I had to bring my husband here to try! We were in the area and I knew we had to stop. We had our dog with us so sat outside. Luckily they have one small table out front. It's very small but worked. Came back again after trying a month since popping in around time of their opening (we noticed Oh G getting lots of attention on social media too!). When we walked in, my boyfriend and I noted that there was more decor along the walls (art along the long wall, posters of their burgers throughout the front area) since we last visited weeks ago and also loved that they started playing music in the background. This time around I ordered the wagyu burger and finally got to try one of their oreo milkshakes (the milkshakes weren't available yet when we first visited so this was a treat). Without question best burger in Hayward. Intense beef flavor from unique high end meats - grand opening in downtown Hayward. I had my wagyu (ultra luxury) with onion rings and both were HOT and outstanding. I loved the freshness straight off the grill and fryer. Just perfect. The smash burgers are great. I think if its your first time that is where you should start. They are low in price and full of flavor. The higher end burgers are for those with a more sophisticated taste - and if in doubt ask the chef about the different burgers available. Picking a meat type that fits you is important - and there is variety with regard to grade and seasoning. There really isn't a good burger in Hayward. Val's I think is closed or only open one day a week - other than that there isn't much competition in the general area. The beef that Vals used was unusually high quality - and this - especially the higher end burgers blows out all the competition. I remember this used to be a dark tiny restaurant. I think something happened to one of the main cooks and next thing I know the previous restaurant was gone. With the remodel I hardly recognized it. Its bright and open and there is seating all the way down to the back. Grill is within view yet cooking aromas were not at all overwhelming. They also have Korean fried popcorn chicken on the menu and other Korean dishes which I will definitely be trying next time. The owners are so friendly and so sweet and will make sure that everything with your order looks good and tastes good. They just had such a lovely sweet energy. My husband saw that a new burger place had opened up nearby so you know we had to do that 6 mile round trip walk to check it out! We were delighted to say hi to this new place and the people we met (we think they are the owners) were super sweet and inviting! Their short rib ground beef was remarkable and gave a special umami flavor that I don't often taste in burgers. The sauce was awesome; not the usual ketchup/mustard/mayo/relish mix. As a burger lover, I was so happy that Oh G Burger opened up in Hayward. I've tried their Warriors Burger, the Hayward Burger, and their smashburger so far. All of them are good in my opinion, but definitely have different flavor profiles! The Hayward Burger is spicy, so if you like spicy you'll enjoy this one! It's also a special menu item only available at this location. But if you want more of a classic burger, the smashburger is the way to go! The Warriors Burger has eggs in it, so I do like that one if I wanted a more breakfast-y type burger. They have house made ranch, which is more on the lighter side for thickness and consistency. Flavor is light and not too overpowering. I really love dipping all the sides with it, like the cheese curds, fries, and onion rings. The onion rings are freshly battered, also on the lighter side and crispy side! Kinda reminds me of a thinner tempura style of onion rings. Not the super thick kind if that makes sense. I think the onion rings and cheese curds are my favorite sides! I also tried the Oreo milkshake which fulfills my cravings for something sweet after having a burger. I would say for the milkshakes they're good and thick you can tell the strawberry has real strawberries in it not a syrup! For the loaded fries they weren't my personal favorite but everyone's opinion may be different! I think for the loaded fries it's mainly due to the fact that the sauce they put over it taste new to me so I think that's what threw me off. The best way I could describe it is maybe a kewpie mayo. Given that we are in the bay area and In-N-Out is very popular, I wish they would call their animal fries something else because I couldn't help but compare the two. The strawberry milkshake blends real strawberries and we would 100% order it again. Came for the chicken wings which aren't super advertised but so good! we tried the honey butter flavor (which isn't the powder like the other k chicken place) but has a more balanced sweet salty flavor as well as OMG (same seasoning as their fries) and yangyum.
