It was the opposite: she didn't think I needed a treatment I have had previously, and she did not recommend deep cleaning. I felt very well taken care of, not only by Dr. Almario, but by everyone else: the hygienist, the tech, and the front desk staff. I spent three years fixing my teeth because I had to -- I spent most of my adult life in fear of dentists. I am so psyched to have found Dr. Almario. The staff's behavior was extremely rude -- when I entered, they immediately started laughing, which made me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. During my appointment, the doctor examined my teeth and took an X-ray. She asked what I was there for, and I explained that I wanted a consultation for Invisalign. She provided information about the process and explained what was going on with my teeth. At the end, she asked if there was anything else I needed, and I said no, that I was only there for the consultation. The doctor then became visibly upset and rudely told me that I had "wasted her time" before storming out of the room. I was shocked by how unprofessional and disrespectful the interaction was. A consultation is exactly what I scheduled, and I expected to be treated with basic kindness and respect. Overall, this was a very uncomfortable experience. The staff and doctor need to improve their professionalism, communication, and manners when dealing with patients. I would not recommend this office based on how I was treated. Its affordable…read more However please take into consideration: 1.They are not conservative in their approach to dental care. - okay fine. Each Dentist has their own approach to treatment planning. But... 2. They will examine your teeth, tell you that you have cavities that need to be filled when they are just superficial. Ex: They told me I had a tooth that needed a crown. No previous history of issues with this tooth. But that it was 'decayed' to the point of not being able to just redo the filling. So, I asked another Dentist. They said part of the 'decay' looked like stain and I didn't need a crown. Just a filling redone. .... SO get a second opinion. I repeat. Get a second opinion. I repeat again. GET A SECOND OPINION. 3. The dentist that does your initial examination may not be the one operating on your teeth, leading me to believe that, and I feel sorry for the dentists in this regard, they might be work off of quotas? Sort of like the cop that has to fill his ticket quota, except in this case... it's your perfectly healthy teeth. This is not to say that everyone wasn't nice and understanding and listened to my questions. But Dentist shouldn't be making you pay for fillings and procedures that you just don't need.

She was very patient and addressed all my concerns, and that has been her bedside(?) manner to this day (literally just left after getting great care). I haven't had any big dental needs, so I can't speak to the problems with insurance or dental care to the extent that other reviews mention, but I've always been treated as a human (I'm Asian, nonbinary, and unapologetically weird), my insurance hasn't had any issues, and I have not been upsold on anything, or told to get any procedures that I didn't already request or ask about. !!!Trust, I'll update this review if that ever happens!!! The staff are chill and very responsive - I've been able to call and schedule appointments, even within 24 hrs for an emergency last summer (I chipped my tooth being stupid, I don't want to talk about it)! Here's order of things that happened: 1. Person at the front desk tried to upsell me on some fancy $300 cleaning and I said "No. Give me the one my insurance covers." She begrudgingly said okay. I was like, "Make sure you note that on your paper. I DON'T want the expensive cleaning" 2. X-Ray tech was very thorough, nice, but it took 45 minutes to get all the x-rays which is WAY too long. 3. I get to an actual dental chair, and a woman with a clipboard sits next to me, talking about what my insurance covers to get THREE.ROOT.CANALS. because I all of a sudden have gum disease?? I was like, "What are you talking about? I'm here for a CLEANING?" Also, I go to the dentist EVERY SIX MONTHS and this had never come up. I was getting really upset, asking a TON of questions, and they kept getting really defensive because I was like, this can't be accurate. ****4. They wanted me to pay $4,500 for three root canals. **** 5. TWO HOURS go by of waiting, them trying to get me to buy the expensive cleaning STILL, me pressing them for answers, and I STILL haven't gotten a cleaning. And when I ask if it's still going to happen, they say, "Well, you'll have to wait another 45 minutes because the hygienist is with someone else." I left work for this so I was like, I can't, I have to go. So I schedule a cleaning for another time, I guess I ended up going to get it but don't remember because I was so pissed. They kept bothering me to book appts for the root canals but I never did because I was like, This is obscene. 6. And the only thing you might need is your filling replaced because it's cracked." I said, "Why would they tell me I need all this work done?" And he said, "It's places like that that give dentists a bad name." However, when I arrived, it seemed like they had other plans that day. Instead of the treatment, the dentist said he would do a cleaning. The cleaning was done very quickly about five minutes and did not feel thorough at all. Also I visited on March 6 and at the beginning, I was told that everything would be covered by Medi-Cal. However, after the treatment, I was told that I needed to pay $400 for two teeth. This was very surprising because Medi-Cal usually covers root canal treatments, and the cost was not explained to me in advance. Later they said that the dentist was invited from another office and that I had to pay extra for his experience. This was only mentioned after the treatment was completed. Unfortunately, my teeth are still hurting after the visit, and I was not given a receipt for the payment. Overall, I am very disappointed with the experience and the lack of transparency about the costs. It feels misleading when patients are told that Medi-Cal will cover the treatment and then asked to pay extra afterward. I would not recommend this clinic.
