I ended up getting the Old Fashion and the Fuego Margarita both of which were soooo gooooood! The old Fashion was made with Russels reserve 10 year Bourbon (a recognized excellent Bourbon by the experts), Cooper and Kings Brandy, Whistle PiggyBack Rye whiskey, Blackberry and Angostura bitters. This combination of components are not what you would normally see in a classical Old Fashion but man do they form an amazing and tasty Old fashion albeit a tad on the sweet side. Absolutely delicious. The Fuego Margarita is made with a blanco tequila, 21 seed cucumber, Jalapeño, lime juice, Solerno orange liquor and Agave. I have had this drink on a cruise in the past which was quite good where the secret is to balance the Jalapeño/cucumber with the liquor so it does not overpower the drink and man did they nail it. This was absolutely a must try margarita if you are a fan of the drink due to its unique components and how well they complement each other. Top shelf all day long!! Overall a great afternoon drinking excursion that I cant wait to repeat and highly recommend for anyone into Craft cocktails where the emphasis is on Craft with this bar. Two huge thumbs up! No

We went at 3 pm midweek and found they serve breakfast all day. It wasn't fantastic, but it was as good as I might expect from a Midwest "family" restaurant. It was very clean, the waitress was very friendly, it was bright and updated. The food came fast. I had eggs over easy, dry English muffin (they don't have homemade biscuits),bacon, and "American" potatoes (sliced, fried). Hubby had Wisconsin cheese omelet, hash browns, pancake, Everything arrived exactly as ordered (even the English muffin unbuttered!) The eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon partly crisp/chewy, English muffin was better than most and did come dry and the potatoes were more greasy than I'd hoped but nicely crisped and still soft-about like my husband's hash browns- but I think better. (I ate every last piece). Hubby's omelette was nicely cooked with cheese melted- but boring! Pancake was good and hash browns were nicely crisped and about what you'd expect from a family restaurant. Up to pay at register, hubby spied desert case and waitress said the peanut butter/cheesecake pie on chocolate graham crust was "really good"!!! We sat back down and and she brought it quickly with two forks:) It probably is delicious to many people, guessing it is a mixture of cool whip and cream cheese and Jif, topped with box pudding and chocolate syrup on graham cracker mix crust, but this isn't my kind of thing. Would I go again. Sure. Am I excited to go again? Not really. But it met my expectations, and I wasn't sorry we went. I'm giving 4 stars because for what it was, it was fine. While not fun, spunky, or delicious, nothing was bad, grumpy, dirty, off-tasting, poorly cooked, etc. Plus, it needs a little boost.

She's been ranting and raving about the salads and pizzas (which are now no longer on the menu). Finally, we made it today after going to Flora Fields for Mother's Day weekend. We did the wine flight of dry red wines and they all were great. Really well selected. We ordered the duck flatbread and some fries for the kiddos. Unfortunately, the food was pretty awful. The flatbread had no flavor, or as if all the ingredients just meshed together in a blender and the crust was overcooked or cooked more than once? I was looking for any kind of flavor punch but it just fell flat (pun not intended). Maybe it was previously frozen as that would explain everything. But it was topped with some microgreens to look better than frozen. Can't really mess up fries, but I guess you can when you don't change the oil they're fried in after awhile. Felt like there was a fish fry on the fries minus the fish. The service and the atmosphere were all great. I would say if you go, go for the wine and atmosphere, not the food.

