Off Leash changed our lives. I couldn't imagine what my German Shepherd's quality of life would have been had we not found Off Leash. We got Chief as a puppy in the summer of 2013. Puppies grow very fast and in the blink of an eye, I had an 11 month old monster of a dog with me. He was a sweet dog but did not know his strength and I did not know how to handle all of that. We learned that the success of the dog doesn't fall on the dog, it falls on the owners. We were told what our expectations were as the owners and the responsibilities we had to ensure our boy was a success. You have to know your dog and what they're capable of IF they do not get the appropriate training. We had looked at other trainers but nothing compared to OLK9, nothing. No other trainers gave you a guarantee for the life of the dog, no questions asked, no extra charge. The equipment, life time warrenty (for the life of the dog) as well. I had to use it because I failed, got a bit lazy and my dog regressed a bit. 100% my fault. His trainer took him back for a very short period and gave him back to me, with a smile, with no demands other than to treat this training as an investment. And we did. Our boy was big and powerful. At times, intimidating to look at, but he was always in control, we always had control of the situation and never had an issue w/ another dog becasue we (the entire family and our boy) were trained to be proactive and not reactive. Chief could have been a very dangerous dog had we not gotten the correct training because I would not have known how to handle him. You know what happens to dogs that are aggressive or bite, they can get put down. It's almost always preventable and there was no way we would have let him get to that point. We had to get him the best we could find. Our boy loved when he got to see his trainer on special occassion - if we needed to board him for a vacation or just a weekend get away. I just had to say his name and Chief's ears perked up and he'd run to the window looking for him. We only had him for 7.5 short years but they were the best years of our lives. He gave us no issues and that was 100% due to his training from OLK9. We miss him very much but know that when the time comes again for us to bring in another pup into our home, the only place we're going to have him trained is with Off Leash K9. Tom - can't say enough about your relationship with Chief. I miss seeing how happy and excited he'd be when you show up. Thank you and Momma Melissa for the love you always gave him!!

It's been approximately 1 year since my 8 month old GSD finished her Top Dog program with Megan and Tom. This is the second dog that the company has trained for me and If I could give them more stars, I certainly would. I have 15+ years in federal LE and special operations, and have worked with a good amount of working dogs with different skill sets in a tactical environment. Megan and Tom came highly recommended by other customers of the company and they are absolutely phenomenal. Trusting someone with your fur child is a big deal, and they really made me feel at ease while I was gone overseas during my pup's training. There's a lot of schools out there, but Off Leash K9 has a reputation of professionalism and a love for animals throughout the country. Some of the courses might seem expensive, but you are investing in your animal which will relieve stress on both of you in the future. It's amazing when dogs do what they're told to do and know their place in their home.

We couldn't recommend Off Leash K9 training and Destiny the trainer enough! Destiny worked with our 1.5-year-old chocolate labrador Ollie who was difficult to walk because he pulled on his leash. He had no door manners, jumping on guests in our home, and trying to run out the door when it was open. Overall, he responded to all distractions, and he was difficult to contain out of the house. Not only did Destiny train him to have better manners, respond, and listen to our commands. She also provided guidance during our post-training pick-up session to further his training and help get him acclimated to our home. We loved our dog before, but now we are thrilled that we have the confidence to take him anywhere, do anything, and know that we are in control of his actions and safety.

Big decision when trying to pick out a dog trainers. Luckily enough I got some info about Off Leash K9. I made my inquiries online and Tom reached out and answered all my questions. I started with 1 or 2 in person training sessions and was very impressed with the results. Those sessions ran 45 minutes and not only did my pet started learning but I started learning what I was doing wrong. Great educational experience for both of us. I was hesitant to do the 2 week board and train simple because he cost (I would be sending 2 dogs since they're siblings) but after the 2 in person sessions I decide to ask Tom if I could just sign them both up for the board and train. They were staggered in their training sessions but when I picked them up, their trainer went over everything with me that they accomplished. They always kept me in he loop on how the progression was going and I was left speechless. Couldn't believe what was seeing in he videos. It was like night and day. It's been a few years since they received their training but I've kept up with them. This type of investment you put in your dogs doesn't just last from the day you pick them up but it's up to the owner(s) to maintain the training and structure. Sure I let them do their thing at home but they know when it's time to focus they focus. Whether it's just walking around the block or going to the closest open space one in around, I still get compliments from my neighbors and random people complimenting how good they are and how focused they are on me when we are out. They can be either on or off leash and both remain focused. I HIGHLY recommend Off Leash K9 and I will definitely use them in the future.

