Hadn't been here in quite awhile. Stopped in for lunch today with a friend. It wasn't busy at all, 3-4 people in the bar. The staff were friendly and they had the World Cup game on the TV's. Really great - lots of options for food and I do love that the draft menu is one the wall and updated often. Service is always great, I really appreciate how fast they try to get your order to you. Tonight I visited Shamrocks for the first time in years and it didn't disappoint! I ordered the fish and chips and the batter on the fish was so light and crispy. The coleslaw that came with my meal reminded me of my grandmothers and I haven't had it since her passing. I will definitely be visiting again soon. We had a group of 10 people for dinner And 4 separate tabs, no easy feet. The location and sever could easily accommodate us. TVs were located throughout the venue so everyone at the table could watch regardless of where they were sitting. We ordered everything from appetizers to burgers, italian sub, French Dip and BLT. Everything tasted great. The only complaint was that there was only 1 cook working on Saturday so our orders were very delayed in between. I've always wanted to watch a UK basketball game at Shamrocks because I've only ever heard great things--and I finally got to experience it for myself. This place has a ton of character, TVs everywhere, and a great alcohol selection that any UK fan would appreciate. If you're coming for a game, pro tip: arrive at least 60-70 minutes before tip-off to get a seat inside! My friends and I sat at the bar, and Jen and Toni (sorry if I'm spelling that wrong!) were incredibly friendly. They even took the time to ask our names, which was a nice touch. I've heard great things about the food, and while I usually go for traditional wings, I tried the boneless this time. They were good but didn't blow me away. However, the onion rings were phenomenal--beer battered and extra crispy! Others in my group had a burger and a catfish sandwich, and they couldn't stop raving about it. Shamrocks is known as a go-to spot for UK fans, but after this experience, it's officially my favorite place in Lexington to watch a UK game. Can't wait to come back! read more

Well we found this place on a whim. Someone recommended it to us and said they enjoyed their food so we decided to give it a shot. We tried the loaded nachos appetizer and they didn't disappoint. We all ordered burgers and they were delicious. They were hot and fresh and very filling. I would have took pictures but i was busy eating lol. We had a burger with bbq sauce on it which was my favorite and we had a burger with grilled onions and double cheese on it. Also the waffle fries were hot and crispy. So in summary their food was excellent and we will return. The only complaint I would have is it was very dark in the restaurant but it is to be expected because it is a bar. read more

We have been coming here for years and in the COVID crazy I thought it deserved an update. We were here this week on a Wednesday night and I happy to report that this place is as awesome as ever. They have worked really hard to stay open in the ever changing restrictions and rules - and provide a quality experience to their clientele, and they have done a wonderful job. We were in the mood for "junk food" so we decided on the Southwestern Eggrolls and Potato Skins. And a couple of locally brewed beers. I had a Blue Stallion - Schrodinger's Cat Pale Ale. It was great hoppy beer with a really bright clean taste. I will definitely have it again. This bar has 20+ taps with some really cool offerings. If you like beer you will find something you like here. The potato skins are great! Good bacon and cheddar cheese content on a perfectly deep fried skin with just the right amount of potato left on the skin. Even after their run under the broiler they bacon is perfectly cooked and cheese is gooey good. Served with sour cream but we got some extra ranch - their dressing here are great! The Southwestern Eggrolls were the best I have ever had! They appear to be homemade. They were delish with a perfect combination of sweet and spice. They are served with a spicy ranch. Get these! They were not over cooked which is usually my gripe in SW Eggrolls. Sad Sidenote: In my original review I mention a favorite bartender Kenny D that we had actually followed from restaurant to restaurant in the 1990s and 2000s. We decided to try Shamrock's for lunch yesterday. This is a small pub located in Patchen Village in Lexington. I really wasn't sure what to expect when we got there, but was pleasantly surprised. You have to park on the Patchen Drive or a nearby parking lot to access them. There was a ramp on the sidewalk for accessible needs. When we walked in, we found a booth and although they were busy, our waitress met us with a smile and helped us decide what to order. All of their burgers are referred to as "O'Rounds". I had the Derby O'Round which Topped with bourbon glaze, Guinness beer cheese and a beer-battered onion ring. This burger was full of flavor. Next time I'll skip the lettuce, tomato, and mayo that was added because I felt that it hid the flavor of their beer cheese and bourbon glaze, but would definitely order this again. The beer cheese and bourbon glaze were both very flavorful and made a great combination but would be great on their own as well! My wife had the Patty Melt with a marbled rye bun. Again, full of flavor and very good! Each meal was served with chips and a pickle spear. You can add fries or onion rings for a little more. I was told that their Reuben Potato Skins were delicious (skins with corned beef, sauer kraft, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing) but we weren't really hungry, and passed on any appetizers. The nachos definitely sound like a reason to make a return trip -- plus I will have to try their reuben sandwich. I'm sure on the weekends and game days, this place is really packed, but we will be back again and again to try other items on the menu! A new favorite! read more

