My experience was great. I really enjoyed my time at the Ogunquit River Inn. It is super clean and the beds are comfy. The rooms had plenty of space and hooks to hang stuff. There is a pool here. The pool deck is very nice and it has plenty of chairs. The pool is really clear and not super cold. My hotel room had an excellent view into the river. The hotel has a River right next to it. You can rent paddle boards and kayaks there. It looked like a very fun experience. Unfortunately I didn't have a enough time to do it. The hotel is close to the shops, restaurants, the downtown, and martial way. The hotel lobby was well kept and spacious. The breakfast wasn't that great though. They just needed some more options. The staff delivered extra clean towels if needed and they did it fast. They staff in the lobby was nice. Overall I had a great experience. read more

This was our third time staying at Ogunquit River Inn and we had a pleasant experience, as we've had in the past. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and it's centrally located to the places we like to visit when we're in the area. We also love the beautiful views that the hotel backs up to and always make sure to get a room overlooking the waterway. I was bummed that there's now an additional cost for breakfast as this used to be included but I understand times change. The grounds of this hotel definitely make up for any deficiencies there might be (and there weren't many lol). It's located right on the Ogunquit river which is more like a tributary...I saw they even had some kayaks on the grounds so that would be perfect in the warmer weather! And there were so many birds right outside the balcony! It was peaceful and just lovely! And you can see the ocean off in the distance behind some nice houses! Tons of parking, easy to find my way around. The staff member checking me in was excellent - friendly and helpful! They had hot coffee and hot water in the lobby, as well as a plethora of tea bags! I had a double queen room with balcony - get the balcony! It's so worth it! The sunset lit the whole world up in a fiery orange glow that night! It was incredible! There was a cool breeze rustling the leaves on the tree outside my screen door (which I left cracked all night - amazing sleeping to that sound)!!! Utter peaceful bliss! The room was large and clean, beds really comfy. There's a fridge and coffee maker but no microwave so that kinda sucked. Also, the shower is large but weird to operate and had pretty poor water pressure. Otherwise, everything was great except for the breakfast - I went to check out and grab breakfast right around 745am but the lobby doors were still locked. I was told it started at 7am when I checked in. There were other guests outside waiting too. Waited around 15 mins but needed to go. Luckily there was a Dropbox for the keys bc I couldn't wait any longer. Not a big deal - it's a very small town and these things happen sometimes. But this, along with the weird shower and no microwave is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. I'd still stay here again! I also received very nice text messages from management later on with a special offer to extend my stay...wish I could've taken them up on it! Will definitely be back. read more

Delighted - ignore those outdated reviews. I have been coming to Ogunquit for 35 years and have stayed in many OGT hotels. First time here - loved my room. Double Queen room with patio. ( need to be able to traverse steps down as the hotel is positioned to take best advantage of the amazing views ) Bedding was comfy and provided a great sleep. Bathroom area was separated from sleeping room by a divided wall - bathroom was large and immaculate. Sink and closet/ storage space was ample The walk in shower was appreciated after a long day at the beach! In the morning they have coffee and pastry in the lobby . The grounds are immaculate and offer many places to sit and relax and enjoy the fabulous views !! Pool was clean and had nice canopied seating and towels Kayak rental on site Price was competitive and I felt a good value for the amenities and location. Ogunquit trolley stop to town and Perkins cove stops right out front!! One last thing - super friendly staff. Unusual nowadays to see people so engaged and pleasant. I usually stay at a bed and breakfast on Shore Road when I come into Ogunquit. We found ourselves with tickets to a Saturday night show at the Ogunquit Playhouse so we needed a place to stay and our usual place was not available. This Inn came recommended to us and it was very nice. It is motel style in that you can drive up to your room. The room faces the river and the sunset was beautiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I could totally see coming back here again. Breakfast was included but we did not make it but I still appreciate it was available. read more

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. It has changed over the years but the view to the sea is unchanged and beautiful! This trip I decided to change up where we stay and took a recommendation from friends and stayed here. It does not look like much from the road but decided to give them a try. The front desk is nice equipped with staff very kind and helpful staff. The rooms were large with comfortable queen beds. Other rooms had king beds with sofa beds. Most rooms have a view to the ocean. Tip : ask for these rooms. They get chosen quickly. Down fall no elevator and you need to carry your luggage up the stairs. I was given the 3 rd floor . I was very happy until I realized I had to carry my roller suitcase!! Not happy!! Breakfast is great. Nice perk. Rates vary on seasons. Call before and check rates. Do recommend! read more

