Both were good, and we would definitely return when in the area to try something else too. There's an outdoor area with some picnic tables, cornhole, and chalk for kids to write on the sidewalks.

The atmosphere is super cozy and we felt welcomed from our first steps in. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and we met Michaela who took fabulous care of us for the evening! We settled in to a couple of their specialty cocktails (midwinters night dream and cardamaro manhattans - yummy I'll say) and the Brussel Sprout starter. Let me say to come hungry because the portions are large but yummy. The sprouts are a meal all by themselves! But there's more! I had the porcini rubbed filet and Teresa had the cabbage confit. Both portions were sizable and while I know she loved her cabbage, I was in heaven with a perfectly prepared filet that just melted in my mouth. Plus the asparagus spears and the Okinawa sweet potato mash were perfect accompaniment! Sadly, there was so much goodness we ended up bringing some home and we'll have to come back for dessert and another menu sampling. The restaurant itself feels a bit unexpected for a rural setting, which may help explain its strong ratings. For me, though, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again--more of a "fine if someone else suggests it" kind of spot.

If you park at the Welcome Center, you'll need to walk back across the street or take the black shuttle. The tour... She was personable and knowledgeable, though it was hard to hear her at times, it's worth grabbing a spot up front if you can. What's really cool is that you get to view a working distillery in progress! This isn't some museum, it's the real facility. The "Path to Flavor" is well worth the price, particularly with the informed tasting at the end. If you ever make it on the Bourbon Trail, try this place.

I love the patio and music. Definitely a vibe. We had four pizzas. The loaded potato, the margherita, the supreme and chicken bacon ranch. The supreme was far and away fantastic! Chicken bacon ranch was a close second. Margherita used dried basil which definitely took away from the brightness and overall look of the pizza. Still good, just not expected. The potato pizza was disappointing. I would have liked a garlic béchamel sauce drizzled on top or something to balance out the blandness. Also, cracked peppercorn should not equal 7/8 of a peppercorn. Pizza crust was good and I loved the texture. Overall definitely recommend! We took our older kids and did not feel out of place.

This was our first visit and we were able to secure 5 Trace Tour tickets for our group, which worked out perfectly since two others opted not to go on a tour (they had craft cocktails in the bar area! Win-win). The tour gave a nice overview of the history and the bourbon process. I plan to take one of their other tours in the future for more in-depth knowledge. The tour is free and you get a tasting of 4 of their bourbons at the end (plus a piece of their amazing chocolate.) The gift shop has everything you could possibly want related to BT. They also have nice selection of bourbons available for purchase that I'm not able to easily find in PA. On the day we visited they were giving out samples of their new RTD bourbon lemonade and their bourbon cream with root beer. Needless to say, we purchased all three of these items! We did grab lunch at the John Carlise café on-site. It was delicious and affordable. We had the Bluegrass Melt which was loaded with meat and came with chips. Their chocolate chip cookies are also quite tasty. I recommend grabbing a bite to eat here. Overall, I was very impressed with the organization of the BT tourist operations. They efficiently moved hundreds of people through quickly, while still creating a welcoming place. The friendliness of all the staff is commendable. We will return in the future!

Goods & Gander is the place to choose if you want something casual, where you watch the games and where you can be loud with friends and it's expected. The food was excellent and the service was attentive and friendly. Make a point to visit Midway - midway between Louisville and Lexington. You won't be disappointed.