We each ordered a benedict, which came as a single serving, and we shared a dish of Prime Rib, which came as two 3-4oz slices. Everything was delicious and well-prepared, and our server was great! Food: The menu offers a nice selection of starters, à la carte options, and full dinners. The ability to add a wide assortment of sides is a great way to customize a meal to fit your tastes. We started with a couple of specialty cocktails, the Whistle Stop Old Fashioned and the Hemingway Daiquiri. Both were nicely made and delicious. We do not normally order bread service, but my wife was famished, so we started with the House Special Duck Fat Parker Rolls. Wow. They were amazing. The crust was dark, crunchy, and full of flavor. They came with honey butter and a bacon jam spread. Next time I might try the Steakhouse Brisket Burger and substitute these rolls for the bun. For our meals, we ordered the Salmon à la carte with a Caesar salad and the Wagyu Short Rib dinner. The salad was nicely made with a light and flavorful dressing and good presentation. The salmon was excellent. It was melt in your mouth tender with a beautiful pan sear, which is a perfect combination. The Wagyu Short Rib was a different experience. This was my first time having this "Denver" cut of short rib. I was expecting a very luxurious, rich texture, but instead it was fairly lean and a bit dry. The outside was nicely charred and had a slightly ashen flavor, which was not unpleasant, just unexpected. On its own, the meat was a disappointment. Paired with the risotto and bordelaise, it improved considerably. Still, it is not something I would likely order again. We took our leftovers home and still had room for dessert, so we shared the Banana Bread Pudding. It was delicious, though the texture was more muffin-like than the dense, creamy style we usually prefer. The rum raisin ice cream was a very nice addition. Service: Like the rest of the service at the American Club, it was very good. The entire evening felt relaxed and well paced. Water and drinks were always attended to, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful when explaining items. My only small issue was the tone of the service. It was extremely upbeat, almost to the point of feeling a bit scripted or performative. I love enthusiastic and friendly service, but at times it did not feel entirely authentic. This is a minor criticism in what was otherwise a very good experience. Atmosphere: Like the rest of the hotel, the Wisconsin Room is full of character and charm. There is a strong sense of history in the space, especially knowing it was once the cafeteria for early immigrant workers. That adds a humbling and meaningful layer to the experience. The room was still decorated for the holidays, with tasteful greenery and ornaments. We would definitely come back for another meal.

The Horse and Plow is a great spot if you have a group or family where noise is not a bug but a feature. We came here on our second evening around 7:00 for dinner. Food: The menu has a good selection of beverages and pub-style food. There is an extensive list of whiskeys, including bourbon and rye, lots of beers, and some specialty cocktails. We settled on a draft beer and the Plum Crazy cocktail, which was super yummy. For food, they offer appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and a fish fry. There is even a Wagyu flat iron steak if you are interested in paying $75. We decided on the Double Butter Smashburger with truffle fries and the Walleye Fish Fry. The burger was good, although it could have been cooked a bit more to create more caramelized edges. The bun was good, but a bit too much bread for me, so I ate it open-faced. The truffle fries were delicious and could have been a meal in themselves. The walleye was battered and breaded with good texture, and the fish was flaky. I felt it was a bit overcooked, and the last several bites were very tough. Service: We did not have a reservation, and there were no tables available when we arrived. We took a spot at the bar, where the bartender got us an order of drinks. The service, both at the bar and at the table, was efficient but not especially friendly or outgoing. The food came out nice and hot, waters were kept full, and the check arrived promptly after the meal was finished. For those looking for a pub experience, this is a good spot. However, being at the American Club, I think I was looking for more of an elevated experience. This felt more like a place for a quick meal than somewhere I would feel compelled to return to. Atmosphere: It is a pub, and that is exactly what you get. It was very noisy at times, especially as larger groups were enjoying themselves.

Awakening has an array of espresso beverages and coffee as well as smoothies and a few baked items. My dining companion and I both opted for one of their seasonal specialty lattes. They have milk alternatives, so we were both able to get our desired almond milk for our lattes. Their espresso is pitch perfect. I can not overstate this. Seriously, one of the best lattes I have had the pleasure of consuming in the entire state of Wisconsin right here in little ol' Kohler. That alone made the drive from Milwaukee worth it. Their bites are limited to bakery sweet treats. I'm not much for sweet in the morning but was pleased to find that the grocery store where Awakening is situated has lovely savory breakfast options. As I mentioned, they are situated inside a grocery store but don't let that deter you. The grocery store itself is charming and they have a lovely dining area in the middle of the store where you can enjoy your coffee and bites. Our barista was absolutely lovely. They were the one who clued us in on the delicious breakfast bites that we could get at the adjacent deli in addition to serving up such a delicious latte. Get to it!
