This store was a little disheveled, but it wasn't dirty, it was more like, well loved. There were two staff members that ended up helping me and both were quite friendly. They met us with a smile and wished us a great day as we were leaving. I was able to find all of the baskets I came to purchase and I found new Crayola items I just had to buy. I really am glad I went in. I haven't been to Office Depot in a long time, and it will be good for me to go back soon to help with my current organization at home. read more

My go-to place for office stuff, I bought a printer with no fuss. Since I knew what I wanted, the sales person led me right to it and even carried it to the counter for me. Having it in stock solved my printing emergency. We made the mistake of buying HP printer ink online, which ended up being a clone, not HP, so our printer wouldn't accept it. I've been going to this location for the past 3 years regularly because I need to have things printed. Every single time I go to the printing counter it NEVER fails I am met with some employee that lets me know they can't do this or that because they are busy or have online orders and God forbid you happen to walk in close to closing time they won't even sell you a pencil. Tonight I went in 30 minutes before closing and the employee told me it would be better to put in an order because what I wanted just seemed to complicated and he didn't even know what I needed because I didn't even get a chance to tell him. I guess since he saw me looking for card stock paper he made up his mind that it can't be done right at that moment. Then he tells me that I can't even leave an order because its too detailed and complicated and the employees the next day won't understand the order and will mess it up. AGAIN... I haven't even told him what I wanted yet. I guess he's fully aware that everyone that works there is incompetent because he doesnt even have the confidence that the staff could handle my order which he didn't even know because I didn't even tell him yet. Then I said okay I wont put in an order but can you print these 7 pages for me right now and he said NO because the counter closed. I said so you can't just print the 7 pages and I pay over at the other registers that are not closed yet. He said NO. I said you guys don't close until 8pm and he said we close this counter 30 minutes before the store closes. I just left. I went to complain to the manager and he basically didn't want to hear it and said SO what and stood there. If the manager is that incompetent then that would explain why the rest of the staff is just as bad if not worse. I only gave this store one star because they employ special needs people and so far they are the only ones that have ever given great service at that store. read more

First of all, I had no idea Office Depot was even still in business and after my last 2 experience, I am starting to wonder how. First time I went in there I didn't see an employee for several minutes, as I walked around aimlessly, unsure of where anything was. I finally gave up and walked out. Second time I went was to go in to laminate 1 piece of paper, I went in thinking I would be in and out but the associate said it would take over an hour because she had other orders to fulfill first. I'm not a Office Depot expert, but I'm pretty sure she could have quickly taken my 1 piece of paper very quickly and then continued her work. Office depot in Ventura has never looked so bad. It was a disgusting dirty mess the floors. It looks like they have not mopped or swept the floors in years. I was shocked to see how bad they have left the store. I mentioned it to the two men working the register and they said they were under staffed and had to close at 6 pm. I mentioned that they should not have to mop the floor but they should tell the manger that I had complained. They looked at each other and said they had to leave at 6 and could not stay late to clean the store. What? There are services that professionally clean floors. with COVID there has been a increase in the attempt to keep stores clean and show your best effort. For goodness sake have some respect for customers. The hardware store has cleaner floors and counters. They sell cleaning supplies. They need to use them on their displays. read more

I forgot to Post this!! I wrote it a month ago!! Most retailers have sold or donated laptops, iPads and such to students. So, finding a decent laptop at a decent price while living in our Covid 19 era; has been a bit challenging. I'm not the brainiac computer nerd, people think I am! No really! LOL So I had many questions even though I've tried to keep up After searching online & physically in a store where it was rarely allowed, my boyfriend Rick & I wandered into a wonderful experience! The OfficeMax store was like most stores as they too were out of stock of many brands/styles both in store & online from the distributorship. I know the sales clerk thought I would loose my mind at some point, but Rick & I were happily enjoying being out & shopping (our weird retired people thing). Even with all the time it took, I was & am pleased with our experience! I chose a laptop and it showed the clerk would have to order it for me. He & I worked diligently to get it done. Adding Microsoft Office & such, 2 yr accident plan or whatever. We get to the last spot to hit enter & BOOM. The system kicked him out!  So, here we go again... He had my info already & quickly went through the app. KABOOM! They were then...wait for it... OUT OF STOCK! WTH???!!! LOL So Chris our calm clerk & Rick talked about another laptop & Chris goes to see if there truly is one in the store. I wandered off to the restroom. I came back to a nice deal. Yes, there is 1 in the store that was super close to my 1st choice & because it turned out to be an open box, they would take $50 off & go through it with a fine toothed comb to be sure there is nothing wrong with it. I have no idea HOW this place is still in business. First, the prices are ridiculous. Most of the stuff I can get for much less at Target, just down the road. Second, it's hard to find someone to help you. You have to wander around the store for quite a while. Third, they're copy machines are expensive and always seem to have some kind of problem or other. I hate shopping online and especially hate supporting a business like Amazon, but I'll try Target first or another retailer. This place is just bad all around. read more

