She is extremely high energy and struggled with leash/dog reactivity, making walks stressful and kept us from taking her basically anywhere public. We did the 2 Week Board and Train program. After training, walks are calm, controlled and actually enjoyable now. We can take her to Downtown Woodstock and other public spots without anxiety -- it's been a TOTAL game changer for our family. OTCK9 is not just a dog trainer, they are educators. We booked the man's best friend package for our puppy at the age of 3 months. We got him back after 4 weeks and he was a new dog. Well behaved, with an impressive skill set. The trainers taught us how to maintain that level of obedience and also how to enhance it. This place is Awesome! First, something that everyone (unfortunately but understandably) has to think about, cost: IMO prices for training, boarding, and grooming at OTCK9 are very fair and affordable. They offer multiple training packages at various price ranges. Also they offer a veteran/military discount for our service members. Second, quality of services: The staff is very friendly and their knowledge and devotion to training is always apparent. The more classes I attend with my doggo it feels more like a family we're joining than simply a service I'm paying for. Moreover, the results of training in this environment were immediately noticeable from day 1. Third, safety: safety for me, my pup, and others was obviously a great concern. I have a large guardian breed (French Mastiff) and I known I was somewhat apprehensive on how she would react in an unknown environment. OTCK9 always puts an emphasis on safety, the trainers are very attentive to K9 body language and personalities, new dogs (of varying energy levels) and people were introduced gradually and any issues were addressed as they presented. As of now I would have no hesitation leaving my pup for doggy daycare or boarding with OTCK9. In conclusion, I am more than happy with my experience at Off The Chain K9. We began working with Darrel with our German Shepherd Dog Maggie primarily boarding. After she began to get ill and we lost her we took a break from having a dog. When it was time to adopt another dog we rescued "Gibbs". He is another German Shepherd but unlike Maggie, he had a rough life before he came to us. He was here about a month and we began seeing behavior that worried us. We had Maggie for 10 years and she was a well trained, very well behaved dog. One day he lashed out at someone's hand and brought a bit of blood to the surface. It wasn't really bad but enough for us to know we had to do something. We talked about it for about 30 seconds and said: "We gotta call Darrell!" We knew he had set up a full dog training school and knew it was the right thing to do help this dog. After the first meeting with Darrell, Gibbs already knew he had met someone who was "In control" and after "mom and dad's" lesson we were getting in control. It is just as just as Darrell and his staff say! TRAIN DON'T COMPLAIN. Gibbs is a totally different dog now. We still want to take more sessions, but after only 4 of them, he has greatly improved! We have learned what to do and NOT to do and Gibb has learned who is "The Pack Leader" and it isn't him. BUT, he is a happy dog! If you have a new puppy who needs training, or you need training! Before our 6 week basic training at OTC K9, We were not able to bring Mila to crowded places. She is a very sweet girl and loved to run up to say Hi to everyone. Unfortunately, a German Shepard can be intimidating and it was not always appreciated. It is a joy to take her anywhere now because she is very well mannered. My brother was holding my 3 year old son & we asked this lady in the picture if we could pet him. As she's conversating with others around She told us yes, before my son can even be put down to pet him the dog jumps up and bites his ankle, it's pierced the skin and drew bloo. this ladies reaction was rudely saying "sorry bout that" and run off with the dog. No one even tried to make sure the bite was okay, Extremely unprofessional & careless, a dog they've had for years they can't control him?? And you trust them with yours?? Sad.
