Chris was the perfect officiant for our wedding that took place not even 2 months ago! He was professional and personable, explained everything thoroughly, and set up our expectations accordingly. We just received our marriage certificate in the mail on Monday which took 7 weeks from the time we got married. When we first spoke with him, he stated that he goes to the county office to file in person and it would take about 5 weeks that way. If he didn't file in person, it would normally take 6-8 weeks. When I asked him about it, about a month after our wedding, he said it might take up to 8 weeks as they have new people working there and they are all still learning. That was a bit of a bummer as I was hoping to have it back in 5-6 weeks. At any rate, it came in and we didn't have any issues on that end. Oof I wish I could give a great review considering this man will be a part of my wedding forever but I can't. My biggest regret is not firing him when he showed up and insulted me 15 minutes before I was to walk down the aisle. Everything was great leading up to the event, super responsive via email, answered all my questions, does basically everything for your marriage license, easy peasy and I was so pleased to find someone like this considering I had to cancel our first wedding due to covid reasons. I'll keep this short, and thought about not reliving this since it's devastating and enraging and brings back all these emotions, but I think people should hear it in case you're thinking of hiring him. Had I read something like this I would've steered clear of this officiant. My wedding was in September 2020, and the last time I heard from him confirming via email was 17 days before the event. I reached out to confirm the room number two nights before the wedding and radio silence. No response. When 4:30PM came and went on the wedding day (my wedding was at 5PM and he said he would be there no later than 30 minutes till) -- I had to think of a backup plan if he didn't show up. Tried calling him multiple times and no answer. Still no response to my emails I had sent. He finally showed up about 15 min. till... No apologies for being late... the first thing he did was come into my room, point at my face and ask "what happened?" When my reply was "nothing", he said he thought I got a black eye. Let me rewind -- and reiterate -- i was in full hair and makeup for my wedding. I was 10 minutes from walking down the aisle. I felt happy and beautiful and was ready to have this amazing life changing event. And in one second... this man, the OFFICIANT TO MY WEDDING, destroyed it completely. What kind of a person does that? Like I said -- biggest regret was not firing him on the spot when that came out of his mouth. I am someone who has a prosthetic eye and have lived with people like him my entire life, but I have never been insulted like this. EVER. And that's saying a lot considering I've lived 30 years with a birth defect. Then the icing on the cake was he emailed and called the very next day asking where his money was ... so I guess his email did work and so did his phone. Do yourself a favor, look for someone else.
