This was my very first-time trying sushi. It was my husband's birthday, and I agreed to try it. It was absolutely delicious . We had an amazing waitress named Claudia and she explained all the different things to try. We will defiantly return to taste more dishes. As a newbie to sushi, it was a very nice experience. Sushi is served WARM. A lot of the sushi rolls taste the same. If you get anything fried, it all taste the same- like the grease from the fryer. Not a fan at all. The location its self has odd parking. You have to walk across the street and around back of the restaurant. The place is quiet dirty inside. Everything is sticky. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a server that is attentive, other times you are left waiting forever to order. read more

Ogawa is good, but not great! I'm surprised it's listed in the top ten restaurants on Culture list for Morgantown. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and were promptly attended to. We ordered the spider roll and the salmon roll along with shrimp and vegetables bento box. I really liked the veggie tempura and the rolls were okay. To finish up, we got the matcha ice cream. Very nice Japanese restaurant and sushi bar to have lunch or dinner. Having been here for both I'll start with lunch. The outside is unassuming but the interior has a cool Asian vibe with its furnishings and decor. As such, the wooden chairs are smaller but comfortable. Usually have a bowl of ramen or a lunch box. A bowl of miso soup is served before your meal arrives. Servings are generous and food is flavorful. The ramen sure hits the spot on those cold periods. The lunch boxes offer food options and include a meat, small salad, sushi, and sides. From chicken katsu to teriyaki, the food tastes great and is filing. We've had large sushi platters for dinner and the options really depend on how hungry you are. All platters are tasty and pleasing to the eye. Fountain drinks, beers, wines, and liquors are available to quench your thirst or accompany the sushi. The staff is friendly and helpful. I have eaten here a few times and would recommend it for those wanting to try sushi for the first time or enjoy some very good Japanese food. read more

Ogawa is small, family owned (mostly) Japanese restaurant. Expect to be greeted from the sushi counter as you walk in, and well served by the wait staff who always go above and beyond. There are few items from other cuisines on the menu as well, if that's more your fare. The sushi and sashimi menu is robust, and tends to be where our focus stays on our frequent visits. You'll be well taken care of there, or with something from their kitchen menu. My favorite is the Red Devil Roll, which has fried shrimp, spicy tuna, crunchies, and a cream-based sauce. Add an asparagus roll, and tamago (egg) and you've got a fit meal! Complementary miso soup is always a nice welcome, especially after a workout. Ogawa is our go-to Japanese stop in Morgantown. *** UPDATE *** Ogawa has not maintained their beer and wine license for some time, and for the past few months, and indeed currently, no beer or wine is available at any time. This is a bit of a bummer, as a tall of Sapporo goes very well with the Red Devil Roll. read more

I ordered to go since they were close to closing and I hate being that person that keeps everyone there because I'm being a hungry hippo. *Extra parking around back, recommended not to park on University* June 2020 - Workers we're enforcing the 6' rule and wearing masks. Service was quick and accurate. Food was immaculate! The ramen broth had a slow heat and the egg made it so great. I could eat that forever. My spicy tuna and spicy scallops were good and kept well as leftovers for dinner. The pork potstickers and the sauce that came with it was a great appetizer for the table. The waitress was polite and fast. I will be returning to this Sushi place in Morgantown. What happened to Ogawa. I've been eating here for years but my last two visits have terrible. Slices of fish are small, and the quality of the fish has really gone downhill. Just left 4 pieces of sashimi on the bento box because it tasted off. Really disappointed in a restaurant that I used to love visiting. read more

I frequent this place way too much. Ogawa is a hidden gem of Morgantown. It looks sketchy from the outside but rest assured, its pretty nice inside. They increased their lunch boxes from $6.50 to $7.50. It's still a good deal because the box is filling and the tastes great. You get to choose your kitchen item and sushi or nigiri. It comes with ginger salad, rice, tempura, and miso soup. Their dinner boxes are HUGE and kind of expensive ($20+). I usually have a hard time finishing it. If i go for dinner, I love getting the Dol-sot bibimbap which is a rice dish with fresh veggies, fried egg, and choice of meat in a hot stone bowl that cooks the veggies as you mix it up in the pot and the crispy rice at the bottom is my favorite. Their udon and other noodle dishes are sub-par. I never get them. Their sashimi is absolutely delicious and it practically melts in your mouth. Any sushi roll you get is great too. I've never had an issue with the service. Everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly. read more

