Great little spot to visit. Simple choices that are so good! Delicious coffee too. We will be back.

Fantastic atmosphere inside and excellent food. I got the British Roll and my girlfriend got the Turkey chipotle special and we LOVED our sandwiches. The chips that came with them were also amazing and the coffee as well. Highly recommend-

Checked out off the rail for the first time and was very impressed with the food and service! This is a cute little cafe in Elkhart lake that has mostly sandwiches on their menu. It is a great stop for a breakfast or lunch sandwich. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table. The staff was very friendly and answered all the questions I had. The seating is limited so if it was super busy it would be hard to find a spot but I had no issue. The food was great cafe food! The soup was absolutely amazing and my sandwich was the perfect size and tasted great. I will be back to check out more!

This place is absolutely adorable and while typically there is a wait, there wasn't one today. I felt truly magical as the woman at the front was so personable and kind. She helped me pick out the best coffee drink. My usually I order a caramel latte but today I was all about the caramel macchiato as she told me that it was even sweeter. And boy was she right. One of the best coffee orders I've ever made in my life. I will definitely be back this weekend for more. We ordered the bagel sandwich with sausage and it was able to hit the spot. We will come back for lunch and try out some more things and I'll update the review lunch recommendations. However, everything here seems to be good. The service is awesome. The people are kind and if there is a line it's well worth the wait.

Small but cute place. The food was absolutely amazing and the service excellent. I highly recommend.

Cute place that serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches, with coffee, wine, beer and pastries. Outdoor seating and indoor seating. Popular place with great service and good coffee!

I just had THE best sandwich from Off The Rail. The Caboose, so fresh and delicious, they never disappoint.

Get the Tuna Melt or the El - two best sandwiches available. The British Rail is also a hit. Great place to stop for sandwiches.

The best place for great food and a good time in Elkhart Lake. I just cannot get enough and the daily specials are incredible.

The staff are kind and timely. The food came out fast, but keep in mind that we went to breakfast/lunch during non-peak times. For breakfast, we showed up around 8am and for lunch we went around noon on a Saturday in April. This also helped with the noise level and the ambiance. It was nice and quiet for use because it wasn't busy. For breakfast we got Otto's Favorite and the breakfast burrito. Both were very good. Eggs were fluffy and the pork sausages were delicious!! The breakfast burrito was cooked perfectly and the outside was crisped to perfection. For lunch we got the Avo-Chicken melt and the Classic Pub sub fried onions. They were also equally delicious. The fries that come with both dishes are the perfect amount of crunch and pillowy potato. And the burger was cooked to perfection and pair with a very nice sauce. Overall, a great experience and would go again!

I like a light breakfast, so I got the avocado toast, which came with two poached eggs, tomato slices and arugula. It was more than enough, and with a little sprinkle of hot sauce, it was great. The side of potatoes that I ordered really hit the spot, though. The breakfast potatoes are more like steak fries: perfectly brown and crispy on the outside, and soft and mealy on the inside. The service was great and quick. They do that thing here where the servers don't write down your order, and instead they just listen to you and you hope they get it right. But my server got it right, so maybe they know what they're doing here at Otto's Restaurant at The Osthoff Resort.

I visited in December and it's not as noticeable or something that's a standout feature as it would be in the summer time. However upon arrival it looks very historic and old regal glamour. Parking is definitely old school with two small lots right in front only ... in the summertime it's probably not a big deal but wintertime it sucked. We had to park in another lot on the backside of the resort instead of in the front two lots right outside the lobby -- which made it a bit more difficult if you had heels on and had to walk a ways from the car to the hotel with the snowy icy ground. The rooms were veeeeery old school and in need of renovation. The wood didn't match -- from the dresser to the doors to the bathroom vanity. Flooring was really old and carpet was stained in many areas. Water damage on ceiling and the bed was quite stiff, not comfortable at all. Our room was very drafty which made it difficult to lounge without have a good pair of warm sweats or jacket. I wouldn't have been pleased if I was staying here for a long period, luckily my stay was just one evening. The bartender was very very nice -- she was personable and tried her best to change the channels on one of the TVs to what I wanted to watch. She was quick with the drinks and made them to my liking. The front desk staff were also very pleasant and friendly. They were quick with the check in and check out process as well. Overall I was underwhelmed with this resort. Perhaps winter is just not the time to visit as there is not much to do in the tiny town and the Christmas market that happens across the street honestly wasn't anything superb (we have several Christmas markets in the Twin Cities which are MUCH more superb to this one). Perhaps the summertime is the best time to visit to enjoy the true beauty of the surroundings which may make up for the old school regal of this resort.

If you're in an old room with a parking lot view, you'll probably think it is not worth the money. I always enjoy The Osthoff but they need to maintain their appearance. Garbage sitting in the hall for days. A sauna with an out of service sign. Little things like that are a turn off. I'm sure the resort will always be popular though.

Recently I had my new favorite, the Maple Glazed Salmon... highly recommend! My wife's meal however was a little lacking, it was a special that day, some type of shrimp risotto that was lukewarm and a little mushy, the side salad was also a wilted, not fresh. This was a let down, because I usually enjoy my meals at the Pig.... Especially the desserts! I'm going to say this was a one off, and will be back for the Honey Glazed Salmon, and of course, the desserts!

We kept changing our minds on what to eat and we decided on the brisket grilled cheese and we were not disappointed. The Gouda cheese, brisket, and mushrooms were a great flavor. Server was amazing and very accommodating. All in all a fantastic lunch. Highly recommend.
