The printing department is the worst! They are slow and incompetent and to top it off, they have the audacity to still be rude. Placed a print order, called to confirm my order, they said It'd be ready in a week and they'd call me. A week passes and no call. I call again, they haven't started on the order and didn't even know about it. Had to explain everything all over again. The girl complains that the order is big and will take a long time but she will call me in a couple days, when it's ready. Almost another week passes and no call. I call again, they tell me they have some of it but don't know what happened to the rest. They will call me right back. Guess what?? ... they don't call me! I wait a couple days and call a fourth time and they say oh your order is ready I guess no one called you. Lol Umm ok? ... I go pick up the order and have to wait almost 15 min just to pay. At this point I'm very frustrated and super annoyed but I'm a polite and understanding person, so I smile and hold it in. Meanwhile, the lady charging me has the insolence to lecture me about a policy that recently changed and they only accept files in PDF (which is stupid), and that she should actually charge me more (which is also stupid), goes on and on about every step she did to print the documents, and that they have soo much work since they closed the Office Max, blah blah blah.... Lady, first of all, I should be giving YOU an earful about the service and my awful experience, secondly, I don't care what you had to do to print the files! I used their Fed-Ex drop off to ship a product back using a Fed-Ex preprinted label. The people were very nice and they scanned in my label and printed out a "Customer Drop Off Confirmation Receipt". It had a tracking number, and the receipt says that I can track the package at www.fedex.com. That is UNTRUE. The tracking number they gave me is not in the FedEx system. I purchased a SquareTrade warranty on 5/26/19, and returned the the product to this Office Depot last week. They only refunded the product but not the SquareTrade warranty even though I requested. The girl said she can't. It seemed sketchy but with her vibe/attitude she was one of the last people I wanted to argue about it with. Don't waste your time here I can see why they're shutting down left and right - went to Best Buy to get my printer instead with no fuss Came in 430pm for a new printer and paper - which their own website claimed to have in stock. I even double checked and tried to perform a same-day 20 minute curbside pick up just to be sure it really was in stock. I didn't purchase it thinking I could window shop and pickup other that stuff while I was in store When I arrived I was not greeted, but I found a middle aged gentleman associate that didn't look interested in helping me so I decided to look for my own things- I found the paper I needed on my own and proceeded to look for the printer. I did a search myself and did not find it available. I hesitantly went up to The same uninterested middle-age gentleman associate and a younger woman associate speaking with each other hoping that maybe the younger woman could help me - but instead the older gentleman spoke up to help me find the printer. He Walked up and down the printer aisle and told me that this is all they had in stock - to which I replied it says on your website that this store has three and that I can do a curbside pick up today so where are those? The gentleman scanned the corresponding shelf tag and told me that there was ONE in store - I said OK great let me have that ONE to which he replied "I don't know where it is" and pointed to another random printer in front of him 500 dollars over my budget - "buy this one it's in stock" I pressed on asking if I had the curbside pick up would the printer suddenly appear, to which the gentleman had no answer. I came here on Saturday with my friend looking for a notebook of all things and I was pleasantly surprised with the level of service we received. They had plenty of associates walking around who were helping us look for specific types of folders/notebooks. I think there were at least three of them that helped us during the 15-20 minutes that we were there. I do have premise this, but saying that this was at 8PM on a Saturday night so it wasn't that busy. Everyone was very polite and friendly and checkout was a breeze. I was on the verge of writing a bad review for this particular Office Depot location a while back but I got derailed and never got around to it. This past Saturday morning I had to make an emergency run for some padded mailers and it was a breeze. I parked, I walked, 10 seconds later one of the two floor manager (they had headsets and everything) greeted me, looked me in the eyes and asked what he could help with. I said mailers and he directed me to the section that had mailers. It was simplicity at its finest. I grabbed the mailers and headed over to the cashier and she greeted me with a big smile and awesome attitude. I like that they don't push you to become a rewards member. I don't shop at Office Depot enough, so it's not really worth it for me. And they're okay with that. Flawless transaction. read more