Stay away from this place! I never write reviews but I feel obligated to protect other people. I booked on hotels.com and they called me and texted to see if I would change my reservation to a direct booking through them, "choice hotels". I agreed only after speaking with the "general manager" and after getting an email confirmation with a reservation number. This is all a little sketchy so I called three times (again three times!) to confirm my reservation via phone.Every time they say they have a reservation. We show up after a 7 hour drive with two young kids and they have no room! The booking was not recorded or something? I still don't know. I show them the email ***with reservation number*** and the text messages asking me to change my booking. But the rooms are full. Needless to say I was furious. Plus it's not easy to find accommodation around there in August with 4 people: Do not trust these people with your money. There is something sketchy going on and there is no guarantee your booking is real! Book with someone else! There are many other, more trustworthy places to stay. read more

What a freaking place to stay. We were lucky enough to get stay on the bottom floor which led to a beautiful lake. The rooms are clean, spacious and beds are super comfy. The room has a mini fridge, flat screen tv and very, very nice shower. The staff are friendly and welcoming There is a pool, lawn chairs, beach chairs, grills al kinds of stuff. They also have kayaking available It is also very close to many things and only a couple of miles if that to the center of town. It is definitely worth staying here. The one issue we had was the sound of the pipes every so often it made a terrible noise. read more

Decent price for a two night stay in a King room (about $110/night). Pros: -We had a balcony view which was awesome--definitely the highlight of the stay. -The room was nicely updated and furnished. -Staff were very sweet and helpful. -Outdoor pool -Complimentary breakfast -Complimentary wifi Cons: -The biggest con is that this place is about 2 miles from Ogunquit village and beaches. It's a quick drive but all free parking is only 30 minutes. We took the trolley a few times (runs 9am-8pm on weekends, $2.00/adult per ride) but it could be annoying to bring beach stuff on it, and they only come every 20-30 minutes. It wouldn't be a bad walk but the road is very busy and with construction there are a few stretches with no sidewalk. A bit dangerous! The best thing is to have a car and park for $5 near the antique store past Maine Street bar. -Decks are shared with the adjoining room, so not very private. -The rooms did not have microwaves so you have to go to the main building to heat anything up. -Our tub would not drain for some reason... -The "heated" pool was chilly, and a bit buggy. Our stay was nice, but if we come back to Ogunquit we may try to stay somewhere closer if we can find something reasonably priced. read more

We stayed here for a week in July and I have to say I was very pleased with this place. It was located less than a mile from Ogunquit beach and I'd say quite close to Wells beach also. The room had a nice comfortable king size bed flat screen tv a small area with a coffee table and love seat to relax in. The bathroom had a good size glass shower and toilet in one room and a double outside of door I liked that setup. Room was clean and really in beach town we showered and slept there so it was much more than we needed but I definitely will be staying here next year. They have docks with kayaks paddle boards that you can use. A pool with a jacuzzi they also have a breakfast that's included with your stay it's a continental breakfast. They have lots of parking and it is located right on the line where the bus/trolley picks you up to go Ogunquit beach read more

Front desk was nice enough. Room was upstairs and no elevator. (Seems to be a "thing" in Maine. Luckily the rest of the startle makes the inconvenience worth it. This place was not worth it. Got to the room after lugging our luggage upstairs. Unpacked. Laid down in the bed and it was pretty comfy. Turned to tv on. Doesn't work. Called down to the front desk and the guys came up and fixed it. Then the bathroom door didn't fully shut and wouldn't stay closed. We were on our way out for the night and stopped to tell them. We were told they would "look at it". After our wonderful evening we came back to the room and mother had been done and the reception office was all closed up. Next morning I went into the office and told the person the whole story and his only question was "did you tell me about the problem?" I told him that we had told a different employees and he said, "Oh well then...." like it wasn't his fault so he didn't care. Needless to say he was treated accordingly and didn't say a word at all. So just left and will never be back. We enjoyed Ogunquit tremendously and are moving to Maine soon. This will never be a place we stay at again and I recommend the same for everyone especially. read more

I've been coming to Ogunquit my whole life, but since my aunt who we'd stay with passed away, this is the first time I've stayed in a hotel. And wow am I glad we chose this place! The exterior is very unassuming but once you get past it, you will be beyond impressed! The ENTIRE PLACE is clean as a whistle...cleaner than most chain hotels I've stayed in! Beds are comfortable and staff is very accommodating. AND THE BREAKFAST?! Delicious! Not like you go to the beach to swim in the pool, but at night we swam and the over-chlorinated pool took the silver finish right off my sister's $100 cape cod bracelet! That's my biggest gripe. And not enough outlets by the beds. Other than that? STAY HERE (just stay out of the pool)! read more