Amazing Results!! I will recommend this company to everyone i know!! We enrolled Kona to the 14 day off leash program, Our trainer bonded with Kona as she sent us updates as she progressed. While explaining the training in detail. No Pulling, No Barking, and door manners, Kona is very Patient, comes on command and sits in PLACE. Kona Walks with confidence on Leash and even better OFF LEASH! Highly recommend OLK9 as it exceeded all our expectations. If you want a Pet and/or lifetime companion you owe it to your self to do this!!

We are very pleased with the training we are receiving for our 6 month old Lab. Tony (our trainer) is friendly, patient & very good at what he does. Our puppy is excited to learn with him. The training works as long as you work with your pet every day- not just on the days you go to the training. The staff is professional, informative and knowledgeable.

I have a 8 month old gsp named Joey and she was trained by Kara who was absolutely amazing with her! I recommend the program for 2 week board and train.

The backstory. Jackson had been in and out of a few homes by the time he came to us. He was an adult dog, 100 lbs of power with no boundaries, reactive around other dogs, pulled while on a leash...the list goes on. We spoke with Morgan at K9 Off Leash regarding their programs. Morgan took the time I needed to ask questions to determine the right program and the right trainer. My spouse and I decided on the in-person, 8 week dog aggression program with Kyonia Brooks. Kyonia has a breadth of experience ranging from shelters to veterinarian hospitals to animal control and - the point that drove home for me: police canine training. Again, Jackson is a big boy, weighing in at 100 lbs of power with no boundaries so we needed someone experienced that wouldn't be intimidated. At our first meeting with Kyonia we reviewed the program and expectations. We hit it off with Kyonia immediately. We could tell this was dog training and handler training which is what we needed to help set boundaries for Jackson. And from my research prior to calling K9, dog training is really about people training so we were in good hands. After the first session there was already a noticeable difference. Within just a few sessions, we already had a new dog and Jackson was on his way to a new and permanent home (finally!). Jackson was walking on a leash without pulling, he was social with other dogs, he was off leash at the dog park and making fur friends. This was remarkable since he was very reactive to dogs just a few weeks prior. The training was working! Again, Kyonia was teaching us so we were learning how our behavior was feeding into his negative behavior. On command, he knew how to: heel, stay, sit, come, down, down from afar, off and place. At this point, we started taking him to various stores to try him in and around crowds with plenty of distraction. He continued to heel by our side, sit, stay and down on command at one end of the aisle while we would "browse items" at the other end of the aisle without moving. (More like fake browse while side eyeing Jackson to be sure he was following command.) He would look at people as they walked by but stayed in command. Proudly, I must say that at the end of our very first store outing (big box hardware and lumber store), one of the employees came up to me to say that he was the best behaving dog that had ever been in the store. She was astonished this was his first outing. She thought for sure we were training him to be as a service dog. I responded, no just a good dog. ;) Soon after, Jackson was walking off leash. This was not our goal or expectation, even though the name of the company has it in their name. #TotalBonus The goal was two fold: give Jackson boundaries and have him become the dog that matched our lifestyle & teach us how to set the boundaries while instilling him with his own confidence. Goal accomplished! Friends and family all commented on a totally different dog. We love Off Leash K9. We rescued "Xena" Princess, a Belgian Malanois Sherpard mix when she was 2 1/2 yrs. old. She had No training and very anxious and frightened from her past. Kyonia Brooks from Off Leach K9 Training came to our home and within a few training sessions, our Rescue Dog. "Xena" now became secure, obedient, a great walker and follows all commands. She is loving, good around our friends and family visiting now. She adores her new home and we adore her. Of course, we also needed training, as her parents, which Kyonia did a wonderful job with us as well. We got out pup a month an a half ago. Before us getting him he was confined to just a small apartment with little interaction with the outside world. We've only gone to two of our training sessions with David. Mookie, as in Betts, has been doing great! He picks up on the commands good. With reinforcement at home of course. We're still working on getting him not to be so distracted and reactive. But I'd say for only two sessions he's doing pretty well. I'll definitely come back to update once he's completed his therapy dog training. read more