Came here for back to school shopping and while I like that there's a dedicated parking lot, good signage to find it, and easy to spot bathrooms, I wasn't impressed with the customer service. It seems like there's a really relaxed attitude where the staff informally chat amongst themselves and tease each other (I definitely empathize but it'd be better to avoid doing so directly in front of customers). Also, when I was looking for an item the staff pointed me to the wrong spot (I had to show him where it was), at least 2 sale items were labeled with the incorrect price, and one of the items I almost bought (a pencil container) was broken. Note to self: buy cardstock and make own colored copies. I waited almost ten minutes to get ten copies. Granted the machine wasn't behaving, but I wasn't only person getting frustrated at the lack of service. At most places, there are more than one heavy duty copiers, but not this place. I was almost tempted to have them give me a stack of cardstock so I could use the self-service colored copiers; however, that is what I get for thinking. Just another retail chain estblishment that will go bankrupt in the upcoming years. Staff have poor attitudes and seem to only be concerned with "clocking in at 8:00 AM and clocking out at 4:30 PM; with 15 minutes for a break at 10:00 AM and 30 minutes for lunch at 12:15 PM". I pity the poor customers who have to come into a place like this. I came in, walked around for 30 minutes trying to locate an item and the staff had their booger fingers up their asses and noses looking at me. DON'T TRY TO CALL and ask if something is in stock. Even if it is in stock I am sure they can't find it. I called to ask for a particular item and I was put on hold for over 18 minutes with Office Depot advertising piped into my phone. If they are going to make you wait so long maybe some soothing music might help calm you down during the lengthy wait. After 18 minutes, I hung up and called back and asked to talk to the manager. This was the first time any OD personnel had asked me for the item number. He immediately looked up the number and said it was in stock. I could have driven to the store and back and gotten my own answer instead of trying to call on the phone. In the past I also have noticed a lot of workers biding their time waiting to punch the clock after their shift is over. They tend to congregate and chat when you are looking for help. Greeted when I came in, good instocks, and lines weren't crazy long. Only area I found that needed work was the floors need to be cleaned/waxed and buffed. Like how they have all their printing and photo paper all merchandised in the corner that's very easy to navigate. I usually have to go down multiple aisles in other stores. read more

Steve has changed my once bland perception of office depot as a standard, maybe on the pricier side, not-so-great-in-customer-service type of place to a very professional, updated, helpful place that offers exceptional and knowledgeable customer service as well as great deals and services that I never even knew they offered! Usually when I go to my local office depot in alhambra or just any other office supplies store in general, I feel like the employees arent very enthusiastic or helpful and seem to almost be bored of their job, But Steve helped answer everything I needed on the phone, and when I arrived at the Office Depot in alhambra (he said he was there to help out Alhambras location that day from his usual post in Pasadena) he was also standing at the door ready to greet all of the customers and provide A+ service. Immediately he greeted and offered to help, and he was very helpful, informed me of all the services that were available and applicable to me/my questions/situations that I never even knew about and that I actually find to be very beneficial, and made everything quick, easy to understand, yet thorough and professional/with a great attitude. He helped me get the same exact printer that i needed that I had actually just been semi-scammed on prior by someone else from Craigslist, and it ended up being the same price for a brand new one as the amount that I had paid for the fake one off craigslist! So in other words, it was actually very cheap at office depot for a brand new one and it was a great sale that I didnt expect (it was about $30 off, so I got the new canon mg3620 for $40 which was exactly what I paid for the used broken one on craigslist). He also signed me up for a rewards account (without trying to upsell me, I never felt like he was trying to push me to buy anything at any point, and still was able to tell me about services and deals that would be beneficial to me and that would be applicable to my particular purchases/situations) and I also ended up buying the warranty as well because of his knowledge on what the company would do for me in the case of any issue with my printer in the next 2 years. And in the end, he offered to help carry the printer onto my car, which was quite helpful because a printer is not so small for a not so