Okay ... so why the 4 stars? Because I decided on a whim to head to Ogunquit on a Saturday and spend the night. Almost EVERY place else located near Ogunquit would not rent a weekend stay for only one night. They get two stars just for that. (Although honestly, the price was high enough where I think we could have got 2 nights somewhere else for the same price and just left early). Also, almost everywhere else within a couple miles was completely sold out ... I was able to book here on 5 day's notice for a Saturday in August, which is very rare. This is pretty 'no frills' based on the $300 price ... the rooms are stark white and the furnishings leave much to be desired. The worst thing about this place is the lack of privacy. If you book using a travel website (hotels.com for me), you are pretty much guarenteed to get the worst view/category of room, even if you leave a note. The balconies/patios here are literally right next to the sliding glass door and chairs of the room next door. We felt 'on display' the whole time we were here. The walls are on the thin side, and it is kind of awkward because if you want to leave your curtain open ... people are constantly walking past your room. (Our room was, of course) on the patio level, ground floor. We felt the whole time we were there that it was like having a room in Disneyworld with people walking past, kids playing ball in front of our door and people sitting one foot away from the sliding door. (the sliding door is the only entry/exit ... the rooms do not have real doors) The place is clean ... we had no issues with the rooms being dirty. While the furniture is a bit plain ... everything seemed to be fairly well maintained. The bed is as hard as a rock and features an indentation in the middle, making it one of the worst beds I've ever slept on. The bedding is also uncomfortable (old school comforter ... ick ... and heavy hard blanket). The bed was the second worst part of our stay. Luckily we drank heavily. The wifi here is useless. Sure, it is free but every couple seconds it would go out and take several minutes to get the signal back. Frustrating considered that both me (android) and the girl (iphone) couldn't get more than 3G if lucky. While the name of this place is Ogunquit River Inn ... it is actually located in Wells, ME about 2 or more miles from downtown Ogunquit. (We used a cab to get to the hotel from downtown one night and it was $15 tip included). There is a hotel shuttle that goes to the beach for free but it only runs until 4 p.m. To walk to town would be about 30 - 45 minutes and certainly not a walk anyone who didn't go to the gym often would want to make. I wouldn't consider this hotel walking distance from Ogunquit center. It is near a trolly stop ($2 each way ... trollies come every 15 min. to 30 minutes.) but I feel like anyone who thinks that this is an 'easy' trip to town is wrong. Even the beach is a 20 minute walk ... about 1.5 miles away) Trollies stop running at 11 p.m. so if you are planning on staying in town later, plan on a $10 cab ride but the sketchy cabbies give you your change in $5 bills and claim they have no $1 bills, so you have to tip them a $5. Overall, this place is not an ideal hotel for those who want to walk to excitement ... most of the families who stay here tend to be beach goers who come back after 4 p.m. and play on the lawn or sit outside and drink. Breakfast is free and it is clean and kept up well. If you are looking for a place that gives you some flexibility in that you can book a night during peak season with no issues ... here you go. Otherwise, $300/night is VERY steep for what you get here. I DO recommend this place though because there isn't anything wrong with it. But there aren't too many things that will make you say, "I'm glad I stayed here'. read more

I wanted to visit Ogunquit and booked this hotel based on price and location. It's about a 1.5 mile walk to town and the hotel does not provide any shuttle service. Parking in town is tight and generally must pay for parking in lots. The hotel itself has no curb appeal and the lobby is sterile and soul-less; much like the rooms. Lighting in the room is atrocious with an oddly placed ceiling light in the corner of the room emitting an awful white dull institutional light which we kept off and just used the 2 lamps. Not bad. There is no room servicing going on so make your own bed, or not. However, there is a $9 'resort fee' tacked on to your room rate which is noted in the booking page but only if you click on the info link to see what the taxes and fees will be. Totally unacceptable since this is NOT a resort by any stretch of the imagination and there is no housekeeping service. The views in the back of the hotel are delightful, however, but the windows were filthy and one pane even had bird dung splayed on it. Pretty disgusting and disappointing since we had to keep the curtains drawn and not take advantage of the nice views. If you want a soul-less room not too far from town, this is your place! read more

