Horrible experience!! Do not recommend at all! We got there around 1 am and understandably there was a wait because there were a few patients. However after FOUR HOURS and two other patients just leaving due to the wait, we also decided to leave. The doctor was literally running around like a chicken with her head cut off . She kept saying she was going to get to us, especially because we were now her last patients being that the others just walked out. She decided to look at a procedure video instead of helping our baby that was in pain. What a joke, no real concern! We are furious! We drive from yucca valley in the middle of the night to not even be helped. They just made her more uncomfortable by taking a rectal temp, for no follow up. Just bring your loved ones elsewhere for true care,

Thanks to VEG ER Indy's feeling great!

Our daughter's 7 month old Bernadoodle Indy had us scared. We were puppy sitting and Indy came to us having been exposed to Pneumovirus at Puppy Daycare and was on an antibiotic. Instead of getting better, she had other symptoms pop up. Our regular vet, El Paseo Animal hospital didn't have an opening for two weeks and recommended we go to VEG ER for pets on San Pablo. VEG ER gets 5+ stars ***** Responsiveness - saw us immediately ***** Quality of care top notch ***** Cleanliness ***** Staff support - they went extra mile. Called Indy's Santa Monica vet for records, showed me how to administer drugs, friendly and caring Javier (tech) and Dr. Ross Massimiano treated Indy (and calmed me down). It's been 3 days of the new treatment they prescribed and I'm thrilled to share Indy is back to her joyful Zoomie self. Thank you to VEG ER. If I can trust them with my grandpuppy, you can trust them too!!!

Kiko and his vet tech... That face!

The staff is excellent, as is the communication. I was greeted the second I walked in. As a matter of fact, they even came to open the door for me & triage began immediately. I was able to be with Kiko the entire time I was there (except for xrays) up until the time he was in his kennel pending surgery, when I left. I am his petsitter, and their communication was equally fantastic with his people. I already took a bunch of refrigerator magnets to give out to friends.

Our cat, Zasu, was having an emergency, so we googled "Emergency Vet Near Me" and came to VEG ER from our home in Palm Springs. An easy drive (at 4:30AM) and easy to find. A truly amazing facility. It is set up like a giant ER. No lobby. You can be with your pet the entire time. Dr Chung and the entire staff were kind, compassionate and professional. Sadly, our Zasu had to cross the rainbow bridge. Again, such kind and compassionate care. Her passing was quiet, calm and dignified. If you are in need of an emergency vet, I can highly recommend VEG ER.

My boy Scrappy.

This is my second review of this location of VEG. It was finally time to say goodbye to my dear Scrappy, the dog that got me through the death of my husband not long ago. I'm now a 80 year old widow. Actually it was Christ Day when my husband past. Scrappy was there for me when no one else was, however, he started having really bad seizures, went blind because of cataracts and his quality of life was declining fast. I knew exactly who to call. You will never find more compassionate people than VEG. I was put in a private room with Scrappy on my lap, not a cold table. It had low lighting, soft music playing and candles and a jar of Hershey Kisses. No dog should ever go to heaven without tasting chocolate. Let me spend all the time I wanted with him. They gave me a buzzer and said to push it when I was ready. When the vet came in, she sat on the floor and gave him a sedative. about a minute later she gave him his final shot and stayed until he was gone. They let me stay with him as long as I wanted. And believe it or not, they didn't charge me a dime.

Puppies with a cough. We had to isolate .

They greeted me right away. Took care of my dogs and the bill wasn't bad at all. She didn't push unnecessary testing. It was 3 am. I am so appreciative of the DR and support staff.

This is one of the areas she had stitches.

The best animal ER hospital ever. Everyone there is so kind and they make you feel so comfortable while you're waiting with your pet. They have treated my dog so good. So happy they finally have a ER animal hospital in the desert.

Love this idea the owner has chosen to focus on PETS & PARENTS staying together the whole time. It's nerve racking in the first place taking your animals to the vet for both owner and pet. This is a heartfelt, brilliant and important way to make a traumatic experience and situation so much easier and better. So Thank You for making this happen! I just moved to the area and looking for where I can take my two doggie children lol and I definitely found my Place!

Budah is ready to go home.

I have to say this place was busy with cats, dogs and even a bird. Some walked in, carried or used a gurney. Issues of seizing, vomiting, diarrhea, limping, everything under the sun. They were packed, no one took breaks. Here your pets come first. Awesome team Thanks to everyone on staff.

