Worst customer service I've experienced at an Office Depot. I regularly drop off FedEx packages at Office Depot locations all over Southern California, and my boxes are usually ready to go. Occasionally, a box may need a small strip of tape, and most employees either tape it for me at no charge or hand me the tape so I can do it myself. At this location, I didn't think twice and used the tape that was sitting out on the counter. It was not hidden, and I did not reach behind the counter. I simply used a small strip of packing tape on a standard box. As soon as Jerry saw me tape the top of the box, he said, "We charge for tape." I told him they should have a sign posted, and he just repeated, "We charge for tape." I was charged $5 for one small piece of tape. For that price, I could have bought an entire roll. The money is not the main issue; it was Jerry's attitude and lack of customer service. If the store charges for tape, that should be clearly posted, and customers should be treated with respect. Very disappointing experience. Customers are the reason businesses stay open, and this location needs to do better. read more

I bought this Epson printer at the Office Depot because of the great marketing Shaquille O'Neal did!! I used it right away back at my office and it printed the attached photos. I took it back to Office Depot and the manager said you have to run 20 prints through to clean out the heads. He said he has to do the same w his, weekly! The last time the brochure I was trying to print turned out like this. I had to get out a report to a National builder, that did not happen. I had to delay and print it from a Office Depot printer!!! DONT BUYY a EPSON ink jet. Office Depot would not replace it or give me my money back. I gave them the computer and I told them to put it where it belongs, in the trash!! I had a big job I needed done, and they gave me such reassurance that I would get it when I needed it. I needed to do some copying it was a struggle... when I was trying to use the copier with the email was just too much... I was kind of rough on the staff I wanted great service and they were like Not! So I gave each of them a grade of A-F out loud to their faces after I asked for the manager and walked out... The Goth guy was the best then Sally got a D and this other guy got an F. Well, low and behold I have to make another trip. Yesterday. I get there right before closing and the guy who got the F was really trying to help me find non-tear paper. At one point, he said come behind the counter and lets me look for it. I find what I need in 2 seconds and he said it was their private stock and they could not sell it to me without an online order. My jaw hit the floor I needed 2 sheets and they have tons of sheets. I guess I shouldn't have given this guy an "F". I asked for the manager and it was closing time he listen to my complaint and finally told this guy to give me 2 sheets... Because I have had problems at this location (Office Depot- San Pedro), I usually will chose Office Depot's competitors or a different location. Because I needed to complete my project on this date, I choose to use the Office Depot Store on Western Avenue in San Pedro, CA. Prior to arriving at the store, I spoke with Cody and Riz. I asked several questions about their scanner and how to operate the scanner. After I scanned my document, Cody advised me the recipient of the scan would need to use "special equipment" to edit the scanned document. Cody said, "this is common knowledge." Because the recipient lacks the special equipment, the scanned document had no value. Cody and Riz refused to refund my money. When I asked to speak with the Manager, Mr. Hugo Rodriguez, I was advised that Mr. Rodriguez was "at lunch" although it was 3:30 PM. No wonder this store has NO BUSINESS. Hugo the assistance manager had to do the work of the tech. 3. I had put in my computer on friday and today is Monday and still I have not heard from the tech. The store is fine until any human interaction comes into play. It is a pretty typical Office Depot with the usual office supplies, a copy center, and a few aisles of electronics. Have shopped here over the course of about 10 years and it used to be a generally acceptable and useful experience. But in the past year, service has gone downhill to the point that I'm not going back. And the problems all come down to the employees making it a bad experience. Had problems with the copy center raising prices on jobs from the quotations without reason. Went in to buy an electronic item (computer, as I recall) with ad in hand and the salesman looked at it, said, "we don't have it," turned, and walked away out the front door of the store. Cashiers have had problems over the years with keying in coupons, discounts, or rewards card information, leading to some lines, especially at back-to-school time. These things happen and I try to take them in stride, knowing that everyone has a bad day here or there. But most recently I went into the store