After I paid for the item, I arrived at the store two hours later and it turned out they never had any of these items in stock. All they had to say was "sorry, have a nice day". We all have off days and I write reviews when it is stunning or consistent. Office Depot in Ventura is earth friendly leaving lights low. The store is messy at times when they are stocking but I have not found it dirty. Sometimes the self service equipment could use maintenance but I think that comes with the territory. I have used them on many occasions and I have been pleased with the service. They could work on customer service more-having staff available to help on the floor more, floating staff to pick up the phone and checkout faster, but we all have something to work on. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Susan, the manager, extremely rude and very unprofessional. I read the other reviews and Susan is unfortunately the common thread of complaints. Again, susan was the problem again tonight. She had the nerve to talk about me, as the customer, for coming in late as they were closing. I was there 15-20 minutes prior to closing. Both their printers and scanners were causing the issues, not me! I went to two printers, 3 different times. It wasn't my fault, it was the printers issues. 3/4 of the lights were off and no AC in the building, which is needed for machinery to keep them cool and functioning properly. I drove a half hour to get there to scan 11 pages, that's it. Will. NEVER return there again! Susan must go if Office Depot plans on having or keeping any clients. Pathetic!! Office Depot is a good place to shop for your office needs. The Stores basically have the same configuration and layout. They provide services you may need for Office or home. And while they offer everything you may need for communication projects, they also have school supplies, Drafting supplies, computers, copiers and much much more. I've visited several of their Stores and have found he Employees consistently courteous, attentive and willing to help you find what you seek. Is your computer not feeling well? Our almost unused HP Photosmart C5180 isn't functioning and indicates that I need new cartridges - 6 of them. Like a good drone, off I go to Office Depot. Positives: - No problem finding the store - No problem finding parking Negatives: - Problem finding the cartridges - Problem finding a sales representative to assist - Problem understanding the various package prices for the same items. Look...I know it's just a big store of stuff for our electronic equipment, but I NEED people to assist me. Truthfully, though, I think I paid a decent package price for 6 cartridges & 150 pcs. of 4"x6" photo paper. Even better...when I get home, I realize that the cartridges made no difference in the performance of the printer, so I have to contact HP. Within the proverbial "blink of an eye", the representative tells me that they'll have to replace my equipment even though I haven't printed 50 pages in the last 7 months. The guy at the printing counter was very unhelpful! I rushed in hoping to print 6 pages for a meeting I was late for. After being made to wait for him to look up from his computer, I was told to use the self service station or wait because he had a bunch of print jobs already. Then he buried his nose in his computer again. He looked very un-busy. I have had great experiences printing documents at other Office Depots, but not this one. read more

This review in no way is a reflection on employee's at the Ventura location. I've been going here for a number years. Buying more ink than any normal person would ever want to admit. They have a program to return empty cartridges and get credit for them. They also have a cash back of 2% on purchases. Today I bought more gold. Sorry I meant ink. I asked the cashier how much credit I have thinking I'm going to get a nice discount on my purchase, I come to find out I have zero credits. Reason........ they disappear after 30 days. Be careful about their prices. I needed ink cartridges for my printer and I checked Office Depot's prices online before I went. They were suspiciously almost exactly the same as everywhere else on the internet. When I got there, the prices marked on the shelf were much higher (like $10 or $15 higher) than their own website. When I asked about it, they honored their online prices. I'm certainly glad I checked online first and spoke up or I would have paid about $25 extra for two cartridges. Buyer beware! read more

Office Depot has the BEST Customer Service! You walk in and they are like "Johnny on the Spot" saying, "How can I help you today?" And...honestly, I don't go to Office Depot to browse like I do in Macy's or Hot Topic. When I go to Office Depot, I'm typically on a mission to find something specific whether it's a thumb drive, software, hanging folders, a Rolodex or designer paper of some sort. So, I just want to find it and get out of there, ya know?! The staff there is awesome like that! Had the worst customer service ever at an Office Depot. We had ordered some desk chairs online and opted to pick them up in store. We used a coupon and an invoice was sent to us To show at pick up. Once at the store it took Susan, the assistant manager, over 10 mins to notice my husband standing at the pick up desk. She was busy yelling at someone on the phone. First she only brought out 3 of the 5 chairs we had ordered. Then she refused to give the price we were promised online. She said that since we didn't pay for it online we have to pay full price(we chose to pay cash in store). We showed her the email that stated the final price and the option where we chose to pay cash but refused to honor it. She was extremely rude to us! We love going to Office Depot for all our business office necessities but Susan made our experience horrible. Either she doesn't know how to handle online orders or she was just having a bad day. Since we needed several chairs, we had ordered the same chair from the oxnard store as well and had no issues there. read more

She helped me locate the items I wanted to purchase that day and I ended up buying the Sentry Safe large file that I only intended to price. I needed business cards for a same day pick up. They were supposed to be done by 7PM but I received no notification. I called at 7 and they hadn't started the project, the gentleman on the phone said he just didn't check the online queue all day. He had the project done before closing, but when I picked them up they were wrong. The design was blown up and goes all the way to the edges of the card in some areas. I was very mindful when I designed them on the site to keep my design out of the edge area. It looks totally unprofessional. I had to accept them as I needed them early the next morning and it was 8:30PM at this point. I had to give out what I needed to but will probably throw the rest out because it's embarrassing. I don't have a lot of extra money to spend right now like most people, so it's a bummer I'm going to have to pay for the same thing again from somewhere else. read more