Cloe under VEG's care

Words cannot describe how grateful we are to VEG and their staff. A 24-hour emergency vet is a must in the area and I'm so glad this place was here when our diabetic dog, Cloe, started having seizures. Compassion and empathy show in their care. VEG's open concept is incredible and you can stay with your pet all 24 hours if you want. You can be by right their side as they receive treatment. When available, staff can also prep a private room for you to be with your pet to provide a bit of peace & quiet with them. It's heartbreaking to see them suffer and know there's nothing you can do about it, but trust the professionals. I know not every family is as lucky, but I'm so, so thankful that we walked out of there with discharge papers. Our dog came home with us a couple days later. As expected, the medical bills were crazy expensive and they do want you to pay for treatment upfront (once the emergency has been stabilized). We were fortunate enough to be able to do so, until our dog was well enough to go home. They do have payment plan options through the online payment portal. Lastly, Dr. Wellard and Dr. Chung are masterclass with their approach to distraught families and they truly take the time to explain the situation, bring up next steps, and wait for any questions. The empathy for patients and families is truly appreciated. Dr. Horowitz took over Cloe's case and her confidence in our dog going home was really nice to hear. We also have to note that Amanda, Levi, and Cici were exceptional staff and so kind and careful with our baby. Amie first greeted us when we got there, and she was really attentive and a helpful resource all weekend. Brittany also brought a positive energy to the end of our visit. Cloe thanks you all!!! She has since seen her regular vet specialist for follow ups, and is back to wagging her tail again, just like normal. Well, as normal as a 14 year old dog with diabetes can be. She's doing much better and it would not have been without VEG.

Definitely one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write but also an easy 5 stars to this…read moreurgent care and their staff. Yes, the building is nice, modern and clean but what really makes this place amazing is the staff that work here. I'll forever be grateful for the support and compassion they showed me during one of my hardest moments in life. Rewind: I'm actually not a local and was traveling here from out of town. I was staying in the desert for a few weeks so I brought my dog and cat down with me. In the most stressful of scenarios (traveling and being on vacation) my 13-year old cat fell ill almost immediately after we got into town. After a few days of her seeming not like herself and not eating, I brought her here to the urgent care. A few hundred dollars later and testing it was confirmed that my little one was dying (This wasn't a complete shock as she had been diagnosed with kidney disease a year before with a prognosis of only a few weeks to months to live.) You just never expect to be away from home when something like this happens.... The biggest blessing was that the doctor and techs encouraged me that I could take her home to have a couple more days to process the decision of putting her down/to see if there could be any improvements (even though it wasn't likely.) Having those extra couple days to say goodbye made the process so much more bearable and assured me that I wasn't making a rash decision... when you see your pet declining you know when it's time. I was just really grateful for how the team was so compassionate and flexible with me as I made this decision. While they were all professional, they felt like friends when I needed them most. Bringing my baby back to be euthanized on a holiday weekend was traumatic, but the team handled everything with grace and compassion. They have a special room where you get to say goodbye to your baby and it is very tranquil and lovely overall when dealing with such a tragedy. At the very minimum you would hope for a safe space when enduring something so difficult and they definitely created that....Again the team couldn't have been lovelier. They see these kinds of things every day, but they made me feel like I mattered. The whole process was expensive, but at the end of the day I would do anything for my animals so it just comes with the territory. Looking back, it was worth every penny to make an informed and educated decision and with how well everything was handled from start to finish that I'm so grateful for this team. I hope you find yourself here under less painful circumstances, but I am here to say that this is an amazing urgent care and the staff are A+.

I brought my French Bulldog, Otis, to urgent care because he had been experiencing decreased activity, weakness, and changes in behavior that were concerning to me. Upon arrival, he was panting heavily. As a French Bulldog owner, I understand that panting can be alarming, but Otis frequently becomes worked up in the car, during travel, and in unfamiliar environments, especially during extreme heat. Before my pet's history was fully discussed or I was even checked in, staff immediately focused on the panting and began discussing sedation and emergency concerns. I was initially told about a medication costing approximately $600. Later, the veterinarian explained a different medication was needed so he could examine Otis, and I agreed to those charges. After Otis was taken to the treatment area, I waited for updates. Instead of receiving information about his condition, I was approached multiple times regarding financing options and credit applications. At that point, I still had not received any explanation of what the veterinarian had found, what his physical examination showed, or what the next steps would be. Eventually I was presented with an estimate of approximately $2,000. When I asked what had been found on examination and whether the veterinarian would discuss his assessment with me, I was told that nothing could be determined without additional laboratory work and X-rays. I specifically asked if the veterinarian would return to explain his clinical impressions or provide any guidance regarding the symptoms that brought me in, and I was told no. What disappointed me most was not the estimate itself. Veterinary medicine is expensive, and diagnostic testing has value. My concern is that I left without any meaningful discussion of the problem I brought Otis in for. The visit became entirely focused on diagnostics and financing before I ever received an explanation of what the veterinarian thought might be going on. As a pet owner, I understand that a diagnosis cannot always be made without testing. However, I believe clients deserve clear communication, a discussion of examination findings, and an opportunity to understand the veterinarian's concerns before being asked to make major financial decisions. I left feeling like the primary focus was obtaining approval for diagnostics rather than helping me understand my dog's condition. After spending nearly $300, I still did not have answers regarding the symptoms that prompted the visit in the first place. I hope this feedback helps improve communication with future clients, particularly those who are scared, trying to do the right thing for their pets, and working within real financial limitations.