big girl like me. From what I saw, other customers also seemed appreciative of his customer service as well. We came in the store to buy office chairs. We asked Ramon if he could transfer some chairs from another store to his store. He said for the price of the chairs, he could not transfer the chairs. We then asked if he could call the other store and have them hold the chairs for us. He told us that was up to the other store if the chairs could be put on hold. We then wanted to see some other chairs he had in stock but none were assemble on the floor. He refused to take them down for us. Telephoned Copy and Print department (first time using this store), the area manager provided INFERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE by not understanding customer needs (she transferred me to someone else in a different department only to be transferred back to her), she blames customer for not being specific (I asked if she had a HP design jet T 2300 printer), offers excuses and does not listen to customer (she says she is busy and when I attempt to speak, she says, let's move on" but she has plenty of time to complain to you about you). Had to go into the store to print one item (deadline and my store Temple City was out of the photo paper I needed). I spoke to the assistant manager (he spoke to her then spoke to me). The assistant manager did apologize to me, (he ought to have left it there) then informed me of corporate office payroll cutbacks and that this may be a reason why the copy and print manager is busy (what am I supposed to do about corporate office and their payroll?). Bottom line: Customer service is lacking and resolution with the management leads to excuses and vague allusions to blaming corporate office - avoid the store if you can. read more

UPDATE: Just back from a maddening shopping trip there. Virtually empty store. Looking for an item, had to interrupt 4 salesmen who were laughing it up together--soon joined by another person, = 5. One was told to show me the item--and he got as far as the head of the aisle before saying, "Down there at the end," with an airy wave of his hand. He had to dash back to the party, I guess... And no luck on the item. Well, I'm glad they were having such a good time, anyway... Thank heavens for the woman at checkout--the one competent person in the place, I think. She found the right toner cartridge for me AND found me a better coupon to use. __________________________________________ Obstacle course, or reliable place for office supplies? This branch of OD is my stop for paper (I use a LOT of paper), mostly, and a few other supplies, as they have what I want at a good price. Less $ than other places--certainly cheaper than at Staples. But--sometimes it's so aggravating trying to get the cart (assuming I can snag one) down those aisles! Piles of stuff, huge ladders; there's room for everything except the customers. Also, finding toner cartridges etc. seems overly complicated. (I get them online now, through J&R in NY.) And I think they have two carts for the entire store. Convenient rest room. Elizabeth at the print and copy center is my hero. She went above and beyond to help me process my packets of print outs in a very short amount of time. She was incredibly patient and answered my many questions about pricing, paper weight, and collating in a very helpful way. I really appreciate her willingness to provide great service and her positive attitude. 415 packets on a Friday night is no easy feat! This review is actually a couple months late but I had the best service from Amy. I believe she's the manager, but I'm not quite sure. Anyways, I was there to get a book bound for a school project. The idea I had in mind couldn't be done because it's not a typical way people bind these days but she knew what I was talking about and even mentioned how I could do it myself. Being a student at the time, I always tried to go the cheaper route, but I was worried I'd mess it up if I did it myself. We talked a bit more, then came to the conclusion that I'd be back if no other stores could do what I had originally wanted. I went to Office Max and FedEx and they all offered the same services. So of course, I ended up coming back to this store. I could have easily just got it bound at the last store that I was at, but as sappy as this may sound, she was the only one that showed empathy towards my book and I didn't deliberately shove it in anyones face to get that type of reaction. It was good to know that my book would be in great hands. To top it off, I was sitting a couple feet from the counter, patiently waiting for her to flag me over. She ends up walking it to me! She's so sweet, I wanted to hug her, but I wasn't sure if that would be awkward. She did such a wonderful job! I think I thanked her at least 10 times. Although they are more expensive than going to the Post Office, I don't mind paying the extra money just to avoid those long lines! Recently mailed a handful of Christmas gifts a few days before Christmas and my friends were able to get them within two days with their standard shipping to Hawaii!!
