We stopped by Ruby & Family Diner for the first time on a rainy Sunday around 10:30 a.m.--and it definitely won't be our last visit! At first, we were a little hesitant since the place was empty, but the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm smile and friendly welcome that instantly made us feel comfortable. The service was great--attentive without being overbearing--and the food was exactly what you'd expect from a classic diner: hearty, comforting, and delicious. Everything came out hot, tasted fresh, and best of all, the prices were unbelievably inexpensive. The place has that "down home" feeling, but it looked a little dirty. The scrambled eggs were good. The pancake and sausage were obviously overcooked if not burnt. After the server brought my food, she only came back once. The price point is a little high for the quality offered. read more

Sweet little local diner, good food, reasonable prices and kind owners that run the diner.

It was the first time there, and what a great spot for so.e really great diner food. We were yold to seat ourselves, and very shortly there after our waitress gave us our menues and got our coffee order. She was super attentive, and seemingly, in 5 minutes, our orders came out and were delicious. Inside, it was typical for a small local diner, but it was also very clean and cheerful. Great prices, great food, great service. They did a great job, and from the number of people there, we weren't the only ones to think so!!. read more

My family and I decided to give this place a try after church one Sunday. They offer classic Southern American food. No frills here, just good eating. Paper menus and disposable plates and cutlery here which isn't a problem for me! My wife had the meatloaf with fried okra and green beans. I had pork chops with fried okra and mac and cheese. Both plates come with a choice of cornbread or dinner roll. We both were very pleased with our meals. My only complaint was that the dinner roll was a little dry and the mac and cheese was lacking a little seasoning. But other than that, everything else was great! The waitress was very kind and accommodating and the dining area was quaint and very clean. Lastly, the prices are very affordable. You can definitely have a nice meal here for $10 or less. read more

Would never have known this was here! We were driving through town and passed the signs in the window, ended up going for breakfast the next morning. The pancake was HUGE and delicious! It's a comfortable, down home breakfast. Grits were solid and everything tasted fresh. The gravy was a little disappointing, pretty bland, but we enjoyed everything else. read more

I really wanted to have a good review of this place! We had several people suggest it to us and we kept seeing Ruby on the Facebook page, and she is adorable. However, we ordered lunch for the office today and had it delivered, and we were ALL seriously let down. Our expectations of "homestyle" cooking were quickly deflated after opening the to-go containers to meatloaf that was hardly recognizable and vegetables that obviously came from cans. As I said, the meatloaf did not hold together at all and was extremely greasy, without good flavor or texture. The "creamed corn" was not that at all. It was simply whole kernel corn that came from a can; the same with the green beans. While I understand that most small restaurants cannot have "fresh from the garden" vegetables, the expectation is that the canned goods get seasoned with spices or meats (such as ham or bacon) to improve the blandness. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant or from a mix with no flavor whatsoever. The best part of the meal was the fried okra. I actually enjoyed it and finished all of it. It had a really good flavor and was fried well. We called before placing our online order to ask what the "daily dessert" was and were told they did not have a dessert today because they were closed yesterday (Monday). While I understand small business are just that...small, and reviews like this certainly don't help, but if you are going into the restaurant business, the quality and taste of your food should be significantly better than what we received. Ruby is a cutie and a great face for the restaurant, but the food needs to be GREATLY improved before I would chance it again! read more

This Diner is just a great place to stop. I had biscuits (1) gravy with freshly cooked sausage, it was wonderful. I ordered pancakes (2) they are huge. I managed to eat just 1. Prices are very low, service is second to none. It's a great American Family Diner with awesome food. I wish there was restaurant as good here in Ohio. Thoughts breakfasts/brunch place that's only open until 2 would serve breakfast the whole time. However, Breakfast is only served until 11. So we ordered from lunch menu. It was adequate food and reasonable prices, but this is NOT home cooking style food. Chicken sandwich was obviously frozen processed chicken patty. Thankfully they had bbq sauce which helped the flavor. Staff was very nice and we were served quickly. Just not the wholesome, home cooking, comfort food we expected. read more
