Reviewing one specific service: Printing Services I had a crazy idea the other day at work. It involved making a number of signs of nonstandard sizes on foam. It's complicated, but suffice to say, I didn't have high hopes that my (late...meeting is in a few days) idea could be realized, but I had an ad agency design the signs anyway. So, Sunday I dropped in and spoke to an associate in the print area and he assured me it could be done, but would probably be an overnight job. Could I have my agency lay out the files just so, in these sizes, and bring a flash drive in Monday? Turns out I could. A different associate was there Monday and when I caught her up on my plans, she seconded everything Sunday dude said (dude's name was Matt, I can remember Matt). She took my order specifics down, went over it with me carefully to make sure it was right and clear for whoever took over the next day (she said she'd get a start on it before she left for the night) and gave me a target time to pick it up. So, today I went in a bit nervous...and my posters were PERFECT. Cut to the perfect sizes. Perfectly mounted on the foam board. Just perfect in every regard. And, woohoo, they have a coupon at the register they can scan to get me 20% off (well, get my company 20% off, this is getting expensed). And though it doesn't relate to the review, a little bonus, a colleague of mine is driving to Atlanta for the meeting and she's taking my posters down for me, so I don't have to deal with them on a plane. read more

Came here looking for a printer and some office supplies. Great customer service with researching printers and helpful information in making a choice. Nice variety of choices in office supplies and furniture and reasonable prices. Very clean and organized store. read more

This store is completely useless there employees are completely uneducated a out the items they sell your better off staying home and buying whatever you need from online there so unorganized and in my experience are wrong 9 -10 when they give you advice or answer your questions I've given them the benefit of the doubt I've been going here for 2 years and nothing has changed read more

As for the Office Max part of things, this is the same as any, I think. As for the PC fix, this is a good place to go, especially if you're having just minor issues. My computer turned out to be a major fix, but we brought the PC back three times until we were sure everything was cleaned up, and the guys did it happily without charging extra. If you go for PC work, get Jason to do it! The others aren't as knowledgable. read more

The single star is not a mistake, I would rate this business a zero if it was possible. This was, by far, was the worst ever for me at a business in the Apex area. After having my previous cannon MP730 multi-function printer wear out a printer head, I researched Cannon online and selected one of their new Pixma models that seemed to suit our needs. I next visited BestBuy.com to check on availability and confirm a local price. Best Buy showed a sales price that matched Cannon's suggest price, so I was prepared to buy it there after their online system indicated the Cary store had it in stock. I then had a second thought and decided if I could find another store closer to my house that offered it for the same price, I would go there to avoid the trip to Crossroads in Cary. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited OfficeMax online and found that they not only offered the same printer for sale, but that it was advertised at a price 25% below Best Buy over the July 1st weekend. My family and I visit this Apex Office Max location and immediately found the printer that interested us in-stock and on the shelf at the 25% off price. Just after beginning to look at it to ensure is was acceptable for our needs, we were greeted by a sales associate who asked if we needed any help with printers. We said we'd researched them online and knew the one we wanted (we were standing in front of it) He told us that he didn't think it was a good choice and that we should consider the "newer" one because only the "new" model would work with wireless devices like phones & ipads. This struck us as odd because the model we'd selected was indeed the newest Pixma model... assuming Cannon USA's website is to believed. He insisted that the model we'd selected would not work with wireless devices. I then pointed to the "Wireless" and "Airprint" information on the device and told him this was indeed wireless and that Airprint was an Apple name for wireless printing and could only be found on a wireless device. He didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I had also previous researched the model and knew before I got to the store that is was completely wireless and would work with all of our Apple devices. We told the sales associate that we appreciated his help, but were ready to buy the printer and that we were confident it was right for us. I tried to start getting the printer off of the shelf, but he interrupted me and told us that he had something he wanted us to consider. He then told us that he wanted us to make a deal with him to buy a $50 warranty package that included a "high speed USB cable" because it was a "great deal" since we would have to buy the USB cable for $30 anyway (BTW... that was $30 for a 6-Foot USB 2 cable apparently) After telling him we weren't interested, he asked us why. I told him I wasn't concerned about the quality of the product because I'd had one previously and he asked how long we'd had it. When we told him 9 years, he again pushed their in-store "extended warranty package" on us. When I told him I didn't need or want it, he seemed to disappear, which we actually thought was a good thing! As if that wasn't enough, what happened next was unimaginable. While I was getting the printer's box off the shelf, the manager of the store, Jason, came up to us and in a consending and agressive demeanor, and pitched the extended warranty / USB package again! I literally thought we must be being filmed for some sort of customer service special on what not to do in sales, client management, and retail operations. But no, this was no training video, Jason was seriously asking us again why we didn't want their in-store extended warranty. He even went so far as to tell ask us if we realized that this printer was "only going to last two years." Yes... he actually said that. I wonder what Cannon would think of the way OfficeMax was representing their products. It was all we could do to maintain our composure at this point. We just wanted to get out of there. Frankly, I would have left without the printer at that point, but they were the ones offering it at 25% under market value and I didn't want to drive around looking for another one elsewhere on a Sunday afternoon. I should note again the comedy that can be found in this entire incident. They know so little about their product that they are selling that they don't realize you don't need a USB cable for a wireless printer... hence the "wireless" part. Why on earth would you use a sales pitch like "you have to buy a $30 cable if you want to use this printer, so you should just buy the warranty that includes the cord for $50" on a device that doesn't have to be plugged into anything but power? Yikes... I know its common for the consumer to be knowledgeable about products these days given the access to online comparisons and research, but selling something with so little knowledge of the product is shameful. read more

