This location sits directly beside an Auto Zone, but since Advance Auto advertises the free battery testing and replacement services, I choose Advance. The associate was incredibly helpful and attentive. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how he talked around the core fee and how it works. You know how you catch someone in a lie and they take detours instead of providing a straight answer? He was honest but very indirect about it. The math on the screen told me everything I needed to know. The core refund is just a wash, not a discount on the price of the battery, i.e., they added $22 to the price of the battery and then took the $22 off. Anyways, he replaced the battery very quickly and we were promptly on our way. As easy as it is to change a battery, I still hope they never stop offering this gratis service.

They had a battery in stock and I agreed to purchase. The young man was about to replace ; however a store manager would not allow him to replace. Her excuse was that due to the year and model of the vehicle that they could not replace it. It had been replaced by an Advance Auto Store employee in the past. I refused to due business there and went to another Advance Auto Parts location were it was changed without any issues. How amazing is that. The stuff in the store isn't always the cheapest in the world (comparable to Autozone, I think), but the guys here are super friendly. Fitted me for free with a headlamp bulb. Advised me about my electric outlet in the car. Altogether good experience, they were kind of busy on an evening of rain and mayhem, and still got me in and out fast, much like your Grandma.

I was an hour and a half from home and I called a few local parts stores. The people at the Car Quest on West Broad Street in Short Pump came to my car, checked to see what parts were needed, went back to the store, and came back with the part. Alan (spelling?) went out of his way to help me, by putting the part on the car for me and explaining what he did and why. This was not something that the company normally does, to my knowledge, but it was so kind. It was myself and two other young ladies (daughter and granddaughter), we were in a though situation being so far from home, but Alan and the people of Car Quest really did a good deed and went out of their way to help! I offered to pay him for fixing it right there, but he refused to take any money and I was only charged for the part. I wish I could do something to show my appreciation to Alan, so I thought writing a review would be a good idea. Thank you Alan and the managers/workers at CarQuest in Short Pump.
