It had been decades since I ate here (for no particular reason other than working out of town for well over a decade), but after reading the menu online, Hubby and I decided to check it out together. The dining room is set up to accommodate parties of two or four, all the way to large groups, with places for individuals at the bar. Table service is provided and our server was friendly. Hubby chose the Hot Brown with a side salad and I went for the liver and onions with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and gravy on the side for the livers. Hubby tries the Hot Brown at a lot of restaurants and said it was good. The liver was tender and tasty with the onions and gravy on the side, and the mashed potatoes and green beans were a good accompaniment. We tried the chili dogs and fries, the fish sandwich special (which came with fries and slaw), and the chicken tenders appetizer. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The fish sandwich was perfectly fried -- crisp on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. Even the chicken tenders were standout. Portions were generous, prices were very reasonable, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Bonus points for the fun UK basketball décor -- fans of the Cats will feel right at home. An awesome little hole-in-the-wall! We ate here because we wanted to try some place new, and my friend had heard mention of this place. It's in a very out-of-the-way spot, and pretty nondescript from the street. If you didn't know this place was here, you'd miss it. Once you step inside, it's very much a very authentic little hole-in-the-wall bar, a little bit of a dive, that has some pretty nice food. My friend summed it up as "This looks like a place where everyone knows your name", referencing the old TV show Cheers. Cheers, if it was in Frankfort instead of Boston, and served food, is a reasonable way to describe the place. The drinks we got were strong, the food was pretty dang good (they've got amazingly good fried pickles), and the service was at least adequate. The crowd does tend to be a little old, my friend and me are in our 40's and we were clearly towards the younger end of the patrons there, but I figure that just means that despite being a tad rough it's not likely to be rowdy and it seems to have a very devoted customer base. This place is a jewel! From the moment we entered to the time we left, it was a truly down home feeling. The waitress was super friendly and chatty, given this was my first time in Kentucky. They had the Kentucky Hot Brown on the menu, but said they serve after 5pm. As it was lunchtime, she said she'll talk tot the cook. Not only did he make it, and personally brought it to me, it was incredible. I went with the home made coleslaw instead of salad. Again, delicious. Complimented with the house sweet tea, and a shot of special Four Roses, this place is where I will definitely return! The owner stopped by just to check on things and was super nice. I think I heard he's had it for 42 years. The whole experience from the ambiance to the people to the food are worthy of 5 stars without a doubt. We love the service from John. The wait staff come and go but John is forever. The Office Pub and Deli is an eclectic hole in the wall bar that serves great food. They have a feeling of walking on to the old tv show, Cheers set. Everyone has a smile for you and most of the time, know your order. I love the Wildcat burger! Always cooked perfectly. They will always come out of the kitchen to make sure you like your food. My husband loves the club. It's huge and piled with meat. They have the best ripe tomatoes for your sandwiches. Stopped here during a recent stay in Frankfort. Not incredibly easy to find for out-of-towners- GPS was my savior. Cool atmosphere, turkey sandwich and fries were great for lunch. We came on a family camping trip with our best friends to visit and acquire some of our favorite bourbons and found this gem of a pub. The most genuine owner, service, locals, food, pricing, the atmosphere was all above expectations. We came back for a second night in a row! I don't know why I haven't written a review about this place yet. My parents and I eat lunch here multiple times a week when I'm in town. The food is all homemade and everything you order is good. The servers are all attentive and do a great job. The place has a bar that's packed during the University of Kentucky basketball games. The restaurant hasn't been renovated since the 70s and has vintage UK memorabilia everywhere. When you visit this pub you feel more like you're going to eat at grandmas house than a restaurant. The only thing that would make this place better is if they did some modern decor updates and kept the food, servers and kitschy decorations. read more

This place has become one of my regular places for lunch in Frankfort, not quite a once a week type of thing but definitely a few times a month. The OPD has a wide selection of food for lunch and dinner. It has your typical bar appetizers: chicken fingers, fried cheese, fried banana peppers, potato skins, etc. They offer up a variety of burgers, salads, sandwiches, and a few hot entrees for lunch. A lot more hot entrees are offered on the dinner menu. If it isn't to busy at lunch sometimes you can get something that is normally offered for dinner at lunchtime. They also have different daily specials. It has a separate room for larger groups but you need to call ahead to reserve it. I dock a star because sometimes the service has taken a little long to get food out and it can get pretty cramped if the place is really busy at lunch. The food is consistently good. read more

The food is good. I've never gotten anything I didn't like. However the service is not good. The last couple of times we went, we were basically ignored. No refills. Just moved into the area and was looking for a pleasant spot to have a beer and conversation and since this is in my new neighborhood, I thought I would give it a try!!! Keep in mind the place closes at 10pm except for weekend, I was here on a Thursday, stopped in after 9 and was greeted with blank stares from the smokers as I walked inside. No one welcomed me or gave me any direction as to where I could sit so I took a seat at the bar. The selection of beers is not existent (no Sam Adams) so I settled on something other than Budwater. The bar seemed to tilt in my direction and I think my grandmother had better countertops in her kitchen back in '82. As I played with my phone and drank a second beer, the bartender asked me to settle up so he could leave by 10. It will be quite some time before I go back...maybe never. read more

I came in here for lunch while I was in town for a certification class. The atmosphere is very casual and low key. I got a tasty burger loaded with fresh ingredients and it only cost about 5 bucks.