I scheduled training with this company and waited about a week for the first appointment. They were great in sending emails about the upcoming appointment/class, however the day of my first session they were extremely late and working with another client. The trainer did not acknowledge me or my dog. When I departed, she said aren't you my 10am? I asked to reschedule and instead of rescheduling I received a disturbing email from the manager and owner with a refund. Don't recommend this company at all. -Joe Woods read more

A friend recommended this company to us. We got a new dog, was having a lot of problems with her, my wife contacted this company. I was ready to give up on the dog, this company worked with the dog for a while, the dog is amazing now, she listens to commands, does not run off or chase after other dogs when she is off her lease. It was well worth the investment. read more

Our family got a husky mix a year ago, he has been running our house ever since, I was so frustrated and felt out of control all the time, it wasn't enjoyable having him, which I had to do something quick! I gave off leash k9 training a call and I am so grateful I did. After just 1 lesson I was amazed!! Worth the price of 4 lessons in just that one hour!! I took some time to decide if I could afford to have my fur baby Lola professionally trained by OLK9 and after watching the many videos that are on-line I decided to pay for the 2 week "Community K9 Board and Train." I was so impressed from the start, from Janessa's great customer service, to my dog;s trainer (Danielle). I received daily progress reports that not only included a write up, but pictures and videos of my dog Lola's progress. I was blown away by Lola's daily progress. I trained Lola with a few basic commands, like sit and place, however; it was hit n miss at times. I couldn't for the life of me get Lola to lay down, and I was so surprised that Danielle had Lola laying down (Down command) within the first few days. With all this being said, when I met with Danielle after the 2 week training period at a local Lowe's department store, I was truly amazed what my best friend Lola had become. That being a highly trained pup that sat and laid down on command, but also stayed in place until she receive the "Break" command. We walked through the store with me in command of Lola both on and off leash.....all this with customers walking by and Lola stayed right by my side. I stopped many times and gave Lola the sit and down command and she obeyed the commands each and every time. We also went to the wood section where I gave Lola the "Place" command, and she jumped right up and sat and laid down immediately upon command and stayed in the down position even with customers walking by with big carts, etc. Then, upon receiving the "Break" command, Lola came directly to me, at which time I gave her the belly rubs that she loves and deserved. We then said our good-bye's to Danielle and thanked her. It was actually tough to not shed a little tear with how happy that I was. Immediately after leaving the Lowe's parking lot, we went to both Pet Smart and Stater Brothers grocery store, which I brought Lola in with me to both stores. She did so great and I was such a proud doggie papa. So, in ending, I want to say if you are thinking about getting your fur baby professionally trained, you will be so very glad that you did after having OLK9 spend 2-3 weeks with your best friend. Truly grateful!!! read more

We hired Off Leash K9 Training for our "spirited" 8mo old shepherd blend, Kona. Our trainer, David was incredible! He worked patiently with her until she mastered all the skills necessary to make her a well mannered dog. When we picked her up, David spent all the time we needed to help us learn the training commands so we could continue working with Kona. I'm still in early days with Off Leash. So far Kionia the trainer has been excellent. I have dog that had been adopted and returned a few times. Kionia has already improved his behavior and I can't wait to see what he'll be doing next. The best part is the bond I'm forming with him as we go through the learning process together. Your company came highly recommended from a friend of ours who had his Border Collie trained by you. While exploring Utah we kept commenting on how well his dog behaved off leash in the desert. We wanted to feel confident we could have our dog off leash in remote back country or rural areas but also calm and at heel when we travel in high populated and high stimulus areas. We had the most amazing experience with Off Leash K9 Training! We got a Golden Doodle puppy (Skye) to be an adventure partner for our son during our off road and camping adventures. Our biggest fear was that she would try to run off while we were in the of nowhere, so we sought out some training for her when she was just 7 months old. We found Off Leash K9 and signed up for their "adventure package," which consisted of a 1 week board and train that teaches the dog all of the commands and disciplines needed for our adventures and our lifestyle. Our trainer was Justin, and he met with us on the first day to understand Skye's strengths and weaknesses, and to understand our expectations and educate us on how the process works. He put my wife's concerns at ease immediately, and it was very apparent that he is an animal lover and that she was in good hands. We received daily texts and/or video updates from Justin throughout the week, and we were so blown away with how quickly she caught on and was learning. She did so well, that Justin even spent some time teaching her a few things that weren't part of the package that we purchased. At the end of the week, Justin came to our home and spent 2 hours with us, showing us everything that Skye learned and teaching us how to use the commands and to reinforce things with her. In the end, she is like a completely different dog, but is the same dog also. It's hard to explain, but she is extremely disciplined and obedient, while still being her usual quirky and energetic self. She sits, stays, comes, heels, and respects physical boundaries (like doorways, curbs, the edge of the yard, etc.). My wife's favorite command is "place," in which Skye will jump onto whatever object you point at, and will stay there until you tell her to break. This was the best investment in our pet that we've ever made, and I won't hesitate even for one second to send our next dog to Off Leash K9 again! read more

