First of all, I have different experiences with acupuncture, treated by Chinese, Taiwanese and Korean acupunturists before; they have similar background from Traditional Chinese Medicine practices. I decided to visit Yoonmin Acupuncture because they are in my health plan network and close to me. My first interaction with Hannah on the phone was pleasant because she was very patient and understand to try to understand my reasons for seeing an acupuncture and was able to verify my health plan coverage and co-pay. When I got to her office, I filled out my profile, health history, and descriptions of the "pains." Hannah is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions about the process. I was later led to a room to change to a hospital gown wearing my undewear only, awaiting treatment. All my visits so far have been with the acupunturist Henry, who has a slight accent, but he is quite knowledgeable and friendly. If you are concerned, he is very gentle with the needles. I believe he sterilizes one's skin before he inserts the needles. I am currently having treatments on right hip pain, stiff lower back pain, left sprained ankle, stiff shoulders, and left jammed swollen thumb. To my amazement, I find Henry's acunpuncture technique quite effective and interesting because the needles do not always stay for more than 10 seconds, which is slightly different from Traditional Chinese Medicine practices. It was later explained to me that sometimes Henry would use anatomical acupuncture technique or vertex synchronizing technique for my treatments. For "deep" hard knots and pains, the needles are sometimes hooked up to an electrical stimulator (similar to muscle stimulator) and heat lamp to give an extra boost. There were a few incidents where my joints and muscles were quite sore for a day or two after the treatment. PS: If you can provide the exact, detailed pain points in your body and the limitation of the range of motion, that would be beneficial to better diagnose your issue and might result in a more effective treatment to alleviate your pains. read more

All it took is 2 sessions and Hannah treated my severe lower back pain and left sciatic nerve. Following my second needle, electric stimulation, and cupping treatment, I was able to have a good night sleep and was surprised to wake up with no nerve pain shooting down my leg! As someone who had a lifelong FEAR of needles, I never thought I would be writing a review for an acupuncturist!! Luckily, my wife FORCED me to schedule a session with Hannah at Yoonmin Acupuncture. My physical well being have been FAR better ever since. (This is a long review, but the short version is this: Do not let fear of needles or lack of acupuncture experience prevent you from seeking treatment!!!) After weeks and weeks of debilitating back pain from a specific incident, I was finding myself unable to walk more than a block without having to stop. Sleeping, sitting, and standing all were difficult and painful. My general practitioner had not been able to help and my life was severely and increasingly impacted. My wife made an appointment with Yoonmin and I was in too much pain to override her demand that I see Hannah. I often think back and LAUGH at how terrified I was sitting in the parking lot waiting for my appointment time. I soon discovered I had nothing to worry about and relief was just inside Yoonmin's doors. Hannah put me at ease with her explanation of what she was doing, what to expect, and her extremely gentle nature. The actual experience only took a few minutes to get used to and I was able to relax and actually start to enjoy the first visit. (It's now one of my FAVORITE things to do!!) Hannah explained at the end of the session what I could expect in terms of improvement overnight. I was relieved to be done and went home hoping for any small change in my back pain. I woke up the next morning at least 75% better and was suddenly eager to return for my next session!! The improvement continued quickly and I was completely back to normal within a month or so. It was sincerely life changing!! Most recently, I experienced what I thought were some kind of tears in my lower knees from playing basketball. I figured rest would heal them, but the pain was consistent and never subsided. Hannah to the rescue! It took just one session to make a huge improvement. Yoonmin Acupuncture, specifically Hannah, is a knowledgeable and professional practitioner of Acupuncture. She is clear about what will be happening, thoughtful about your reaction, but most importantly, effective at addressing chronic or temporary muscle pain. What impressed me was feeling better after one single treatment. Hannah gauges the frequency of treatments needed and will happily tell you, you can go longer between treatments. It's hard to keep this review short and sweet because I have so many excellent things to say about Yoonmin Acupuncture. Been coming here for 1 year for Lupus enteritis, mast cell activation syndrome, fibromyalgia, reverse psoriasis and POTS syndrome. Extreme lethargy, extreme pain 10/10 for whole back, shoulder and neck pain can cause such extreme depression and anxiety as a result. I was vomiting at least once a week and need Benadryl infusion and 16 vials of Cromolyn a day to keep my pain moderate. I could barely walk because of abdominal pain and daily nausea at level of 6/10. My face and skin would be red and swollen because of mast cell activation syndrome and psoriasis. I was already on chemotherapy for lupus and have extreme nausea too. I couldn't eat as much without getting nauseated and my mood swings of course because of 4 auto immune diseases. I would get dizzy daily from POTS syndrome. Physical therapy only helped bring my pain down to 5/10 and 1/10 on good days. One year later with Hannah's acupuncture only, all my symptoms are gone. Hannah's stomach powder made me feel so normal that I forgot I even had nausea and stomach issues. I decreased my Cromolyn from 16 vials a day to only 4 vials. I can do yard work for 2 hours at a time until my back aches. I don't get headaches, no vomiting, no nausea, no lethargy, no anxiety, no depression. Her sleeping powder helped me from waking up in the middle of the night. I only needed to take the each kind of powder like 2 months until I felt confident to be off of it. Her herbal powders are all food products that are grinded to powder in a pouch and you take with water. They taste completely fine. I even have muscle powder for my back and my back pain has decreased significantly from 10/10 to 3/10 and with acupuncture is 0/10. Before seeing Hannah, I could not exercise because my body would hurt everywhere and I was limited to just slow walking for 10 minutes until my back hurts and suffer abdominal pain. I can now run on the treadmill for 10 minutes and walk for 30 minutes. I am able to walk 12 hours a day for 11 days in Japan without much pain. Then sleep on a heating pad and my back pain disappeared. My shoulder trapezius muscle has a big knot and Hannah put a needle in the knot and broke the knot for better circulation and reduce blockage. Hannah's acupuncture lasts a long time. I don't have pain for a week. I've been to other acupuncturists (3) and they only put needles next to my knot and I would get pain within 2 hours after my session. Hannah's session last for at least a week. Now, I can last 10 day's without pain until I need to see her again. My health is very complicated medically and Hannah took care of it where I function more normally than I did one year ago. I couldn't stand to iron my clothes but with Hannah, I can stand the whole time without having to take breaks every 10 mins. She also has stress powder where it helps you deal with your current stress. My previous acupuncturist's herbal powder gave me an allergic reaction that I had diarrhea, abdominal pain and my face turns red and my body swells. Hannah's herbal powder didn't give me an allergic reaction and my auto immune diseases makes me sensitive to many things. Her powders helped me sleep better, eat better, no nausea, no abdominal pain, removed my anxiety and removed my stress of worrying about my health. This acupuncture place is a gold mine. Best customer service, kind and extremely good people. Hannah and her hubby are both acupuncturist so you will be in good hands. They do fertility as well. If you have shoulder pain or neck pain from sitting in front of the computer 8 hours a day or even to relieve your body and mind from the overwhelment of work, give this place a try. I have suffered from severe back pain for a year and a half. MRI result said there are 11mm disc protrusion between L3-L4 and 14mm disc protrusion between L4-L5. These discs protrusions compressed nerve roots. And my pelvis was severely unbalanced and I couldn't stand more than 2 min and walk more than around 30 feet without sitting and resting because of excruciating pain over my whole right pelvis area and right leg.