Big rooms, clean and up to date decor. Good location in terms of beach access. Parking is a complete rip off in Ogunquit so having parking in front of your room is a plus. Free breakfast is good as well. The staff is friendly but check in rules are strict so don't expect an early check in. I thought the rooms were dark in the afternoon but sunny and open in the morning. You may want a spot closer to town where the dining options seemed a bit more diverse. This place got high ratings on other travel sites. There are lots of options so I would be picky and go for price as a likely determining factor. You know what you get here which is good. read more

This was our first stay at this hotel. Stayed at many places in Ogunquit over the years. I will say, when we pulled up to the building, we weren't even sure it was a hotel. Also no one was there, maybe 5-6 cars! It's a very strange configuration with the doors in the back of the building - you have to climb up a steep flight of stairs, and enter into your room via a sliding patio door. The lock to that slider was rusty and hard to lock/unlock and very flimsy. I will say, however, that the view of the river and the deck were beautiful..If not for those "pros", we'd be giving it only 1 star! I'm not sure if we were in an older building or what..I felt like I traveled back to the year 1978 with the room decor! You'd think because there were hardly any other guests in this huge place, they'd offer us a room in the newer building which may have been more updated. Also the water didn't get hot in the sink for about 5 minutes after running. I expected bugs to be in the bed, but couldn't find any. We didn't feel very safe especially at night, walking up those stairs to the deck, to get into our room. the light near our room was missing a bulb..so it was dark. It was very creepy to be honest and we didn't really feel safe sleeping there. We were waiting for Norman Bates to show up! LOL. also, no bottled waters in the room, that's a first! When we asked the guy at the Front desk, he said "no, there are no waters in the room, we sell them for $2 in the snack area".. kind of off-putting and not very hospitable. All of the staff we met on-site were not the friendliest. I felt like any question(s) we had was just annoying to them. It's a shame because this place has potential. I think this place needs a big overhaul or maybe new management. We didn't even know there was a pool til after we left - when my friend looked at the website. I guess it was kinda hidden. Location of the hotel was convenient, because it was away from the madness of the center and close to Wells Beach..I would request a refund for my $316 or a partial refund, since that room was in no way, worth $316.. Stayed here for this Fourth of July weekend. Had a wonderful time. Staff was extremely friendly and made check in super easy (booking on booking.com). They were able to help us with any questions we had about places to eat, see, trolleys, and more. They also made sure we had everything we needed, plus front desk had little Andes mints which are my favorite. The view is amazing little river, a picture perfect sunrise if you're an early riser. I think they just updated most of there building and it was definitely well done. They had kayaks that you could rent to go on the river too, which is convenient for anyone who is into that stuff. Hotel is huge, and is a little easy to get lost at first. It is super close to a lot of great restaurants(check out some of my reviews) and shops and beaches. It is right in the middle of wells & york so you get the best of Maine at your fingertips. read more

The breakfast in the morning it's very nice in the lobby was beautiful. My only complaint is the mattresses in the rooms. They were lumpy and very uncomfortable. We rented three rooms and all three rooms had uncomfortable beds. The hotel needs to make a serious investment into quality mattresses. read more

Rooms are certainly spacious, though the decor (carpeting, curtains, bedspread..) appears to be circa 1993. We felt the room was a bit overpriced for $99.00 a night. On the bright side, it's walking distance to the trolley stop for the route that runs into the center of town. The view is gorgeous, though. If you get the right room, you can look out over a babbling brook.. and maybe see some sea shore. ;-) Heated pool is open from 9am - 11pm. We were thinking about going swimming, but it was rather chilly outside this weekend. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE!!! My mother suffers from emphaysema and CANNOT walk up and down stairs. First they put us in a room down a hill and down another hill. We tried to get to it, and my mother started struggling to breathe. As we were going up to ask for another room, my mother went into RESPIRATORY DISTRESS!! She was able to recover after putting on an oxygen tank. After we went to the front desk and got a room near the parking lot, and the room is like a prison cell. The window is high up and you cannot see the lake in the back. There is no "patio" or "terrace", just one sad chair out on the parking lot. Avoid this place at all costs. I was looking for a place in Ogunquit for one night in June. This was one of the few that would take a one-night weekend reservation. There were 6 of us, so I was assuming I'd need 2 rooms, but this place has a penthouse 2 bedroom suite that sleeps 6-8 that we ended up getting. It was the perfect choice. Not only was there plenty of room, it had a living room sitting area & tv, a dining table, a small kitchen with a full fridge and stove and a great balcony and beautiful view. we brought in plenty of snacks and wine and had a blast just hanging out but not feeling cramped in a regular hotel room while everyone was getting ready to go out. Yes the decor is dated, but the room was bright and comfortable and suited our needs just fine. And we could not hear anything else from other parts of the hotel. They run an hourly shuttle to the beach (saving you about $25/car in parking) This is a perfectly fine drop off area to explore the town as well...Rex was super friendly and helpful with this for us. There's a trolley stop right outside to head into town (though this stops at 8pm so plan ahead for that). They happily arranged taxi service for us instead (which on a side note is something that needs to be planned, cabs don't just drive around this town looking for fares.) They have a heated outdoor pool and hot tub with plenty of lounge chairs as well and it's open till 11pm. We took advantage of this after high tide cut our beaching short that afternoon. Towels are also available right there. Breakfast was included...it was a decent selection of continental food...including belgian waffles, sausage, eggs, toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. I would definitely stay here again (in hopes of actually staying more than one night too) read more

