and the views complimented the evening. Nice to see staff members with smiles on their faces, don't always see that at a restaurant! Fharid was the server, ever attentive, but just enough! What's important...the food! Romaine Caesar Salad - just enough of the flavorful dressing to compliment the salad. Roasted Half Chicken - tender and absolutely delicious. Portions were very filling. A wonderful homemade peach mint chutney enhanced the flavor option if you so wished. I love chutney, wished I could buy a bottle to take home! Dark Chocolate Cake - words can't describe how good it was! Dark chocolate cake, sour cherries, fresh whipped cream - a piece of chocolate art. Hated to destroy the dessert, but I did! It was decided I should meet the baker. She came out and I thanked her again for the beautiful and flavorful surprise. The Bungalow Kitchen: Great evening, wonderful food, atmosphere is superb, lucky to live nearby.

WARNING! As of June 2026, this is no longer a Michael Mina…read morerestaurant. The view is amazing! The decor is comfortable with lots of light. All of the employees are helpful and pleasant. The Manager Peter really appears to be on point. My dry aged bone in New York strip had real dry aged flavor. It was a little under seasoned and with no salt and pepper on the table I just ate it. My GF really enjoyed her filet. The one thing we both said was that both of our mains and both of our sides were served on the cool side. They were at the temperature that most meals are at when we are at the end. The corn side was served on the cob; ridiculous. JUST DON'T! The menu is small. All of the employees were instructed to tell EVERYONE that they just added 12 new items to the menu. Which means that they threw out Michael Mina's menu and replaced it with their own. Was this a nice night out? Yes Was this a great meal? No Is this a destination restaurant? No If I was in the neighborhood would I go there again? Yes definitely. Valet parking is $15. Can you find nearby parking and walk? Sure. Corkage fee $45.

The bites are generally really good too, though I wasn't a huge fan of the chili cucumbers. Try the Tomato Beef cocktail-- it's really yummy! The Li Hing Ramos is a good go-to if you like egg white drinks, and the seasonal milk punch has always been good. The ambiance is very cool, not bright inside, but bright colors, very hip. Such a beautiful interior space vibrant in celebration for AAPI Heritage month, and a super fun cocktail menu that was the perfect post-meal moment (both photo-worthy and tastebuds approved). We also noticed they have a cool food menu too filled with yummy and innovative dishes like Cheesy Char Siu Tots, Szechuan Salt & Pepper Wings, Korean Fried Mapo Tofu, BBQ Char Siu Ribs, and more. They also have nice swag ~ we took home a hat that resembled a Kirkland hat that spelled out "Oakland Viridian" (IYKYK). Drink-wise we ordered the Soy Sauce Old Fashioned and the Café Sua Daddy, which essentially is an espresso martini with a fun twist with black sesame and an egg cream foam. Both drinks were outstanding and presentation was beyond..I wished we could have stayed for round two, but duty calls! Ride-share and or BART suggested in this area, it's just a bit congested downtown to park. Service was fun, prices fair for the whole experience. Loved it!