Sushi here is really good. The rice isn't to sour like the other and the pressure on the rice is perfect, not to firm and not so much rice. Okonomiyakki; Japanese pizza, is the bomb. It's thin and they will give you a lot of dry fish on top. Love it! P.S. don't order Korean food and spicy ramen. They are good but not worth the price. read more

An oversized bottle of Alize greets you as you walk in to this restaurant which struck me as screaming come here and drink. The interior is cute though. There are a few seats at the sushi bar where two older gentleman work to create your rolls. There are plenty of tables and the decorations are appropriately Asian. There were three servers working and all three of them helpers us at one point during our meal. We were seated immediately and provided with two hot bowls of miso soup; this was complimentary. We ordered chicken yakisoba to split as well as the spicy California and New York New York rolls. The rolls cane out fast and first. They were good; I would say average. There was only one portion of wasabi and ginger provided for both rolls which I didn't feel was enough. The spicy California roll does not have spicy mayo but rather the crab was chopped and maybe mixed with something spicy. I could not taste that spicy flavor even when I ate the crab alone. The yakisoba was good and there is a decent amount for the price. The chopsticks they give you here I have never used before. They have a very wide base which I assume is specific to picking up sushi. I had a good meal but I prefer the food, ambiance and food presentation at another establishment in town. Also there are so many Japanese restaurants in town I want to try it's unlikely I would return to this one. read more

I cannot believe the poor service and lack of professionalism here. I've eaten at Ogawa before on trips to Morgantown and have found it a reliable place for maki rolls. My recent visit was so abhorrent that I'll never return. I'm usually not one to slander a waiter/waitress because I understand that being a server is a demanding job. However my server at Ogawa truly did not know what he was doing; couldn't answer questions about how the salmon in a certain roll is prepared, didn't know how many pieces of sushi came in a roll, and also was just plain impolite. He never introduced himself or offered to answer our questions, and stood over us while we were looking at the menu. I ordered the New York New York Roll and asked the server how many pieces came in it, and he said "Um probably 6. Yeah all rolls come with 6." I also asked him if there were large pieces of salmon in the roll, and his response was "Uhh, yeah." Keep in mind he said all this while staring off in a different direction. At this point even the guy eating sushi at a table to my left seemed confused as to why my server wasn't able to answer simple questions and appeared to have his head in the clouds. I defended the server, assuming that he was tired and had a long night. Then the sushi roll came. Five pieces, not six, with the thinnest pieces of salmon I've ever seen in an almost $11 maki roll. The roll is 50% fake crab meat, just forewarning anyone who might order it. I decided to overlook the poor quantity of fresh fish and only mentioned to my server that a piece of sushi was missing from my roll. His response was that he messed up and forgot that it's only 5 pieces. I politely asked if I could order a different roll instead and he said that I can't because it's "policy." Sooo let's get this straight. My server messed up, giving me the wrong information about how many pieces of sushi came in the maki roll. I understand that 5 vs 6 isn't that big a deal. That's not the problem. The problem was that my server never apologized or offered to rectify the situation. Instead his mind was 100% of money instead of costumer satisfaction. Like dude, our bill for 2 people is going to be over $40, and most people here easily blow tons of money because the rolls here are pricey af. How cheap could you be to obsess over a $10 Roll that YOU messed up on? I've worked in the past as a server at way cheaper restaurants, and if a costumer isn't satisfied you best believe we'll get them something else. I know this review was really long lol, but I can't stand cheapskate restaurants that would rather make a quick buck on a way overpriced roll than to ensure their customers are happy and will come back. The utter lack of proper service etiquette shocked me, and even though I was a regular before, I can't imagine ever coming back. read more

I have been a regular customer for years and was very disappointed with the recent service. My table was over charged on multiple items on our bills. When questioning the bill the manager yelled at us for not tipping enough (as if that gave him the right to add extra fees) He went as far to stare down our group from the back of the store when we were leaving. Definitely the best sushi place in town. It's a hidden gem, one of my first choices for lunch.

Food was fine, but the service and cleanliness were not. We were twice given dirty spoons -- not water spotted (don't care about that), but actual brown chunks of rice/meat visibly adorning them. The dark-haired female server working our table was clearly annoyed when we returned the second set of spoons and gave us disposable plastic ones instead. We had a bibimbap in a scorching stone bowl so plastic cutlery is not great, tbh. The blonde male server working in another section came over and apologized, he was very professional and seemed to have a much better handle on the operation.