I have been wanting to try Shamrocks for a while and finally got the chance. In discussions they are frequently mentioned as having both the best wings and burgers in town. While I'm not much of a burger person, I love wings but admit I can be a bit picky about how they are made. I want a nice crispy skin with juicy chicken inside. I can confirm that Shamrocks meets the requirements! Their wings were nearly perfect and had an assortment of sauce options. We tried the crazy sauce which had a very comfortable amount of heat with great flavor. I would love to try the "Totally Insane" but probably won't commit to an order alone We just happened to stop in on a Wednesday which had $2 off all appetizers and $2 domestic beers so we decided a shared table of apps would be our meal. Wings, Irish Nachos, and Potato Skins. All were good but let me say the Irish Nachos are pretty huge! Watched the Super Bowl here. Great atmosphere for sports fans. Lots of TVs visible from every seat. Lots of unique burger options. Also a wide variety of wings and sandwiches. Tons of beers and a solid drink menu. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive. She checked on us often enough and kept drinks filled. Our meal for 2 was a little on the pricey side. We both had burgers (one upgraded to a grande), 2 orders of fries, 1 soda, 1 beer and 1 cocktail. Total including tip was $55. I wasn't aware of all the additional charges. Fries don't come with the burger. They are $1.99. The upcharge for the grande burger was $3.99. I requested a side of bbq sauce for my burger $.50. The little things add up. It would've been nice to have been told about the upcharges when the order was placed. The charge for the fries was on the menu, but we weren't aware of the other charges. And we expected an upcharge for the burger, but I guess we should have asked how much it would be. The food and drinks were great, so at least we got something good for the price. I had the el bandito burger , and it was absolutely delicious. I had a white sangria which I also liked a lot. I was disappointed that it had so much ice in it though. The glass was over 3/4 full with ice. The ice definitely watered it down. Overall a good experience. Good food, attentive wait staff, great service, cool atmosphere for sports fans. Awful service unless you're a regular. We used to bring people to the shamrock in patches all the time when we first moved to Lexington. Menu has always been too big with average food but we liked supporting local. Problems started with them constantly running out of things, once to the point our meal was comped. Hadn't been back in a while but decided to give it a chance on my own for lunch. Sat at the bar for several minutes without being acknowledged when a couple that the bartender apparently knew sat down and was able to get drinks and put in a good order before I was spoken to so I left without anyone saying a word to me. Will never be back and definitely do not recommend. Plenty of other great local places in Lexington. read more

There's been an issue the last 1 1/2 years of how "open" this place is or not. Google says they're open til 1am, later than other places, but 1st time I went they only had drinks open no food. Another time was the opposite. Sometimes in the middle of the day I've called and they didn't do take out over the phone, had to come in to order and wait. I did once just cause I really wanted Irish food that day. It's just too much trouble. With so many places to eat in Lex I don't try to go much anymore, even though it's walking distance from my apt. I'm better with places that have limited hours that are accurate. Don't know how it's gonna be when at Shamrock. The food is pretty good the 2 times they let me have it, just a lotta trouble logistically. read more

After seeing a post on Facebook advertising they were open on Labor Day and to come enjoy their two patios, we headed over for a late lunch. We arrived to find one bartender and two servers on duty for the entire large dining room plus both patios. The back patio had dirty dishes and glasses on 75% of the tables so we assumed there were no busboys hiding anywhere either. After a lengthy wait without menus, one of the servers came over and took our drink orders and brought back menus with her. We ordered food and after that was brought out we didn't see her again. No chance to order drink refills and I had to go find her in order to pay. I understand understaffing is an issue right now but then why post on Facebook requesting customers to a severely understaffed location? I will never return here and I'm here leaving a poor review so my $30 they made that day didn't do much for them. If they had call-ins, there should've been a manager on duty that closed one of the patios as well as part of the dining room because they were all filling up with no staff to take care of them. When we came in the bartender just said, sit anywhere you want so this is not a good system. Most places I go with lack of staff have whole sections closed down and are running seating waits despite a lot of open tables so it can be done with good management.
