If you are reading this get in your car and got to this establishment! This is one of those must visit often places!!! Trust me the dining area atmosphere even the building are not appealing. SO WHAT!!! The owner is a pit master!!! The food here is unbelievable and you will be blown away. We only wanted a wick hot dog but my coworker got the pulled pork dog. He was in heaven and the pork on top was huge!!! I got a Chili dog and it was fabulous. They use a hearty beef dog and super soft fresh rolls. The chef gave us a sample of his brisket and dude! Wow!!! Trust me this man know his stuff. The counter girl was a doll and she did a fantastic job. Eat here and eat here often. One word...YUMMERS! Everyone is right...it is off the beaten path and a hole in the wall, but that is my kind of place. I got the ribbon fries, plain, the South Carolina dog, a cheeseburger, and fried mushrooms w/ spicey ranch. I took it to go and it even traveled well. I tried everything and everything was on point! One of the owners even offered me a sample of brisket and that did not disappoint! THE CRUST!!! Can't wait to take my son there for some brisket because he loves it! This is a family owned out of the way place which is right up my alley. The wife and I got several things and there were some definite winners. The spicy Italian beef was very good with great flavor and super soft bun. The loaded fries were cooked to perfection. Somebody knows how to work a deep fryer. A good fry can be hard to come by. Absolutely delicious brisket! We went in and were told it was a Tuesday/Saturday brisket day and it did not disappoint. We also tried the fried pickles and mushrooms which were perfect. The coleslaw was a hit and the kids sliders were perfect. I didn't get a photograph of the brisket as I gobbled it down! Cute little spot, very kind owners and amazing food. The only thing I didn't like about Off Road was that I wasn't able to get back for a second time while we were in town! The food was amazing -- the kind that makes you wish you had more than one stomach! I got the Italian Beef wet, and it was the best sandwich I have had like that since a trip to New Orleans! YUM! I should've taken pictures before we ate, but it looked so good we couldn't wait. Everything we had was delicious! We started with the Coney and Chicago dogs, which were so good we went back and ordered the Wisconsin and Off Road dogs. The pork on the Off Road was some of the best I've had! My fave was the Wisconsin with the grilled onions and peppers. Also tried the pizza puff, which was super tasty. Get the tangy dipping sauce with it! My wife and I are new to Oak Ridge and have tried everywhere from the fancy to the cheap. And while there's nothing fancy about the Off Road Diner and Dogs, it has THE best food in town!! The hot dogs are AMAZING (best Ive ever had), the hamburgers are to die for, and the Italian beef sandwich melts in your mouth. On top of the fantastic quality of the food, their prices can't be beat. Where else can you get a hot dog for as little as $3.50 and loaded up for $5??? A friend and I stopped by to try the dogs out on a recent Saturday around noon. It takes a little determination to find, being off the road and somewhat hidden among warehousing and other businesses. The place wasn't terribly crowded, but was busy enough to keep the young lady and her (I presume) mother hard at it. And I must admit, the highlight for me was watching her learn the ropes: handling orders, the register, and serving. And doing a bang-up job of it. The dogs were good, but I didn't go for anything fancy, so I can't attest to the overall quality . You can't really mess up mustard and chili on a frank. My only wish for improvement would be if they could offer some whole grain bread options. I understand why a small place can't necessarily justify that, but that would be the only thing keep me from returning more regularly, due to a diabetic diet. But for most people, it is worth going to support a family-owned business. read more

We went this Saturday mid afternoon. I was wanting a cheeseburger that was not fast food. The place is run by a local family. They were friendly and warm and welcoming. The food was exactly what I wanted and tasted like a burger I would have grilled at home. My wife's western burger and sons wings were great too. We visited our family in the Knoxville area and just had to try Off Road Diner and Dogs. Tucked away in the back of a local strip mall (persistence will pay off), we discovered this local gem of great lunch fare. This is definitely not a gussied-up steakhouse: it's a simple, family-run diner with a tasty, family-recipe driven menu. Of course, I HAD to have the Italian Beef and it was excellent overall. It had the requisites of a great Italian Beef from the Chicago area. IMO, it could have just a touch less heat, and a pinch more herb, but that is really splitting hairs- it was still a great sandwich. We also had a Chicago dog which was spot-on in its prep and ingredients. And check out how the spiral cut potatoes are handmade!! All foods are made-to-order, so you get a few minutes to relax with any of dozens of games provided for your relaxation. Being a family-run diner, the daughter has the job of bussing the tables, and she did it very well. An ancillary "job" for her is to be a willing participant for those wanting to play the games. Our grand-daughter appreciated that! With the shift of Illinois residents to these warmer areas (we personally know of many), this diner will provide these warm weather seekers a memorable eating experience. Enjoy! read more

Found this place on Yelp and the sandwich options sounded delicious. I ordered the Spicy Beef sandwich "normal style". It was exactly what I wanted. The right amount of spice with the proper amount of au jus with a pop of tartness from the giardiniera peppers and veggies. The owner let me sample their brisket which was quite flavorful and not dry like so many I've had before. Will definitely be back. read more

Ate there today for the first time and the Italian Beef was amazing. They have take and bake deep pizzas for now but the owner said they are getting ovens installed by February to cook them there also. They even sell the pans to bake the pizza in just and case you don't have one. Definitely going to be making this place a regular goto. read more

I was served two of the most pathetic excuses for hot dogs I've ever seen. The dogs were cold, skinny, cheap, stale, void of any flavor, and down right repulsive. City of Chicago should sue them for defamation of its reputation. No way this joint would last two weeks in Chicago. The entire business model of Chicago's Own seems to be "take a premade item from the freezer, and put it in the microwave." A neighbor recommended we go here for the Italian beef and pulled pork platter. Being from Chicago I was going to be skeptical. Let me tell you, this is the closest you're going to get in East Tennessee to a true Italian beef/w mild giardiniera. The bread is not Gonnella, but it is close. The pulled pork platter was very good also, moist, the right amount of bark, the sauce was just right not too sweet. The owners are very friendly and want your comments.