Terrible customer service. I'm not sure about everyone there but my cashier Destiny was not friendly and seemed bothered by having a customer in her line (I was the only one at checkout). She even began to pick her nails while I was asking her a question. Completely unprofessional. The location is convenient, but I'd rather drive the 6 miles to Staples than run the risk of dealing with her again. read more

Average office supply store. I have noticed, however, that they tend to have a hard time keeping sale items in stock.

After being bounced from employee to employee Scott provided me an email address and told me I could email the photo to them with instructions and the prints would be ready that evening and that I would receive a call from them when it was ready. I emailed the prints and my instructions along with my phone number to the email address provided and received an email back from Office Max thanking me for my order. Here we are on day number 2 no phone call nothing. I call Office Max this morning and was bounced to 4 different people on the phone having to repeat my situation, name and email address each time and was placed on hold each time so the employee could go and "look" for my order. I am asked my email address several times I even went as far as to spell my email address with the standard military phonetic alphabet as to make sure they clearly understood me.....and of course no one can find my name or email address in their system. This place is a circus no one knows whats going on and you just keep getting passed on to another clueless employee. So now we have no large photo for my daughters project that is due next week because Office Max claims to not be able to find my email with my print request the same email to which they replied thanking me for my order. I was finally told that I could place the photos on a flash drive and bring them into Office Max and "wait" seriously the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my 40+ years on this earth. I will never use this place again and will tell anyone who tries to use their services to take their business elsewhere. Terrible experience!! read more

This is in regarding the Impress Printing Department at this particular Office Max. The technicians who work at this printing department are phenomenal. They will go the extra mile to make sure your order is correct and will do what they can to make you happy (literally holding the door open if you get stuck in traffic and get there a minute after they close!). They are SUPER friendly and always very nice - even when they're swamped and overworked. These people are great at making sure you're getting the best deal as well. I've been getting our church bulletins printed here every week for the past 3 years and recently some business materials printed there and it's all been a very pleasant experience. I *highly* recommend their print department!! read more

Today (1/2/17) attempted to pay for services at the Apex Office Max help center, BUT THEY ARE NOT helpful, NOTHING completed. Only 1 staff person at help center and their manager was NOT assisting with a line of customers. When I left my items to be laminated, gave them 1 hour 30 minutes for service before returning. At pick up time, NOTHING is ready! Excuse due to low Staff; and this issue I can already see so I understand and did not go crazy. I will wait Another HOUR, and then return to pick up order . . .AGAIN NOTHING READY. Why did they choose to do NOTHING for Me but everybody else is picking up Orders???? I say ZERO stars for the worst customer service and ZERO for not helping at all today. I took back my order and left Office Max and I will NOT come back to this business. read more

The service is terrible I rang to inquire about the FedEx service I was told I had to go in to the shop to find out if they ship International. The operator would not answer my question. I will not be visiting this office max. I will be sending a complaint letter to FedEx. read more