I arrived at 6:45 and was third in line. If paperwork is done before, it's quick. However, some options are offered without explanation. Since it's online and doesn't have explanation, I didn't select the $109 extra. I did add IV fluids, which I know helps the healing process. I also opted for sedatives, since the body heals faster when it's not in pain and rest is possible. The incision is outstanding. It's small and aligned perfectly. I'm impressed! I was told to expect a call between 1 and 3. If nobody called I was told to show up at 3. I was getting worried with no call. What if something happened? I did select DNR. I headed to pick her up, a bit anxious. I was early, but soon other people, who I saw drop their pet off in the morning, were there and hadn't received a call either. That was a relief. Whew. I waited and they slowly began to bring the pets out, after a vet came out and gave a helpful post-op care speech. At 3:45 my little one came out, looking great. It's been a couple days. She's reading well and healing great. I give high marks. I pulled one star for the worry. A call would have been so appreciated. An "out of surgery and doing well" call would have been such a relief. I was so worried that they were going to tell me something bad happened. Pricing is reasonable, staff is polite, and the place is clean. Parking is ample too.

Recently, we had to help our almost 18-year-old dachshund, Dodger, cross the Rainbow Bridge. He had been with me since I was a teenager, so we truly grew up together. He wasn't just a dog. He was family. As the last of our five-dachshund dynasty, saying goodbye marked the end of an era for our family. We were there the day he was born, and nearly two decades later, it felt like such a full-circle moment to surround him with that same love as we helped him peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge. From my very first phone call, I knew we were in the right hands. In full transparency, I wasn't my best self when Don answered, as I had been dreading making that call. Yet he met me with nothing but patience, kindness, and compassion. He answered every question without ever making me feel rushed and quickly replaced my fear with peace. His care didn't stop there. On the day of our appointment, he kept me updated on when to expect Dr. Nicole, checked in afterward, notified our primary veterinarian of Dodger's passing, and handled every detail with incredible thoughtfulness. He truly provided a white-glove experience, allowing us to focus entirely on loving Dodger instead of managing the logistics. The handwritten note we received afterward meant more to our family than he'll probably ever know. Dr. Nicole gave our family the most beautiful gift: a peaceful, love-filled goodbye at home. From the moment she arrived, her expertise and emotional intelligence were evident. She took the time to get to know Dodger and our family before anything else, allowing what could have felt like a heartbreaking appointment to instead become a meaningful celebration of his life. She thoughtfully explained every step, intuitively meeting each of us exactly where we were in our grief. She somehow knew when to speak, when to sit quietly, when to gently guide us, and when to give us space. She made sure each member of our family was truly ready before moving forward, honoring that everyone grieves differently. What impressed me most was that she never allowed the experience to feel clinical. Every detail was handled with remarkable tenderness and intention. Even something as routine as placing Dodger's catheter was done so thoughtfully and discreetly that our focus remained entirely on loving him instead of the medical process. Afterward, she lovingly swaddled him with such care and respect that it felt like she was caring for one of her own. Every interaction reflected dignity, compassion, and genuine love. As heartbreaking as that day was, Dr. Nicole gave us the incredible gift of peace, allowing us to be fully present with Dodger in his final moments and leaving us with the comfort of knowing we had given him the beautiful goodbye he deserved. Thank you, Dr. Nicole, Don, and the Serene Passages team for treating not only Dodger, but our entire family, with such dignity, compassion, and love. When I got back to the car it said it was 110 degrees. The initially polite cashier who later claimed on the phone to also be the manager recommends you go to Aldi with your pet in tow as "theirs are really nice." If that's the case, he needs to work on his soft skills or at the very least have signage that indicates there is no public bathroom as policy. I remember the Palm Springs location associate once said to me they recommend TJ Maxx's bathroom next door. He acted the same way like it was a bro tip. So this seems to be a pattern and I'm not sure how these other corporations feel about being the rest stop for a neighbor. I drove to Petsmart down the street and used their restroom with no issue with my dog, bought something I didn't really need, and donated $2 to their charity of the day. Kinda felt more like a bathroom fee but good karma or dogma comes back around. When you gotta go....you gotta go.