on Thursday to buy a new computer, keyboard, and mouse. I knew what I wanted. I have researched this endlessly. I told the salesman what I wanted and he kept trying to upsell me. And he had an annoying habit of prefacing each of his predatory upselling questions with, "Do you mind if I ask...?" I did feel like it was an inquisition. And I did, indeed, mind. But I kept my cool, just in case he was inexperienced (didn't seem likely) or had some other issue that made his totally unsuitable for work in customer service (which seemed to be the case). But the questions about my purchase--the one I had already decided upon--just kept getting more and more intrusive. But, finally, after five times as long as the purchase should have taken, I got my computer and went to the cashier. But then I made the mistake of asking her to check whether the discount card I have from an association would help on the price. It wouldn't. But then I found out--after she'd entered the association number--that I couldn't get my rewards credits (the ones Office Depot had hounded me to sign up for) without her turning off and rebooting the system, which she said would take about 10 minutes. So all this may seem trifling. But when you have bad experiences spread out over the course of years and you come to never know if your experience will be good or bad, you simply choose to avoid the potential problem and go elsewhere. Buyer beware!!! Office Deport sold me a "new" computer that turned out to be a "demo" without telling me. The warranty on the "new" computer was also expired. You call lied! Don't buy from them. The assistant store manager wanted to give me a computer that was not the same value. He wouldn't give me the managers phone or the district managers phone number. I needed 300 double-sided color copies made over the weekend and called the Office Depot on Saturday night to see what their turnaround time was. I was told that if I dropped it off they could have it finished on Tuesday night. I told the employee that I needed them for Monday morning and would continue calling around. He told me to bring in the file on Sunday and tell the copy center that I'd wait for it. He said that in-store customers take priority over jobs that have been dropped off. He said it would only take 15-20 minutes. The story at the store on Sunday was quite different. "I'm going to have to override that sir," the employee told me. He said that a job of this size would need to be dropped off and that it wouldn't be finished until Tuesday night. I asked for the manager who said pretty much the same thing. Their price was also ridiculous: $0.71 per side. The whole job would cost more that $400!! The manager said he'd try to help me out on my next visit and to be sure to ask for him. No, thanks. I still needed the copies, so I walked over to the UPS Store (1379 W Park Western Dr) in the same shopping center. The employee there offered to print my copies right then and the whole job--all 300 double-sided color copies--cost less than $20! Done! If you need copies made, skip Office Depot and give the UPS Store a try. Much better service. read more

For one, this store simply sucks in customer service. I am a woman who knows her tech and the pimply faced little mall rat, who I was quizzing regarding wireless mouses, unequivocally claimed I was wrong. Leaving the store without making a purchase, I went home, did a bit of research and found out he was talking utter nonsense! Additionally, they do not offer recycling for all printer cartridges, only the ones they may potentially profit from. Speaking of which, every time I haul myself over to shop they are out of most of my printer needs. Seriously, is this any way to run a rodeo? This office depot has gone down , the personnel are rude and the service is unsatisfactory. I had a horrible experience in the print shop. After having this store put spiral bindings on my books for many years, Iman met me at the door and stated that we don't do that here. I had just had this binding job done a few days before ......so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager said that yes it could be done. This was the beginning of my problems.....Now the price was a lot more than what I paid for the same job that I had done a few days before. I told them that I would come back. I came back two days later and I heard the personnel say , "here she is". I placed my order and picked it up at the end of the day , and look at the mess they made..., The picture below shows that an extra punch hole is off the book and spiral binding could not go through the incomplete hole. Also, the plastic cover and backing is too short. I looks like a home done job that was done with a paper punch and scissors. Having this job done many times and they have done a good job, I wonder if they are telling don't come back! Don't worry, I will not. Review of printing services: Short- prices are the best in the area, and staff is mostly very very friendly and very helpful. Long - i was unsatisfied with the prices to print out an 80-page document at the fedex store (they wanted like $40 for printing with no extras). So i called office depot and was greeted by a very friendly, charming, and helpful Nick who gave me all the info i needed. I made the 2minute drive over from the fedex store. When i arrived i was greeted at the printing desk by the lovely Melissa who finished up with a customer while i waited (short wait). When she got to me, she was helpful, polite, funny and even offered several other binding options which i needed (she wasn't pushy though and talked me into a cheaper binding option because she knew it was better for my purposes). Overall, with 80 pages in black&white, spiral binding, and a front-back cover i paid $17. This was a HUGE difference from Fedex. The only reason i gave it a 4 stars is because melissa, though very helpful, was the only one at the desk and the line behind me got long. The girl who came to help melissa out was not too knowledgeable pretty rude, and just complained loudly in front of all the customers. Didn't affect my experience, but i would be giving a lower rating had i come a couple minutes later into that store :/ read more

Much like "Deborah W.", I only shop here out of absolute necessity, but I WILL NOT be returning to this store anytime soon! Let's start w/ the selection, (or lack there of), in basic office supplies.... It's sad, to say the least. And trying to maneuver through the place, (w/ a shopping cart), is next to impossible due to the clutter & chaos that seems to be "the norm" for them. But here's where I really have the problem w/ this store... I brought a total of 3 laptops, over the course of about 2 or 3 months, to be fixed by their "tech team", and not only did I have to bring 2 of them back, 3 and 4 times, to fix what they didn't do correctly the first, second and third time, but I ended up having to re-install the operating system on 2 of them, and the other one has never been the same since. On one of my visits, I actually witnessed a lady come in yelling at the tech people & manager, saying that they had her computer for well over 3 weeks, and she needed it for her trip that day, but one of the tech guys had taken it home w/ him to "fix it". What the ....??!!! I'm pretty sure that's not part of standard procedure.... So whatever you do, DON'T GET YOUR COMPUTER FIXED THERE! read more

I really want to give this Office Depot in San Pedro, CA a huge "0 Star" rating because of their lousy service, bad attitude and worst of all, their wasting my time, energy and money in doing business with them. I made a big mistake to order two boxes of HP printer cartridges on their website with a credit card payment. When I called their customer service and asked if I could change the pickup location, I was told it couldn't be changed, so I went to Office Depot in San Pedro to pick up my two HP cartridges. They were available for pickup, but their store manager Jim interrupted his staff when his staff handed me the merchandise I already paid for. Jim said he had to check something before I can get them. He questioned me why I placed my order on 7/25 and didn't pick up within two days, he said they normally cancelled the order if it's been sitting there too long, I was surprised to hear that because I'd never seen any store policy like that before. It took him 45 minutes to "check", when he finally got the result, he said to me, "This transaction was not complete, you never paid for them!" I was shocked, I told him I confirmed the transaction and my payment with their customer service department on the day before my visit, he insisted I never paid even though my credit card statement reflected a full payment. I was tired of his bad attitude and non-stop argument, I told him I wanted to call their central customer service to resolve the issue, I rushed out of the store and that "scary" manager. When I got home, I called Office Depot customer service to resolve the issue, I was shocked when they told me my order was cancelled "by the customer" just 30 minutes ago. I figured since I was driving home during that time, it must have been that evil manager Jim who cancelled my order. I also received an email from them about this order "cancelled by the customer". No refund was mentioned at all. I am furious! Since the more I want to work with Office Depot in San Pedro, CA, the more they'd screw up my order, I had to work with My credit card company to dispute this transaction. I've learned my lesson not to deal with this particular Office Depot in San Pedro, CA, and I strongly recommend that everyone avoids going there for anything, instead, if you drive four more miles to the Office Depot located on Crenshaw Blvd., in Torrance, CA, you'll definitely notice the day-and-night differences in the quality of service, professional knowledge and customer's satisfaction. If you must go there, please watch out for the manager named Jim, he will definitely give you nightmare! read more