Tom McGovern is a 12 year Marine Corps combat veteran. After years of working friends and families dogs while active duty he decided to leave the Marine Corps to pursue his passion and begin a career in dog training. I sincerely hope no pet owner ever has to experience what I went through at this hospital…read more My dog had been bitten by a much larger dog that left significant wounds, I was worried to death as any pet owner when their fur babies are sick. I felt like instead of finding compassion, and ethical emergency medicine, I had walked into a high-pressure sales campaign. The moment I declined a $650 X-ray, the pressure campaign intensified which went on for more than an hour. One by one, staff members, veterinarians, and finally the hospital director/owner all took turns hard-selling me on authorizing the X-ray which seemed to be used as a precursor to push for more unnecessary expensive diagnostics. After the 4th round of relentless argumentation and persuasion, I requested the 4th staff member to not get any more people to come and talk to me about X-rays, against my clear request, they still sent out the "heavy weight" director/owner as the marathon finisher to pressure me. Finally, I said to the director: "I am his owner, I am an adult, I have the right to make decisions for my pet's care." That should have ended the conversation, but the director even went on so far to tell me that if I left with my dog without X-ray, he could "lose his license" and that I could "sue him." I told him, "I guarantee you I won't sue you," and offered to sign a disclaimer accepting full responsibility for my decision and to release the hospital from any legal responsibility. The director then turned to his staff, shouted "Transfer!!" as if he's the one with all power to override my decision regarding the treatment of my pet. I said "Wait a second, do I get a say in what I want to do regarding the medical treatment of my dog?" It was met with silence. After 5 rounds of marathon campaign with no success, they finally left me alone. The point was not the ridiculous excuses that if the director/owner granted my wish to let me and my dog leave the hospital without doing the $650 X-ray "he will lose his license" or that I will "sue him," but doing an X ray can be used as a powerful and convincing tool for the hospital to frighten pet owners even more to push for THOUSANDS $$$$ more in expensive and unnecessary diagnostics and treatments. Dr. Randy Posada even went as far as telling me to "be prepared for end of life" arrangement for my dog because I refused their pressure to authorize the X-ray they tried so hard to sell. As for the offer to perform the radiographs at no charge mentioned in the Dr. Michael Hyder's reply below, I specifically asked Dr. Posada who was the attending vet to my dog about it. He explained that the "free" offer applies only to taking the radiographs. The interpretation and analysis of those radiographs would still cost approximately $600. In other words, while the imaging itself may be advertised as free, obtaining the diagnostic information that gives the radiographs any clinical value still carries a substantial fee. The complimentary snacks, bottled water, coffee, and tea displayed in the waiting room mean absolutely nothing. They create the appearance of a caring hospital while terrified pet owners are being scared and pressured into authorizing thousands of dollars in diagnostics during the most vulnerable moments of their lives. I left feeling disheartened and disgusted by the cold calculation, manipulation, and coercion. I would never return, and I would never recommend this hospital to any pet owner. If you go because it's after business hours and no regular pet hospitals are open, be prepared to be pressured into accepting a $650 X-ray and $600 blood test even for a dog sneeze. UPDATE: Reply to Director/owner Dr. Michael Hyder Dear Dr. Hyder, I disagree with your characterization of the events surrounding Mickey's visit. Your letter states that veterinarians must be able to communicate their concerns, risks, recommendations, and limitations so that clients can make informed decisions. I fully agree. At no point did I refuse to hear Dr. Posada or your recommendations. I listened, asked what information the radiographs were expected to provide, and how the findings would specifically alter Mickey's treatment plan. Despite asking multiple times how the results would affect Mickey's treatment specifically, I never received a direct answer. That is the information necessary for informed consent. You also told me that if I declined the radiographs, you or the hospital could lose your veterinary license and that I could later sue you. I ask that you identify the medical, legal, or professional basis for those representations. Is it VEG's policy to advise clients that a veterinarian's license is jeopardized whenever an owner declines a recommended diagnostic test? If not, what basis did you make those representations to me?

