Polite cashier, Great food - nice and hot, delivered quickly, excellent service, and the atmosphere was pleasant - nice music!

I have not eaten at Buddy's in a while, but don't remember it being this bad. The pulled pork on my sandwich was dry. Maybe that is why they slopped sauce all over it, saturated the bottom bun so it fell apart completely and you could not hold it even if you didn't mind sauce all over your hands. There was also not enough pork on the large sandwich for the bun- large bun with small sandwich amount of pork. They slopped potato salad And beans in to the box so that they slid on top of each other, and cold potato salad in a hot box equals hot potato salad - disgusting. The baked beans mostly just tasted like pork and beans from a can with a small amount of bbq sauce added. I will never make this mistake again. The food is consistently tasty with reasonable prices. The servers are friendly and patient with those of us who can't quickly make up our mind. Love that we can get sauce on the side and there is an ample amount. read more

It was fine. The texture for the beef was more rubbery than I want. The ribs were ok. The beans were good. Mac and cheese and coleslaw were fine. The bbq sauce was good. It was fast food bbq. The customer service was comparable to McDonald's. The guy never did say hi but he looked at me and turned around to wash hands before grabbing my food so that's good. read more

The business model of these places seems to be to serve very low quality meat...gristle and fat mostly, but cover it with sauce and call it BBQ. Literally had to spit the brisket out. read more

We went to the West Knoxville TN location on Kingston pike in Saturday July 20th. I love the chicken here. When we went to order they said they didn't have any chicken offered me turkey ( I don't eat pork or beef) so I ordered the Piggy turkey expecting the turkey to be like the chicken smoked and off the bone but it was a slice of lunch meat turkey. Look, the food is always great here but tbh I've had some dicey customer service interactions at this location. I had taken issue with employees not saying hi or being polite when customers walk in. Well, today I came here for a late lunch and was greeted by a bright smile and an enthusiastic, "Welcome to Buddy's! How are you doing today, sir?" The amazingly beautiful Layla took my order and thanked me for coming in. She asked me if my pulled pork dinner plate had enough meat on it and if it looked as I had anticipated. I thanked her for her outstanding customer service and shared with her that I had some very tepid customer service experiences here in recent memory. She apologized for those past experiences when she didn't have to and later on in, once I had finished eating, asked me how everything was and even took my tray. I also noticed she wiped down most of the tables in the dining room, ensuring the area was clean, organized and set for the next sit-down customer. Layla is an amazing asset to Buddy's BBQ - a genuine diamond in a customer care industry full of rusty bottle caps. The chicken sandwiches are great. Portions for the meals are a tad small but they gladly come to offer additional hush puppies, which is kind. I would like to see gloves worn and replaced each time they aren't in contact with food. This is important this day and time and it's sad when they don't. Workers sometimes don't look fresh and clean which is a huge issue with me. I gave a 5 star based on food taste and I try not to look at the kitchen and who is handling my food and how they handle the food. read more

Horrible experience! Not sure if it was because I went through drive-thru at 9:45, 15 min before close, but unacceptable food. I ordered a large pulled pork sandwich with extra bbq sauce, large fry, and hush puppies. Got home and sandwich was large bun with a little tiny bit of pulled pork in middle of bun and no sauce and no extra sauce in bag! Then the fries were cold and stale like sitting on counter all day. The hush puppies were hard and gross tasting, this was so bad I just threw the order away!!! Unacceptable! Very disappointing and I know Chris, the daytime manager, would not be ok with this. read more

Buddy's is good, a classic barbecue restaurant. All I've ever had is the pork sandwiches and the Hawg Back Fries, but they are both great. Some other locations in the franchise weren't the best, so this one is pretty good. Stop by for a nice barbecue sauce and good food. A good place to get dinner. Get a hot fudge sundae and you won't be disappointed! read more

Beans were bad. There is nothing special about this place. Save the $$$ place is clean. But the food is tasteless for a bbq joint. I am used to Kansas City BBQ's and this place can't hold a candle to those. Even the worst KC bbq restaurant is better than this. It is a hospitals version of BBQ, clean but bad food. read more

Outstanding! Clean and welcoming....decor slightly fast foodish but still nice. Manager waited on us at the counter, very friendly and professional...told us his favorites. I used to live in knoxville. I like the place. Moved to Nashville and the best places worth a damn are packed and usually downtown. I travel all over sputh east and Buddies is surprisingly amazing for the price. I try to grab it on my way if I'm traveling through Knox. If I remember correctly try to hit it up on Tuesdays and Thursdays for good deals. read more

This place has been pretty good in the past, but we were at the counter for 10 minutes on 10/15/2021 around 6:30 pm and noone ever waited on us. There were 5 people in the kitchen and they only waited on the drive thru. We finally gave up and went somewhere else. They didn't need our business. read more

Not what we expected. My wife and I ate here last Saturday. We've seen it featured on WBIR on Fridays. We were in the area and decided to try it. We should have done some homework first. Fast Food is not our thing and this is Fast Food BBQ. The staff was very nice and pleasant. The place was very clean. The pork sandwich was awful. Quite tasteless. Went through the drive thru around 6:30 p.m. Very few cars in the parking lot and only two cars in drive thru. I ordered a pork plate with baked beans and cold slaw. When I got home, I reached in to get a hush puppy and found no hush puppies. Has Buddy's quit serving hush puppies with their meals? My pork was swimming in thick dark sauce that taste like commercial bottled sauce. Have they quit serving their original sauce? Is this what we can expect from now on at Buddy's? Also, the meat was loaded with black burnt rind. Maybe that is why they covered it with so much dark sauce so it wouldn't be noticed. With the sauce and the black burnt rind, I ate very little of my meal. Instead, I finished my meal with peanut butter crackers and an apple which was much better. It will be a while before I decide to go back to Buddy's and then I will only order if they to back to serving hush puppies and their original sauce. read more

Buddy's is our go to restaurant for barbecue. We eat here and least twice a month. The smoked half chicken dinner is our favorite. The piece de resistance is dessert, between 2 pm and 4 pm a soft serve ice cream cone (or a bowl of soft serve) is only 50 cents. I no longer live in TN, but anytime I drive through, I stop at Buddy's. I love the lil' piggy pack (the sandwich is about the same size as a Krystal burger - perfect!) and the hushpuppies. YUM. I miss TN BBQ so much and Buddy's hits it perfect every time. read more

I'm not a big BBQ guy so I'm not sure how authentic Buddy's is. It kind of resembles a fast food take on BBQ. The restaurant looks like an Arby's from 1980. I choose the pulled BBQ chicken with hush puppies, Mac & cheese and corn on the cob. Chicken was decent but the Mac & cheese and corn were better. I love hush puppies but rarely have them so I was a bit disappointed in those. Bit too mushy. I'm sure there are better BBQ places in Knoxville but Buddy's is a good choice if you want something cheap & quick. read more

Very tasty, the sauces are flavorful. I wanted bbq in TN and was very happy with their selections and they come around when you eat in with extra hushpuppies! Nice touch. I was really surprised there weren't more people there however. read more

All Buddy's locations are consistent and tasty! This is our family's favorite BBQ, so whenever we visit Knoxville we head straight there. (I think the secret's in the sauce!) They also cater, but we usually pick up our own huge box of goodies and enjoy! read more