First of all I use a walker to get around and nowhere in their ad did it say they have no elevators. So because of this I received a room on the second floor with street level parking. This was like a room from hell. First the keys did not work and a worker showed me how to unlock the door She said the door was broken into and was not setting right. Then in our bathroom we had no closet. The picture showed a 2 part closet but we had a 1 part with no closet. The wonderful views they show were not in our room. We had a small window with a view of a tin roof. I went to the office and asked to see the manager and was told she was gone for the day and would be back the next morning at 8:30. When I saw her I asked where the breakfast was served as my reservation included a free breakfast. I was then told they stopped free breakfast June 1st and replaced it with packaged pastry. I then said this is unacceptable and she agreed to give me a $30 per day credit plus tax to our card. Two weeks later and still no credit!! I called the hotel numerous times to talk to her and they keep saying she's not in and will call you back and never did. We paid top dollar for this hotel and were ripped off so beware fellow travelers. Avoid at all costs!!!! read more

When we asked for a third chair the tried to charge us for a third person even thought we had booked for three people and there are are two queen beds. We stayed here last week and loved our stay. The most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The lake is beautiful but don't go there expecting to meditate early at sunrise because the mosquitoes will eat you up. They are huge! This place was lovely though. We had our two girls with us 6 and 11 years old. They enjoyed the pool and we enjoyed the jacuzzi. Such a cute little romantic spot. Really friendly people in town and they have free breakfast. Good options. We stopped were supposed to be there only for 2 nights but ended staying for 3 because of the pool and jacuzzi really entertained our girls. Close to the hotel we also found entertainment for the kids like the human maze, go carts which was a lot of fun and first time for both girls. They were thrilled. We also went to the arcade place. We had a lot of fun and would definitely come again. I would say this is more of a romantic spot but could have kids there too. It's more of a quite place our kids were just a little extra loud and we could see when ever they got in the pool or jacuzzi with in 10 minutes they ran the couples out. read more

We stayed during Memorial Day Weekend. Unfortunately the weather was wet and cold, so we spent more time indoors than we had hoped. The good thing is that the king room at Ogunquit River Inn was comfortable with a very nice balcony view of the bay. The bed is a pillow-top mattress. The room was spacious, clean and updated. The entrance to our room was via the balcony which acts as the walkway to all the second floor rooms. This does limit privacy, but we did not mind or have any issues. There were no noise from outside or other rooms. When making the reservation online, I did not receive any confirmation email, which made me wonder if the reservation went through. I did make sure to print and save the confirmation page upon reserving the room on the website. Check-in ended up being easy. This is a solid mid-range hotel outside of paying hundreds for a high-end one in Ogunquit center. The hotel is about 1.2 miles away from the center beaches, shops, and restaurants, but many of the hotels are along this road and the trolley is available for transportation. read more

Extremely comftorable rooms. The beds are amazing and comfortable. Early arrival policy is a bit extreme. I specifically asked for 1pm to 2pm arrival. The hotel was slow for May. The general mgr was not willing to accomadate me. I also asked for a handicapped room because my wife is severely disabled. The room we got had no bars on the walls in the bathrooms. My wife kept getting trapped in the bathroom because it was too small. Impossible for a disabled adult to take a shower. I would highly suggest that the hotel has a few rooms they should get handicap ready. read more

Loved the location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was above any other we have had at hotels. Room was spacious and clean!