She was too upset to setup the arrangements on her own, so I assisted by searching where this could be done in her area. I decided to come here as it was the nearest provider to her. When I spoke to them on the phone to make the appointment, they were so kind and helpful. They were able to convey their condolences on the phone and not at one point did they treat me like another transaction. An appointment was made for a couple weeks later. When I drove out to my mom's to be there for her, we walked into this veterinary office and the woman who was working at the reception desk was so nice and welcoming and treated my mom with so much love. I wish I recalled her name. After just a few minutes, we were assigned an examination room. Keely, a veterinary assistant, briefed us and shared her condolences. She obviously has compassion for animals, but she was able to professionally and genuinely console my mother, who may have not been able to articulate it at the time, but was so grateful for her role that day. Lastly, Dr. Fenn was a godsend that day. In addition to being compassionate in his own right, I commend his ability to explain the steps of the procedure in a clear and concise way, in a situation were one's headspace would not allow them to comprehend anything. My mom was unable to stay for the entire process but was given the opportunity to say goodbye. I opted to stay so her beloved cat would not have to pass without a familiar face. I am so grateful to the entire team for taking such good care of us. If I didn't live in Long Beach, I would, without a question, bring my handsome husky malamute fur child to have Dr. Fenn be his primary care provider. If you live in the Coachella Valley, this needs to be your vet office. I cannot imagine a better one in all of Riverside County.

We did the 2 week board and train for our 10mo old pug/poodle mix. She was a runner, had zero recall, chewed furniture, basically had no manners. From the very first call to Morgan to the handover at the end from David, my experience was exceptional! Morgan is so helpful, she didn't try to "over sell" she answered all my questions with such a quick response time. David is a miracle worker. I especially enjoyed the daily updates of her progress. The handover process is thorough and informative. David takes his time with each step to make sure you feel confident and equipped to handle you trained furbaby. I'm only on day 2 of having my girl home and she is doing amazing things. She now comes when called, heals perfectly, places wherever I tell her and the biggest transformation is when I took her to a wide open space (no fences) to run and play, she returned back to me whenever I called her back. We can't believe what trainer Sage Eastman has been able to accomplish with our five month old cockapoo, Jimmy Chew, in less than two weeks ! I have posted all of her videos to Facebook and my friends are amazed too ! Jimmy is really smart but is still a baby who likes to bite or chew everything. Seeing him now, my husband suggested we now call him Gentleman Jim ! his two week board and train is almost over and we are eager to spend the two hours we will be trained with him before Jimmy is excused ! I brought my 4 month old German Shepherd, Gretel to Off Leashes K9. She was a rowdy, uncontrollable puppy. David was her trainer. Getting to know Janine and working with her has been super easy. I listed in detail all of the behavior issues that I have with Skipper but mostly it's the constant barking. Lord have mercy on my ears. The first visit is an assessment, explanation of how your dog thinks and how they understand you, and for us; some basics to start getting *operation no more barking* underway. Janine is very thorough so you understand both human and dog points of view. I really like this comprehensive approach. She trains you to train your dog so that your pet can thrive. Janine is not a cookie cutter style dog trainer. She is adaptive in finding what works best for you and your pooch. This is just the hands on learning Skipper and I needed.
